Nothing fancy then, Demon is going throw a spear of Hellfire at you! 1d20+13=21 Defence shifted Etain wins the day! And you are up!

Ok, something of a reworking for Slick. This is partially to try and jolt some life into him/her, partially to solve the nagging problem of what Slick's "innate" form is (I use the term conceptually rather than mechanically). The answer is - a blob of oil with cells floating in it! To reassure, effectively the two forms serve pretty much the same function: Accurate melee fighters. I intend to play Slick as Oil Blob for his regular "Spandex" super hero outings, and use human forms for more covert / social outings. I have 5 PP to play with, the first thing is to reduce strength to 10 for another 14 PP (19 PP). Also, dropping Leaping 2 for another PP (21 PP total). Don't fret, they are coming back, but as enhanced strength. His fluid Oily form is not that strong (understandably). First off, some basics Adding 2 to DEX, and +1 to will save for 3 PP. This adds +1 to initiative and +1 to reflex saves, and some bonuses to skills thus: Abilities: 0 + 8 + 16 + 6 + 4 + 6 = 40PP Strength: 24/10 (+7) Dexterity: 18 (+4) Constitution: 26 (+8) Intelligence: 16 (+3) Wisdom: 14 (+2) Charisma: 16 (+3) Combat: 12 + 10 = 22PP Initiative: +4 Attack: +9 (+6 Base, +3 Mellee Focus) Grapple: +11 (Oily blob Form: +9 Mellee, +2 Elongation), +16 (Human Form: +9 Mellee, +7 Strength) Defense: +8 (+5 Base, +3 Dodge Focus), + 3 Flat-Footed Knockback: -4 Saving Throws: 0 + 0 + 3 = 3PP Toughness: +8 (+8 Con) Fortitude: +8 (+8 Con) Reflex: +4 (+4 Dex) Will: +4 (+2 Wis, +2) Skills: 32R = 8PP Bluff 4 (+7) Craft (Chemical) 2 (+5) Diplomacy 4 (+7) Escape Artist +12/0 (+13) (In Oil Blob form, he is fluid, but it would be +6: +4 Dex, +2 Elongation) Knowledge (Business) 7 (+10) Knowledge (Civics) 2 (+5) Knowledge (Current Events) 2 (+5) Knowledge (Life Sciences) 2 (+5) Notice 3 (+5) Sense Motive 3 (+5) Languages 3 (English [Native], French, German, Spanish) Now the "complicated" stuff. Basically, I am folding all of Slicks previous human qualities into linked powers, representing him forming himself into a human shape. The powers are all continuous, so this is actually how he walks about most of the time. Its 25 PP worth of Powers in total, comprising of the Leaping 2 and Strength 14 that were dropped, his Morph Ability [6 PP], and Enhanced Trait 3 [+12 to Escape Artist] However, the human form of 25 PP will actually be an AP off of his Oil form, which costs 26 PP. The reason I'm doing it this way is because the human form will progress in 3 PP bursts (As he gets better at morphing), whilst the innate form can progress in 1 PP micro chunks. The Oil form is 26 PP of Linked powers, with an AP feat to Human Form. The mechanical differences these forms will cause are to: Grapple, STR related carrying/throwing stuff, Escape Artist (being redundant in oily form but still). I have included in above. This will look like: Oil and Flesh Forms 13 (26 PP Array, Feats: Alternate Power 1) [27 PP] Base PowerInsubstantial 1 (Extras: Duration: Continuous, Drawbacks: Noticible ) [5 PP] + Strike 7 (Feats: Improved Critical 2) + Super-Movement 3 (Wall walking 2, Slithering) [7 PP] + Elongation 2 (10 Feet, Range Increment 20 Feet, +2 Escape and Grapple) [2PP]+ Additional Limbs 4 (10 Extra limbs) [4 PP] [26 PP Total] (Humanoid Form; Biological, Mutant) Alternate PowerEnhanced Ability (Strength +14) [14 PP] + Enhanced Trait (Escape Artist + 3) [3 PP] + Leaping 2 () [2 PP] + Morph 2 (Extras: Duration: Continuous, Feats: Attractive 2, Feature [No disguise penalty for changing sex], Drawbacks: Action3 [Full round to change appearance]) [6 PP] [25 PP Total] (Oily Blob Form; Biological, Mutant) Apologies for being complex. I suppose I could do it using Alternate Form power, and there may be, and most probably are, neater ways of presenting this on sheet. Gave it my best shot. See comments further down thread.

Yes please! [Taking 10 will hit em all too - which I presume you would do!]
-
Keeping your initiative Nobody can really be flat footed at this point, even if they loose initiative, as everyone totally prepared for combat. 1d20+0=19 for Cape, suprisingly good! 1d20+8=21 for Demon, even better! How many HP does Etain have now? (Last stunt was free remember)
-
Just an additional thought that sprung to mind. If he is burrowing, he may want to get full darkvision to see in the tunnel (or an alternative accurate sense like tremor sense, which dosent fit quite so well). (Its not really necessary, but immunity to suffocation may be of benefit to burrowers too... although not really a fit and he has high enough con to hold breath for some time...)
-
Quentin didn't really understand what he was facing, or who. But he didn't like the man. Although he oozed charm, it must be conceded. There was something attractive about him. After all, he was being reasonable and polite, offering Etain a painless death... He shook his head. What was he thinking? The silver tounged snake! "" he muttered to Etain "
-
"Consider me your friendly sat nav!" replied Supercape. And progressively more desperate one at that he thought, eyeing the peculiar anomaly. And so he proceeded, in a precise, well enunciated tone, giving his directionally-challenged partner the route. "Left... bear right... no... the other right. That's right. No, not right again. Left. Thats ri... Thats good... stay there..."

OK I dont want to get to technical, but lets make a driving roll for speeding through the forest! No specific rules for this, so its rule fudge time! Fail - crash! DC 10 - Make it, slowly, engine / suspension going to be damaged from all the near misses, minor collisions, and terrible terrain you hit badly. DC 15 - Make it slowly DC 20 - Make it in ok time. DC 25 - Make it fast! (With extra cool stunts and jumps!)

So... close...to thirty.... Even so, thats enough for some info... By referencing Hallowed ground, you realise that the longer the beast stays in the area, the weaker he will become. Scurtinising with your super senses, you realise he is already beginning to be poisoned. [-1 Con per minute] Presumably a fail safe device for summoning him. Secondly, this is a major demon. His true name will significantly depower him. (And feel free to be creative with any pseudonyms for him eg. Eater of Witchfolk etc...)
-
Knowledge (Arcane) Roll if you will...
-
GM "" smiled the beast. He was hard to look at with normal eyes, although for Etain he shone like a star, illuminating infernal magic. A hunter, a beast, a killer, but not without nuance. Fierce intelligence and horrible power. A demon of high rank. He stood six feet tall, dressed in the robes of the mystics they had dispatched earlier. He was shaven headed, with bronze green eyes that oozed charm and threat at the same time. He moved slowly but with grace. " He fixed his eyes at Etain once more. ""

"I cangh barghly conghenghtgh---th----th----th" Again, the sac slowly inflated and after a pause, the words came out again "enough to speagh..." replied Slick, in a curious trance like state of calm. It was if, loosing all control over his body and focussing on just one thing, he had achieved some moment of Zen enlightenment. He had been so awash with panic, that it had completely washed over him and away.
-
Slick could hear the Beautiful Blonde, for sure. He could smell her too. Damn he missed his eyes, however. With immense concentration, out of the sludge, he could just about manage to form a rudimentary throat and vocal chords. A balloon of air filled up in the central part of the sludge, then slowly deflated with a wheezing sound, accompanied by a throaty drowning voice. "Yessssssssh. I clangh hargh joooo" The balloon like sac inflated again, then started wheezing downwards. "getttttsgh megh outgh of thigsh"
-
"Ah yes!" came Supercape's voice, crackling with static over the commlink. "There you are..." A long pause... "Thats not, um... exactly north by north west is it..." Another pause. "Right. Well, if you two chaps could perhaps speed along as I give you directions that would be awfully decent of you. And...er... I do mean speed. Really, really speed. "
-
"" Replied Quentin. "", and placing his hand on Etain, the two heroes again leapt through the entangles points in space time to the stairs that lead down from the Church to the Crypt. Pausing, he held out his hand. There was a slight blurring just above his palm. He looked up at Etain, speaking in English, for there was no Latin translation "Molecular mines. Anything goes past here now, EMP burst, should blind the creature. If we need to run for it, we run. Just here, move to your left, by the wall. It won't set the mine off. "
-
Slick felt his body vibrate and hum. It was as if he was a tuning fork and somebody had hit him. "Goddamn it!" he shouted out "something's happening!" Something he couldn't control. Having spent the best part of seventy years in near total control of his body, this was quite new, and quite dreadful. His whole body was oscillating at increasing violence and frequency. "I'm loosing control!" he half shouted, half screamed. "Do somethinggggglggglglg" His voice tailed off as all cellular coherence was lost. His body turned jet black, nearly entirely oil, and his liquid gel-like body dripped off the couch to the floor.
-
"Goodness me!" exclaimed Quentin, at the sight of the monstrosity. It was... hard.. to look at directly. It seemed human, but something about it just seemed wrong. Like it had too many dimensions, or too few. Like you couldn't look at it quite directly without your mind demanding an explanation. "Ummm" he murmured "
-
SC can pretty much take you anywhere in the multiverse bar mystic dimensions... 33 PP is easily enough to Powerstunt a Visual ESP - say rank 10 (20 PP) with 13 PP Rapid... ....Yeah, you find the beast. He is lurking directly under the Church where we kicked off!

After a bit of discussion in chat... What with busy real life, I can't keep up with even half the threads going on in here, even with skim reading (A bad habit of mine - must crush). So, as 2010 draws to a close, if anybody fancies posting here there favourite ONE thread they have been in for 2010, that would be a help, as I can catch up on the best of the year. Its not a competition, its just for me (or indeed anyone) help decide what threads to really properly read given limited time... and I won't post reviews! If you could post link that would be nice, and maybe a line or two about why it was your favourite too. Cheers!

GM It wasn't long before the roads of Freedom City gave way to the roads winding through Wharton Forest. The main roads became side roads, the side roads became walkways, the walkways became tracks, and the tracks became... Yes, Push had driven right into the heart of Wharton Forest, and had got completely lost.
-
"" Muttered Quentin. He bent down, placing a hand on each unconscious mystic, before teleporting them out of the crypt. In a few moments, he folded himself back into the crypt, by Etains side. " The air seemed hot, and cold at the same time, and stuffy too. A nasty oppressive temperature was rising that could hardly be defined. The hairs on his neck stood on end. And from nowhere, and everywhere, came an evil whispering voice. ""

Hmm. Very well. I'll give it some thought. For clarification is the fluff or the mechanics? (I'm not entirely sure where the dividing line for Joke characters is! ) EDIT: Rene has now got his robe of mists, a device I had planned for to boost him to caps... which it has done! Paid for by dropping WIS to 26. -
1 HP for Push then. In which case, you are going to get lost in Wharton Forest!!! muahaha! Your call from where to go from there - Powerhouse to the rescue? Kid Cthullu? If you are going to go speeding through the forest, driving rolls may be in order!

His defence was lower than I had intended. Have boosted it up to +4 [Effective defensive PL now 6] Lost 2 PP of skills (Diplomacy and Languages), Connected Feat, 1 Point of Luck. I have plans for boosting his defence up later (With another magic item) but this will need more PP than I have at present! -

A Superhero, but an aged irritable one. It struck me there aren't any old old characters in Freedom City so I thought I would try my hand at one. Whilst he wont be wearing a costume (apart from an antiquated dress sense), he will still be a fully functioning superhero, albeit in the Dr. Strange mode (or associated sorted cast). OK, So he wont be engaging in acrobatics... This character is in the vein of "Master Mages" as per Book of Magic. He will hopefully be more cerebral than pounding fists, more of a "trickster" combatant than pulsing mystic blasts etc. As for personality, he will probably be a grumbling romantic. Fluff of complaining about his creaking bones and poor memory, but actually be very wise. Touches of Clint Eastwood in "Unforgiven" spring to mind, although you could take pretty much any aged hollywood action hero and see traces of Rene. Erm. Does that answer your question?
