Quentin put his trembling hand on Etain, and with another characteristic wobble, they were back in Freedom City, Latern Hill. Wintergreen Cafe was next door to them. He had chosen a side alley where nobody was around. "Cup of tea would be splendid. A hot one, too. I'm still freezing."

Stats for the Russkies! There are 4 Cossacks, who are basically solider type minions, equipped with swords and steam powered handguns [blast 5 Equipment, needs full action to wind up] The young russian aristocrat is a PL 10 Weaponmaster Hero, using a sword - although he also has a steam powered handgun [blast 5 Equipment, needs full action to wind up] All of the above have been treated to be immune to Rasputins (Freezonium) attacks. Rasputin is based off the master of energy PL 15 Villian, but as he is a davros type cyborg and RASPUTIN! things have been changed a little. Basically, I have altered his attributes to represent the fact he is davros, shifted toughness/defence, gave him a high will save and immunity to fort. He actually comes in under PL 15 (due to zero defence) but he should be effective nonetheless. STR 2, DEX 2, CON 2, INT 10, WIS 30, CHA 20 [6 pp] Attack +0 Defence +0 [0 pp] Toughness +20, Fort: Immune, Reflex -4, Will +18 [8pp] Skills: Concentration +18, Knowledge (Arcane) +12, Knowledge (Theology) +12 Powers: Protection +22 Immunity: Fort Saves, Cold Cold Blast 15 (Penetrating, Perception, PFs: Variable descriptor: Ice or cold effects) AP: "Chill" Blast 15 (Fort Save, Perception) AP: Snare 15 (Transparent, Perception) Cold Blast and Snare come in AP forms reducing range to zero, adding Selective and Burst Area Chill blast comes in AP form reducing range to zero, adding Selective and Cloud Area. Amazingly, all the above comes in at 149pp! I havent stated up the fact he has significant disabilities (being in a wheelchair and largely immobile) and the fact that he has a PLOT effect: environmental control, severe cold.

Aoiroo, you want to go in blind, or would prefer stats first?

"My word" mumbled Quentin, forgetting his Latin. He felt cold inside as well as out. "That felt... pretty horrible. " He gulped and reached, as was his habit, to adjust his bow tie. "Yes my dear, some tea would be sterling. " He was trembling, and not just from the cold of this distant planet. "I think I would like to leave now. Where too?"

Earth Victoriana: The Brit Machine (IC) (GM)
Supercape replied to Supercape's topic in The Realms Beyond
GM The Young Russian aristocrat turned to edge, his sneer turning more foul by the minute. "" As the guests start to file out of the Freezing greenhouse, the young man pulls out a large bronze handgun, and slowly wind's it up. Steam briefly emits from its chamber as he does so. "" He spat at Edge, becoming more furious with every word "We trusted the King to send us aid to fight the red traitors, but none came! my poor father, the famous Rasputin, nearly died at the hands of the rebel dogs!" "It was only fortune that allowed me to save him, and he lives only as half the man he was. But half is enough! For in the aftermath of that battle, from the sky, came a most curious substance. A substance that allowed me to rebuild my father and will allow me to plunge England into Ice!!!" With another evil cackle, he tore open his fathers ornamental shirt. The man was indeed, only half a man. His chest was a mess of wires, bronze, and cog wheels, all straining to keep his chest breathing. And in the centre of the steampunk cyborg, a very familiar object... ...a vial of pure freezonium! -
"Yeah, I still eat" smiled Slick, who knew he was in great shape. Not that it was difficult for him, of course. "I'll take you out to dinner one day and show you!" "My weight goes up and down pretty much at my own control, within the limits of Newtonian physics of course. But I can pretty much control most aspects of my physiological functioning". "I've had a look at my DNA and cells, of course. Pretty complex stuff. Best guess is that my cells aren't differentiated. They can all perform any physiological function, given time. "

Ok. Big Bad is coming up. This is a one off big bad (Rasputin) who is going to die... (well, die in this guise anyway, we all know Rasputin never dies), so I can do one of two things: a) Stat him up here [its a riff on the Master of Energy Archetype from core book, but pumped up a little, making him a challenge for two PL 15s] If you all wish, you can go in "blind". In addition to the big bad, there will be lower level PLs to dispatch. As always, there are significant tricks that can be used to "win" without just pounding people to unconsciousness, both some I have though of, and some you may think of and I didn't! :D

Earth Victoriana: The Brit Machine (IC) (GM)
Supercape replied to Supercape's topic in The Realms Beyond
GM Ms. Wells pointed her copper plated analytical engine at the group of Russians, her teeth beginning to chatter as she did so. "The temperature drop is almost certainly coming from that group" she said, her breath condensing with every word. "Lord! its getting colder every minute!" Indeed, as she spoke, one of the ushers called out, in a distressed tone of voice "Ladies and Gentlemen, due to the unprecedented weather we are experiencing locally, we have, for your safety, to disband the evening and urge you all to seek appropriate warm shelter. Our apologies". There were various mumblings from the crowd, a few "outrageous" and "who does he think he is?" type comments of the upper class attendees, but even amongst them, everyone sounded damned relieved to be getting out of the freezing conditions. The young Russian gave a smile that was more like a sneer. -
"Aging? no. Other than becoming more proficient with sliding my organs and muscles around. In many ways, i'm in better shape now than ever. " "As for mass, no that stays the same. I'm quite heavy, dense I guess, but not significantly so. If I shrink in size I get a bit more dense, if I grow, I get a little more hollow. And that's probably the reason why there are limits to how tall or short I can get. "

"On occasion, yes. No serious illnesses. At a few points I have experienced some major auto immune responses which have required treatment. Well, not required, but its pretty painful without them, I can assure you. Lasts a few days, nobody quite understands why I get them. Its not allergic as far as we can tell. I get the flare up maybe once a year at most. " "Otherwise, I do get the odd cough and cold, but not as often as other people. And I shake them off quickly. Overall, my health is superb. Better than human, really. "

destroying the totem is a DC 20 Drain WIS effect, will save from the ghastly ghastliness. 1d20+8=24 for Supercape, the lucky beggar! Also: With one of the three totems destroyed, it is up to you at this point, it could be played out so all three have to be destroyed (I was thinking at least one would be found already broken), or merely by destroying one, the pact would be nullified. Your call - I'm happy to continue and maybe have a bust up with a demon (not Una) at the end.

Quentin looked at the distant object. He could only just see it, even in the barren planet and thin atmosphere. "Only" was enough however. He started unpicking the molecular forces that held it together, and it was only a matter of time before the thing started to crack, and ultimately crumble. And eventually, it dissolved into dust. Nothing visible could be seen, and nothing audible could be heard, and yet something horrible could be felt. Like a wailing in his soul. A ghastly wrenching of his spirit that filled him with dread and despair.

Slick became a little touchy, and it showed. He mumbled a German curse under his breath before regaining his composure, or at least some measure of it. "Pardon me, madam, but it's... sensitive. I didn't know my parents, and unless you have access to time travel I doubt anyone will. " Gazing around Archetech it seemed time travel might be within the realms of possibility: although he shuddered at the thought of travelling to that period. "From what my adoptive father told me, I was experimented on by the Nazi regime. Not many records survived, however. There is some reference to me being exposed to some experimental rocket fuel. A few other suggestive scrawls. Not much. " Not much I can face looking at anyway. There were indeed a couple of badly preserved, and in some cases, burnt, files at his mansion under heavy lock and key. The words and photographs were not pretty. He sighed and almost shrugged in an apologetic way. "I'm sorry, it was a difficult time. It haunts me still".
-
"" He shivered. The planet was breathable but that was about it. He had taken to exploring a few planets (or rather, scanning them) every evening, and of course most where completely intolerable. By luck, he had come across this barren, waterless world, with just enough atmosphere to breathe, enough gravity to walk on, and enough sunlight from the dim binary stars to heat it. But otherwise it was completely dead. "" he was already shivering "" He took Etain's shoulder and with another wobble of space-time, they were standing a couple of hundred yards away. "" he looked at Etain, uncertainly.

"I don't really have a natural state" replied Slick. "I just grow very fast, into one form or another. Quite what qualifies as my natural state at this point, I don't know. I'm not sure I would want to know, either. Probably just goop. " I really don't want to be just goop he conceded to himself. "And as its just growing, or shrinking, this way and that, its only humanoid forms. My muscles, bones, and organs all shift around, bits grow or shrink, and I look different. But that's as far as it goes. I can't turn into a chair, for instance, I still have four limbs, lungs, heart, and so on. At best I could take on a slightly wooden complexion, or wooden personality!" "Or you could sit on me?" he laughed, winked and patted his knee.
-
"I am 70 years old, born in 1940. I'm not sure I have a body to speak of. It changes as I wish. I grow, I shrink, my skin tone and shape changes, this is just something I grew into today" He held out his hand, palm upwards, and showed a line of oily lubricant streaking across it. "And, I sweat out this stuff when I change. And reabsorb it. I have had it analysed, of course. Its part of my physiology. Seems to be an organic petrochemical. " I'll leave off the gender change thing for now... he decided.
-
"Oh nothing for me thanks" replied Slick graciously and smiling back "you are too kind" He walked smoothly over to the seat and sat down, crossing his legs and taking a long look at Miss A. "Maybe you could trouble me to look absolutely gorgeous? Oh, my my, but of course! you are doing that already!" He took a look around the lab, taking in the various diagrams, print outs, and equipment. "I normally prefer brunettes, but somehow, blonde suits you. "

"" He touched Etain, and within a few seconds, a wobble occurred in space time, and they collapsed into the wormhole. They reappeared on a featureless rocky plain in twilight. Two distant suns shone a dim red in the horizon, and the stars in the night sky were few and faint. The air was cold, and thin, like a mountain top, and the gravity felt low. "<very far from civilisation. A few parsecs to the nearest star. And earth isn't even in this galaxy>" He breathed out. It was cold. "" "
-
"Delighted to be here, ma'am" replied Slick taking her hand, and placing a kiss on it. She was quite a beauty, he recalled. She smelt of perfume and vaguely of silicon and electonics... she must be quite a scientist under all that bombshell exterior. "Forgive me if I'm a bit nervous. Its been nearly ten years since my last check up, and I'm not fond of them. And of course, you are quite stunning, so that could make a man nervous too. " "That lab coat really augments your beauty still further" he laughed generously "I wouldn't have believed such a feat possible, but there you have it!"

"" " He gulped ""

Smash will work... probably with some nasty hex effect...

A DC 25 Knowledge (Arcane) would be enough to "disarm" the totem, so to speak. Ritualist is only required to mimic some spell.
-
You could certainly try something like that... up to you.

OOC Thread for this thread Miss A gives Slick a check up.

24th November 2010 Slick pulled up outside Archetech in his revved up Ferrari, and stepped up, dressed in an elegant casual jacket and slacks. Male, today, he had decided, on a whim. Well, actually, it had been the flip of a coin. It had been several decades before he had allowed any kind of medical testing on his unique physiology at all, and then only with great caution. He hadn't done any for several years - and then only at his own company. Archetech were cutting edge. After due to consideration, he had decided it was time for another check up, and they seemed the best bet. Perhaps they could shed some more light or insight into his condition.
