  1. Supercape made sure his adapted costume was neat and tidy. The blue and white motif was there, alongside a mask, but the cape had flowed seamlessly into a white lab coat - albeit one that was amazingly clean and almost sparkled. He stepped out of the lift on the ground floor. The huge hall was meant to, ultimately, be an expo hall, and it was more than halfway there. Small test crowds had already been allowed to peek at the demonstrations and shows, to general acclaim. However, today it had shut for the final stages of construction. He spotted his ward for the day in the reception area. He glanced at his PDA. White, Keeley E well, she seemed lively enough. He strode towards her. "Good afternoon, Ms. White. My name is..err..Professor Cape" he started, offering his hand.
  2. Supercape and Wander meet up and have a foursome...err... Fight the factor four over, that is. OOC Thread for this spiffy thread
  3. November 22nd 2010 Supercape was inspecting one of his lattices of quantum matter. the Lab was not yet fully complete, and had many teething problems, but it was operational. He really had to get down to the particle smasher in the sub levels and take a look at that... Glancing at his waistcoat watch (A nice new addition he had treated himself to, that tucked in nicely to his morphic costume), he noticed it was time to meet the public - in this case, some student had been assigned to him. He could have teleported down, but he decided to take advantage of one of the three elevators. May as well utlize the facility in full he thought. Ping. Going Down! Ground Floor! chimed the Lift.
  4. It is indeed an indirect attack!
  5. The principle here is that a few centuries ago, the Vatican made a pact with Una: for her help in destroying "witchcrafte". The pact would allow Una to circumnavigate her vow not to directly attack earth (somehow). The pact was sealed in several wardstones, and never actually completed. However, some breakaway cultists from the Vatican have no decided to rid the world of "witchcrafte" once and for all, and intend to use the wardstones to complete the pact. Is that kind of semi-logical? :?
  6. "" replied Quentin, unconsciously dipping into his slightly rusty German. Damn, that accent brings it out in me he conceded. "I am sure the proposed communal laboratory will be a smashing success. At least one helpful thing has come out of today. But what else was on your mind?"
  7. Supercape lowered himself down the hole. It didn't need supersmell to detect they were hitting the sewers. The smell was bad - very bad, but not overpowering. Climbing down some metal rungs he reached another, looser manhole, and opened it up to reach the sewers proper. It was a short drop - one he avoided by floating down gently into a damp underground pathway. It was pitch black, although he didn't need his eyes to feel the passageway around him and hear the sewage floating past him just a few feet away. "Come on down! its lovely!" he shouted at Etain, his voice booming down the tunnel. "Oops!" he said in a softer voice ""
  8. Slick was breathing hard, and had her characteristic oil streaks flowing down her body. "Too good for him" she commented, crouching down on her haunches and sniffing. "But I don't really want to think about it" she continued looking at the amorphous thing on the floor. "To be honest, I would rather just burn what's left of him and be done with the ashes. But I need to know what actually happened. What on earth caused this? Because we have to stop it in its tracks".
  9. "Very successful!" commented Supercape "we even played a spot of cricket! I can still bowl fairly decently, if I say so myself!" He started to work on the tea, heating the water with a pulse of microwaves that he created with the raise of an eyebrow. "Although I am not entirely sure my young friend here understands the rules... I would be happy to explain them again, of course..." He gave Jill a wink.
  10. "" said Quentin "" and with that, his jacket and clothes changed to that of a hooded monk, identical to the cultists they had just encountered. "" he mentioned, studying the map again. "" "" he continued, "". He kicked his foot along the dusty floor, and pulled back an old carpet. The faint outline of a steel manhole could be seen. "
  11. "Rusty? But still masterful" smiled Quentin. "And thankyou. Much appreciated. " "And as for next task, I am at your disposal" he said. "Whilst I am not to shabby at Latin, and know a smattering of philosophy and the like, all this arcane stuff is a mystery. I am a man of science, not hocus-pocus. " he hesitated "I mean, umm... magic, that is. " He coughed and adjusted his bow tie "anyway, what I am trying to say is, I suspect you have a clearer idea about what's going on that I. Nevertheless, my wit is keen and ready. For instance, I suspect we have to track down those three statuettes, and, as you imply, destroy them. " "Unless they are made of something truly extraordinary, I can destroy them, yes. Just uncouple the atomic bonds. May take a few seconds, or longer, but it won't be long before I can reduce stone to dust. "
  12. Seeing her nemesis again, Slick quickly jumped in front of him, swinging her fists in an attempt to once again beat the consciousness out of the mecurial lump of flesh. But this time his ever changing body was balanced, prepared, and quick, and he batted her blows away with limbs that seemed to bend at all the wrong directions. "I'll get you! you wont get away with this! Never, never, NEVER!" she roared, frustration only adding to her fury.
  13. "Etain" he mumbled uncertainly "I value my identity very passionately. I can do some extraordinary things. Normally, I wouldn't have done it as Professor Quill, but a man's life was in danger. " He paused, uncertain. "It looks like danger is still perusing us. And I will do what I can for the city, and to help you. But please understand I do not wish Professor Quill to be known as a man capable of such feats." He looked at her carefully. "Swear to me you will keep this secret?"
  14. "No no, my pleasure!" replied Supercape. He found the whole caper rather enjoyable. "I'm sure you would help out a fellow hero if the need came eh? No doubt I will crack a rib one day fighting Dr. Simian or some other nonsense, and perhaps you could patch me up? I'm not as young as I once was. Don't back so easy these days. Not like you virile youths!" As if to emphasise the point, upon entering Stesha's hut, he called out in a polite voice "any more tea going, dear?"
  15. "Ah yes, my thinky does seem a bit frazzled!" too put it mildly. It was like changing from an old black and white TV set to a 3D High Def full colour picture... "In that case" he proclaimed, "I should probably leave by regular measures. And I don't mean flying!" With a shimmering sparkle of light, he changed into the tweed jacket and bow tie of Professor Quill, and went to the door. "Toodle pip! for now!" he said, doffing an imaginary hat.
  16. Heh - yes, I mean activated. By implication, destroying them will nullify the contract.
  17. Yes: the wardstones are definately related to the centuries old pact. It they are used - not broken - but used - the contract will be sealed.
  18. I have just noticed a problem with Supercapes Quantum Hole: ESP 20 and Teleport 20 linked power as an array. I would appreciate some advice on this: The idea here was that as ESP would allow him to accurately sense a location, the Teleport 20 Long range would allow him to teleport to it. However, long range teleport is a full action, and ESP is concentration duration (standard action) - so he couldn't use these simultaneously! What is the ruling on this - would it mean he would need one round to scan (ESP) and then teleport (loosing the ESP as he takes the full action)? or should I buy up ESP to sustained duration (which solves the problem) If the latter, ESP needs a compensatory flaw: Ideally increasing the action to activate it - although this seems cheesy - distracting (which makes sense, and seems to be allowed at GM permission if you have an accurate sense that isnt being ESPd - visual and mental in SCs case), or as a last resort, Feedback (damaging attacks can affect him - although this would only make sense for energy attacks) EDIT: After discussing in chat: the best way to resolve is this: 1. Remove Radiation Immunity and Vacuum from Force field ( I will resolve this issue later) for 2 PP 2. Split the Quantum Hole into two separate APs (Quantum Hole and Quantum Entanglement) AP: Teleport 20 "Anywhere in the universe": (Extras: Accurate; Flaws: Long Range PFs: Change Velocity, Change Direction, Progression (Mass) 3 [1000lbs] + Supermovement 2 (Dimensional 2 [Any non-mystic] PFs: Profression (Mass) 2 [1000lbs]) 52 PPs AP: ESP 20 "Anywhere in the universe" (PFs: Dimensional 2 [Any non-mystic], Subtle) + Communication 20 "Anywhere in the Universe" (Radio medium; PFs: Dimensional 2 [Any non-mystic], Subtle, Variable descriptor -2 [Any energy medium]) 48 PPs That should put Supercape at 172/173 PP with 1 PP left over. Sorry for being a huge pain: I should have realised the problem with ESP and Teleport simultaneously. Edits done by Geez3r
  19. "HOWZAT!" yelled Supercape, without much rhyme or reason. "Well caught!" Noticing the earphones, he gave a disgruntled "hmph", but refrained from any comment. Petulance appears to be compulsory amongst youth today. Kids...Still, it does display a modicum of ingenuity and wit, even if its not quite "Oscar". "Excellent work. Malleable, adaptable, resilient. Overall, a useful talent, my dear girl!" he proclaimed. "Perhaps we should wake up the owner of the planet? I don't think there is much more I can say about your energy constructs. Although I can always take a look in a lab for further analysis - which may be valuable. "
  20. Quentin was slightly shocked at Etain's passionate stabbing, but just as furious. With a moments concentration, the quantum matter wall vanished. "" he commented, stopping to the fallen book. It was in an obscure and badly written Latin, with much of the writing obliterated. Nevertheless, the drawing seemed intact. Three small statuettes, placed in the sewers under Freedom City. Acting as ward's of some kind perhaps? "" he ventured.
  21. His fanatic will is inspiring! 1d20+2=21 As a minion, effect is for you to determine.
  22. Supercape dropped of the bleeding Rozello outside the ER, his tweed Jacket changing to a non-descript jogging suit and hood. Best keep incognito he thought. With another small fluctuation, he formed another quantum hole back to the Crypt, and unfolded space time to reappear where he had left Etain and the Monks. In the same shimmering act, his costume reformed back into his classic tweed jacket and bow tie. "" he said to Etain " He looked at the two monks with the contempt deserved of murderers. In the name of God. Despicable. "
  23. GM The two monks looked at each other. The first, who presumably was at least a token leader, spat at Etain, although the spittle only dripped off the quantum matter that separated them. "Witch!" he cried. "" He trembled at the sight of Etain's cutlass. "Soon, we will complete the Contract of the Snake! then, all witchcrafte will be purged from Earth! Three totems remain! Once these are broken, then judgement awaits you!"
  24. "Ah. Yes. Well. Umm" mumbled a flustered Supercape, tangled up in his cape on the floor. "I'm sorry, its just everything seems that much clearer now. Easier. Vivid. I can't describe it really... I'm like a living antenna. Everything is just parting and shifting. " He coughed and stood up. "Inspiration hit me. It struck me that if I... look..." he grabbed a pencil and paper and started scribbling down some complex mathematics "if the entanglement occurs here, and by causing nth degree fractal heisenbergian compensation without wavestring collapse... then we divide by C to the nth power, where n is the observer dimensional collapse..." After a few more scrawls, he finished the equations. "Oh!" he commented. "Well, hypothetically, the quantum hole could reach, well, anywhere. Not just in this universe either. " "Rather exciting!" he beamed. He looked at the strewn cases on the floor. "Needs a bit of practice, of course. "
  25. "Hmm" murmured Supercape. He reached out with his mind, calibrating the weight of each case, and doing the same with Miss America. It was easier, although not necessary, with his eyes clothes. "491 pounds" he commented, his eyes still closed. Placing one hand on the cases, and one hand on Miss Americana, he reached out with his mind again. It was all a case of entanglement. He could see it clearly now. All wavestrings connected. A quantum hole he thought, naming it even as he formed it with his mind. No mass, no energy, and dubious existence. Just a connection between two points in space time. And with it, he rode the waves of energy between the two points. He could feel, like a radar, the outline of Miss Americana's laboratory. "Got it" he murmured. "Hold still. I can see this a lot more clearly now". After a slight wobble and blur, and with a collapse of their own physical state, they folded in on themselves, together with the cases... ...reappearing instantly at Miss Americana's laboratory.
