  1. "Oh don't mind me, I'm just a foolish old man!" replied Felix, disarmingly. "But you never know, I may join you for a little dip later on. I can still do a mean breast stroke" he laughed, hoping the journalist would loosen up. "Come on in, join the party, have some fun! and do drink the champagne, my dear, it is a most excellent vintage. I'm sure there are various people you want to mingle with for your magazines and articles and so on, but its just as much about you and letting your hair down!" He put his arm round her and smiled for a hired cameraman who took a shot of them. "And speaking of letting ones hair down, I must briefly excuse myself" he said, wandering over to the long haired Dr de Havilland. "Good evening, so glad you could make it!" said Felix, pecking her cheek. "Felix Fassbinder at your service. What a delight it is to have you here!" he snapped his fingers as another slightly saucy waitress came with some caviar. "Would you care for some caviar with your champagne?"
  2. "Ummm, yes... sparkly..." replied Supercape, aware that he had put his foot on it. Ironically, it was precisely because she appeared intelligent that he didn't want to get technical. He gave the blue ball she had created an experimental poke. Looked solid enough. "Jolly good stuff, that!" he nodded. "So, the stuff I produce, well, aside from being sparkly and keeping out the rain..." he smiled at her, hoping she would see he really meant no insult. "Cages, for nasty fellows who shouldn't be let out!" and with a flash, a small cage appeared a few yards away. "Defensive walls, for when you are getting shot at!" he continued, and with another flash, a wall appeared. "Bowls, for catching falling things, like maidens in distress!" he winked, as a floating bowl a few metres wide appeared above them. "And chairs, for when I need a little sit down!" he laughed, sitting on a three legged stool that had appeared behind him.
  3. "Delighted to meet you, all, especially the beautiful Etain!" replied Felix. Giving her a peck on the back of the hand. "Will you excuse me one moment young man?" asked Felix of Corbin, spotting the remarkable Ms. Collier amongst the guests queuing up. He called over the rock star, a man named "Sleaze McRock", who sauntered over, still wearing his shades over his eyes and two groupies on either arm. "Please meet my young friend Corbin Hughes" he said, and, turning to Corbin, said introduced the rocker to Corbin, whispering in his ear "sing's like a drowning cat if you ask me, but he is cunning as a fox, knows how to play the crowd and the business. Quite a sharp mind, as long as he dosen't indulge to much. " Grabbing a champagne flute, he rushed over to Ms. Collier, and pulled her out of the queue. "Madam, you simply must join the party!" he insisted, pressing the drink into his hand. He wasn't overly fond of journalists, as a rule, but this lady was of course something of a star. "We have an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi inside, perhaps you may like to relax there later, once the party gets going?" he winked at her good naturedly.
  4. I would expect nothing less!
  5. "Ah yes, of course!" replied Felix "and please, don't call me Sir! makes me feel old, and the night is still young!" Passing a flute of champagne to Corbin's parents, he continued "So, what are you up to, son? following in your parents footsteps? I could use those to brains in my own company, truth be told. If you have any of their business sense, I could probably use yours too!" He nodded at a few more guests, raising his champagne glass at them. A couple of B-grade hollywood actresses (all shoes, short skirts, and a little too much make up), A senator (eyeing up the previous), a rock star with several young attractive lady friends, and a businessman (with what was quite possibly a female hired for the evening to make him look younger). Felix didn't really approve, but he had lived for long enough amongst this world that he accepted it too.
  6. Link to reputation DC for Felix Fassbinder and his company I imagine this would probably be Knowledge (Business) for one off instant understanding, with Gather Information if doing some research before the party, or indeed by schmoozing with people at the party but taking longer. KD, Cobalt may wish to make a roll here.
  7. Felix went out to the hallway. Some dribs and drabs had arrived. Nobody really important, but enough that the band were playing, drinks had been poured, and conversations started. The party was not warm, but it was warming up. Aha, the Hughes family! He had had some superficial dealings with them in the business world. Very competent business people, both husband and wife. He had thought about head hunting them for Fassbinder pharmaceuticals. Maybe I still will said the businessman in him. He didn't know them all that well personally, but he had heard good words. Walking over to them, he took Mr. Hughes by the hand and gave his wife a slightly saucy peck on the cheek. "Why Mrs. Hughes! You look ravishing! almost as handsome as your husband!" he joked with a twinkle in his eye. "And I would Imagine this is your son? I had no idea he was 18 allready!" he continued, shaking hands with Corbin. "Felix Fassbinder" he said, introducing himself. "Champagne?" he asked, clicking his finger at a waitress who came with three full glasses.
  8. GM "Well" replied Ms. Well, gently sipping a gin and tonic that had so far been untouched "the dimensional vehicle has been transported to the Institute of metaphysical research. It should not be long before it is operational, although I dare say I shall have to do the final calibrations myself. " "As for the readings" she said, brandishing Carries tube and inserting it into her bronze device "the difference engine here should quadrangulate the source. One down, three to go. I imagine the second is on its way given the commotion outside. "
  9. GM The inside of the pub was pleasantly warm, and the atmosphere jovial. It seemed to have a fair few policemen in it, some off duty, some perhaps resting their feet for a bit longer than normal. "Coppers" Ms. Wells had called them. Must a policeman's pub - very safe. Beer, Cider and Gin were all flowing freely, along with several other drinks, and cigarettes were being smoked by many. Ms. Wells sat in the corner, fiddling with a bronze plated device that had two copper spiral wires coming out of the top, and several cogwheels. Seeing Carrie, she gave her a jaunty wave "Hello my dear! nice to see you wrapped up warm!" she gestured to her device "temperature continuing to drop, I'm afraid. " Cocking her head slightly, she heard the foursome outside "whatever is that noise? God save the King? rather unusual style... rather catchy I suppose. "
  10. GM "Right you are Mr. Edge, Sir! Although it is the King these days sir!" saluted Paul, and turning to his fellow musicians, he counted them in.. "A One, A Two, A One two three four..." An up-tempo, jazzed up version of God save the King rang through the cold air as the fabulous foursome exited the cab. Carrying there instruments and playing at the same time, they dutifully followed Edge. Meanwhile, Cabbsy grinned from ear to ear "Gawd bless you sir! most generous of you sir! right gent you are sir, and no mistake sir!" as the cab wheeled off down the road a massive cry of "Woohoo!" could be heard from his lips.
  11. OK so thread is now up here! Confirmed attendees: Doc A Miss A (no relation) Cobalt Templar Gossamer Anyone else wanting attend, this will not be a closed thread - providing you have a reason to come / be invited (see above - this can be pretty much anyone) - feel free to attend. Anyone wanting a particular story or caper, let me know, I will try to arrange.
  12. For all OOC stuff. No combat is anticipated, but plenty of social rolls, skullduggery, manipulation, charm, and even seduction may be! NB: Whilst several people have confirmed for this thread, anyone else wanting to join can do so - but would be best to intro in on this thread. NB again: Anyone wanting a particular story or intrigue in the party, pm, I will try to orchestrate it (no promises!)
  13. 6th November, 7:00 p.m. The butlers and caterers were ready, the drinks plentiful, and the entertainment varied and, well, hopefully entertaining. Felix Fassbinder wandered around his mansion doing a few last minute inspections, and the very rare adjustment. He had always liked a party, and didn't really need an excuse to throw a wild one now and again. At the mansion gates, a few maids, in slightly saucy outfits stood ready to greet the guests, armed with champagne glasses and bottles of excellent vintage. A jazz-classical fusion three piece string group, in black tie were sprucing up a selection of classical music. The mansion was illuminated and laser lights played across the sky. A small gambling table offering black jack, poker, and craps had been erected in the main hall. Felix was dressed in a magnificent dinner jacket with the colours reversed - white jacket, trousers, and bow tie, and jet black bow tie. He fingered one of the invitations, in gold print... Autumnal Celebrations F. Fassbinder cordially invites you to an evening of music, champagne, entertainment, and celebration at his Mansion. Come on over and enjoy yourself for one wild night! V.I.P. and 18+ Only
  14. Slick was used to odd transformations of flesh, her own "natural" form, never used, was hardly a model of normality. However, this was over and above the mutant hermaphroditic body she was born with. This was just plain warped. It was like looking in a house of mirrors. The adrenaline and rage was galvanised her, despite the shock. With a few mighty steps, she had careered into the boss, and her powerful arm sunk into the heaving mass of flesh with all her momentum behind her. To slick, it felt like punching a sack of potatoes - she had no idea what it felt like to the recipient.
  15. In which case I think Slick is up first... And certainly dosen't feel like getting grappled like that guy, so its oil time for a free action (Enhanced Escape Artist activation, more for fluff than anything else...) Then, going in for a massive "power attack" punch, as I presume the guy is flat footed - no feat, but dropping -2 att for +2 damage. 1d20+5=12 Scratch that, hero point time! 1d10+15=18 lordy, not much better... but should hit a flat footed boss (I hope!) If it does, DC 24 Toughness save.
  16. GM Hyde Park: Joe Macayle and the Macaylites As Cannonade shifted through the crowd, he received, at various junctures, rounds of applause, the odd jostle, tugs on his sleeve, back slaps, and words of abuse, encouragement, or questioning. "I think Macayle lad is on to something" "If we could just get organised, form a committee..." "Forward with Macaylitism!"
  17. Supercape coughed and eyed up the teen. He was just about to launch into a rambling lecture on M-theory, false vacuum states, observer entanglement, and heisenbergian compensation, when it struck him that this young lady may in fact be brighter than she looked, and such information was precisely the kind of information he shouldn't impart if he wanted the canopy to remain existing. "Its quantum stuff! very strong, very tough, and very very existing!" he mumbled. He coughed again. "I can shift around atoms and wavestring states. Lots of scientific mumbo jumbo and all that. Don't want to get too technical" I really don't want to get too technical. "The important thing is, how do you create that blue stuff?"
  18. 1d20+3=15 from Slick... Who has a DEX of 16 which is tie breaker in these situations if I remember correctly?
  19. "Thank goodness for that. It still... exists. That's right, exists. Which is most definitely what this stuff actually does, exists. It's very important you remember this stuff does actually exist. " Supercape breathed a sigh of relief. As he suspected, unless someone really observed very hard then the stuff wouldn't realise it didn't exist, and therefore do so. He could with a cup of tea after that, and said so.
  20. "Spiffing!" agreed Quentin, delighted with both himself and Stesha's reaction. Hope we don't get any world experts in quantum physics asking to many questions about it, mind he added to himself. "Errr, by the way, that coffee mug I left here last time" he asked, as innocuously as possible "still got that, I suppose?"
  21. Cursing again he hadn't come as Supercape, Quentin piped up "That sounds like a splendid idea! I am sure by pooling intellectual resources of those present, and..um...perhaps other caped heroes too... that our scientific endeavours will be all the more fruitful!" Don't invite Liebniz he added to himself, watching the older scientist furrow his brow, plotting how he could twist this to his advantage. Supercape really could use some proper facilities to work out what the hell was quantum matter, anyway.
  22. Feel free to let it spin and whistle at your hearts content!
  23. "What was that?" snapped Slick, pumped up from the fight and the fury. "The Boss?" Barely thinking from the red mist over her eyes, she bounded up the stairs to the front door, flinging it open. "So who thinks they can use human beings like guinea pigs? Nobodies can do that and get away with it, no matter how big they think they are!!!"
  24. Ok, looks like it is time to reassamble for finale. Edge and Sil are back. Grim is still with Blake but should be back soonish? Cannonade and the Cannonites are at Hyde Park, suggest thats wrapped soonish too.

    The Lab

Excellent stuff! Liking the rumours (for possible expansion). I'm going to refine what you did and do a floor level guide, with a few expansions! Sublevels -5 to -9: High Security / Classified Operations. Holding Cells / Nullification devices, Dimensional scanner. All "high risk" operations. Sublevel -4: A large circular high energy particle collider. This took some persuasion to build, as its safety is disputed. No accidents have happened, yet. Sublevels -2 to -3: Fusion Reactor and Engineering for the Lab. This includes powering its "privacy" field, that can selectively close off areas of the Lab to sensors and remote viewing. Sublevel -1: Underground Garage, parking and associated engineering and maintenance / research, with ramp leading up to ground level. Access to the Sublevels is restricted. Ground levels - Floor 3: Public Access and Expo. Ground level is an Expo type open gallery. Levels 1 and 2 are lecture halls, meeting rooms, which can either be rented or are utilised for liason type work with the public and other agencies. Small automated cafe for public. Floor 4: Administration and Personnel. The Lab has a small retinue of cleaners, administrators, and maintenance workers who all operate on this semi secure level. Floor 5: Reading Room and Library. Essentially a storage for all written material that has not been scanned, this has a distinctively antiquarian feel to the rest of the Lab, and partially serves as a place of quiet study and relaxation. It is entirely on one level with no separate rooms. It is semi-secure and sometimes accessed by the public. Floors 6 and above are restricted. Floor 6 - 10: Braniac Bunch private offices and living quarters (including facilities for several guest resident or visiting scientists). Floor 11-12: Medical research and infirmary. Whilst small, this is a high tech facility. It is used just as much for biological research as treatment and diagnosis. Floors 13-14: Mainframe Housing and Support. Mainly for engineering purposes rather than actually using the computer. For some reason, there have been several glitches in systems on Floor 13, so back ups are available on Floor 14. Includes communication systems. Floor 15-16: Simulator Suites. Two separate levels that can simulate, by hologram and other machinery, a variety of different environments. Floors 17-26: 10 floors of the Main research laboratories and workshops. These are highly varied and encompass most realms of science. Floors 27-30 Are separate only in that they have different level walkways. This area is reserved for working on Air/Space vehicles. The top of the Lab can open up to accommodate these vehicles.
