Gabriel had followed close behind Velocity as she made her way to the island. But whereas she continued inland, he found a sheltered stretch of the Bay's shore to land on. He needed a few moments of focus, and dodging monsters larger and small precluded "focus" quite a bit. The spear was just there to help prop him up, and completely not a psychological aide to ease his nerves about being here. Totally. His eyes closed and his ears "opened" as he swept his hearing across large swaths of the island, until suddenly his eyes snapped open and he smiled. His voice echoed in the ears of Comrade Frost and Velocity. "Found the scientists. Getting coordinates now. Probably ought to escort them back to the bay." He closed his eyes again, and this time his voice was just above a whisper, heard only by the stranded scientists. "Ladies and gentlemen, please do not be alarmed. This is the hero known as Gabriel. I am part of a rescue party here on the island to bring you to safety. What is your location; speak, and I shall hear, and no need to shout or even speak loudly. If you can give us GPS coordinates that would be most helpful, but some landmarks and rough distances will work well enough. Just hold on a little longer, and you'll be back on the ship." He waited for their response, hoping they didn't panic too much.

Hahaha yeah no way, especially since he uses Teleport not Speed. He can't "keep up", and he has no idea where Harrow is going...

Gabriel watched as one by one, the "forward teams" slipped from the helicopter. His eyes betrayed just a touch of worry; the plan was sound, but splitting up in these conditions meant they faced greater risk. His eyes closed for a moment, and he unconsciously put his hand near the rosary tucked inside his costume. A silent prayer passed his lips, before he opened his eyes and his voice reached out to the other heroes for just a moment. It was something they knew he could do, so it shouldn't shock them overmuch. "Stay safe and go with God, everyone. Holler if you need backup, and we'll be there."

Between birthday celebrations with friends today (for all March birthdays, and followed by possibly other things, who knows) and church and gaming tomorrow, probably not going to be around much the next couple of days.

It didn't take more than a moment for Velocity to move out of the Baron's effective range of vision due to her speed, something that caused his eyes to narrow just a bit. He didn't like not having a full picture of what was going on. In the middle of one of his company's buildings... He marched with purpose into the lab, gesturing for the two technicians to leave. <Situation Epsilon Orange. Confirmation Code: Alpha-Alpha Seven Bravo Mike Mike 5. Move out with Guard Bernhard. Now, please, people.> With those few crisp sentences in Swedish, the Baron turned from the room and exited with purpose. He moved off down the side hall he had earlier indicated to Velocity, and indeed he was quickly in the totally-empty situation room. But he didn't intend to sit by while something like this was going on in his own "house". He closed his eyes for but a moment, and all cameras and sensors in the room shut off, as well as in the hall leading back to the lab. Best not to give anyone nosy too easy of a time looking into matters...

Taking 2 Move Actions to go in, order evac, then leave to go off down a side hall not being used. Also invoking the Responsibility complication. I'd say I was invoking Secret (Identity) as well, though it's not technically listed (it is a secret, though!).

Just for completeness's sake... Note that Gabriel's Area Enhanced Hearing can only pick up Speech. So if they're unconscious or not talking at all, it won't do anything. Anyways. First check: 30

Gabriel studied the maps on display for a moment, thinking through some things in his head. "I can listen to about 20 square miles at a time, if one or more of them is conscious. If they are, I can then communicate with them without disturbing island inhabitants. It's not foolproof, but it might just save us some time. And worst case, Velocity will be searching on foot. No matter what, we can be set. But if we can save time, with that weather heading in...I'm all for it." He smirked a bit at Velocity's comment about staying sub-sonic. "Yeah, we should probably either stay well below Mach 1...or break Mach 5."
-
How large is Kaiju Island overall, and how far away from the ship are they? I'm asking here because I figure the basic distances are something we'd have on display in the briefing.

"I'm glad I won't have to take my glove off to-" He stopped, and his gaze snapped to Victory's own as the mention of having his DNA on file clicked. "Right.I suppose AEGIS would have DNA files on heroes...Out of curiosity, where did you happen upon mine? I'm typically pretty meticulous during hero work." The smile he gave didn't quite reach his eyes. "Except for when I'm being nearly disemboweled by super-zombies, or otherwise left the one broken and bleeding on the concrete after barely winning over my opponents. Sadly I lack the ability to summon fire when I want to wash away bloodstains."
-
I would rather they not know his secret identity. I'm fine with them having confirmed "this is the hero Gabriel's DNA" with the League for security purposes or whatnot. Just not in them then knowing who Gabriel is without the mask.

Gabriel was quiet during the briefing, though the explanation of the full impact of this upcoming event was enough to make his already-pale face look almost unhealthy for a moment. He also seemed unusually nervous, fidgeting in his seat now and again. When Dr. Sato finished her initial explanation, he spoke up. "Begging your pardon, ma'am, but...part of me wonders about my particular presence here in regards to stopping the eruption. Gaian Knight is an obvious choice, and I'd wager Fleur de Joie and Comrade Frost present unique options if the need arose. But...well, unless you want me to try blasting holes in the sides of that volcano with sound, something I have no idea of the impact of for good or ill, it seems to me like a search for the missing team would be a better use of my talents. I could perhaps try speaking with them on the island, if they're conscious. I don't require radio waves to do so, and at most I'd only need to get a bit closer. It wouldn't spook the..." His nervous pause was rather obvious. "Inhabitants. I can be subtle in that way. Speaking of which...are there any..."Do's and Don't's" with regards to the creatures for which this island is named? I realize we theoretically shouldn't end up facing them, but my experience says there's at least a chance we might. Any insight would be appreciated."

"We've been breached and compromised. Someone is impersonating my voice." The Baron's eyes were like chips of ice as he looked directly into the guard's own gaze. When he spoke next it was in Swedish, for just a bit more security. <Guard Bernhard, Confirmation Code: Alpha-Alpha Seven Bravo Mike Mike 5. Situation Epsilon Orange, just like you trained for. We're spreading the sitrep word of mouth. Doctor Ridderwall is heading to Room 20. I would suggest you head in that direction. Now. Fenris is en route to assist Velocity in taking care of the threat; I will be providing support from the nearest situation room. Tune your personal radio to Band 5, but be aware those might be compromised. If possible get word to the town police we've got an Epsilon Orange, and they'll be able to take care of things from that point on. We'll get it all sorted.> He turned back to Velocity, one hand idly tapping at the keyboard next to the security monitors. Characters started to flow over the screen. "I'm going to do my best to get the door unlocked from here, but I will probably need to use the Situation Room nearby; it has priority access over local security desks. If that doesn't work, you and Fenris have my full permission to break the door down. Try not to wreck the whole lab, though. Some of those tools are expensive."
-
The Baron was no speedster, but he was in remarkably good shape, and keeping a good jogging pace for all of that. When Velocity mentioned running through walls, he visibly winced. "Please don't. There are a variety of sensitive experiments going on in this facility that could be disrupted in one way or another by that. And the lab with the watch like has more than just metal in your way." He pulled out his palmtop and typed a few things as he jogged. "Hrm. Looks like the impostor has the less-than-lethal defenses at least partially online. I'll have to disable them when they're close." He glanced toward Velocity with a wry grin. "One plus of my work is meeting a lot of you hero types. One of them has had me give him some technical assistance, and in return when supervillains or the like inevitably target my company, he tries to be available to help. I just sent him a signal, and he should be here rather soon; he's not quite as fast as you, but he's pretty quick on his feet nonetheless. His name's Fenris, and if you haven't heard of him he looks a bit like a big metal werewolf. But don't tell him I described him that way to you." He gave the heroine a knowing wink with a more natural grin as he started to slow his pace. "Almost there now."

So, uh, something just occurred to me. If AEGIS has Gabriel's DNA on file well enough to scan it into this card-thingy...do they know his secret identity?
-
The Baron's eyes narrowed, and his posture shifted slightly. Someone who didn't know him well might label his current countenance "annoyed". Doctor Ridderwall would correctly identify it as "a fury cold enough to freeze an ocean". "Someone using my voice to keep my employees in danger? Unacceptable." He closed his eyes, tapping his chin in thought. "The physical shields will be in place, but those can be hacked or simply destroyed. The Bakelite won't deploy with living beings in the room without a 52-digit access code input by my fingerprints within 25 seconds. We have perhaps minutes before the Stopwatch is completely unsecure, and some unknown party totally willing to impersonate me has access to it." He whirled to face Ridderwall. "Ridderwall, take the Inspector to Rom 20. Anyone you meet along the way, tell them it's a Code Epsilon-Orange, and that you had direct contact with me. You know the passcode. I will escort Miss Velocity to the lab." He turned to the heroine, knowing that the good Doctor would follow the orders, sensible that they were to get himself and the Inspector to a safe room. He gestured for Velocity to follow his fast jog through the halls. "You'll need my access codes, just in case. Even if they've "gained control", I designed half the OS here along with two-thirds of the security protocols."

Gabriel had mostly succeeded at not making a scene when arriving on board. He'd made sure to take care with the proper boarding procedures, and gotten away from the flight deck as quickly as he could. Honestly, for all that he tossed sound around as a weapon, the flight deck was a bit loud for his taste. He was currently down in one of the galleys of the ship, having a light snack (while it hadn't taken him overly long, the flight over had been rather intense, and he'd had to circle a bit to properly find the ship itself). He needed to "refuel" a bit, and he found he enjoyed chatting with the military personnel. It seemed like having a superhero sitting down for lunch with them was not an everyday occurrence, so if nothing else it broke up the monotony of life for them a bit!
-
Magnus chuckled again at Ridderwall's enthusiasm. "I trust your guesses, Doctor. They haven't steered us wrong yet." He frowned as "shielding" was mentioned. "Have you noticed any EM interference on the lower-" And then suddenly Velocity was standing in front of them demanding they stop immediately. He blinked, tilting his head to the side for a moment. He recognized her costume, and she was indeed one of the people listed as being in the League. So really, there was only one response. He pulled out his palm computer, pressed a few buttons, and then walked over to a nearby (convenient) intercom/phone. He picked up the handset from the cradle and spoke calmly and clearly. His voice could be heard over the speakers scattered throughout the building. "This is the Baron. We are initiating a Code Orange lockdown of the stopwatch artifact. Repeat, Code Orange Lockdown. All personnel move to the designated locations in the building. Open a line with the primary labs. Security please make sure Lord Harrow is in the appropriate location. The artifact is to be secured with Level 3 barriers." He put the handset back in the cradle as he turned to face the others in the hall. "Everyone will be escorted out of the building to secured shelters nearby, just in case. Lord Harrow will be routed to his temporary residence a bit further into town. The stopwatch artifact is currently being isolated by a shell of alternating carbon-kevlar mix plates and high-grade titanium steel, with an outer shell of tungsten steel. If necessary, we can flood the entire room with fast-setting Bakelite. Now, there's a secure situation room back this way if that's alright. Once there you can explain a bit more what the danger is and how we can best approach the situation."
-
Normally I would say Gabriel would be slightly impatient and fly ahead. But... -He doesn't know exactly where he's going. -"Kaiju Island" sounds like a "take your friends along" place, and he can't drag them all. -He always wanting to ride around in an Aircraft carrier! So, yeah, he's on the ship. :-D
-
Baron Katastrof hunched inside his thick fur-lined coat, goggles keeping his eyes from drying out (as well as helping with the blowing snow from the helicopter and the glare from the snow) as he walked inside, holding the door for the Inspector. He greeted any employees they encountered with a smile and handshakes, before Doctor Ridderwall came upon him. He shook the scientist's hand with a smile. "Good work so far, Doctor. What results did the carbon dating give? How old is this thing? What sorts of alloys is it made of? Did the ultrasounds get a better idea of its internal structure?" He paused at the "beyond this world" comment, raising an eyebrow. "Would you say that's a literal or figurative statement, Doctor? Do you believe the technology is Terran in origin, but simply from the future or someone stuck in the past with superior tools and knowledge? Or do you think it from some other individual or group beyond the bounds of our mother-planet?" He paused, then smirked at the Doctor and Inspector. "Or is it both?"
-
Gabriel takes the extra cards and tucks them away, holding the original in his hands. He gives it a thoughtful look. "Right. Touch the card, get a button, hold a finger on the button, it calls you. That's what I needed." He waggled his gloved fingers with a smirk. "Hope it works through gloves." He nods at Victory's next set of words. "Fleur was, of course, part of the League for a long time. She helped Gaian Knight and myself join up. In fact, it was that mission, the one that secured our place in the League, where we encountered the Steelgrave clone... Ah, yes, the bees. They're doing quite well now." As Gabriel wasn't sure how much Victory knew of Sanctuary, and was unsure how much Fleur might be comfortable with Gabriel sharing about it, he refrained from directly speaking about it.
-
Gabriel nodded at the terms and Omen's words. "That's enough time to catch a bite or take care of other matters." Unless stopped, he would head down the hall toward the lunchroom, stopping for only a few moments in the men's room. After that, he'd swing into the lunch room. There, he gave nods and greetings to the agents and staff moving about. He himself grabbed a couple of bottles of water (tucking one away into a pocket of his coat) and a thick sandwich. He found a free seat in a corner of the room, doing his best to ignore the stares surely directed toward him. The sandwich didn't quite "disappear", but it definitely didn't take long before it was consumed, along with the water bottle. The hero in white grabbed a couple breath mints on the way to the hangar, and it was about 12 minutes after the group had gone their separate directions that he arrived in the boarding area.

Presence will be spotty for the next couple of days. I'll be out and about through at least the day itself today, and tomorrow is both church and gaming again. You'll probably see me in the later evenings, but that's about all I can promise.
