  1. Right then. Since GK has the gibberers busy, and the fleshy Captain is down, time for the Android. Free Actions: All-Out Attack: 2 (free version), so Attack is +14, Defense is +10 Power Attack: 2, so Attack is +12, Save DC is 29 Standard Action: Charge, so Attack is back up to +14, Defense is down to +8. Attacking with the Spear, so a Melee Attack: 20. Argh, nope. I've got 2HP left, so. Hero Point Reroll: 28 DC 29 Toughness Save.
  2. I blame Gizmo. And my obsessive brain. But mostly Gizmo. Cobalt Templar' Party Emboar ♂ Machoke ♂ Charmeleon ♂ Nature: Adamant Nature: Hasty Nature: Bold Ability: Reckless Ability: Guts Ability: Blaze Moves: Flare Blitz Moves: Karate Chop Moves: Fire Fang Flame Charge Low Kick Dragon Claw Arm Thrust Bulk Up Incinerate Fire Punch Focus Blast Fire Blast Corbin was gifted a young Tepig by an uncle from Arkansas when he was still a young lad, just as his love of history was starting to bud. The two spent many long hours reading books (usually with the small Pokemon perched on the suddenly-growing boy's shoulder). While he didn't really ever try to purposefully get Tepig into battles, the firey 'mon's nature meant it got into a few scraps in its days. It was with him when he found the Blue Ring, and the surge of energy, combined with the sudden danger of the collapsing cave, caused it to evolve into Pignite. Of course, things couldn't quite be typical for the bookish pair, and Pignite found himself colored blue and wielding blue flames that were eerily similar to the power of his friend's new ring. The two took to training together, a habit that continued into their time on Young Freedom, and one that helped the old friends bond with the newer members of Corbin's party. Pignite evolved into Emboar during Young Freedom's climatic battle with Omega, and found himself helping "ride herd" on YF 2.0 and their eclectic Pokemon. Currently he tends to stay at either Corbin's house, or the new forest hideout/vault, content to let the "new guys" go patrol with Corbin while he "holds down the fort". If CT's expecting a big fight, though, his oldest friend will be sure to tag along... Machoke's early days aren't something the brawny Pokemon talks about, and Corbin's content to leave it at that. He met the blue powerhouse early in his hero career; he stopped a couple of muggers that were hitting a shop across the street from the gym where Machoke worked out and sparred. After CT was finished, Machoke challenged him to an arm-wrestling contest that ended in a draw. For a time, CT would swing by the gym once a week for some sparring, followed by another arm wrestling match. Their win-loss ratio stayed pretty even, while CT and Pignite struck up a strong friendship with the brawny martial artist. Eventually, Machoke asked to join them in their fight against evil (just a couple months before their journey across time, space, and dimensions). After the epic multi-dimensional mission to save Existence, Machoke was "hooked" on hero work, and has assigned himself CT's new "chief crime-fighting partner". While perhaps over-eager, his skill and strength have only grown, and he continues to be an excellent person to have at your back when outnumbered. When Corbin joined Claremont, Headmaster Summers asked him to take on a Charmander who'd been waiting for a partner for a while. It was an uneasy beginning, with Charmander feeling jealous of Pignite's history with Corbin, as well as its unique coloration. Still, a friendship slowly formed, and was helped by Corbin working hard to make sure Charmander was in every training session, on every patrol, and on every mission, come hell or high water. Of course, when Entropy ate Everything, Charmander found himself along for a wild ride, culminating in the near-deadly adventure on Wander's dead world. When Corbin was confronted with the terrible mockery of his lover, it was Charmander who stepped forward and blasted the she-zombie with a bolt of blue-hot fire, it's body shaking with indignant rage. When the flames faded, there stood a royal blue Charmeleon with a bright blue tail flame and determination in its eyes. Evolution seemed to mellow out his early moodiness, though if anything he's gotten more eager to fight the good fight as time has gone on. He and Trevor's Houndoom have gotten into joint trouble on occasion, and he showed an ornery streak during the YF 2.0 era by actively helping a couple of pranks targeting Corbin...or other members of the team. Gabriel's Party Pidgeot ♀ Staraptor ♂ Braviary ♂ Nature: Calm Nature: Impish Nature: Brave Ability: Keen Eye Ability: Intimidate Ability: Defiant Moves: Fly Moves: Quick Attack Moves: Fly Round Echoed Voice Round Aerial Ace Astonish Leer Feather Dance Uproar Crush Claw Lucario ♀ Grumpig ♂ Nature: Hasty Nature: Hardy Ability: Inner Focus Ability: Own Tempo Moves: Metal Claw Moves: Confuse Ray Flash Cannon Psychic Aura Sphere Psyshock Drain Punch Torment Bevin Keefe was well-known in Limerick for helping maintain a home for a couple flocks of Pidgy-line Pokemon, and had a Pidgeotto as a companion. One of that Pidgeotto's young chicks bonded with Carson when he was just a couple years old, and the two were often seen toddling about the house and yard, playing and laughing. As Carson grew, Pidgey often helped keep an eye on him, assigning itself as an "older sister" (despite virtually no age difference). It grew into a Pidgeotto when he was in high school, and was present with him when the Archangel Gavriel gifted Carson his powers. The brave bird Pokemon was also given a touch of divine power, and grew into a Pidgeot that same night. The two of them worked hard to keep the matter a secret, with Pidgeot taking to wearing a silvery mask when working with Gabriel. When he received his heaven-forged armor, Pidgeot was given a light set of armor for its head and body, one that shrank into a silver crucifix necklace that she wears day-to-day. She's often seen in classes with Carson, keeping an eye on unruly students (and Staraptor), and is the "team mom" at this point (which also means she and Sonya get along famously, a fact that occasionally causes consternation for Gabriel). When working with Carson in his hero persona, he refers to her as the "Silver Pidgeot", a slightly unimaginative name that gets an eye-roll and an affectionate tap from a wing. Carson met Staraptor in college, where it was an aspiring actor with grand dreams. A friendship formed, though Carson found Staraptor's ego occasionally frustrating. Still, their shared love of theater and the dramatic meant they often collaborated on short stage pieces; Pidgeot was occasionally found hiding her face under her wing at their antics on stage. When Staraptor discovered the hero work of Gabriel and Pidgeot, he insisted on joining. While they were at first unsure, the dashing bird-type quickly showed a talent for fast attacks, and had a few sound-based attacks that synced well with Gabriel's own powers. Staraptor's the most likely of Carson's "flock" to get into trouble, often by being overly dramatic, or by flirting with lady Pokemon. It insisted on a disguise for when it went out with them, and currently wears a silvery bandanna across its eyes, with long tassels in the back that flap dramatically in the breeze (just like it wants). For all it's showmanship, more than a few criminals have found themselves knocked senseless underestimating it, and its loyalty to Carson is unwavering. Braviary was already a protector of Southside when Gabriel first came to Freedom City, though it tended to focus more on crimes involving Pokemon (whether as victim or perpetrator). At first, they simply had a respectful working dynamic (barring Staraptor's occasional drama moments), but as time went on they worked together more and more often. When Gabriel stopped the attack of the Red and Black Devil gangs at the rally, Braviary was quickly on-scene, helping Pidgeot and Staraptor fend off the twisted undead Pokemon the necromancers had summoned. By the end, Gabriel and Staraptor were nearly dead, and Pidgeot and Braviary weren't far behind; all of them rested and recuperated on Sanctuary in the company of Fleur de Joie. After that, Braviary joined the rag-tag group of flying heroes, deciding they were its new "flock". While just as willing to leap into danger as Staraptor, Braviary is overall a more reserved member of the group. He tends to stay at Carson's home during the day, or patrol Southside on its own. After the monastery was set up on Sanctuary, the noble eagle-like Pokemon could often be found flying above the not-quite-fortress, occasionally visiting the Giant Bees or solemnly attending one of the many services run by the monks. Braviary sees no need for a "costume", and doesn't wear any sort of disguise when fighting alongside Gabriel, the Silver Pidgeot, and Staraptor; nevertheless, it's a fearsome opponent for anyone unwise enough to cross them. When Gabriel was tossed 1200 years into the past, the small Irish village he ended up defending had a few Pokemon defending it, several of them being a group of Lucario siblings allied with the triplets Noreen, Enya, and Brigid. After the fight with the faeries, as Gabriel prepared to leave, one of the Lucario decided to travel to the future with him, feeling a calling to help protect those people (as well as to watch over the man in white for the triplets). Ever since, she's been a loyal friend and fellow hero for Gabriel, quickly striking up a friendship with Pidgeot (and joining her in herding the rest of the unruly crime-fighting mob). She also made sure to keep Carson's hand-to-hand skills sharp. When Carson and Pidgeot got armor, Lucario did as well, a light outfight of supernaturally flexible chain that nonetheless proved generally bulletproof and swordproof. Lucario tends to share Gabriel's not-quite-rational dislike of Fae and Demonic foes, attacking without planning ahead at times. Anyone who faces off against this group finds this particular Pokemon a speedy and powerful fighter, and likely the stealthiest member of the group (which doesn't say much, but still). Grumpig is the most recent addition to Gabriel's "posse", having come on board a few months after Lucario, during the Gorgon crisis. Grumpig had been working with some of the local youth shelters for a while, both helping make them laugh with his dancing (or encouraging them to join in!) and helping provide a subtle security for them, as he's a potent fighter underneath his laid-back, music-loving, always-dancing exterior. This same serious fighter shone through when Gabriel&co faced off against the demonness who'd been haunting his efforts on and off for a while. After the fight, Grumpig asked to join Gabriel, as it felt it had more to contribute with his fight than simply helping out at shelters. It still finds itself "making the rounds" now and again, helping out at one shelter or another at least once a month. While mobile, Grumpig often gets a ride with Braviary, and the two have a tendency to make patrols on their own, or with Staraptor tagging along; Gabriel, Pidgeot, and Lucario have had to bail them out on occasion when they got in over their heads...
  3. "You're welcome, America-Tron." It didn't hurt to be polite to the robot, after all. Cobalt Templar eyed the drive for a moment, before handing him a bright blue poncho that he'd seemingly pulled from nowhere. He gave the man a friendly smile then turned to his fellow hero. "Here, it's a bit chilly out. As for the truck and you two...Hm. Wander, I can get the pole over into that lot, though I might need to fold it up a bit. Then the two of us can get the truck over that way." He turned back to the driver. "Now, Mister...um, I didn't actually catch your name. Heh. Anyways, once that's done, if there's nothing else in there we'd need to worry about, I think Wander and I could actually help you and America-Tron reach your destination, rather than sitting out here in the rain."
  4. Cobalt Templar's mind raced back through every scrap of history he'd read about that era in American history; it wasn't his area of passion, but it was a momentous, tumultuous time, and there were a lot of books about it anyways, and who could resist a good history book? So it was with at least a sliver of confidence that he stepped forward, conveniently placing himself between the driver and the robot. He made sure his outfit's colors were a nice patriotic shade of blue and red, a subtle shift from his normal shades. "America-Tron, Freedom City is safe. You and your metal brothers helped safeguard us against the legions of Hades. Between the leadership of The Patriot and SecDef McNamara, the day was saved. Some frequencies may have changed while you were inactive due to battle damage; perhaps try some of the general frequencies, including a couple of the AEGIS ones? At this time Freedom City is free and safe. We are friends and allies, who wish to see this great city, state, and nation Free." He was careful to speak general truths; he wasn't sure quite how intelligent the robot was, but it would do them no favors if he insulted it by thinking it too dumb. He was nervous; he felt they could take the thing, but it'd cause damage. If Trevor were here he'd rattle off a code phrase before tossing a microchip at its face and disabling it, but Corbin wasn't that prepared. Thankfully, Erin was probably more level-headed than he himself was, so he didn't have to worry about her panicking.
  5. Templar glanced down at himself with a frown; his adrenaline had ramped up a bit as he'd approached the live (now dead) wires, and wisps of flame were coming off of him (mostly visible thanks to the rain). A twinge of thought meant he was simply clad in shining blue armor, with nary a flame to be seen. He moved closer and offered the man his hand to help him out of the truck. "You hit a power line pole, but no other cars or people or anything. The pole didn't hit anything beside you, and the lines are dead now. Are you hurt? Let me help you out of there." He glanced at the back of the truck, frowning. "The trailer's banged up, smashed nearly in half by the pole. I don't see anything falling out of it, though."
  6. "Yeah. Not sure why they were outside, but her folks were a mite perturbed at her. Not sure I'm going to bed yet. It's not that late, I'm not very tired, and the weather doesn't bother me. And I finished my essay a few hours ago. " He shrugged and gestured vaguely at the sky. "Shoot, if it stays quiet, I could just take a stroll and jog around in the Sea of Tranquility, see the sights. But I wouldn't be touching anything, you know me better than-" Almost before the lines had settled onto the ground, CT was airborne, almost instantly finding himself hovering over the pole itself. He seemed ready to grab the power pole, but hesitated. "How do you want to handle this one, Wander?" He was eyeing the area and finding no good spots to dump a collection of live wires.
  7. "Yeah, I think the sleet's kind of driving down business, not that I really mind. Boring is good for everyone else, I guess. Just, you know, boring for us." He gave an embarrassed cough and moved on. "Mine was just about as exciting. Couple muggers, caught a pair of would-be carjackers, I think I spooked some folks who were going to make some sort of shady deal, and, uh, well, I kinda helped a little girl find her lost kitten, who was stuck in a tree." The last bit was mumbled rather softly, but Wander's hearing was sharp enough to pick it out. Cobalt Templar had glanced away, unconsciously reaching up to rub the back of his neck as he said it.
  8. "I don't know if I've had a "normal" route since the summer." He gave a shrug and a smile, his gaze turning to the streets for a moment before Wander's next question drew his attention again. He looked at no place in particular for a moment before reasserting his gaze and speaking. "She's busy with other work out west." Which Erin could interpret to mean "she's busy with hero work on her new team". While there was a slightly wistful tone to his answer, there was no bitterness; he was even smiling a bit as he said it. It seemed that for all the unique ups-and-downs offered by Quo-Dis's heritage and culture, the over-sized couple was still going strong. "Anything interesting happen on your patrol tonight, or is it just a string of muggers and hoodlums?"
  9. Corbin's patrols of late had been...erratic. Between putting the finishing touches on his forest headquarters and its high-security vault (which finally housed the Red Ring, and could always house the Orange Ring if necessary). The furnishings were still coming in, but that was a secondary concern in his mind. But between that work, his studies, and his now long-distance relationship with Quo-Dis (though between smartphones, psychic links, and hypersonic speeds, distance was somewhat relative to them...), he'd found himself doing less hero work. And some of that time was taken up doing the odd bit of mentoring here and there at Claremont... So part of him was actually excited to get out and bust some crime, though with the weather being what it was, he wasn't even getting to do much of that. He was honestly a bit bored. He was considering going back to the house and watching a movie when he caught some movement on a roof. He started to drop altitude a bit, focusing in on the glint of silver...Before smiling as he recognized it. Wander would see a blue flash above her, before a streak of blue light went through the air, marking the path of Cobalt Templar as he landed a roof in front of her. His armor was gleaming in the evening rain, his cape flapping in the wind, and bits of sleet melted as they struck his armor. He seemed unaffected by the cold, though his friend knew he wasn't actually wearing 50+ pounds of metal in freezing cold wet weather. He was clearly waiting for her to "catch up", a grin on his face as he crossed his arms over his chest, one leg propped up on the border of the rooftop he was on.
  10. Gabriel had held back a bit as the others rushed into the building; he stayed outside partly to make sure the "negotiation team" the criminals had sent out stayed subdued, partially to make sure the law officers weren't seriously injured, and partially to move in as backup if any one part of the scenario went bad. He was about to move into the building when his eyes caught a bit of motion over by the helicopter, and he saw a figure start to board it. He turned to the present law enforcement as they restrained the OVERTHROW members. "If you'll pardon me, someone's trying to leave the party early." And with barely a sound, he was suddenly a blur in the air that was crouched a bit over the rapidly-accelerating helicopter blades. He was standing just behind whoever was boarding the chopper, his face calm and confident, his tone somewhere between "conversational" and "chiding". "Pardon me, but I think it's best if you don't leave just yet. I'd hate to make a scene of this, like you know I could. So just shut down the helicopter, step out, and explain yourself. Now."
  11. Well then! Switch Array to Flight 10 overall, and zoom right on over to there in a Move Action. Standard Action is an Skill-Mastery-Auto 30 Intimidate to demand whoever it is halt where they are.

  14. "Thanks for the save, Citizen. Good catch, Wraith. Everyone, looking good. Glad we're back on track." Corbin was smiling slightly as he was deposited on the ground by Sharl, before walking over to Koshiro. "Papercut, would you mind doing us all a favor and putting a few layers on this thing, then maybe putting it in the box? I'm sure the League will have better long-term methods, but I'm still a bit jumpy about the thing, myself. Also, probably a good idea if we get some backup keeping the villains wrangled..." He kept a firm grip on the Bauble as he held it out a bit, clearly hoping for Koshiro to encase it in paper constructs. His eyes were on the mostly-unconscious villains, though; the fact that he was still noticeably dressed in his civilian clothes and lacking his ring likely made him more uncomfortable in the situation.
  15. Corbin nodded at Trevor's words. It seemed like, despite the awkward moments, Erin and Trevor and Quo-Dis were getting along better and better. That gave him a great sense of relief; bad enough his circle of friends was disjointed (and that Blake was secluded enough in his studies that they didn't hang out much), but it'd be worse if somehow they and his girlfriend didn't get along. A brief "pulse" of warmth and happiness was sent to Quo-Dis across their link. When she started talking about "meeting needs" and "providing for the community", he blushed as red as the cape his alter ego wore, unconsciously grasping his hands behind his back and giving an expression somewhere between "embarrassed", "amused", and "slightly prideful". "Your father approves? That's...well, it's good to know all of your family approves." When you knew your girlfriend's father was the Nazi answer to the Centurion, having his approval seemed a tricky affair. He didn't let those thoughts leak out though, and he didn't say more. Wouldn't be polite. He also didn't visibly wince when Quo-Dis asked Erin about kids; he'd been on that trip to the alternate future and seen how it put Erin off-center a bit, meeting her daughter by way of Mark. "That's understandable, Erin. Not the sort of thing to jump right into. All parties involved deserve that being a careful decision. Luckily you two are good at careful decisions, so." Corbin probably was ignoring the occasions when the other two young heroes had been somewhat...rash...in their adventures, but comparatively speaking even those incidents were minor. He also appreciated how they had a talent for redirecting things. "Excellent. Time to see the local team triumph soundly." He eased over to Quo-Dis, put an arm around her shoulders with a smile, and took them back to sit on one side of the couch, soon getting into the flow of the game once more.
  16. "Only so much you can do to account for the flawed nature of humanity, Wave-eye. Least, on this side of death's door." He gave a sympathetic wince at the bruises forming. "Ouch. Hope those heal up quicker for you than they would for me. As for the fight, don't worry about it. You held your own, we just got ganged up on. I mean, I've almost died a couple times. Got all but disemboweled by a bunch of super-zombies one time, fighting all by my lonesome. That was before I got some of my optional extras here, though." He rapped one hand on his breastplate. "Anyways, no, I'm not holding it against you. Just the way it goes in this line of work. Bet one of these days you'll do me the same favor. Just the way it goes."
  17. Gabriel leaned heavily on his spear, giving a lopsided, warm-natured grin to Francine Scallop. "My apologies, ma'am. I'd hoped to minimize damage, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. Also, super-criminals tend to be messy, uncooperative, and inconsiderate." He raised an eyebrow at the massive handgun, but decided not to comment. Best not to tempt fate. "Hopefully the damage doesn't stretch too far..." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gabriel gave a firm handshake back; his spear was stowed once more as a comparatively inconspicuous ring, so he was a somewhat less intimidating figure. "It's why I go out and about like this, Officer. I'm just glad we managed to prevent any deaths. Hopefully that's relief for both us and the folks out west." He couldn't help himself, though; As Rubber-Burner and Combine passed, he had a slightly smug grin on his face as he mockingly waved at them (and their companions). "Have fun boys! Hope you enjoy the food!"
  18. Again, he's Fatigued. -2 to Str and Dex. -1 Attack and Defense. But! I'm keeping the Stunt going. Standard Action: AOE Attack with -1 Penalty. 12. Nope. Spending that last one....Hero Point Reroll. 31. That's a Natural 20. So. Add +5 to Save DC. DC is now 32 Toughness.
  19. Gabriel's eyes went a bit wide in shock as Wave-Eye took another blow for him. He traced his fellow hero's fall to the ground, before slowly returning his gaze to Rubber-Burner. His eyes narrowed, and his grip on his spear tightened as his posture straightened. "Shut your bony mouth, you demon-infested piece of criminal scum. I will see all of you broken wrecks on the floor before this is done and over." He took two great steps, placing himself between the last two active enemies and his temporary partner. Both hands spun the spear for a moment, which produced an eerie hum. "Fall to your knees and beg for forgiveness." The butt of the spear slammed into the floor, cracking it slightly, while Gabriel knelt a bit with the effort of what he was doing. Perhaps a second passed, and then two pulses of what felt like solid walls of sound erupted from the white-clad hero. His iron will meant that only Combine, Thrasher, and Rubber-Burner were actually struck in any capacity. The rest of the office trembled a bit, some papers and dust blowing around, and the business owner like hearing what sounded like a trumpet's call for a couple of brief notes. He looked and saw that Rubber-Burner and Combine were still somewhat conscious, and found this state of things wanting. He stood back up, held his spear in one hand, and gave a condescending smile. "You boys look like you could use a nap. Let me play a song to help you sleep." In a brief flash of light, he was holding a gorgeous silver trumpet. He played a couple of powerful notes, and the sound once more spread through the room, and once more struck the two villains directly, the air shimmering in front of their bodies from the force of the vibrations striking them.
  20. The fight wasn't large, but it was clearly intense, and it wasn't that far away. The civilians still seemed nervous, several of them eyeballing the fight. One of them, a gentleman in his late 40s perhaps, stood up and spoke. "Are you sure it's a good idea to take all of us at once? I mean, it's dangerous either way, right? How are you going to protect all of us at once?" Some of the others nodded, though everyone seemed to be gathering themselves to move out. It was a bit of a lose-lose for ordinary people, this kind of scenario. Between the lava, the general destruction, and the fight raging just down the street, no one really wanted to stay... "Will he be okay?" A young woman asked with concern in her voice, pointing to Freedom Angel. Indeed, the winged hero seemed to be lagging a bit; one of the drones was down, half of it melting in the slowly-advancing lava flow, but the other two were still at least partially active. Freedom Angle wasn't losing...yet.

Free Action: Technically next round, but. Spend a Hero Point to put him at only Fatigued. Leaves 1 Hero Point. IC will wait for you to post. EDIT: To be clear, using the wonders of Selective, Gabriel is hitting any bad guys who are still even slightly conscious.
  22. I went ahead and shifted points so that it's the 6pp to include paying for an extra Mental Sense (since while it's kinetic energy, I see it as his brain that's "directing traffic", so it comes down to mental, but with the kinetic energy descriptor). That seems like it should do what I'm wanting here...
  23. 20. So, another Bruise, and Dazed. Again. :?
  24. "I'm sick of you talking." Gabriel's tone was short, clipped, and full of barely-restrained anger. He pointed a hand at the organic Grue Captain again, and once more bolts of sound slammed down into the immobile enemy. These bolts carried even more force than his last barrage, though they struck with basically the same amount of accuracy. It was clear Gabriel intended to pummel the Captain into unconsciousness. Preferably far enough he wouldn't wake up until next week. "So be silent already."
  25. That Captain needs to be quiet. Free Action: Power Attack for 2. Attack bonus is 10, Save DC is 29 base. Standard Action: Ranged Blast against Grue Captain 12. EDIT: This hits a Defense of 5, so. DC 32 Toughness.
