Cobalt Templar had listened passively as the young woman spoke, though as she started to name very specific details, his eyes narrowed slightly. By the time she was finished, he was sitting very still and didn't even seem to be blinking. It was almost a minute before he spoke at all. "I think I'm uniquely qualified to report that your facts seem to be in order. Which is also why I have to say I'm both impressed and concerned. Impressed, because that takes a lot of research, period. Considering the resources generally available to people barely old enough to drive, well...Seems to display a bit of tenacity." He leaned forward. "Concerned....concerned because those rings aren't items to be trifled with, yet you've spent hours, days, weeks of your life digging around for every scrap you can get your hands on. Why?"

A bit less than 5 minutes later, the door quietly opened to admit the person who had selected the location for the meeting, and Haukea got her first up-close look at the young hero known as Cobalt Templar. He didn't quite look like he did in the pictures and videos the Hawaiian girl had seen. The lack of classical armor and fluttering cape was the biggest difference. Instead, he'd opted for a business-style suit that looked tough enough to take small arms fire. Heavy workboots somehow melded with the look, as did the somewhat-larger-than-normal belt buckle, the bolo tie, and the Boss-of-the-Plains hat. All of it was in that bright, shining blue, with the darker red accents he seemed to favor. Covering a fair portion of his face was a metallic blue mask that, combined with the hat, disguised him almost as well as the helmet-and-mask combo he usually wore. No one would miss him in that outfit. Seeing as he was the size of an NFL fullback carrying a stylish leather briefcase, it wasn't likely he'd have been missed anyways. He showed no shock at Haukea's presence, his eyes acknowledging her presence, but otherwise ignoring her. He pulled out a chair on one side of the table, setting the briefcase down and opening it for a few moments to extract a couple of folders. He glanced her way and gestured at a chair on the opposite side of the table. "Have a seat, please." 'Just play it stoic, Corbin. Try to think like Trevor would.' His face remained impassive as his eyes, which held enough of a blue glow to wash out their natural color (and indeed enough to leave them just a step away from being blank blue orbs), observed his guest as she sat before dropping to the folders, which he opened and scanned. It was 4 minutes and 30 seconds before put the documents to one side, folded his hands in front of him, and gave the young lady his undivided attention. For better or worse. "You called this meeting, Ms. Kawena. You seem...legitimate. The request for a meeting was unique enough and sincere enough it seemed polite to fulfill it. But you were quite vague on details. So. Why the meeting?"

"At least they aren't Zombie Pusher Cultist Shark-Men. That might actually be ridiculous." Gabriel's face was completely straight as he spoke. He took a single step forward, and suddenly his right hand was holding his shining spear once more, the tip barely resting on the ground. "I move forward, to a better day." Three steps closer, the spear tip slightly scraping the ground. "A day where children walk the street free of fear, free of danger, free from poison that twists their minds, tears their bodies, darkens their souls." He dashed forward, the space shrinking. "You hunt life, I protect it." And then he was in the monster's face, the only thing between them a few inches of air and the shaft of his holy weapon. In that moment, some men might quail in fear at the predator-stink rolling off the man-beast in front of him. Some men might step back at the sight of the teeth brimming from his mouth. Gabriel simply gave him a smile. "Anyways, you're too ugly to be a perfect beast." Then his left hand came up, brushing the shark-man's stomach, and waves of sonic energy rolled into the leader's body, shaking at his shark-like skin, trying to make his whole body weak and vulnerable.
-
Right then, going to target the Leader. Let's go for a multi-round approach. Free Action: Switch Sonic Control Array to Drain Toughness. Free Action: (Fluff) Spear is now expanded and in-hand. Move Action: Get up in the Leader's personal space, or at least as close as possible. Standard Action: Ranged (technically) Attack with Drain Toughness. 25. That will be a DC 22 Fortitude Save against a Rank 12 Drain Toughness.

Without even really thinking about it, Gabriel made sure to keep himself firmly positioned between Francine and the assorted villains. His face was stoic as he regarded the opposition. Blackout seemed to still be going strong. Meanwhile the man with the rocky fist hit him with a punch....that bounced right off his armor. Gabriel raised an eyebrow at his opponent. "That one tingled a bit." He turned his gaze back to Blackout, pointing again. "You sir, should really sit back and wait for the medical professionals." Bolts of sound ripped through the air, battering the villain head to toe once more, one even hitting around his kidney, and three hitting somewhere on his head. "That ringing migraine might require prescription-level medication, along with those bruises."

I'm at friends house for the evening, but didn't GK put both capsules in stone? Did that go away? If not wouldn't they need to get rid of the rock first?
-
IC will go up from me once the thread seems to have caught up...

I'll blast Blackout again (Defense 22, if my math is right). Standard Action: 29. Only 1 less than last time, but with Autofire that means it's effectively a DC 30 Toughness Save. Hm. Move Action: Make sure the civvie is kept behind him. Extra Effort for another attack. Tick off 1 Hero Point. Blasting Blackout again, unless he biffed that previous save so badly he's out of commission. If that's the case, I'll blast Rubber Burner. Standard Action: Ranged Attack: 31. So a DC 31 Toughness Save (if it's against Blackou'ts Defense 22). Base is 27, plus 4 from Autofire, if that exceeds by 8 or 9.

Corbin tossed another 3 slices on a plate for himself, ambling over to the contest with a raised eyebrow. He was perhaps a bit biased about his assessment, but found it unlikely Trevor would win; he estimated Quo-Dis's strength to be on par with his own ring-enhanced muscles, and while Trevor and he were on equal ground with the Ring not in the equation, with it it was a rather sure thing. Still, it was clear the stoic young man was giving a good accounting of himself. "Yeah, my folks wouldn't appreciate more broken furniture." His eyes widened slightly at his own words, and he blushed as he moved on. "Uh. Because. You know. Um. Hard to gauge strength sometimes, who knows how many cups I broke and forks I bent and stuff. Yeah."

"I'd be more scared if you could hit me." True, Gabriel had leaned his body to one side a bit as the bolt flew by, but it hadn't really needed the help to miss. Apparently the after-effects of a sonic attack left one having difficulty hitting an obvious target. "Apparently you lot didn't get the memo the first time I yelled it out. So let me give you a more personal message. Sit down, and shut up." His right hand came up, making a series of quick flicks, almost as if he was shooing Blackout away. The sonic bolts that screamed through the air and slammed into the lightning-flinging villain's body got the point across well enough, especially the one that hit him right in the crotch. Gabriel gave a very fake wince of sympathy. "That's probably going to sting for a couple hours."

Toughness Save: 20. ....Nope. Hero Point Reroll 29. That's better.
-
It could use a bit of backstory pep, but there is a planned thread to test her worthiness, so hopefully we can get that worked out. As for the powers, there's a lot of "basic" powers from the Rings, and the active array is decently different, especially since this is the Builder ring. Also, HG's only got 105PP to play with, so. :o

Gabriel bit down a wince as the pack of mad dogs jumped and sliced, several of them almost getting through his armor's plating. One of them did; the claws stung, but the worst of it was averted. But the sickening substance that stained the claws seeped into his body, making his teeth grit as his insides suddenly clenched up. 'Not exactly how I planned to spend my day this morning.' he thought ruefully to himself. He didn't speak as he adjusted his aim a bit and fired another sonic barrage at the organic Captain, striking him in the head and torso with the bolts of solid sound. He smirked a bit, impressed he'd aimed so well despite the adverse conditions.
-
I'll post OOC now, but IC seems a bit behind....Anyways. Gabriel will take aim at Blackout. Ranged Attack roll: 30 probably hits. Remember, that blast has Autofire, so it's a minimum Toughness Save DC of 27, with +1 for ever 2 that he exceeds their defense, up to +5 (for DC 32).
-
Hm. Won't shift. But Autofire should kick in at least.
-
We'll pre-roll that Fort Save. 29. Yeah, that'll throw it off. Hrm. I think we'll try one more time at taking down the Organic Captain. Ranged Attack vs Grue Captain, with the Autofire Blast: 22. Does that hit? If so, DC 27 Toughness (more if Autofire somehow comes into play).
-
Right then. Just to remind myself, I start this with 3 HP and 1 Bruise. Toughness 23 1: 23 Toughness 23 2: 28 Toughness 23 3: 16 (Probably rerolling, let me do the final roll first, just with the initial negative 1) Toughness 23 4: 25 (Okay, didn't biff that one any worse) Hero Point Reroll on Save 3: 22, so 1 more Bruise, so Save 4 becomes 24, which is still enough to avoid 3 Bruises. Status: 2 HP, 2 Bruises Now the Fort Saves! Fort 15 1: 13 Bother Fort 15 2: 23 Fort 15 3: 29 Fort 15 4: 29 Hm. So failed one of them by 2. So I'm Sickened, -2 on Attack Rolls and Checks. :?

Finalizing this HQ Equipment 3 (15EP) (+3 Veteran Silver Reward) Equipment 3PP = 15EP Headquarters (Underground Base) Size: Large (2 EP) Toughness: +10 (1 EP) Features: Concealed, Defense System (Paralyze 12, Attack Bonus: +12, Extras: Targeted Shape-able Area, Flaw: Full-Round Action), Gym, Holding Cell (Extra Toughness, +15 Toughness Save), Isolated, Living Space, Power System, Security System (DC 20 Disable Device) (8 EP) Vault : Size: Fine (-3EP) Toughness: +20: (3EP) Features: Security System (DC 35 Disable Device) (4EP) Templar's Forest Vault While it's name is somewhat deceiving, the Forest Vault is indeed quite a secure location. Buried in a hill that Corbin found, it's embedded in a granite hillside that stretches several hundred feet around, a couple hundred feet down, but only about 75 feet above the ground around it. Running through the center of that is the reinforced bunker-like complex Corbin has transformed into a home away from home. The entrance is a disguised door that seems a smaller copy of the door to Cheyenne Mountain; a mix of a layer of dirt over natural granite over steel-reinforced concrete with a thin layer of mystically-engraved lead sandwiched in there. It leads through a short hallway that takes a right turn into a similar door. Through that door is an "entry hall", one that even has an area for people to leave coats and muddy/wet shoes (and with several sizes of basic house shoes included!). Past the entry hall is a common room, rather large, enough to have several couches, chairs, and a couple coffee tables; there's a large TV present, as well as a subtle surround-sound system. The lighting is muted and warm, and special circulation systems ensure a plentiful supply of fresh air is constantly flowing into the entire complex (heated or cooled as needed). The common room's walls are sheetrocked and sound-insulted (to help movie viewings); a few doors lead to various other sections of the complex. One door leads to a large kitchen with a fully-stocked pantry and refrigerator (though most of the food is the sort that keeps long-term, rather than choice, fresh items), with a couple of attached dining rooms. Another heads toward the gymnasium (with both exercise machines and open mat areas) with small locker/shower rooms to one side. Yet another leads to several basic bedrooms; bed, nightstand, small dresser and closet, but no real decorations. Each bedroom has a small bathroom, with a couple extra besides. All in all, it seems a place designed to house several people long-term, though it rarely has anyone besides Corbin in it for any length of time. Deeper in, any attempt to make the place "comfortable" disappears; the hall becomes bare concrete with a few vents and pipes along the ceiling. The next "story" below the main living area (which itself occupies a couple of levels) has approximately 10 feet of solid rock between it and the upper levels. It has a half-dozen spartan holding cells, designed to restrain powerful but comparatively un-powered individuals; Cobalt Templar is ready to, if necessary, detain up to 6 former Ring-Bearers at a time. After his last encounter with one, it seems a wise precaution. Another 10-foot rock layer occurs, and then there's the major pieces of machinery, including the main component of the geo-thermal power generator (supplemented by arrays of small, discrete solar panels at the surface), as well as water refining machines and other major components of the necessary upkeep of a structure like this. Pipes and machinery are, of course, scattered about the complex, and some pipes (mainly the geothermal tap) run a fair bit down below anything else; said deep pipes are set on the far side of the complex from the final "layer". 20 feet below the Machinery Room, there is a 50-foot hallway lined with surveillance cameras, magical wards, and an extra helping of the sonic disabler system laced throughout the whole bunker. At the end of the hall, embedded over 100 feet below ground level and more than 200 feet from the edge of the huge chunk of granite housing the entire complex, there is a room encased in concrete, steel, lead, and copper. Shielded from electronics and magic alike, reinforced with science and mystical arts, and with a complex locking system designed to allow only Corbin and perhaps a handful of other people, there is a true vault. Within this vault, observed by yet more sensors and secured behind transparent alloys, there is a pedestal with 7 individual cases that are themselves locked. Each case can hold a single human-sized ring, and each "slot" bears a muted shade of a color, plus a "nametag" indicating which Ring goes where. Corbin has prepared for a day where none of the Rings, not even his own, have worthy holders. They will be secure, and if necessary they will be forgotten for a time. In the meantime, it gives him a retreat from his home, and occasionally a place to have a simple get-together with friends.

Since Containers make sense on this guy, he's got all sorts of Containers and Arrays, because I'm an Organization Freak. I'm not even at 150PP at the moment, though I think all of my math is good. The idea with his Kinetic Blades is that he can make a variety of shapes, but they have to fit certain general archetypes. No rubber chickens, but for Twin Blades he could have a Quarterstaff, two Gladii, a Daisho Pair, or other such things. Definitely welcome math checks. Welcoming ideas on tweaks on that array. His Communication is purposefully not very long-ranged; he's got the ability to hit multiple people with it, and he's not super-experienced yet. Gives him room to grow. I did crib the Mind Reading structure from Sage since it seems to do exactly what I want and need there. I'm going to primarily look to AA and Electra for suggestions on his active mental powers Array, but a couple suggestions in general aren't out of order. If I find myself with enough points, I might up his Quickness and/or Speed a bit, but keep a gap between them.

"The roads of life lead to odd places sometimes, Wave-Eye." Gabriel turned and gave Mrs. Scallop and encouraging look. "There. Problem solved. Like I told you. I apologize for the mess, but it looks like we kept it pretty contained for you at least. We'll get the STAR Squad out here to deal with and process them. I'll tell them they were forcing you to cooperate via a threat of violence on you and your people." A small smile graced his face. "Which is the truth. Anything beyond that is up to you. Though I would ask you to contact myself or another hero if a similar situation comes up again in the future." He turned and regarded the unconscious villains. He sighed and grabbed one with both arms, heaving him up a bit and ending up dragging his feet on the floor. "Oof. One. Just get them down to a loading door; STAR can take it from there. I don't feel like trying to drag their sorry behinds across half the city anyways."

Right that's just an oversight. I think it is. I think I was also copying from some of AA's builds, and based on a couple suggestions from him. Yes, that's something to fix. I don't like having it too tied together. And honestly I might scrap the reserve and just have set amounts for quickness and speed. Icing on the cake, though. Well, that's the thing. He doesn't have Time Control in any sense. And I don't really want to jack with Absorption. I do think his mental blade (the Strike) is going to have a couple of APs, though.
