KnightDisciple replied to KnightDisciple's topic in Freedom City Stories
"Hm. I don't know if it'll need much more purging than just not being used. Both of these are going to be locked up for a couple decades, unless I find someone I think is extremely worthy. Still, having you and one or two other mages take a peek to make sure there's at least no 'outside influence' might not be a terribad idea, Nick. As for study, might be best if I brought them to you; today hasn't made me any less paranoid about someone wanting these." He tossed the orange ring up for a moment before catching it and tucking it away in a pocket at his belt-side. He looked at Midnight with a cheesy grin. "Whereas you'll have plenty of warning if all of this ever goes to my head. Well, that or I try wearing 2 or more rings; the colors would probably be visible from orbit. Thought if you do have to knock me out, mind not going for the face? I want a fallback plan in case history, business, and/or hero work all fail, and I figure 'action movie star' might work out for me."- 53 replies

That's some crazy stuff.... Sorta sounds like Cthulutech, really.

"Not interfere? I don't think so, you ratcheting pile of junk." His face showing only determination, his body language exuding confidence, and his gait bolstered by resolution, Gabriel stepped directly in front of where Mrs. Scallop was hiding from the action. He tilted his head to one side, raising his free hand and pointing two fingers (index and middle) at the robot, as if he were playing "cops and robbers" with the mechanical villain. "I may not wear a bow tie or wave around a glowing green magic wand, let alone have the audacity to be British, but I think I've got enough in me to disassemble the likes of you." Suddenly, a barrage of sonic bolts flew from his fingertips, several striking the robot's torso, directly amidships, while one hit it right between its glowing optics. Gabriel just smirked. "Then again, I've faced scarier robots than you myself anyways."
-
Right then. Move Action: Move to in front of Mrs. Scallop. Free Action: Switch to Blast Standard Action: Ranged Attack! 32, that's a critical hit! I'll take the +5 to Damage. That boosts the Toughness Save DC to at least 32; with his Autofire (rank 1), for ever 2 he's above the Robot's Defense, that's another +1, up to +5, so likely it's 33 to 37.

He's trying to help him control the ring! That is being nice! Notice Check (to see what Timey-Whimey Wibbly-Wobbly Stuff is going on): 20 Knowledge: History (because it's always useful): 25 Let's see if something goes Ding because Stuff.

"Sheesh, stop shouting, Sharl. Don't let it get to your head so much; you ride the wave too high you'll wipe out." He shook off the surfer vibe that had washed over him for a moment and shifted in the all-too-solid net; its shining folds fell away, and he managed to slip free, still holding the Bauble. Right at that moment, he got Wraith's message. He frowned and thought back to her for a moment. --I'm too far up; Sharl dragged me too far. I'll start heading back down, though. I've still got the Bauble.-- He turned to the fire-giant beside him, a distracted frown on his face. "We've got just one more; I'm heading back down, but you go on ahead, I'll keep the Bauble safe." He spoke with a bit of finality, his confidence shaky but still present. True to his word, he began moving back downward, quickly but not at a breakneck pace, keeping his eyes open for any new threats.

....Hrm. Yes, right then, that didn't click right away. Spend an HP to get rid of the Daze.

I'm back, let me know where and when to slot back in.

Gabriel kept a steady stride moving through the lab/production area. He was careful to not bump any tables, but his countenance was enough that the fleeing works steered clear of him. He slowed as Glowstar looked over what had been left behind, a thoughtful frown on his face. "I took Physics in college and barely squeaked by Chem in high school. Besides, this is just the sideshow. The workers are gone, we know where all this is. We need to go for the ones running the whole show. Then we can call in Hazmat to clean all this up." His tone wasn't angry, but it was determined; it was clear he was trying to keep them moving toward their goal. He turned and started walking again, right toward where they'd been told the ringleaders were.

So, whose turn is it now?

So. What's the next step?

As of today, I am taking a 2-4 week hiatus from basically everything "online". It's not anyone's fault here or anything like that. It's just something I need to do. I'll be back, count on it. If anyone really wishes/needs to speak with me, send me a PM and I might give out my RL email (no offense, not everyone's going to get it ), and perhaps explain more from there. EDIT: I'll peak in for a couple days to check my PMs, so don't think those will go unanswered for weeks. ;)

Happy Birthday, Quinn! :clint:

"No." Gabriel's voice sounded disdainful. But what it really was, was angry. A cold fury burned in his eyes as he faced down the madman who would condemn this world to die all over again. He was sick of listening to their blasphemy, sick of them attacking him, and most of all sick of this "captain" trying to destroy and kill everyone on this planet. "You're weak now. You're weak, pathetic, and you're going down." A quick barrage of sound wave slammed into the flesh-captain again, though Gabriel was going about his attacks more cautiously this time.
-
Right then... Toughness 1: 18 Toughness 2: 26 Nauseate 1: 20 Nauseate 2: 20 No shifting this turn, but I will attack the Captain again with Autofire Blast. Standard Action: Ranged Attack! 26 I guess there's a -4 because he's prone. So that's 22. Toughness Save DC 28.

"Yes, that will do nicely. I'll get this matter wrapped up momentarily." His voice whispered in her ear again. --You might want to take cover and cover your ears.-- Wave-Eye then heard Gabriel's voice. --I know where they are, just on the other side of the wall you'll see me facing. Keep the door intact, but I think the wall can come down. Hope your ears aren't too sensitive.-- Gabriel calmly stood and clasped his hands behind his back, before turning and walking to face the wall that was hiding the villains. He took a long, deep breath, focused himself for a moment... And screamed for several long moments. It was an unearthly wail that stretched for several long seconds before finally ceasing.
-
Gabriel's going to walk right over to the wall and set off his Dazzle. It's a Burst (60ft radius), but Selective; only the 4 people on the other side of the wall will need to make saves. DC22 Reflex, then DC22 (or 16 if they save for half) Fort Save. EDIT: Oh, and Extra Effort to do it again. Hero Point will be spent to negate fatigue. Initiative: 12

Corbin tried to escape the net, but it still wrapped around him entirely. He managed to hug the Bauble close to his body, but was otherwise stuck in the air, basically helpless. Lacking muscles to provide muscle power, he knew he couldn't just rip the net apart, and it was too snug to try and slip out. Instead, he faded to visibility and glared at Get-Away, the air around him dropping in temperature. "Two can play at this game, lady." He took a deep breath, and then exhaled, his mouth opening wider than any mortal could manage, and from that mouth roared cold winds like the heart of winter. The air itself filled with sparkling ice, the water in the path of the chilling blast froze, and it slammed into Get-Away with all the force of the Arctic winds in the dead of winter.

Sorry for delay. Corbin will use his Snare power, trying to aim it so that it only hits Get-Away, unless he can hit both Get-Away and another villain, but not hit a teammate. AP: Snare 12 (Extras: Affects Corporeal, Area [General, Cone], Flaws: Action [Full Action]), Range [Touch], Power Feats: Progression 1 [Area, max 275'], Reverse Progression 1 [Area, min 100']) [24PP] (ice breath) That's his round!

Gabriel sat still for a few moments, seeming mulling over their hostess's words. In reality, he was concentrating on adjusting his powers. He had some suspicions, and they needed to be confirmed or denied. His voice suddenly spoke in Wave-Eye's ears, a voice Mrs. Scallop couldn't hear, and that his lips weren't moving to produce. --Please don't react; you're the only one who can hear me. Something's going on. I'd like to request you go out to the hallway, but no further. I fear these 'Wreckers' may be close by, but I'd like to shake things up on them a bit. I'll signal you when to re-enter; unless it's extremely urgent, please don't break anything if possible. Dramatic entrances should be saved for only the choicest of occasions.-- Wave-Eye could hear the amused smirk in Gabriel's voice, despite the man's face remaining impassive. Even as he spoke to his fellow hero, Gabriel extended his hearing around them, outside the walls of the room he sat in. He paid particular attention to the wall Scallop had glanced toward more than once. Something told him all was not what met the eye. A sympathetic look crossed his face. "I'm extremely sorry to hear about your husband, Ma'am. I'm sure he'd be proud of what you've accomplished here. My companion will start heading out. Perhaps it would be wise to let me know what I should communicate to law enforcement? I'm afraid I made sure Mr. Morris went to them to communicate what was going on. Perhaps we can determine a way to make sure everyone comes out happy?" --Now only you can hear me, Mrs. Scallop. Please do not panic. I wish to help. I am a member of the Freedom League. I have faced worse than what these Wreckers can offer, and I'm sure we can take care of them for you. I am asking you again, please help me. If not for your sake, then for the sake of your employees. I'm here for them, not you. Please help me take care of these people; I don't want them in my city.--

Skill Mastery 30 on Gather Info for Well-Informed to know who she's talking about, hero and villain wise. Basic info is fine. Anyways! Switching Array to: Alternate Power: Communication 6 (Auditory, 20 miles ["Anywhere In Freedom City"], Extras: Area, Linked [Comprehend, Super-Senses], Feats: Selective, Subtle) [14PP] + Comprehend 3 (Languages 3 [speak Any, All At Once, Understand All], Extras: Linked [Communication, Super-Senses]) [6PP] + Super-Senses 3 (Extended Hearing 4 [100,000ft / 20-mile Notice Increments], Extras: Linked [Communication, Comprehend], Flaws: Limited [speech], Feats: Selective) [4PP] (Far-Hearing, The Tongues of Men & Angels, Ventriliquism) [14 + 6 + 4 = 24PP] Gabe will --whisper-- to Wave-Eye (like that). No one else should be able to intercept it. He will then use Extended hearing to try to listen to the area around the office, particularly the wall she keeps glancing toward. Notice 26 for listening for Voices, if it matters with his power structure. He'll filter it down to people who aren't workers in the building. Then when he --whispers-- to Mrs. Scallop, he'll use 1 HP and Ultimate Diplomacy to get 40 on that check with her.
