  1. Hm. I think Raven will take a round to: -Configure his Gadgets to this: Electroshock Gauntlets Stun 10 (Extras: Linked [Martial Arts] Flaws: Daze) [10PP] (Electricity) -Move up to the door on the North of the Office and carefully turn the handle to open it slightly. Aka, no longer latched, but it's still basically closed. -Stealth Check: 22. We'll call that his turn; prepping himself for combat, and clearing the way for the others to more easily move out.
  2. Micah stared at the wall; it seemed to help him stay calm and focused, more than looking either his roommate or said roommate's girlfriend in the eye would. "She latched onto Felix as easily to me; if you'd been single, I wouldn't just assume you weren't vulnerable, Eira. You have enough of a heart to come sneaking in our room after hours." The hint of a ghost of a smile graced his face, and fell away just as quickly. "Her last words to us were 'One day you will love me'. And one of the main things that helped break me out of her control, spell, whatever, was people reminding me that my beliefs mattered, and the thoughts and opinions of my parents mattered. That my mother's concern, and my father's advice, mattered. My mother, effectively, helped break her spell." At Pan's question, Micah's gaze lowered from the wall behind his roommate, to his roommate's own eyes. Pan saw in Micah's gaze a cocktail of fear, sadness, and hints of rage. "I was at home. Visiting my mother for Thanksgiving. That's when the whole Roebuck clan gathers at my father's parents' house. Me, mom, both sets of grandparents, my cousin Janet and her parents, and others. Like, twenty of us total. Grandma and grandpa have a big table. We were sitting down, just eating, and there was a flash of light." He paused and closed his eyes; Eira and Pan saw his hands shake even as he clenched them together. "Janet stood up, shouted something about everyone getting to the other room. Flash flash flash flash. They were...burned. Half my family, just...laying there. I stood up, my mom ran to the other room. A big flash, and Janet was on the ground. The house just exploded. It's just me and my mom. There's a figure of light, and I know it's Alice. Her voice wasn't human. She said 'Only one obstacle left before you love me', and raised her hands." He opened his eyes and took a deep breath. "And then I woke up."
  3. Micah had scrambled to his feet as Alice's glow increased, and his own powers began to manifest again. But then, she just...stopped. She seemed...not sad, but somehow defeated. And then she was just gone. Micah waited for several long moments before he spoke. "I...I think she's gone, Felix." He collapsed to his knees, the sparks of lightning that had surrounded snuffed out in moments. Where there was anger before, was now simply exhaustion, and fear, and sadness, among other things. Micah hugged himself, and Felix heard the trembling of barely-controlled sobs in his voice. "She's gone. I fell for it. She's gone. She used me. She's gone. Gone. Gone." Finally he looked up at the teenage paragon, tears streaking his face; Micah looked so very lost in this moment. "I'm sorry, Felix. I'm so sorry. I should have...warned you, helped better. Instead we almost fought. I'm sorry."
  4. "The toys are part of the package deal." Raven seemed dead-serious but the sentence sure sounded like a joke. "Hn. It's a historic place. Defacing graves...not the worst crime in existence, but not high on my list." At the other hero's suggestion of hiding, he looked up from his wrist-computer and nodded. He clicked a couple of buttons, reached up to his cape and adjusted its fastenings, then fiddled with his boots. Before Rope's eyes, he all but faded from view. "Let's go on overwatch, then." The barely-visible shadow of the Raven quickly moved to a vantage point, and the Rope would struggle to keep even a hint of him in view. For an unaware observer, Raven might as well be invisible.
  5. I'll go ahead and take 10 for a total of 25. 09/15 EDIT: Also, activating the Infiltration Gear Gadget.
  6. Micah took several moments to catch his breath. At Eira and Pan both saying she "wasn't there", he just gave them both flat, unamused looks. His attitude softened a bit at her concerned questions. "I'm okay. Just...a bad nightmare. Borderline night terror. I get them occasionally. It's part of why I wear the dampeners. I haven't reached the point with my control that I can 'turn off' my powers when I sleep. I almost leveled my house and town when my powers first manifested and I had a nightmare. My...one of the Barnstormers dissipated the storm in time, and it didn't take long for the Headmistress to reach out to us. And my mother's fine, she was just in the dream." He turned to Pan at his roommate's worried inquiry. For a few moments he just looked back, before he nodded. "Yeah. She was...she was going after my mother." He turned back to Eira. "What have you heard about the incident on-campus on Valentine's Day last year?"
  7. Once the others were moving, Thunderbird followed, his summoned weather apparently able to continue on its own, at least for a few moments. He landed in a crouch next to the others, wings of lightning glowing bright green still. He looked around, seeming to scan for threats... Then his head snapped toward the building. Alarm spread across his features. "There's a telepath in there. Or someone, something, like one. I just heard a voice in my head ask if I'm Saint Medardus. But...they sound like a little kid." He looked over to the team's resident psychic. "Lulu, are you getting any weird vibes right now?"
  8. Raven nodded as Nevermore laid out the plan. When his apprentice finished, he smiled slightly. "Good work. Let's go." As Nevermore moved in, the Raven took several long strides back. As soon as it was clear there weren't smoke bombs active, he dashed for the edge of the roof and leapt off. As he went airborne, his arms whipped his cape out to the sides, and the sleek cloth went stiff like a hang glider. The dark vigilante soared through the air, almost like his namesake. He adjusted his trajectory, and even as Arrow was zip-lining down, he simply dove through the opening, his cape going slack as he tucked-and-rolled to a silent stop inside. His eyepieces glowed green as he checked out their surroundings.
  9. Sorry about that. Been one of those weeks. Stealth Roll: 21. Really need to update his sheet eventually...
  10. Alek watched Ashley leave, and stared at the empty space she'd left behind for several long moments. He slowly turned back to face the woman who'd taught him how to be a hero. His eyes held nothing but sadness and disappointment. "You get one year from today. Then I'm telling her. I'm not lying to a 16-year-old girl forever. Not even for you." He turned, and by the time his face was visible to Callie and Charlie, it was all smiles. He took a few big steps, and laid a hand on each of their shoulders. "So! I think we got off on the wrong foot, and there's only one solution." There was a twinkle in his eye and his smile broadened. "Cookies."
  11. Micah had tossed a bit more as the two lovebirds spoke; he didn't seem to hear them, but it was also clear this was a bad night. He'd always been a lighter sleeper, Pan had had plenty of chances to observe that. But after the Valentine's Incident, it had gotten worse; Micah had confided in Pan shortly before summer break that he hadn't told his mother then. When they had a moment away from her cookie-infused love of both of "her boys", the weather-controller confessed he still hadn't told her. Which likely didn't help matters... "No...stay away from her...don't...don't..." Micah's movements became stronger, and even with the lessening of her inherent sense of technology, Eira could feel the inhibitors on his body ramping up. There was a spike in their power output... "STAY AWAY FROM MY MOTHER!" Micah shot up almost ramrod-straight in his bed; his eyes flew open even as his right hand shot up, palm-forward. He was breathing heavily, covered in a sheen of sweat despite wearing a tank top and having light covers over himself. He ran a hand over his face with a loud sigh. "Sorry about that Pan, didn't mean to wake you u-" Micah had started to talk without looking at his roommate. Mid-sentence, he'd noticed a strange amount of light in the room, and had turned to look at Pan. At which point he saw Eira. Hence freezing mid-sentence. Micah blinked several times before speaking again, this time more softly. "Eira. I'm not running to the teachers or anything, but what are you doing in our room right now?"
  12. Micah fell down when Felix relaxed his grip; the young man landed on his backside, and loosely propped himself up with his own arms. His breathing had started to slow down, and silent tears trickled down his face. Then Alice exploded in light. His head snapped up to stare at her, and his mouth fell open in shock. He stood up, aided by a burst of wind, and started to back away from her. "Felix, I think maybe we should back away and get some help." Micah glanced at the powerhouse teenager, hoping that his classmate, who seemed a bit more put-together right now, would heed Micah's caution.
  13. The young woman smiled and nodded at Jenny. "I'm Janet; Micah's my younger cousin but we're basically brother and sister." She sipped her drink and raised an eyebrow. "I didn't think someone could make strawberries and banana mixed with mint taste good, but kudos to you lot." Micah's mother smiled broadly at the man handing out the smoothies. "Well thank you, Shawn. You can call me Amelia." Micah's back was turned and he was trying to keep everything straight, but Janet saw Amelia blush slightly. She quirked an eyebrow up but didn't react otherwise. "Hm, this is good!" Micah, meanwhile, was giving hellos and handshakes and trying to keep things straight. He shied away just slightly from the robo-wasp, but the magenta-colored mantis drew some of his attention. "Nice to meet you, Ryder. These little critters are somethin' else." He sipped his drink and looked down. "Huh. Cinnamon, apple, and blueberry. Nice. It's like a super-pie in a shake." He looked over at Ryder's taciturn roommate. "Nice to meet you, Utsuwa. And no, we're not from Freedom City, or this state. We're from Oklahoma. Janet helped get some of my stuff out here sophomore and junior years, but Mom's big on "memories" and whatnot and since this is my senior year, she wanted to be here in person. We ended up getting here earlier today because we made better time than we thought."
  14. Raven turned slowly to face the Rope. He inclined his head, and there was perhaps the very slightest trace of a smile on his face. "I'd heard rumors there was someone, or something, moving about this area recently. Combine that with the escalating blatancy of what's been happening here, and it seemed likely another was here." He stepped forward just a bit, still shrouded but more visible to his ally for the night. His suit looked subtly high-tech, in a way that suggested he relied more on skill than raw power. "Perhaps, perhaps not. I can send the car away and we can stake things out some more." He reached into his belt and retrieved a device that looked a bit like a smartphone. He quickly entered a series of swipes and taps, and the large vehicle quietly rolled away, making less noise than the Rope would have thought it might. "Based on your outfit and the way you operate, I'm going to guess that you're the hero they're calling the Rope?"
  15. So there's been some discussion on the Discord that basically amounts to "But where does Raven get all those wonderful toys?", and the consensus was "the books aren't really clear on that". A few ideas have been tossed around, but we're not at a point of full consensus yet. Broadly speaking there seem to be a few ideas. -The Summers have a vaguely-defined amount of wealth in accounts, investments, etc, and are basically just "wealthy philanthropists", in the vein of '66 Batman. They are also, of course, known for running Claremont. -They have one or more large, powerful, wealthy corporations they have major ownership in, even if they don't actively "run" them. -Some combination of the above. Perhaps they have decent-sized but non-controlling interests in things like Archetech, the companies associated with the Hunter families, etc? I'd like to figure something out with the rest of the "Raven Family", so we're all happy with the situation by the end.

  17. Micah nodded at Veronica's suggestion to just leave the dinosaurs alone. "Let the cows and dinos graze in peace, sure. Lead on, boss-lady." He did his best to keep full awareness as he want, but there was something about this place that sparked at least a bit of awe. When they came to the clearing with water and lots of animals, he smiled like a goofy kid for about 5 seconds. Then he frowned deeply and crouched down a bit. "Um, I know they're not the best source, but don't the movies and stuff tell us this sort of place is prime carnivore ground?" Then she mentioned military boots. "Wait, Romans? So we have dinosaurs and the Roman Empire?"
  18. Alek smiled slightly as Judy gushed over his heroic persona. He waited for Charlie to break up the rush of words before speaking up. "Mm, I've seen some files on alternate universes. Some aren't too bad. Some are...well, I'm sure we all have some idea about how some roads not taken aren't the best sort of roads." He watched Callie and Charlie get to work on planning the party for the elder/current Miss Summers. Ashley's attention was diverted enough to that conversation to miss the shadow that passed over Alek's eyes as he watched young Callie speak, but Judy was both paying enough attention, and socially astute enough to intuit there's something going on. Still, it's just a moment, and when Alek spoke, it was on lighter topics. "Isn't that music what you normally use on those things, Charlie?" His eyes twinkled with amusement as he asked his apprentice the question.
  19. Micah had gone to bed a little while ago; he'd cited being tired after the initial rush of "heavy socializing" that was move-in and the immediate aftermath. Pan hadn't ever known his roommate to snore, beyond maybe an occasional middle-of-the-night snort or the like that most any person made; however, he did occasionally shift or speak in his sleep. At the sound of the 'ping', Micah rolled from laying on his back to facing the wall; he was now facing away from Pan. A sound somewhere between a grunt and a moan popped out, which when combined with the slightly increased shine from his night-time power dampeners, suggested he was not having a "pleasant" dream. "No...keep away..." Still, he didn't seem to be in true distress. Micah had bad dreams sometimes, everyone did. It was just part of the human condition. Pan had lived with him for two years now, and knew the signs that would require intervention to avoid risking overload of the dampeners (followed rapidly by highly-unpleasant weather conditions); so long as he kept an eye on Micah for a little while, everything should be fine.
  20. The sky outside had been a dark storm, with strong winds and continuous rumbles of thunder. As Micah went limp in Felix's arms, seemingly almost broken, the weather had slacked off. The wind died away, and quiet rains replaced it. Meanwhile, outside of basically the radius of the building housing the pool, the sky was, if not empty, at least fairly clear. It was likely highly apparent to students, and faculty, that something was going on in there. Micah himself flinched when "Alice" said she wanted to make him happy. His voice cracked as he retorted. "Did you? What does that even mean? I don't think you know! Whatever you are, you don't understand what you're doing, and that makes it worse!"
  21. "Focus on the fight, not takedown tallies." There was a slight edge to the Raven's voice as he spoke. He didn't look at the two sidekicks as he gave that instruction; his gaze, filtered through lenses currently tinted dark blue while he held his hands palms-out, remained fixed on their target. "Nevermore. We have Bowman on overwatch. Arrow, you, and I are going in. How should we proceed? Which entrance points, order of entrance? And what should we spend the first 15 seconds doing?" His cowl's lenses blinked and turned to the more "regular" white. "Arrow. What options for cover do you have in your quiver? What about area disruption?"
  22. Off in the distance, a low rumble, like far-off-thunder, could be heard. Within two minutes, the thunder's cause was clearer; a vehicle that looked like someone had cross-bred a stealth fighter with a tank. This was the current incarnation of The Unkindness, and without even seeing inside, the Rope knew inside was the Raven. The car slowed to a stop and went eerily silent for a moment, before the canopy withdrew, and a dark shape slowly drew itself out of the driver's compartment. At first, all Rope saw was an indistinct outline. It shifted, and two glowing green eyes stared at the cemetary for a few moments, before the shape moved. As it walked, the black cloak pulled back to reveal the armored form of the current Raven, the small part of his face that was visible set in a grim frown. With no apparent gesture, the "car" closed its canopy as the owner walked into the cemetery and stopped; his head scanned back and forth over the terrain. Finally, he spoke, his voice...not gentle, but clearly not pitched with the intent to frighten. "Good stealth skills, I'm having trouble spotting you just yet. You found anything substantial yet, or were you waiting to work in tandem?"
  23. Tagging to help me remember.
  24. Micah blinked slowly as Veronica explained what these vehicles were specifically intended to participate in. Then Elizabeth asked about the nature of the race, and Micah all but leapt into the conversation. "The Dakar's brutal enough without oil slick sprayers and caltrops. It's one of the premier rough terrain races in the world. If the Cooper really can keep up, then Veronica's right, this would be a game-changer." Brimming with nervous energy, Micah moved over to the table with the electrical engine. He reached to a nearby box and pulled on a couple of sturdy latex work gloves, left there with the obvious intent to allow people to inspect the engine without streaking or contaminating it. He proceeded to poke and prod various bits while he spoke. "So using electrical's not a bad idea in and of itself. Since you won't need a traditional drive train, I'm guessing you've got the main power system and then the independent motors in the wheels? Lets you store smaller parts, which means more parts. Here's the big question, though. How do you keep them all charged while you're in the field? You said they're rechargeable, but what are you recharging them with? Do you have solar cells on the trucks powerful enough you can hot-swap the batteries?" He hummed for a moment before he continued. "I'm a little surprised you didn't go for some variant of a hydrogen fuel cell. Same end-result of no greenhouse gas, but probably a bit better fuel density. And your only byproduct would be water, which is a net good. Well....hrm, no, the temperature conditions make that less than ideal..." Micah seemed to be drifting off into mechanic-land; someone might need to bring him back to earth.
