  1. --Flier is mine.-- Cobalt Templar's "voice" echoed over the mental network the teens had formed as he turned to face Hellstorm's position, taking a moment to make some mental calculations. He caught Wander's efforts out of the corner of his eye, and smiled slightly as his aura became a visible corona of blue flame. While it had disappeared when he grew large enough to toss Sage at the sadistic flier, his hands once more grasped that same weapon, and it burned with the same intensity as before. The young man in blue armor shifted his feet just a bit on the sand, tightened his grip... And suddenly he was right next to Hellstorm, a trail of fire searing the sky in his wake, marking his inerrant path to his foe. His burning blade was already swinging forward in a powerful blow. "No one hurts my friends! No one threatens my friends!" The blow struck true, and he wound up for another strike, the blade blending into the now-expert pattern he wove for a moment before it lashed again against the rainbow-colored Hound. "So it's time someone clipped your wings!" Cobalt Templar's fury burned around him, searing the air with the blade of raw, fiery magic and willpower in his grasp. He was a hero on a mission, and he would not be denied.
  2. Meanwhile, CT's going after Hellstorm. Free Action: Rearrange Fires of Judgement to Strike. Move Action: Get up in Hellstorm's busnax. Free Action: All Out Attack 5: Attack is...+22 (with +5 from this and +5 from Inspire), Defense is +7 Power Attack 5: Attack is +17, Damage DC is 32. Standard Action: Sworded! 25, that's a hit! DC 32 Toughness Save Free Action: Surge! Extra Effort for an extra Standard Action, since I've got 6 HP right now... 21 isn't good enough to hit. Hero Point Reroll: 19 becomes 29 with the reroll bonus. DC 32 Toughness Save again! CT is down to 4HP.
  3. Cobalt Templar looked around, taking in the situation as a whole. Two of their opponents had fled, with Citizen in pursuit of one of them. 'He'd better not lose my ring. Or I'll wring his holographic neck...' It seemed his earlier frustration was still lingering, especially with his rather sudden switch to being, well, dead. Or dead-ish, perhaps. The mechanics of the matter eluded him, and he was still caught up in the rush of a fight. He glanced at the golem-like Slyph on the ground, then turned to the frozen form of Granite, floating to stand right in front of him. An almost apologetic expression crossed his face as he holstered the shotgun and drew back his left hand for something of a haymaker. "Look, at this point I'm not really mad at you or anything, but there's no way I'm not going to make sure you stay put even if that ice goes away. I hope this doesn't hurt much, and maybe we can get things sorted out soon. For all our sakes." With that, his ethereal arm shot forward and was buried up to the elbow in Granite's crystallized chest.
  4. Right, seems like this is mostly over... Free Action: Concentration Check to switch to Drain Strength. 13. And it's DC 15. Free Action: Hero Point to just activate it. Move Action: Get next to Granite. Standard Action: Melee Attack. 14, but that hits. So, DC 22 Fortitude Save.
  5. As a note, due to the radically different nature of both his upbringing and his ring, Inquisitor Hughes isn't using Corbin's stats. We'll say instead he's using this build,as befitting his ring. AA, if you think we need to beef him up a touch to PL 11 or 12, let me know. Not quite sure what you've got in mind for our thread here.
  6. Earth-Prime Corbin gave both younger students a flat look, one he might have been practicing with some tips from Trevor Hunter. He waited several seconds before speaking. "Look. You guys know I'm a history nerd. In theory, I appreciate what you're doing here. But come on; you're here after dark, and you're panicked that I saw you. We're supposed to be heroes, guys. But this? You guys have the right stuff, I know you do. That's why this kind of thing is frustrating. You're both better than this." He regarded Koshiro specifically for a moment. "You realize that something like this would probably get you in all kinds of trouble, right? Summers went out on a limb for you, Koshiro. He went to bat on your behalf, and I'd bet money he called in a favor or something. Which is why I'm confused why you're doing this. It's like a slap in the face of the Headmaster. Incidentally, I'm not just here because he ordered me to be here. I'm here because he asked me to be here. Which makes all the difference in the world." He shook his head and was about to speak, but then Rift came into the scene. Corbin sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Yeah, me either. I think the three of us were just leaving..." Erde The Inquisitor nodded at Wilder's words. "Understood." When the man with the box walked in, and the officer told them where the strange sound was coming from, Hughes didn't outwardly acknowledge the report. Instead, he crossed his arms over his chest, his lean body lending an extra air of menace to his somewhat otherworldly outfit. A box emitting sound like that could be trouble, big trouble, but it could also be exactly what they wanted and expected.
  7. The shining hero in front of Crow managed to avoid audibly sighing in relief as he took back his spear. After the blink of an eye, suddenly the spear was gone, and there was a ring on Gabriel's right hand again. "Glad I managed to get through to you. I was getting worried I'd end up hurting you, which isn't something I ever enjoy. Especially since I'm wondering if there's something more going on here." He looked at Crow again, taking in the fanciful nature of his outfit. "Forgive me for my earlier assumptions. You're clearly a young hero, not just a kid. Which makes you all the more tempting a target for something like the Fae. Of course, the question is, what sort of game is it playing at?" As he was speaking, Gabriel floated forward until he came to rest on the rooftop, looking around a bit distractedly as he spoke to the young coated avenger. Almost as if he was expecting something, or looking for something.
  8. "So we probably have a leak, but whoever it is, they're basically the "middleman". Someone else is doing the heavy-duty science work, reversing the effects of this epi-pen of yours." Gabriel paced a bit, obviously mulling the situation over in his head. "But who? We've got mad science types coming out our ears some days, but even as smart as a lot of them are, don't they usually specialize? Who's out there, free, who could take the information being stolen, and then turn this formula on its head? Someone who's good with chemicals and genetics, not circuits and metal as much. Anyone have any ideas?"
  9. Oofta, blast from the past here. Okay, Ecal's still only sort of around. Nevertheless, if no one objects, I'm going to move us forward to being less than a day out from Freedom City. Then we can have a post or two about preparations, and then we fast-forward again to being on the streets moving toward the objective. Any objections? Are people just wanting to ditch the thread?
  10. So, the above sheet is a theoretical Gold award character. He's built with PL12 points, but has PL10 caps, essentially. At the moment he's got a couple options for fighting, even before Gadgets (which is still Standard Action, so yeah). I'll try making up some sample gadgets tomorrow. Maybe I'll reduce the rank but make it a Free Action, I'll have to decide.
  11. And now I'm going to start poking at a Cowl idea I've been considering for my Gold reward. I'm thinking PL10 combat caps, but using the PL12 option to give me more points to play with! 12. Earth-Prime Corbin had made sure he was well-rested before coming to this apparently abandoned warehouse; he didn't want to fall asleep and miss whatever Summers had sent him to see and deal with. The Headmaster had, of course, been his typical mysterious self, so the young ring-slinger didn't actually know what was going on tonight. So he parked himself in a dark corner, behind several boxes, wearing dark civilian clothes instead of his costume. He waited in that spot for several hours before he started to catch traces of conversation; traces that soon resolved themselves into recognizable words, and familiar voices. His eyes carefully tracked the holographic boy and the paper controller as they made their way in, talking about hauntings and thieves, as if they were doing nothing wrong. 'Bad enough I had to just sneak in here; the Headmaster sent me, and I'd bet dollars to donuts he's got enough connections I'd be counted as a deputy or something. But...argh! Seriously, this is ridiculous. I should have known both of them were trouble. Come on Corbin, don't be a jerk about this. Play it cool, don't let yourself get mad.' He closed his eyes for a brief moment, focusing himself. Then he stood up to his full height, planted his hands on the box directly in front of himself, and smoothly rolled over it to a soft landing on the floor. Had he been a smaller man, he might have remained unnoticed; at his size, the floor still groaned a bit even with his caution, and he blocked enough light to stand out. That his eyes glowed faintly blue in the darkness only enhanced the eerie, shadowy effect as he crossed his arms and spoke in a surprisingly soft tone, making an effort not to raise his volume. "When the Headmaster sent me to take care of something for him, I figured I'd be meeting with an adult hero to help out, or deliver information, or some similar task. Instead, I find two fellows who claim to be law-abiding heroes, team-mates, sneaking into an abandoned warehouse in the middle of the night. Sharl, Koshiro, what exactly is going on here? Why are the two of you here?" Erde Inquisitor Hughes sighed, fidgeting again with the high collar on his formal uniform, one rendered in dull black and muted yellow colors. He glanced slightly uncomfortably at his fellow soldiers. He preferred to work alone these days, rooting out "corruption" in the middle portion of the former United States. He'd tried to generate a bit of conversation with his fellows, but the Artificial Intelligence (so fascinating and historical in so many ways!) was disdainful. It wasn't hard to tell he seemed to have a low opinion of humans. Hughes shot the floating young man a scowl; the hologram dared think he understood everything going on, all the trials they faced in these bleak times. Then Wilder spoke, and the Inquisitor was instantly on alert; the diffuse glow around his body snapped to a nearly skin-tight level, accenting the colors and lines of his outfit as the illusion-maker floated cautiously into the air, casting his gaze about. "I'm not hearing it, or seeing anything unusual. Can you tell which direction it's coming from?"
  13. 1.) Hrm. I'd say he's as hidden as possible (take 20 Stealth, untrained, but +3 Dex bonus, so 23 for that). A corner or something, mostly behind some boxes (boy be huge). Without knowing more detail, that's what I've got. 2.)I would say he knows it's them.
  14. Two questions. 1.)Does Corbin see anything yet? Or just hear things? 2.)Can I make any sort of check to see if I can figure out who the voices belong to, and/or determine what they're saying?
  15. Cobalt Templar's face was angry as Nightmare Doom wove her magics and issued her ultimatum. He glanced around at the others as she spoke of their individual dooms. When she pronounced his, he gave it only a cursory glance at first. 'This witch has another thing coming if she thinks this'll scare me much; I faced down a zombie version of my girlfriend before, how could-' His gaze shot back to the portal, his eyes wide in shock. He recognized the man who was apparently Quo-Dis's father. 'I...I'm dating the daughter of Superior?!?' For a moment, he couldn't think straight, the sheer weight of that revelation grinding his mind to a halt. Then, he shook his head and gazed at the remaining Hounds as he shrank back down to his normal size. "Fine. I'm okay with not jumping in while Midnight kicks your boss's rear end. Any of you ladies feel like taking a whooping from me?" He eyed each of the conscious Hounds, trying to decide which to strike, before sending a thought out over the link. --Who wants which Hound? I'm up for tackling any of them.--
  16. Cobalt Templar nodded his head faintly as Ghost Girl spoke. "Right, wind, ice, snow, face, out, gotcha." Corbin tried to breath a torrent of cold out of his mouth, but all that came out was a wisp of misty air. He sighed in frustration, and concentrated on the images his teammate had given him. But instead of from his mouth, he found himself reaching for the ghostly weapon on his back. A tool clearly formed from his subconscious, and his tendency to fight with constructs more so than his own body. 'Long as it stops the bad guys I guess...' He hefted it into his hands, planted his feet in the air, and took aim at Granite and Sylph. A grin suddenly split his face. "I think both of y'all need to chill out." Then a torrent of icy wind poured out from the battered ethereal shotgun, washing over the two villains like the worst Arctic blizzard in history.
  17. Corbin's going to aim the Ice Blast so it hits Rock!Sylph and Water!Granite (hey, matching pair!). Full Round Action: Area Snare. 100' size. DC 22 Reflex Save.
  18. Cobalt Templar frowned as he was ordered to disengage from Blood Diamond. As far as he was concerned he had her on the ropes, and she'd just crossed a line when she brought his family into this. He sheathed the sword construct at his side even as he took to flight once more. "Be back in a minute, Harpy Diamond. Try not to get any uglier before I'm back." As he flew, fire formed and compressed around his body, until he stood next to Sage, looking for all the world like a giant version of himself, right down to the over-sized ethereal cape. He eyed the distance from them to Hellstorm for a moment, before reaching down with one oversized hand and hefting Sage like she weighed nothing at all. "Templar Airlines, direct flight to the fight, one passenger, now departing." He hefted back a moment, almost like a shotput thrower, before surging his arm forward. Sage raced through the air, and looked to be landing right next to Hellstorm any time now...
  19. Just so Sorus and I are clear, where exactly is Hellstorm at, relative to both Sage and Cobalt Templar? EDIT: Right, we'll just go ahead and do this thing. Move Action: Fly over to Sage Free Action: Switch to Giant Form, Corbin forms the head (and legs, and arms). Standard Action: Pick up the tiny Sage person and throw her at Hellstorm. Roughly speaking, aiming to have Sage end up right beside Hellstorm.
  20. Proposed structure for the Person Cannon Version 1.0.1: Teleport 12 (Extras: Affects Others, Flaws: Limited [Others]) Fluff is a giant cannon that fires Sage like she's using a Biotic Charge from Mass Effect. Bam, instant SageCannon. 8-) Scrap that. In Giant Form, effective Strength is 94, and per rules on Throwing, that'd be enough to toss her up to a maximum of 47 miles. Which is obviously overshooting, but he'll definitely be able to chuck her toward Hellstorm.
  21. I realize Custos and Wander still have to go, but, after some thinking in chat, I wanted to get this proverbial ball rolling. Sorus and I want to do a Fastball Special with Sage, except take it to 11, and maybe fire her from a giant cannon. But more generally, Corbin will propel her at the target. There are a couple of ways this plays out, fluff-wise, in my head. First, Corbin gets in his big form and manually tosses Sage. A classic move, and probably easy-ish to simulate; Corbin Grapples, Sage willingly misses the save as badly as possible, and he uses his Strength 44 plus Super-Strength to propel her through the air. Not bad, but with Corbin, I think I can do better thematically. The other option is for Corbin to somehow make a construct that literally shoots Eve; some sort of person-firing cannon. This one...not sure. I mean, is there a way I could Stunt something that gives her a round of Flight or some such? I have an image in my head of what to do, but I'm not sure how to accomplish it....
  22. Gabriel is taken aback by Crow's sheer ferocity and determination. He had impressive skill, and Gabe's wrist stung from the move that ended with his spear on the ground. He looked up at the perch the young man had taken, hearing more than seeing him up there. He signed and ascended as fast as he could, until he was level with the boy. "I'm sorry; I should have tried this first." He concentrated, a frown on his face, as even more sonic "wind" circled his body for several seconds as he looked intently at the ensorceled young man. Then he raised his right hand, palm forward, fingers spread, and pointed it at the teenage hero. "I speak against this foul sorcery that has enslaved you, and in the name of the Lord, I ask you, young Crow: Be free." A pulse of sound rocketed forward and struck Crow just as the last word left Gabriel's lips. It was a simple melody to his ears; almost like a piece of classical music. But it resonated throughout his mind, quickly eroding the control on his mind until he was once more himself, and the deceptions were swept away. "See with your own eyes once more."
  23. I'll lay out my Action Plan, and if you don't like it, Quinn, we can rejigger it. Move Action: Use Flight 1 to get as close to Crow as possible. Free Action: Using a Hero Point to Stunt a new power off the Sonic Control Array . Going to produce Nullify 12 (Mind Control, Extras: No Saving Throw, Range [Perception]). Should fit nicely. Standard Action: Nullify on Crow. Should auto-hit and auto-succeed, since it's Perception No Save.
  24. Looks like Taunt is a Will Save. 25. And 18 won't hit; this is the new & improved Cobalt Templar, and his Defense is 22.
  25. Auto-30 on the counter-Intimidate with Skill Mastery. Anti-Disarm check: 20, and he's disarmed.
