The one Nick had targeted didn't seem to be shaken much by what the necromancer said. But Nick's blow still struck him, albeit only slightly. Still, it clearly affected him a bit. "Hey, Orange Bowl, over here." Just as the man started to turn, confusion painting his face, the glowing hammer that Cobalt Templar had used just moments ago struck him again. This time, it hit the mysterious attacker right in the side of the head; for a moment, he seemed like he might have been felled then and there. But while he stayed on his feet, he was clearly barely holding on to consciousness. Meanwhile, the large blunt weapon was resting on the ground as CT gazed cautiously at his enemy. "Nice hit, Nick. Good set up for a one-two punch there. Hey, Midnight, you done going easy on your guy?" CT's stance was wide open, but he seemed fearless as he stood there in front of his foe, fire construct casually grasped in one hand.- 53 replies

Vs Startle: 23. So, no go there. But 22 just hits his Defense of +12. DC 29 Toughness Save: 26 (1 bruise already). So, another bruise. Initiative Roster: -.)Orange Goon 3 (29): Unconscious, 0 HP 1.)Midnight (23): Unhurt, 3 HP 2.)Orange Goon 1 (20): 2 Bruise, Dazed (1 round), 0 HP -.)Redbird (19): Unconscious, 0 HP 3.)Orange Goon 2 (18): 1 Bruise, Flatfooted/Feinted vs Midnight, Demoralized (1round), 0 HP 4.)Nick Cimitiere (14): 2 Bruise, 3 HP 5.)Cobalt Templar (9): 1 Bruise, 4 HP Then it goes to Corbin, whose currently also going after OG1. Same strategy as last time. Free Action: All-Out Attack 5: Attack is 17, Defense is 2 (we'll go with the old sheet, like TT is doing. So Toughness 17 and Defense 7). Power Attack 5: Attack is 12, DC is 32 for Toughness Standard Action: Melee Attack! 32, and it's a Nat 20! So, DC goes up by another 5. OG1 Toughness Save DC 37 (with 2 Bruises): 23 1 shy of a KO. But, that still leaves him Staggered and renews his Daze. So, it'll be Midnight, then Redbird, then OG2. IC post up shortly. "Wait, wait, wait. You're saying you lot went through this whole layered shenanigan, all this trouble, all this pomp and circumstance...to get us out here so you could try to kill us? Really? I'm not sure if I should feel flattered or insulted." Cobalt Templar lazily flew through the air, sparing a glance at the "master of ceremonies" on his pedestal, before turning back to look toward Mark. He wasn't moving too fast, for fear of some other barrier being in his way. But the slight overconfidence he felt was still pretty clear in his voice. "You lot are in for a sore surprise."

Gabriel (his spear now stowed away as a ring) stepped forward with a winning smile on his face. He didn't exude the raw force of personality he had displayed when he managed to talk down one of the Ministers, but he was still quite the presence. He clasped his arms behind his back and gave the woman at the desk a slight bow from the waist. "You would be correct, ma'am. The four of us recently encountered some unusual individuals using unusual means to attempt crime. Those people have been taken into custody, but our investigative curiosity has led us here. We wish to speak with one Dr. Kirkstrom for a bit. We can assure you this visit is peaceful, and to our understanding, the good doctor should be able to receive visitors, at least for a time. Do we need to fill out any paperwork or the like befor we proceed?" He wasn't flirting per se, but Gabriel was (perhaps unconsciously) still laying on a fair bit of charm. He just hoped there wasn't a small book's worth of paperwork to sign. 'At least I don't have to deal with any bees this time around.'

GM Post The unrelenting, even confusing, efforts of Midnight and Redbird left their target off guard and open for an attack. But while he was shaken, he still had his wits about him. "I'm going to crush you like a bug! And bend your precious motorcycle around your body!" The energy around his body surged along his arms, and he fired a blast not at Midnight, but at Redbird, hoping to slow their overall progress. Despite the rapid movements the dark duo were undergoing, and the shakiness in their attacker's limbs, he scored a hit upon the advanced motorcycle's side. His face smiled slightly as he lifted his arms in the air and crowed his victory (such as it was). "Ha! I'll melt you both to slag yet!"- 53 replies

As it is, he can't. So, he's no longer Demoralized, but he is Feinted as far as Midnight and Redbird are concerned. He's up, though. We'll go with Ranged Attack vs Redbird: 28. EDIT: That's 26, because he's still demoralized, I counted things wrong. But, still a hit! DC 27 Toughness Save. Nick's Up! Amaterasu had drawn her sword in the blink of an eye, batting away the pepper spray projectile with an economy of motion that was almost frightening. Susanoo had snarled and ducked his head at the last moment, and the burst of irritant scattered harmlessly on the wall behind him. Shenlong simply closed his eyes and held his breath for a moment, the powder quickly fading from the air before he calmly brushed the irritant off of his clothing, even as the ninjas around him surged into action. "Argh! This stuff hurts! Ack! Whoever did that, I'm gonna beat you senseless in a minute! You're going to wish you'd just stayed in bed today!" Kitsune was crouched on the ground, her teary eyes clenched shut as she furiously tried to scrub the spray out of her eyes. It seemed to only be making things worse for the moment. "We leave now. Our brothers and sisters can deal with these fools for the moment at least. We must prepare, and attend to Kitsune. Shenlong, help her." "Bah! Should stay and fight." "We go. Calm down, Kitsune, I've got you." And somehow, their deliberate movements didn't keep them from slipping out of sight; the chaotic mess of blinded and non-blinded ninjas helped matters, most likely. But what were they preparing for?
-
Right, so, since all 4 go 1 right after the other, the 4 are pulling out, with Shenlong moving to help guide Kitsune off-scene. They'll be out of sight and out of mind for a bit, folks.
-
Per Quinn, DC 19 Fort Saves. Amaterasu: 15 Susanoo: 10 Kitsune: 8 Shenlong: 25 So...one near-miss, two biffs, and an aced save. :?
-
Right, sorry if I sort of held things up. I've gotten Ref permission and Rav permission to use the stats I linked. Rolling init for them, though they aren't fighting immediately. Amaterasu: 20 Susanoo: 21 Kitsune: 22 Shenlong: 23 Yeah, that's right. I'm just that awesome. 8-)

Corbin barely managed to facepalm when Sharl read the descriptive plate. He couldn't believe he'd gotten all hyped up before reading the display description. Then something struck him. He leaned in to reread the display label. "Wait, it's supposed to be something different for everyone? Why are Eve and I seeing the same-" Then Sharl shoved his hand inside the case and groped at the display like a 2-year-old kid. Corbin's eyes went wide before he all but snarled at the holographic teenager. He kept his volume low enough to not disturb the other patrons, but his annoyance was blatantly obvious. "Te rudibus saeva cur quod? Sharl, for the love of Herodotus don't touch the displays. I don't care if you can ignore the security systems you don't know what touching them might do, and you have no right to go about disturbing pieces of history like that!" His left hand twitched reflexively at his side, and the large teen had to take a moment to close his eyes and take several deep breaths. When he opened his eyes again he was still annoyed, but he seemed to be in better control of himself. "Please don't treat these things like an amusement park exhibit. If they're behind cases that say "don't touch", it's for a reason."

Corbin had been slightly distracted trying to find his girlfriend, who had come on this trip. Well, sure he'd been looking at the exhibits, but nothing was "popping out" at him. Maybe talking it over with someone with a fresh perspective who wasn't grumpy (like most of the rest of his team seemed to be) would help him, too. 'Good practice for college; have to try to approach things from a less personal level. I keep thinking of these guys as "Mark's dad" and "Mark's grandpa". Not really a good way to write history, Mr. Hughes.' He gave himself a half-smile before he noticed the display Kimber had just said something about. He raised an eyebrow when he heard her say it was a gravestone. 'That's a piece of wacky crystal, no mistake.' His academic curiosity piqued, he strolled over, eyeballing the display next to his shorter, decidedly lighter classmate. He frowned, rubbing at his right ear for a moment as he looked around. "You guys hear that?" He didn't offer any other explanation as he kept glancing away from the crystal, trying to spot the elaborate clock that had to be making that noise. 'Seems familiar, too. Man, this crystal is weird. Almost hurts to look at it...Okay, it can't be a huge clock, it's not loud enough, but where is that dang blasted contraption making that noise? I can't concentrate on this display with it ticking away like that...'

"Yeah. Same here. But what?" Gabriel stared pensively at the mutated "Ministers" (an unearned name if there ever was one) for many long moments, before the sudden realization made him lightly slap his armored forehead. "Duh! These guys are like mass-produced versions of Megalodon! You guys remember him, right? Genetic scientist, was trying to regrow a leg, ended up turning into a shark-man? It's like someone's managed to replicate the process. Which, I guess means they should eventually shift back; I don't think Dr. Kirkstrom stayed permanently changed. But..." He frowned again. "The guy was locked up solid, last I'd heard. Did he break out?"
-
Still have super-charisma mode on. Using Skill Mastery, that's a 50 on Gather information.

Gabriel noted the other heroes keeping a good lid on the other conscious shark-thug before her turned his attention to the one still undergoing stomach spasms, though they seemed to be calming down. 'Time to calm down the rest of him,' Gabriel thought to himself. Calmly he floated to the ground, his armored boots touching the concrete as he took a couple steps toward the shark-man, crouching a bit and letting the butt of his spear rest on the ground. The air shifted a bit around him, as he refocused his incredible talents to a more subtle approach, one that might avoid further pain and violence tonight. Before he even started to speak, an aura of subtle sonic waves surged around his body, and the subconscious "white noise" served to (in this case) relax the criminal, as well as making Gabriel seem profoundly more reasonable. He spoke in a friendly tone of voice, and his body language was open, honest, and inviting. "Look, Mr....Hm. I don't know your name. At any rate. Look around you. You guys were in over your heads as soon as this fight started. We tried to end this peacefully. I tell you what. You didn't really hurt me that badly earlier. And I hate seeing a chap going through stomach pains like that, even if I caused them. How about you just sit back, sit tight, and wait this out. I promise I won't hurt you, they won't hurt you, and I'll put a bit of a good word in for you. That sound okay? No point in us getting our heads rattled scrapping; better to just sit back and relax, right? Don't worry, you should feel right as rain in a moment. Though I doubt you'll be hungry for a while."

Right, time to make Shark 2 sit down and play nice. As much fun as I, the player, would have in scaring him, he's basically no threat. So, Diplomacy. But first! Move Action: Land on the ground close to Shark 2. Free Action: Switch Array to Super-Diplomancer-Mode (That means I get a +40 to Diplomacy) Free Action: Spend a Hero Point (bringing me to 4) to activate Ultimate Diplomacy Standard Action: Diplomacy Check 60 to get him to surrender.

Gabriel gave an embarrassed cough. He stood, giving the unconscious man one last glance before he turned to face the portal head-on as he spoke to his comrades. "Well. Maybe? I don't really have any dimension-related powers. I could blast it with sound energy. Or try tossing out one of our traditional exorcism rights. I can be pretty convincing, or scary. But I don't have a special 'anti-demon portal' power." He gave a helpless shrug and gestured at his spear. "Usually I just shove a bunch of sonic energy in their face, or stab them. Or both. I tend to focus on the demons themselves more so than the portals they come through. Been a while since I saw anything that just...stayed open. Don't have any holy water on me, can't make any by myself. So, yeah."

"Aw, nuts." Corbin, so far maintaining the same speed as the rest of his companions, surged ahead, his flame aura flaring even as his armor-like costume snapped into place around him, his cape serenely flapping in a non-existent breeze as he sharply turned and dove toward the now-falling not-quite-Furion. He tucked his arms in to his sides and squinted, before a clear visor formed over his face in the "T" of his helmet, easing the breeze off of him. It took him several seemingly-infinite moments, but he caught up with Max's bike, then passed it. Cobalt Templar positioned himself under the falling vehicle, before bracing his mighty shoulders against the underside, and then starting to push up. His legs swung down, going to an almost 90 degree angle, and in a fit of morbid amusement, small "jet engines" formed on his calves and shot out tiny tongues of "exhaust flame" as he slowed the bike, then stopped it, then began to move to the others, smoothly, and soon moving almost as fast as the bike had been before. He quickly took his previous spot by Redbird and Custos, raising his voice a bit to be heard from his spot under the Wildryde. It was laced with faint amusement as he jibed with his friends. "And here I am not prepared for a light workout. Go figure. Next time you throw a party, Eve, I'm bringing a gym bag! Anyways, what now, folks? I could try cutting through the field. Or we try bypassing it?"

"Rank amateurs think they're sneaky. Think guys like us won't notice them trying to flee the crime scene." Gabriel didn't even look at the armed criminal as his left hand snapped up, index and middle fingers pointed at the man. A bolt of sonic energy lanced out and hit the man square in the head, the rapidly changing ultrasonic/infrasonic sound waves likely scrambling his nervous system so bad he would be frozen in place. His arm stayed where it was for several moments, even as the shining sound controller kept his gaze firmly on the shark-man retching his stomach out on the ground. The spear in his right hand stayed leveled at his toothy opponent. "So how about you just hang out over there for a minute, and Chum here can try to catch his breath." He shook his head in mock sadness at the sickened gene-splicer. "See, this is why we have all those preachy Public Service Announcements, kid. Because drugs really are that bad. See how sick you are now? I know I hate throwing up like that. Must be even worse with a shark's senses."
