  1. For my own benefit, here are Hero Point totals as of right now, with that extra that I promised added in: Ironclad: 5 Hero Points (1 Starting + 3 Luck + 1 Granted) Jack of all Blades: 6 Hero Points (1 Starting + 4 Luck + 1 Granted); Jill O'Cure: 0 Hero Points (Sidekick, shares with Jack I believe) Arrowhawk: 4 Hero Points (1 Starting + 2 Luck + 1 Granted) Gabriel: 6 Hero Points (1 Starting + 4 Luck + 1 Granted) Also, if you guys want to retroactively roll one or two skill checks to cover things you might have done, or otherwise convey some sort of mechanical information about what occurred, feel free to do so. On my part, Gabriel took 20 on Gather Information, goal being whatever he could find out about the Interceptors, the city, and their target building/area (don't worry, some stuff isn't known to the Resistance that's known to me, so surprises will still be in store). With Take 10 (Skill Mastery), that's a 37 total. I'm going to say that lets him know a good outline of their enemies, be it powers, personality, or procedure (well, tactics, but I wanted 3 P's). Also: Get ta postin'!
  2. Cobalt Templar Change is Necessary for Growth: 1 IC Post It's Gonna Be The Future Soon: 8 IC Posts Vault Construction 101: 2 IC Posts Something Eldritch This Way Comes: 1 IC Post Gabriel Scrier's Masquerade: 1 IC Post GM Posts Scrier's Masquerade: 3 GM Posts All GM Post counts go to Gabriel
  3. Cobalt Templar nodded as the militia commander spoke. "That sounds right. Assuming it's not over..." He tilted his head and thought for a moment. "Oh, say about 50 tons, I should be able to get it out. How big is it in size?" He starts walking toward then elevator door, and is almost in the threshold when Keres says "stop them all". In the blink of an eye he's standing at the cell door, blue flame flaring as he stares down the artificial man. "Where are the rest?" He stares for a moment more, but then shakes his head and takes a step back. "No, you want me angry and desperate, so busy trying to figure out where they are that I can'd fix it in time. Too bad for you." He turns away and closes his eyes, raising one hand to his ear as if talking into a hidden headset. Instead, his lips barely move as he taps into the network Sage has been providing for them. '<Guys! I think I know why they hit all those places! They're hiding some sort of black spheres all over the place! I've got Keres, from the Foundry, sitting in a cell here at militia headquarters. I don't quite get what he's saying, but it sounds like bad juju for Tronik. I'd bet dollars to donuts they've hidden these things at the different buildings Sharl told us about earlier. We need to find them all! Right now they want us confused and more scared than long-tailed cats in a room of rocking chairs, but we've got an advantage now! I'm going to take care of the one here with Leroj's help, then try to get to the plankton processing center. Cobalt Templar moving out.>' With that he opened his now-glowing eyes and stepped forward into the lift. He nodded to the commander. "Let's go."
  4. I'm fine with ending combat. I only rolled init because we were actually in rounds; if we'd kept it all "fluff" I wouldn't have cared. I do think, personally, it might have worked a touch better if we hadn't had more than the "original" 4 in here. But of course now everyone's here and it's hard to say how to handle it. I'll be honest, I cam into the thread expecting focused shenanigans between Corbin, Blake, Etain, and Eve. I'm a bit short on ideas for what to do *now* though.
  5. Corbin Hughes knew Blake had planned on coming to Parkhurst today; he'd even offered to give his friend a ride, but the other boy said something about "having to do it himself". Corbin took it as a sign of Blake's new more serious outlook on things. So he'd driven himself and, failing finding another parking spot, was driving up the lane slowly (the gates had opened without visible assistance, though he had some suspicions considering what Blake had said about the place) when he saw Blake walk up to the door. He grinned and shook his head, finally parking a little ways down the lane and getting out of his car. In the time it took him to lock the door and turn back around, Blake had blood running from his shoulder right before he transformed and started blasting the lawn. Corbin swore in Hebrew as he shoved his keys in his pocket and started sprinting up the lawn, his huge frame easily assuming a runner's posture. For the couple of seconds it took for him to realize he could still fly, that is. Then there was a flash of blue fire and Cobalt Templar was making an extended hop through the air, landing right beside Kid Cthulu as Dead Head dove into the fray. "Blake! Cut it out! Right now!" His voice distorted, and his form started to shift a bit as fire built up around him...
  6. I'm going to preemptively roll initiative for CT, since he will be taking combat actions. He's at 11. I'll make a quick post of him getting to the point of being able to see the fight, and then you both let me know where he falls in the order of things, and I can post as appropriate.
  7. When do you guys want CT to get involved? I'll wait for whenever you think is dramatically appropriate.
  8. "Run away? What, do you think I'm a coward like you? I've faced worse than you and come out fine." Cobalt Templar's worry had been dropped in favor of resolve, and a bit of angry disdain. What was a robot spy next to legions of Omegadrones? "You're a corporate saboteur, sure. Probably because it plays to your strengths of hiding in the shadows. No, I'm not going to run away, Keres. I'm going to stop you. And I know how." Taking a few steps back, but never taking his gaze fully off of Keres, Corbin turned to a nearby militia member and spoke softly. "I believe the obtuse threat he is making is related to something you've confiscated. I understand you have a strange spherical device in your possession? I believe that's the threat. I need to examine it. Quite like I will need to take it out of city limits. If there's a timer, perhaps I can at least get it far enough away it will do nothing to your city. I have some help I might be able to communicate with once I've got some altitude, and they might have a suggestion on what to do. Perhaps I could at least examine it first?"
  9. May? I'm totally in on this. Hm. Hey, Refs, would me doing that basically count as GM/NPC posts? That is, half-credit, and counted toward the character of my choice?
  10. Corbin's always up for hanging out with his best buddy, and maybe making sure his best buddy's keeping himself on the right track! He'd also jump into the defense of his friend if Carrie attacked (not saying I have to be in that thread, but I am putting it out there).
  11. Corbin tensed and grit his teeth as Trevor offered his advice. It wasn't the helpful tip he minded; it was the sudden appearance. "One of these days I'm going to put a bell on you. Or something." He quickly made note of the indicated pit on his drawing, nodding slightly. "Thanks for the tip, though. I wonder...maybe I can use that pit. I want to wait for-" And then the Pale Horse rumbled up, which made Corbin glance up and around, which let him note the slightly modified coloring of his friend's motorcycle. "Nice detailing, by the way." He turned and waved at Nick, gesturing for him to join the two teenagers. He waited until the rockabilly necromancer barista had joined the younger heroes to continue. "Right, so, I want to give you a better idea of what's going on with this. You should understand that my ring is only somewhat unique. There's not another one exactly like it, but there are, according to my research, translations, and somewhat recent experience, several others built along similar lines, just with different themes. Right now I've got one locked away in the best place I could cobble together, but it's not nearly what I'd like it to be. Which brings us to why we're out here in the boonies: Building a better vault. Well, not just a vault. I figure it's time I start looking into the whole "secret lair" trend, you know? It would be nice to have a secure place to fall back to once in a while, have a trophy room, that sort of thing. But it can't just be a hole in a big chunk of granite, which this hill is. I want it to be secure. And considering the nature of both my ring, and the world we live in, I'm taking no chances. You're both here as my security consultants. I'm going to go over some general plans for what I want to make out of this, and then you guys help me figure out what works, what doesn't, and how we can get this place locked up tighter than Fort Knox. I want to make sure that, no matter what tricks they pull out, no one can get in here if I don't want them in. You two up for the challenge?"
  12. Large Hill, Wharton State Forest, A Few Miles Outside Freedom City March 2, 2012, Early Afternoon Corbin stood at the foot of the hill, currently wearing a rather rugged hiking outfit, hauling around a decent-sized backpack that had a few snacks and a lot of drawing materials. One might think he was out simply to try and capture the beauty of the wilderness; the fact that he had several topographical maps, geological surveys, and other such materials stuffed in the bag would bear witness to a more solemn purpose. Currently, the bag was sitting on the ground, and he was standing there, concentrating on sketching out the hill's outline, occasionally adding some numbers to various points on it. He took a break to sip some water, wolf down a granola bar, and glance at his watch, raising an eyebrow. 'I know it's out of the way, but I figure Trevor would have been here 35 minutes before me, or at least before the meeting time. Hard to say with Nick, don't know him as well.' He just hoped they didn't take too long. He had a date with Quo-Dis planned tonight, and while this planning would be important, he didn't want to spend the whole rest of the day on it.
  13. OOC thread spawned from this thread I'll go ahead and re-post my villain stat blocks now, so the two of you can review. 14. Cobalt Templar managed to not sigh in audible relief when he wasn't shot. "Yeah, hopefully he will. Whoever "he" is." He followed the militia men, lapsing into silence as he noted their route as best he could. Couldn't hurt to try and memorize the way out as best he could. 'I'll give them this, these guys don't mess around, and those guns look pretty nasty. Maybe if we make nice after all this they can take me out to the range with one? Always good to add another design to the roster...' As the wall opened up in front of him, Cobalt Templar took several confident strides. He was about to add a confident "what he said" type statement after the militia member announced his presence. But hearing the "man's" name, and seeing his face, those words died in his throat before his lips could twitch. 'Oh, crap. The Foundry, here? Keres? Of course. He's probably trying to make them think he's not a big threat...' Cobalt Templar's posture straightened a bit as he steeled himself for this encounter. He kept his eyes locked on Keres, but un-crossed his own arms. "I hope you fellas have been keeping a close eye on this guy. I've never met him, but I've heard of him. He's nothing but bad news." He took one small step forward, closing the distance a bit while keeping some space between himself and the dangerous android. "We haven't met, but I've heard of you. Busy little bee, aren't you? I remember hearing about what you did to General Dynamics. Nasty piece of work. Probably not as nasty as the stunt you almost pulled at USNet. Of course, that's not your nastiest work by far...Just what are you doing here, Keres?Probably has something to do with that sphere they collected from you, doesn't it?" Templar effectively knew the answer, but perhaps the android would be goaded into talking?
  15. This, I have ranks in. Booyah, Natural 20, Check is 30. :D
  16. GM Post Arrowhawk was rapidly led to his counterpart's armory, with his coffee and a bit of light food provided on the way. He was given as much time as needed, and one of the aides would stay with him to continue to act as a guide (unless he asked for more to stay and help carry things or the like). Jill and Jack were quickly led to the medical area of the base, which encompassed a large number of rooms. They were steered to a storage area that included most needed supplies, as well as a few different means of carrying them. But despite the comparatively isolated location of the storage area, they inevitably passed some of the treatment wards, containing Resistance members wounded during fights, or occasionally during extraction from intelligence work. It likely didn't alter their moods any, but it did reinforce the genuinely precarious nature of the fight on this world. Ironclad and Jessie had a chance to talk, argue, and/or invent for several hours before they were giving a page stating they had an hour before the submarine left. Gabriel Prime spent what time he could mostly asking about the enemies they'd be facing, specifically the Interceptors. It paid to be somewhat well-informed about the enemy, at least in the basics. -------------------------------------------------- It was a few hours later, and the motley group of heroes, the Jessica from this world, and a small group of techs and crewmen scurrying back and forth were gathered in front of the rather unique-looking submarine that was apparently going to be their home. A few hundred meters long, it took up one side of the cavernous submarine bay. One of the crewmen noticed the mismatched entourage, even as a few others were carrying the last bits of supplies (including what passed for "luggage" for the heroes) on board. Said crewman walked over and gave a somewhat sloppy salute. "Petty Officer Hudson, ladies and gentleman. This is the Siren. She's not really built for a straight up fight. More of a mobile, stealthy base. Too bad we can't take her all the way to our target, but she'll get us a good deal of the way there, and quicker than you'd think. Everyone on board if you could, we're shipping out ASAP." With that, he motioned for them to follow him on board, where he'd lead them to a conference room. "I'd take you to the bridge, but it's too hectic right now. Can't afford the distraction; we can give you the nickel tour later, once we're under way. Sit tight, though you can always flag someone down for quick directions. The head's behind that door over there." With a parting gesture that indicated the bathroom, Hudson left the group to themselves.
  17. Right, so final planning stages. I'm gonna post the links to the basic builds, then follow up with what changes. Main Villain: 1.)Base Attack raised to 11, so that his attack with his Builder Array (for lack of a better term) is 15 2.)Base Defense raised to 10, for 15 total (with Dodge Focus) and 5 Flat-footed 3.)Toughness goes to up to 15, thanks to Protection upgrade (more in a moment) 4.)Fort, Reflex, and Will all go up to 10 (3pp boost to each base save) 5.)Add 1 rank of Dodge Focus 5.)Power changes: a.)Damage goes up to 15, DC is 30 b.)Drop Emotion Control c.)Move Object goes up to 15, DC is 30 d.)Add the following to the Array: Blast 15 (Extra: Targeted Area [shapeable], Flaw: Full-Round Action), DC 30 e.)Protection goes up to 12 DCs: Damage: Toughness DC 30 Move Object: Toughness DC 30 Area Blast: Toughness DC 30 **Done** Now, for the 3 minions. Using: Paragon with a Power Ring. I'm not making them full-on constructs mechanically. I'm now thinking they might be small-time thugs utterly infused with the Builder's powers. Anyways. Changes: 1.)Attack up to 8, 12 total for Energy/Unarmed 2.)Base Defense up to 8, Total up to 12, Flat-Footed 4 3.)Overall Con goes to 34 w/base powers, gives him +12 mod. 4.)Overall Str goes to 34 w/base powers, gives him +12 mod. 5.)Toughness goes up to 12 with Con 6.)Fort save up to 12 thanks to Con 7.)Ref is 6, Will is 8, both due to base save boost 8.)Powers a.)Device gets...eh, it has more points. I'm more concerned about combat caps and such really. These are one-shot NPC mods. b.)Blast is 12, DC is 27 c.)Enhanced Str and Con raised to 18 (to change above total stats) DCs: Blast: 27 Toughness Unarmed: 27 Toughness **DONE** That should be that. I'll try to get the real thread up tonight.
  18. Untrained Diplomacy check: 7. :? EDIT: On suggestion, HP reroll: 13. Which...stays as it is due to reroll rules. Whee.
  19. 'Right. Shiny black sphere that'll kill everything here. Taken during a fight. And I can do...something...with my ring.' For a brief moment, he stared straight up into the sky. 'If nothing else I could drag it into space, or as high as I can go. Maybe that would help. Maybe drag it up high, then burn it?' He didn't even consider the risk to his own life in these plans, only the chances of success for the rest of Tronik. As the leader approached, Cobalt Templar stood stock-still, making absolutely no movements. The militia had some pretty big guns. When the man stopped and ask his questions, the young man in black and blue inclined his head and upper body in a slow, obvious gesture of respect that was about as nonthreatening as one his size could manage. "Hello, officer. My name is Cobalt Templar, at least when I'm...on duty, I suppose you could say. I came here via some means that, well, I don't totally understand, but I came to help. I am an ally of the one called Citizen. I only want to help you, all of you. There are dangerous people in this city right now. One of them high-jacked the broadcast a bit ago. But...we received word of odd things going on at other places. Myself and some of the others surmised it was a multi-pronged attack, one using more subtle means." He glanced around the helipad, then back to the leader. "Could we perhaps go inside and speak more? I promise I'm not here to cause trouble with you and yours."
  20. Hard light constructs... Forget the Yellow Ring! He'll be a villain for Corbin later on, just you wait! Instead, we'll fight the Orange Ring of the Protective Builder. I'll be modding this Fear Controller build. I'm gonna pick a Paragon-ish build in that thread, or somewhere, and make sure it's about PL12. That'll be for 3 "Hard-Light Construct" minions. Fluff-wise they'll be the product of a long, drawn out ritual that lets me get away with not messing with stats too heavily. You two okay with that?
  21. The large young man simply raised an eyebrow at the not-very-subtle threats being leveled his way. "Sure fellas. You lead the way and set the pace, I'll follow all nice and easy-like." Indeed, whenever the militia vehicles started herding him, he'd match their speed as best he could, doing everything he could to appear easygoing and non-threatening. Which was a bit of a challenge between his size, his rather obvious state of dress, and the faint trail of fire he left behind. He probably could have eliminated it entirely, but he felt a subtle reminder he wasn't helpless would be good. He manages not to twitch when the voice came into his head. He did smile when he heard the language, and thought back in the same tongue. "<I recall him mentioning you a few times, sir. I'm playing along with the cops so far. And I wasn't planning to hand over the ring anyways. No telling what that would do since my actual ring's still on my finger no matter what. Any hint on what the device looks like, where it is, and what I should or shouldn't do to make it permanently non-dangerous?>"
  22. Cobalt Templar frowned when he saw Papercut trying to stop his head bleeding. His teammate didn't have quite the natural protections some of them had, or the uncanny grace Sage had. His paper was a formidable asset in a fight, but the other teenage boy was apparently still working on the whole "superhero fight" dynamic. The hero in blue closed his eyes as he shrank back down to size and walked over to his teammate. Light flames suddenly flew from his ring hand to Koshiro's body. The few moments of panic would fade when it was clear the flames didn't burn him at all. Instead they worked to knit together wounded flesh and restore a bit of energy to the other young man. Not a single bit of damage was done anywhere, not even to the origami that was his signature tool. "Don't move around too much, I'm a bit rusty on this trick. It might tingle a bit."
  23. Hm. Papercut's hurt. And while OOC I know we're probably basically done, IC it might be good to make sure we're prepared in case combat happens again. Or something to that affect. So, while I don't feel like exact number crunching, CT's going to stunt Healing off of his Fires of Judgement array (he's done it before) and go help Papercut. He won't be burning an HP just yet, so he'll eat the Fatigue for now, if it matters.
  24. Corbin had thanked Sieva for the directions she'd given him for the militia headquarters before stepping up to the edge of the window. As he stepped into open air, he was suddenly clad in a black and blue outfit that seemed like a sleeker, futuristic version of his armor. With a smirk on his face he shot into the air, quickly getting above even the tallest buildings, at least for a few moments. Simulated that it might be, he enjoyed the feeling of wind on his face. In retrospect, the rather obvious arcing path was his biggest mistake; the intelligent thing to do would have been to stick close to buildings and keep the aura to a minimum. He moved fast enough people wouldn't have been sure what was going on. Now he had an armored car floating in front of him, threatening him with violence if he didn't "stand down". "There had better be something going on here or I'm going to be displeased. Probably with Sharl." Rather than fighting back, he opted to stop flying and start floating in mid-air, arms crossed over his chest, as he waited for the militia to make the next move. When he spoke, his voice was jovial and friendly. "You sure you don't want me to at least land on a walkway or something? I mean, I can hover out here all day, but we're blocking traffic, fellas."
  25. Right, so, Gizmo, trollthumper, this is the organization thread I talked about. Basic idea: -Cobalt Templar gets Midnight and Nick Cimitiere to help him construct defenses both mechanical and magical. Or at least plan them out (construction pending next player reward). -However, they get jumped by an enemy! Specifically, the current weilder of the Yellow Ring of the Cunning Illusionist. -There's a fight! Bad guy butt is kicked, but it's not easy! Things I'd like some input on: -Should it be one villain, or several? It looks like Midnight is a well-equipped PL12, CT just recently passed that threshold, and Nick's a comfortable PL13. If it's one guy, he'd need to be a beefy PL15, I'd think. -Any suggestions on a build I could modify? I don't feel like scratch-making one, but I know we have a few variations on the theme floating around. -Anything else you'd like to see happen? Right now it's a pretty basic idea. If you have a suggestion to add, feel free!
