"No water-themed friends here, really. Maybe a couple in passing, but not enough for a fan club like this. I guess maybe Gaian Knight could pull this off, but it's not his style at all. Plus, his castle's floating in the air in another dimension." The last sentence was said without a trace of sarcasm or irony. Then again, considering the strange array of abilities present, a floating extra-dimensional castle didn't seem impossible. Gabriel himself made a slow circuit of the room, tracing his fingers across the table for a few moments. He couldn't get a feel for the people who ran this place; with no decorations, no personalization, it might as well be a cheap motel. He still had no idea what was really going on. And that incessant tapping wasn't helping things. He froze as that last thought flickered through his mind. In the twinkling of an eye, his hands went from "empty" to "spear pointed at the door". "That door's not soundproof, and someone's coming. Making a lot of noise. Mechanical, sounds like, and some sort of tapping. Not moving very fast."

Corbin gave Indira a funny look at first, before a slow grin spread on his face. "You know, it would be pretty crazy fun. Surely we could figure out-" And then things went horribly wrong. Leeds ushered them from the "zoo", and they were soon in the hall. Before long, they were in the computer hub. When he saw their teacher's condition, he cursed in Arabic and flashed over to her side. When he saw the nature of her wounds, he stopped reaching to help her. He wanted to, but the severity of them made him hesitate. "Just...just hang on, ma'am." He turned to the others. "Anyone have any first aid training? Or could one of the bunches of robots in this place maybe possibly help?" The strain was clear, despite the false sense of calm in his voice. Corbin had rarely seen anyone injured so severely, and certainly not an authority figure. It was all so utterly pointless and brutal. Then Sharl played the video, and he frowned, his brow furrowing. "Wait. So...she came up here to get back in? Why?" He shook his head. "Not important. What are we going to do? What can we do?"- 176 replies

DC 35.... 23 is...not good. That's...12 less. So that's Staggered and Dazed. Surrounded by enemies. Yeahno. Hero Point to reroll. Seriously, 23 again? That becomes 33, so he eats a single Bruise.

"Man, if the bad skin tone wasn't enough, the sheer crazy this lady puts out makes any fanservice null and void." At this point, Cobalt Templar abandoned what little stealth he had undertaken and heaved himself from the ground with a push of his legs and some assistance from his ring. But as he rose into the air, his form rippled and grew. A shell of energy formed around him, before fire violently filled it, solidifying his form until when he landed right next to one of the not-trees, he looked like a 9-foot tall quarter-ton wild man, wearing nothing but ripped pants, muscles bulging everywhere over his huge frame, an angry snarl playing across his almost comically masked face. "Time to weed the garden!" And with that, he brought his right fist crashing down on the creature with incredible force, hoping to fell the gruesome thing in a single blow.

Right then. Time for me to let loose with Corbin's latest (relatively) addition to his arsenal, something I have yet to test out. Free Action: Switch Fires of Judgment to the following AP: Move Action: "Leap" (that is, Fly) up next to one of the Dark Young. Standard Action: Melee Attack! 14 is likely a swing and a miss. EDIT: I realize I didn't designate targets. I'll go after...uh, DY 3, I guess. Which, as TT is telling me in chat, is actually a hit. So....DC 26 Toughness Save from the Dark Young! :ugeek:

When Corbin saw who their guide was to be, his grin got even bigger. Something the others were sure shouldn't be possible for the non-shapeshifter. He all but ran over to the robot and started to offer him a hand, then awkwardly retracted it, then offered, then retracted again. "Oh my goodness! Dr. Mark Leeds! THE Dr. Mark Leeds! You wrote some of the most definitive works on Classical Greece! Your insight into the Thirty Tyrants was incredible! Your account of the formation of the Delian League was so realistic, like you'd been there! And your treatise on the Archidamian War broke new ground! It's...honor doesn't even cover it, sir! Robot or no, this is just incredible! That you would be the one to show me dinosaurs...It's like so many best things put together!" He took a few moments to breath as he just stood there, hoping one of his classical heroes would shake his hand. "Plus, alien animals are cool, but dinos are cooler! I mean, aliens like Indira are cooler than dinos, you're awesome Indira! But...well, dinosaurs! I never thought I'd get a chance! Or if I did, it'd be like Jurassic Park, which was sort of cool, but also sorta scary, and wouldn't really be a lot of fun. This seems like the best of both worlds! Or something like that." He lapsed into attentive silence as the android explained his stutter, and then led them on a tour. He managed to restrain his glee when they saw real, living stegosaurus a few dozen feet away. He had so many questions in that moment, but he was afraid to spook the magnificent creatures, so he settled for gazing in awe at them.- 176 replies

Somewhere between the words "dinosaurs" and "T-rex pack" and the hologram popping up, Corbin was a half-second away from jumping up and down in excitement. Were it not for his size, he'd have looked like a 10-year-old boy hopped up on candy. He dashed over to the display, leaving a comical after-image of wispy flame as he literally flew over to the display. He was right beside Kimber, anxiously bouncing on the balls of his feet. Without looking over his shoulder, he called out to Sharl. "When do we start? I mean, forget everything else, there's dinosaurs! Can we pet them! I wanna pet a triceratops!" A grin lit his face as he glanced at the cluster of prehistoric apex predators. "I wanna wrestle a Tyrannosaurus Rex!" The tone in Corbin's voice made it clear any thoughts of whether such a thing was "permitted" or "wise" had not entered his mind. There were dinosaurs to be wrestled, and by gosh he was going to do it! "Oh, Indira! I bet you could totally outrun a Utahraptor! And wrestle it! Not that I don't think you couldn't take a T-Rex, but they're kinda big, and I missed your strength trial and you can help if you want ohgoshdinoswhyaren'tweINTHEREYET!"- 176 replies

GM Post Travelling down the halls As the motley crew traveled down the bare, brightly-lit hallways, they occasionally went past sealed metal doors. Where they went to, it was hard to say; for all they knew, each held a small legion of armed guards. The doors were thick and, as Gabriel discovered, very sound-proof. Still, the doors along their path were open, or at least unlocked (presumably some left closed for emergency situations). Finally, they arrived at their current destination after about 5 minutes of brisk walking (as not everyone could fly to the end in the blink of an eye, and splitting up would likely end badly). It was a rather comfortable conference room. Twenty chairs around a long oval of a table. A small folding table against one wall, with a few basic snacks and drinks, obviously fresh. And a paper note taped to the table (though it was printed, not hand-written):

"Without a map, we don't know how far we'd have to go to get to a route out, or where we'd have to go. Too many variables I don't like to consider if we try just busting our way out. Besides, my curiosity's piqued. Hopefully they can't just swat us like flies." The man in white rolled his shoulders a bit, stepping back into his room for a moment before emerging with the tablet. His spear was nowhere to be seen, not even in the room. He tapped at the not-iPad, bringing up the map. He started walking down the hall, before glancing back at the others. "Might as well spring the trap, hm?"

Corbin nodded at Ms. Harcourt's request. Once she'd gone he turned to his fellow senior. "Anything I should expect to look out for, or just "weird things"?" After she answered, he happened to overhear Sharl's statement about "something cool". He raised an eyebrow in curiosity. 'No point in trying to stop them. And if it's not locked, maybe we're meant to see it. Might as well go along and ride herd.' "Hm. Well, if it's not locked, guess that means we can see it. You all want to stow our stuff and go check it out? I'm game." He didn't look at Eve when he thought in her direction. <Let's just go with it. What can it hurt, anyways?>- 176 replies

Carson drifted awake out of a very strange set of dreams. About 30 seconds after he was awake, he was instinctively dashing for the bathroom, likely saved only by his body's echolocation abilities (which made the commode stand out more thoroughly). He spent a couple minutes in their cursing whatever it was they had slipped him, before spending another several minutes cleaning up. He didn't have time for a shower, but he managed to feel halfway presentable again. It was only then that the full reality of the situation hit him, and he was instantly clad in his armor, spear in hand, as he strode back into the main part of the room. He frowned as he noticed the tablet for the first time. He read the message, his mouth turning into a thin line as he glanced around the room, as if trying to see the cameras. Then he heard Jack complaining very, very loudly. He rolled his eyes as he tossed the tablet on the ground and walked to the door. He was actually a bit shocked when he had to manually open it... "The fact that we're not hanging in deathtraps right now makes me think this is not an ordinary supervillian kidnapping plot." Gabriel's voice seemed soft, but no one could mistake hearing it. The man himself stepped into the hallway, calmly taking stock of the situation. He nodded to Jill and Ironclad. "Ladies, good to see you both in good health, all things considered." He turned to Arrowhawk, assessing the other man for a moment before stepping forward and offering his hand. "Call me Gabriel. I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting, Mr...."

Okay, technology she could potentially detect: Tablets Lifesign sensors, and their connected, closed system (thinking she can't hop system to system wirelessly?). Temperature controls. In addition, each room has an alcove where you could have a small computer desk, but there's no computer, and the power and network wires are dead (probably just switched off).
-
There are 0 wireless signals that she can detect. The pieces of technology present are the tablets (wireless is disabled at the hardware level, you'd need to take time to get it going, but it wouldn't net you anything substantial, beyond talking to the tablet) and the hard-wired basic lifesign sensors placed in the rooms. They don't have any actual wireless connection, and don't get live video or audio. I guess she could try splicing something in, but it'd go to an isolated, dedicated console for...monitoring lifesigns. Doing so would take several minutes at least, and you'd need to tell me where you're getting the tools to splice them, and what you're splicing in with. Also, the sensors are behind small (like, 3-4 inch) circles of shaded shatterproof glass, embedded in reinforced concrete. ;)

Any Player Character making a serious attempt to escape (either one large, major effort, or several smaller ones) will gain a Hero Point. Considering this a sort of conditional, preemptive GM Fiat. So a few more shenanigans like what Jack and Jill pulled, and that'd be a Hero Point. Trying to blow through a door would probably be one right away. But you'll only get 1 total. I'm not handing Hero Points out that quickly. Feel free to remind me of any Complications that may end up taking effect. If you have any questions about things, ask them here, or while I'm in Chat. P.S.: Gizmo, there are no direct video cameras or sound feeds. Just FYI. ;)

"I can do a distraction really easily. Even better, I can pretty well take most of what they'd have to dish out. Especially if the rest of you are coming in from the sides." He smirked as he dispersed his axe, the flames fading away for the time being. He looks to Summers, the smirk fading. "Seriously though, if we need to out-and-out disrupt it, I should be able to get enough oomph to shake up everyone in that circle. If you think that'll work, I can do it."

Ok, moving things forward a bit. Sorry it took so long. Long week at work, compounded with feeling unwell the last couple of days. Rooms are really basic. Cheap motel level furnishings, but very clean and well-lit. Concrete walls, metal or heavy plastic for a lot of stuff. No real wood or anything, maybe some fake wood though. Doors will open to the halls, but you can only go through doors that are marked on your maps. You could hack doors if you have the skill, but the comment about being underwater seems borne out to some degree; the halls are the same stone-and-metal look as the rooms. Hard to say for sure, though. No people encountered on the way to the conference room except for the other heroes. Everyone's in the same hallway of rooms; so if you leave at the same time, you'll see each other easily and right away. I'll put up my own IC for Gabriel later. :)

GM Post When they awoke, the varied heroes of Freedom City found themselves in silent, nondescript rooms. It was hard to tell where they were; the walls were apparently smooth concrete, and the furnishings were rather spartan. That said, it was clearly well-maintained and well-lit. The hero siblings were in a small double-room suite with a shared bathroom, while the rest where in smaller, one-person accomidations. Exploration revealed empty closets, bathrooms with basic toiletries and a few towels and such... And what looked like slightly sleeker, more robust "iPads" sitting on small end tables positioned next to the only chair (well, two chairs, for Jack and Jill) in the room. As soon as it was picked up, the screen would light up, and text appeared. It seemed their captors had left them notes! Those who were costumed when they were knocked out had been left as such, while those in civilian clothes had been left alone. There was no specified meeting time on the tablets, but it was likely it was "as soon as you could, please and thank you". Wherever "here" was and whoever "Your Hosts" were, anyways...

Earth Victoriana: Deliver Us From Evil (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Aoiroo's topic in The Realms Beyond
"I'll as for as much anonymity as possible, but I tend to leave a fairly memorable mark. The important thing is we saved people, and made this world a little better place. As for union movements, that's not really my expertise." He paused for a moment, then slowly leveraged himself to the side of his bed, thankful they'd given him some actual sleeping clothes, and not a flimsy hospital gown. "Yes. I think I should be ready in a couple of hours. Then, no offense to the doctors here, I think I'll stop by a friend's place and get myself patched up the rest of the way. I'm ready to get back home, where everything makes more sense." -

When they'd landed and prepared to leave the plane, Corbin had suited up just like Koshiro, Eve, and Ms. Harcourt for the cold weather. Mostly it was a measure to not make his other flesh-and-blood classmates feel ill at ease with him; a small part of the motivation was a "just in case the ring stops working or falls off", as unlikely as either possibility was. But honestly, with his ancient ring on his hand, he could have dashed through the snow as naked as the day he was born and not felt a thing out of place. He just didn't notice the cold. So between that and his own strength, he made sure he was loaded up with as much as possible (especially considering his ring's object-creation abilities). He gave a grin as they stopped at the door, patiently standing there, loaded for bear. "Well, we've certainly got enough food for a while. I'll try to take Eve-sized bites when I eat." Were it not for the goggles on his face, he'd have given a friendly wink to his slightly diminutive friend, fellow student, and comrade. Then the door to the Centurion's sanctum opened, and he took his first steps inside. Probably the only reason he didn't stop immediately to gape was the knowledge that they had to get everyone and everything inside as quickly as possible. Thus he hurried inside, moving the pile of gear he was hauling over to one side and carefully setting it down. Then, he got to the important business at hand. Casually discarding his outer layers until he was down to shirt, pants, shoes, and the goggles (which he moved to his forehead), Corbin began a slow circuit of the room. He ventured near a variety of artifacts, thinking back to the events that had spawned them. "There's a lot of history here. I mean, this is just a lot of stuff, you know? Years and years of him fighting against the likes of Superior, Omega, and all the others. Standing in the gap for every other man, woman, and child on the planet. It's...really, it's kind of humbling, being in the middle of all this history."- 176 replies

Corbin took a couple of deep breaths, steadying himself until he was ready for more. At that point, he took off after Citizen and Koshiro. His long legs ate up the small distance they had gained on him, and he shouldered his axe-construct for the moment. "Yeah. Would be hard to tell if the students are mind-controlled or just loyal. Either way, won't be pretty. Maybe if we stop her soon, she won't be able to mind-control them. Cut the head of the snake off and all that." When Koshiro asked his slightly panicky question, Cobalt Templar couldn't help but smirk. He tapped his shoulder with his overlarge weapon as he took great strides to keep up the chase. "If she's got more mutant trees, I guess we just have to do a bit of clear-cutting."

To complete the circle: Scrier's Masquerade OOC Thread
-
Freedom College, Freedom City, USA Friday, January 13th, 2012 The last class of the day had let out, at least as far as Carson was concerned. And he was glad; the first week back after winter break was always hard. The students never wanted to focus. Luckily, he'd managed to get them involved in a few simple exercises and focus that nervous energy into something other than spitballs and love notes. "Just another day in the office..." "Mister Keefe, sir?" "Hm? Oh, yes, uh...Jessica, wasn't it? What can I help you with?" "Well, I just wanted to give you this book. It's got some short skits I'd like to try doing in class this semester." "Hm. I'll take a look and see what I can work in. Let me see....That's odd. I've never heard of this author before." "You wouldn't have, not here." "What? Why...oh, my head." The contact chemical that coated the paperback took hold, and Carson started to bonelessly collapse. "Jessica" calmly caught him in deceptively small arms, before pulling out an odd-looking metal and plastic disc that she slapped on the middle of the teacher's chest, before gently laying him on the ground and gathering his papers up. The disc started to beep faster and faster, but she still had enough time to extract his keys. "I'll make sure these get put away, Sir. It's the least I can do..." And with a flash of light and a sound like tearing silk, Carson Finbar Keefe was gone from Earth Prime.
