Hm. CT is going to dash past the growing fight. As soon as he's out of sight of the rear cabin, he'll Quick Change into his costume, minus the cape. He'll then move to the cockpit and ask to enter.- 9 replies

Murder on the Victorian Express (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Supercape's topic in The Realms Beyond
GM/NPC Fenris paused for a moment at seeing the bound men, then continued into the compartment. He allowed Carrie to speak first before lending his own rumbling mechanical voice to the affair. "She's got a point. Nothing says these men are "freedom fighters" as opposed to hired hands for someone. As for the whole bit about wanting freedom...Well, not something I can condemn a people group for. For some, freedom is worth any personal price; the ones that are really dangerous are the ones who want others to pay that price for them. Your Empire's nowhere near perfect. Britain is not God's gift to Earth. Just keep that in mind. That said..." He suddenly whirls and picks one of the men up and slams his against the wall of the compartment one-handed. He lets out a mechanical snarl. "Do you understand part of what I say here? I'd say you'd be better off talking. Now." -

So. Let some ideas percolate. Going to be trimming down a few areas. Skills: That's 5PP freed up. Counting that 1pp that was floating around, that's 6 free PP. Moving on. Feats: That's another 3PP saved (he'll just have to get by on complications! ). 9PP freed. Now, back to the ring. Time for some radical reinvention.: That's 52 out of 90 points spent. 38 to go. But wait! there's 9pp laying around. I think I'll put 8PP into the Device, making it an even 20, with 100dp. Device 20 (Power Ring, 100PP Container, Flaws: Hard-To-Lose, Feats: Restricted 2) (Holy, Magic) [82PP] That last remaining PP? It'll go into Fort Save! And I think I'll move 1PP from Reflex to Fort as well. So now I'll actually work on this Device. 52PP spent, 48 remaining. This has freed 8PP up, and I have a couple places to spend them...Soon. Most maths are done, though my Strike still needs fleshed out. Oh, and those 8pp.

--Yeah, whatever. Think you and Sharl can hold this ***** off until I get people evacuated to the rest of the plane?-- Barely waiting for an answer, Corbin stood up calmly and turned to face the other first-class passengers and staff. When he spoke, his voice rang out in clear, commanding tones, his face an implacable mask. "Ladies and gentlemen, passenger and staff alike, I would now ask that you move to the next section of the plane. This situation will shortly be contained, but for your safety we ask that you move in an orderly fashion to clear the area." --Key is to act like I know what I'm doing, and that I have a right to ask this.-- He made a "shoo" gesture with his hands. "Now would be good, please."

ic Graduation Day: The Earth Died Screaming (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The Realms Beyond
Cobalt Templar had slept somewhat fitfully; never truly waking up during the night, but still having half-lucid moments that disappeared as quickly as they came. His dreams had been strange, distorted, disjointed, filled with danger and love and sadness and colors and darkness. 'I blame this bloody ring. No, wait, I blame the ************ Terminus.' Corbin's parents, despite not knowing Ancient Greek, would likely have grounded him for the word he just thought. But at the moment, he didn't care. He stared at the map in pensive thought before finally speaking up. "I won't speak to the overall strategy, but I will say that I can provide at least a degree of cover for the bike. About 50 cubic feet or so. It's not impervium, but it'll slow stuff down. Plus, I think I can stack it, so they have to go through a couple of layers. It'll be able to keep up with me, though you'll want to tell me what shape and position beforehand; I'm not very good with moving it around yet. I could if I had to, but it'd take some work. On the plus side, I could also provide cover fire while providing, uh, cover." He glanced down at his ring. "I don't know how easy or hard it would be for them to detect it, but it's worth a shot, right?"- 51 replies

Round 2, Reinvent! So, 82PP to play with. Next up is Feats. Current: I can say right away that DF is going away; Instant Up seems redundant, what with the flying. Same cost as before, but this gives him way more options; being able to crank out full-on All-Out and Power Attacks will be nice. More Luck is good for his two (and there will be 2) Arrays. 75PP left to play with. Hm. Current powers: Gonna have to play with this a bit. Ring itself first. So, that's 54PP right there. That leaves me 21PP to use. Hrm. Problem is, I was looking to boost his Con and Str outside the ring. But with only 21, I could, at best, do 5 to each. or 10 to only one of them. not a fan of that. If I plug 20 into the Ring, it gives me 25 inside to play with. I'll figured out what to do with that 1 in a minute. Adding 20 to the pool makes it cost 74 (adding in the Restricted 2), which makes it rank 18, which makes it 90pp inside. 25 more PP...but I'm not sure it's enough. I think I'll put this on pause for tonight. Perhaps I need a more radical solution...

Corbin had shed his coat and tie while they were riding to the airport; by the time they were boarding the plane, he was wearing a short-sleeved white undershirt and his slacks, with his dress shoes exchanged for tennis shoes. That he had done all of this without smashing someone's face in, despite his rather large presence in the van, was a small miracle. "Don't worry, I'll put the rest of the monkey suit on after we land. But there's no way I'm flying from her to Mumbai in that whole getup." Once on the plane, he settled himself into the just-large-enough seat, a sigh of contentment escaping his lips. "First class: Always worth it." He glanced at Sharl, and shrugged at his comment. "Whatever you like, man. I won't make you sleep or stay up. Not like we need to keep guard or anything. It's a nice peaceful international flight."

Cobalt Templar. Now Power Level 11. 163 PP to play with. Right then. First, Stats. Currently, we've got the below. In examining that, I think it's basically where I want it to be, physical-stats wise. Corbin's a big, buff dude. He's not clumsy by any means, but his natural grace is second to his natural strength and hardiness. I think at this point, I could justify a Wisdom boost, and really, he needs to be a smart guy to know so many languages. I'm thinking 14s should do it. New Stats: On to Combat. Current block: Init will likely stay the same; I don't foresee him being the guy who's always "first in line", but he's not a dead-last. Grapple and Knockback will be revisted later. I think I'm going to go for a fully Toughness-shifted character. Which means...Hm. 16 Toughness, 6 Defense. I think I'll make the sacrifice to give him 6 Base Defense; he's been training with Young Freedom, and he's not much of a "dodger" in my mind. His Attack...hm. I'm not going to do any trade-offs there, since I think he'd want to be an accurate person. Thus, I'll want to keep to the same idea of "ring boosts Attack", but give him more Attack overall. Perhaps 7 Base, with 4 coming from the ring. Worst case, he won't totally stink at fisticuffs if it comes to it. So far, we've spent....52 Power Points. Still, that leaves 111PP to play with. On to Saves. Current block: For one thing, his Toughness will need to be left alone for a moment. I'm thinking of re-tweaking how he's getting it, so we'll leave it be. His Will, unchanged, would be +8. Not bad, but I think I want it at +10; the GL inspiration means this guy's strong of mind. Reflex needs to be higher than 5, but not super-high; he's not an agile character first and foremost. 7 total bonus should do. Fortitude...will need to be revisted. So only 13 spent there so far. 65 spent overall. Leaves us...98PP. Doing good. Current Skills: This one's a bit of a sticky wicket. I think Earth Sciences needs to go. I'm going to shuffle some of this other stuff... I've tried to compress things a bit, letting what will happen to his strength cover his climb score. In considering it, past experience would likely have used lots of gear, which likely gives buku bonuses. 81PP spent, 82 left to go. I think I'll tackle Feats, Powers, and touching up his Fort Save and such for later.

ic Graduation Day: The Earth Died Screaming (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The Realms Beyond
Corbin blinked. Then blinked again. He took over a minute to really formulate a response. When he did speak, he instantly felt bad, like it didn't cover the magnitude of what Erin was implying. "Oh. I didn't....I guess that makes sense." He shuffled nervously over to what looked to be the fire pit. He held his ring up, flaring a bit of flame off of it without doing anything further. "I could start it. Doesn't really take much, and it won't make the fire burn blue or anything. And yeah, the tents look good. Not that I'm an expert. Haven't done much camping, even back at..." He glanced at Red Falcon. "Even when I was out at Masada. We had a trailer then. So, yeah. Hooray first camping experience?" He gave an awkward smile and conjured himself a chair near the fire pit, ready to start it if asked. Just before he sat down, his cape and armor vanished, leaving him in what seemed to be a thick cloth "under-suit" that still fit in with the neo-medieval aesthetic his costume used.- 51 replies

This thread is being somewhat revised, since my major rebuilds have been completed. My Scratchpad will be where I do my more esoteric work, and this thread will be where I post the final version/working draft of sheets. This will be used to update sheets for when I use monthly PP, so that I and the refs have an easy reference for changes and such. Table of Contents -Cobalt Templar -Gabriel -Fenris *Pending* -Thoughtspeed *Pending*
-
Gabriel blinked and actually leaned back a bit from the host. The smile that crept onto his face was genuine. 'I have to admire his determination to keep us "on-course".' He cleared his throat and looked properly contrite when he next spoke. "I apologize if I unnecessarily inflamed the rhetoric occurring here tonight." Gabriel stood up with a smile and made a show of working out some kinks in his back. "I'll show off a couple of the less destructive ones, though if some of you gents could bring me out a piece of inch-thick plywood, and maybe some sheet metal. Excellent, couldn't do it without you boys." With that, he suddenly lifts into the air, the studio mikes just barely picking up the hum of the sonic energy swirling around him. A look of concentration crossed his face as he pointed to a spot in the air above the audience. Suddenly, what sounded like a very loud firecracker went off, but with no flash. "Whew. It's harder to do that one so weak, instead of blowing everyone's ears out. But that wouldn't make for a fun show, folks! A lot of my "tricks of the trade" tend to work against people first, and aren't really the sorts of things I'll ask for volunteers regarding. Ah, there's my two bits of demonstration material. Stand back a bit, all." First he pointed at the slab of wood. He adjusted his aim, and there was a suddenly low-pitched sound that resonated in everyone's bones, a rippling of the air in a line between Gabriel and the plywood, and suddenly the sheet was cracked in half. "Of course, that metal's got a bit more to it. Luckily..." He again sent a "beam" of sound at the target, though this time the sound was more like a sort of *hum* that many people felt. The metal seemed to warp and even slightly melt before he stopped and walked over to it. A light push of his hand had it snapping in half, a few bits crumbling off. He turned back to the audience, dusting off his hands. "Handy for fighting giant robots and the occasional super-zombie."

Post up. The [GM] tage is solely for post-counting. And Fenris won't get back on the train until we're at the point, round-wise or whatever, that he's clear to do so.

Murder on the Victorian Express (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Supercape's topic in The Realms Beyond
GM/NPC "Thank you for the compliment. It took hard work and no small amount of time." That his invention was really Swedish wasn't something that needed discussed here and now. "As for the Thugee...I saw the attack. Can't say I saw or heard why. I'd rather not speculate with no information." He glanced over as Jubatus returned with the "escaped" Thugees. Seeing them just appear, one by one, with a multicolored blur moving around near the pile, was a bit odd, but one learned to keep in stride with odd things when you were a hero. "I'm afraid I'm not well-versed in your native tongue. My comrade has apprehended the others; we'll allow you gentlemen to take care of the interrogation from here. Best of luck to you." He gestured for the cat-man to follow. Once they were further out of earshot, he spoke softly. "I'm going to speed around to the other side of the train and climb on-board. I'd rather avoid too many awkward questions. We need to get back to the others, maybe compare notes on what we know so far." With that, he hunched forward a bit, and suddenly there was a rush of air, a flash of light, and he was out of immediate sight, and on the other side of the train. -
After the handshake with Sharl, Corbin turned and took a step towards Miss Americana, and offered her a hand to shake. His smile was just as strong and sincere as it was a moment before. "Ma'am, it's an honor to meet you. Everything I've heard about you says you do great work. Don't worry, we'll make sure to take good care of Sharl here." He stepped back, nodding as Sharl spoke. "The headmaster made sure we understood what we'd need to do to make sure you were set. I don't foresee it being a "bother"." He glanced at Eve, barely managing not to roll his eyes. ~Try not to drool, Eve.~ His mental voice was good-natured and teasing. "I'd imagine all of use might surprise each other at what we can do. That's just one of the fun things in life, though."

ic Graduation Day: The Earth Died Screaming (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The Realms Beyond
The newest and least experienced member of Young Freedom had quietly followed the others into the small wooded area, trying to stay alert for danger. Still, he was a bit frustrated not knowing why they couldn't sleep in any buildings. "Why is it safer to sleep outside instead of in a building?" He seems embarrassed, but also a bit frustrated. He gestures around them. "I mean, we're not exactly in a natural fortress or anything. Sure it's secluded, but...What makes building so bad? Just what makes this world so dangerous? The Terminus?" Corbin's words are likely to not help the mood...but the boy is also the one least informed about the world Erin came from. About the dangers that might lurk here. "I don't need the nitty gritty details, but I'm still kind of confused about this place."- 51 replies

1.)He will be a Tier 2 NPC. Meaning even if he already had that status, you couldn't just play him willy nilly. So, even your "I thought he was going to be an NPC" step wasn't correct, since he's not Tier 1. I did clearly mark this in my edit request; it simply hasn't been implemented quite yet. My intent with making him an NPC was that I could keep playing in this thread myself, while simultaneously allowing my Bronze reward to shift to Cobalt Templar, and to have the character "fade off-screen" in an overall sense. So, I am still going to be playing the character for this thread. Which means I'll be getting 1/2 credit for posts. Which means I don't want you making posts for me. Does that make sense?
-
Cubist...why are you posting reactions for my character? EDIT: To put this another way: I am requesting that you remove the portion of your post where you roleplay my character. I realize it might be slightly frustrating waiting for me to post, but I'm not posting for Fenris until he's officially made an NPC. But when he is, I want to make sure I get all appropriate post credits. So you'll understand why this perturbs me.

Corbin sighed at Eve's advice, but stopped outwardly fidgeting. ~I'm wearing a brightly colored-noose and a jacket that's a size too small thanks to me growing an inch in the last couple of months. If I could I'd be doing this in a polo and jeans. I need to distract myself from the discomfort.~ The first mental distraction is discarded quickly as too distracting. He settles for focusing some of his attention in his ring's input, and the energy flows from it. The flame-like flicker of energy was oddly comforting. By the time the were in the elevator, he was halfway into a meditative state. His eyes even flashed blue for a moment. He shook his head and shifted a bit, his hands twitching towards his jacket and tie. "That was probably too distracting for me, too. I suppose suffering's good for the soul, or something. So they say, anyways." And then they were in the room, and Corbin had a broad smile on his face, a hand extended for Sharl to shake. "Hello, Sharl. Nice to meet you." It was hard to tell, but his eyes might have glanced at Miss Americana for a split second. ~Please act like he's never met me, at least for now. I'd rather not reveal things to Miss Americana, trustworthy that she may be. She's a smart woman, and can probably connect some dots already.~

The hero in blue flinched a bit at the female ghost's attacks. It hurt, and for a moment he couldn't see straight, but he shook it off. He glanced at the ghost, before focusing on the ghost's controller. "Seriously, dude? This is just messed up." He burned through the air towards the sickly-looking spell-caster, and suddenly Cobalt Templar was right next to him, giant fist and all. He had a slightly manic grin on his face as he reared back for a devastating blow with his construct-shrouded hand. "Time to take a nap, necro-nerd!" His arm blurred forward, hopefully rocking the necromancer's world.
-
I think I'll move to engage the Necromancer in up-close-and-personal fighting. Move Action: Put myself next to Necro-dude. All-Out Attack 2: Attack becomes +11, Defense becomes +3 Power Attack 2: Attack becomes +9, Save DC goes up by 2 Standard Action: Melee Attack Necro-Dude. 21 to hit him. Time to give him a brief history of pain with the back of my hand! DC 26 Toughness Save.

DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN Okay, this is going to be a sort of 2-parter, because what I'm asking to be done here will change what I can do with another character. I would like to convert Fenris into a Tier 2 Non-Player Character. This will allow me to finish the one active thread he's in, and possibly guest-star in 1 or 2 threads that might happen in the somewhat near future. This frees up my Bronze Award. I would like to use that Bronze Award to promote Cobalt Templar from a PL7 slot to a PL10 slot, with the appropriate division on his so-far-awarded power points taking place. Once this is done, I will submit a full revision for CT, as well as an edit/revision of Gabriel. DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN

Corbin Hughes walked slowly into the lobby, still fiddling with his dark blue tie and the black jacket of his classically cut suit. He was clearly less than comfortable in his rather formal attire. He glanced at his "partner" with a wry smile. "As well off as my parents are, you'd think we could get a suit that fits me better. Guess I'm just not cut out for these things." His expression turned contemplative as he considered the man at the desk. ~I'll let you handle the introductions and such. You seem to have a bit more of a people knack than me. I'll pitch in when needed.~
