GM Valvportmann smiled under his mask as his other teammate arrived. <Took you long enough, babe! If everyone will pardon me, I have loot to keep gathering!> With that, he ducked through a portal that snapped open and closed in the space of a couple of seconds. Sounds from the open lab door indicated he hadn't gone far, but he'd taken the least risky route. Katkvinna just shook her head as she charged at Dragonfly again, this time going for a heavier punch, something of a solid right cross (at least in intent). However, she misjudged her target, and ended up hitting only air before skidding to a stop a few feet away, her back to Fenris and the final member of the snatch-and-grab team. <Tsk. He always does like to duck out when things get hot. If he weren't better for moving around than a van, I'd have throttled his sorry face a while ago.>

Hallway/Lab Fight, Round 3: 22: Dragonfly: 3xBruised, 2 HP 21: Sneak Thief: Unhurt 20: Fenris: 1xInjured, 1xBruised, 0 HP (Fatigued on Round 4) 8: Katkvinna: Unhurt 8: Valvportmann: 2xBruised So, first to Katkvinna. She's going to "crank up the heat" a little bit. She's going to be using Move-By Attack again, but... Power Attack for 5: Attack becomes +10, but Toughness DC becomes 25. Move Action: Run past Dragonfly again. Standard Action: Melee Attack 15; she'd have missed even at full attack. Well, so it goes. Meanwhile, Valvportmann is going to use both Move Actions to get inside the lab area again and start stuffing that duffel bag. The others seem to have things well in hand, and you wouldn't want the ride home getting knocked out! Hallway/Lab Fight, Round 4: 22: Dragonfly: 3xBruised, 2 HP 21: Sneak Thief: Unhurt 20: Fenris: 1xInjured, 1xBruised, 0 HP (Fatigued on Round 4) 8: Katkvinna: Unhurt 8: Valvportmann: 2xBruised Dragonfly is up.

The armored hero barely turned in time to even see his attacker; the bullets struck true. Unfortunately for him, the barrage struck a weak joint area, leaving him with a minor injury in his left arm, as well as soreness all over that shoulder. Thankfully, some of that was mitigated by the upgrades he'd just applied to himself. He felt the rush of the nanites doing their job. <I am sick of being shot at in a hospital!> He turned and fired off two snap shots from his Particle Projection Cannons, sending bolts of man-made lightning down-range. Unfortunately, only one of them even came close to the morphic thief, and even that one missed. The hero in wolf's clothing gave a wordless snarl of disgust.

Right then. Poor Fenris is in a target-rich environment. Poor Sneak Thief just put herself at the top of the list. Also, between the fact that his timing is "poor" in that it risks correlating "Fenris" and "Baron Katastroff", his general Sense of Chivalry, the fact that this is his hospital, and the risk to Eira, I'm granting him a Hero Point. So, moving on. All Out Attack for 2, so +2 Attack, -2 Defense. Means +10 on attacks, +3 on Defense (he's Toughness shifted, so them's the breaks). Power Attack for 2, so +2 Damage/DC, -2 Attack. So DC 25 on (in this case) Blast, +8 Attack Free Action: Switch weapons array to PPCs (Blast 8) Standard Action: Fire at Sneak Thief 24, which would be great, but she's defense-shifted, so misses by one. Forget that. HP to reroll. 10 is not better! Even with an extra 10, that's only 20! Free Action: Extra Effort to Surge Standard Action: Fire another shot! 15! Curses! That's a miss. No more HP or anything, either. :? Hallway/Lab Fight, Round 3: 22: Dragonfly: 3xBruised, 2 HP 21: Sneak Thief: Unhurt 20: Fenris: 1xInjured, 1xBruised, 0 HP (Fatigued on Round 4) 8: Katkvinna: Unhurt 8: Valvportmann: 2xBruised Incidentally, if you feel there are conditions that would provoke a complication for your hero, by all means bring them up, and I'll try to hand HP out as the situation merits.

Reflex Save first. 23. Almost only counts in horseshoes and orbital bombardment, so... 17. Prone it is, then. 9; I can't catch a break tonight.

Slotting Sneak Thief in at Init 19. Hallway/Lab Fight, Round 3: 22: Dragonfly: 3xBruised, 2 HP 21: Sneak Thief: Unhurt 20: Fenris: 1xInjured, 1xBruised, 0 HP 8: Katkvinna: Unhurt 8: Valvportmann: 2xBruised Dragonfly shot and missed, Sneak Thief hit, and...hm. Looks like it's to Fenris.
-
Hoboy. Let's give this one a shot. As it were. 23. That means I pick up a Bruise, an Injury, and Stunned. I'm going to have him shake off the Stun with his Hero Point.

Gabriel remained silent during their trip into Windhearth, trying to maintain an aloof presence that matched Grimalkin's. He walked with his hands clasped behind his back, working to appear as something of an aide-de-camp to Lady Grimalkin. "Indeed. These plots may bring threat to the realm from all corners. You should impart all due haste as you explain the reason for this visit." He glowered faintly at the Sidhe lord, not really trying to cower him, but merely to establish the severity of their task and presence.

ic Graduation Day: The End of the Beginning (IC)

Cobalt Templar had been quietly satisfied when his blow had rocked the helicopter, though he'd been a bit frustrated he didn't managed to one-hit-KO it like Midnight had his primary target. But then he was too busy watching Wander turn tanks into scrap metal. "Holy crap. She's like a one-woman army..." He shook his head and saw the choppers retreating. It would have brought a smile to his face, except he saw his teammate still grappled to one. A glance told him that Sage would likely stay occupied for a bit, and of course Wander couldn't fly. Edge was a bit far away as well; CT, on the other hand, was in virtually the perfect spot. With a determined look set on his face, he blazed closer to the chopper trailing a costumed hero, until he was perhaps 20 or so feet away. At that distance, he raised his ring hand, and, with a look of concentration, extended a faintly visible hand of ethereal blue flames to start enveloping Midnight. The flames burned nothing as they touched him; the fire appearance seemed tied mostly to CT's powers, rather than any inherent burning aspect. "Try not to fight against it, Midnight. It won't burn, and I'll have you back with the group ASAP. Not quite strong enough to catch the whole chopper yet, but you're a piece of cake comparatively speaking." -

Cobalt Templar can catch Midnight, but his TK or CO aren't powerful enough (yet) to catch a full helicopter. So, I'll have him fly in and snatch Midnight; the chopper's close enough to the ground it ought to be okay, but Trevor's not as ideally placed. -
There was the sound of slowly rolling thunder, then a white speck appeared in the sky above them, spiraling down towards the position of the three. After perhaps 15 seconds, the speck resolved itself into the speeding figure of Gabriel. With a strangely silent set of motions, he landed on the ground near the others, ending up in a slightly crouched position. He straightened and walked over to the others with a slight smile on his face, one that grew a bit at the sight of Fleur's condition. He moved to give her a gentle hug. "Glad to see you're doing as well as can be expected. Hopefully we'll get this wrapped up quickly so you and the little one can get back to resting and preparing for the, ah, "big event"." He moved over to Freedom Angel, a grin on his face. He offered the winged warrior of virtue a firm handshake. "Heyzel, a pleasure to see you. Glad to hear you're back in town. Nasty business with that big wolf a bit back. Sorry we couldn't reunite under less trying circumstances." Finally he moved to Gaian Knight, offering another firm handshake. "Glad to work with you again as well. Looks like we've got a very solid team here." He took a couple of steps back and glanced towards the prison for a moment, before his gaze returned to the little group they had assembled. "Do we have much in the way of a plan yet?"

Gabriel had been enjoying a good novel when Heyzel called; he'd already eaten and cleaned up from breakfast by that point. He raised an eyebrow at the request that was, at the moment, out of the blue. "Hold on, let me look at the map...Okay, I see where it is. As for how long? Minute, two tops. I'm pretty quick in the air when I want to be, and I change pretty quick. But what's got you so worked up?" He could tell this wasn't a social call. On a whim, he turned the television on, and it started back at the beginning of the sketchy information the networks and news channels had. "Oh. Well. That would do it. Man, poor Fleur. They cant' keep this guy pinned down, can they? Also, giant robot bees...ugh. Give me 120 seconds or so, and I'll be at the location." With that, he hung up the phone, turned off the television, and raced into the bedroom to make a quick change of clothes...

Behind Katkvinna, the distinctive *ding* of elevator doors opening could be heard. Less distinctive, but still audible, was a strange rush of air, and a subtle crackle and hum of building energy. Then, suddenly, a metallic wolf-man was standing just a few feet behind Katkvinna. The figure was crouched slightly, claws extended and glowing, the face actually moving around a bit as it snarled. And then, it spoke. "Sie haben das Leben von unschuldigen Kindern in den Weg legen schaden. Sie sind unverzeihlich Abschaum. Bereitet euch auf meinen Zorn, der Zorn der Wölfe Metall der Welt Stirnseite!" Energy crackled along his forearms as he spoke, the claws twitching as if in anticipation. There was no mistaking the cold anger in his voice and his posture, though the reasoning would, mostly likely, be less obvious. Fenris had taken the field of battle.

And now for the hero you've all been waiting for, with freshly-active Regen and Datalink...Fenris! Hey, 20, I can live with that. So, we'd start the top of our Round 3 with Dragonfly, and then Fenris. So.... Hallway/Lab Fight, Round 2: 22: Dragonfly: 3xBruised, 2 HP 20: Fenris: Unhurt, 1 HP 8: Katkvinna: Unhurt 8: Valvportmann: 2xBruised EDIT: For the curious, a translation of the German in the post:

GM Valvportmann's shout was one of fear, even as Katkvinna rolled her eyes. The portal-generating thief barely wriggled out of Dragonfly's grip. Mere moments later, Katkvinna took advantage of Dragonfly's preoccupation with the somewhat cowardly man and dashed by her, placing another precise blow that was thankfully underpowered against the high-tech armor. The beautiful burglar frowned lightly as she came to a stop not far from the sharp corner in the hall; this one in particular led to the elevator bank. <Come on now, at least try to act professional! This girl's doing a better job of that than you are! No offense meant by that, darling. He's just the skittish sort. You know this is nothing personal, right? Just here to grab some nice samples and leave. No one's really hurt, and the highest bidders find themselves with some very nice prizes. I'm sure the folks who invented these trifles can do it again.> Meanwhile, Valvportmann started backpedaling away from Dragonfly, panick evident in his words and jerky motions. <Why am I surrounded by crazy women! Ack, go away, you heard the lady over there! We're not aiming to hurt anyone if you leave us alone!> He attempted another barrage of sharpened rocks, but the attack just carved notches into the walls. <Stand still!>

First, status update: Hallway/Lab Fight, Round 2: 22: Dragonfly: 2xBruised, 2 HP 8: Katkvinna: Unhurt 8: Valvportmann: 2xBruised Fenris: Will arrive and roll init this round after Valvportmann's action this round, so that he acts on Round 3, wherever his init falls. So, moving to actions. Katkvinna I like the thematics of Move-By-Attack in this situation, especially with Portalist involved. So.. Move Action: Run past Dragonfly, attacking as she goes, ending up not far from a corner that happens to lead to the elevator. Standard Action: Yowza, 32 should do it. DC 20 Toughness Save. End turn for her, on to... Valvportmann Hm. I think he'll... Move Action: Take several cautionary steps back, in the opposite direction of Katkvinna (thus making it harder for Dragonfly to engage them both). Standard Action: Portal Barrage 16 misses. He's still shaken up about almost being Pocketed!

"How dare I? How dare I what? How dare I defend the innocent, the threatened? How dare I strike down your army of unholy monsters? No, I ask you: How dare I not? And you? You are beaten." With that proclamation, Gabriel sent another wave of sound racing towards the sorcerer, the air humming as he did so. The bolt seemed to strike true. "Your dark master, if there is such a person, is next."
-
Gonna keep hovering. Gonna shoot at the bad guy. 20 hits, so... That'll be a DC 27 Toughness Save.
-
First, the Reflex Save. And that's a natural 20, for a 26. Still, was a cool attack. Just mean the fight tension continues, which will make it more fun when it becomes 2 on 2!

I wasn't trying to correlate rounds between corridor and VR too heavily, unless you guys would prefer it be that way. One way or another, Dragonfly is up.

Corbin had blinked his eyes to try to get rid of the last lingering effects of their travel. It was definitely the strangest way to move about; even Mark's teleport didn't feel exactly the same to him. 'Maybe I'm just over-sensi...tive...' He stood there gazing at the devastation outside. "Holy Crap." The whirling of rotors attracted his notice. His eyes narrowed as he saw the helicopters and the tanks rolling for the house. He wasn't sure what was up, but those looked to be Nazi war vehicles. And if the Nazis were attacking it, maybe whoever was there could be an ally. Of course, before he could process the thought further, Midnight had jumped into action. Well, jumped, then flew, then kicked some Nazi tail, then grappled to another chopper. "Since when could he-! Is he going to-!" The young man in blue spent a moment in awe of the senior. "Did he just throw a helicopter at a tank?" He shook his head, realizing he had to "get in the game". Without another word, Cobalt Templar burned into the sky, leaving a slight trail of blue fire in his wake. His path took him towards the helicopter that didn't currently have a teammate attached to it. As he flew, CT concentrated and shaped his will and imagination; the result was a large sword that appeared in his hands. Said sword was raised over his head, and brought down in a powerful overhand chop at the tail of the helicopter he was positioned near. "Hah!" -

CT will spend an HP to act in ye olde Surprise Round. Move Action to get over to the Un-Damaged, Midnight-less chopper. Standard Action to use a Strike! 15! 1 off! I shall Hero Point to reroll! Now I get the 27... That'll be a DC 24 Toughness Save from the blasted Nazi Helicopter! -
Cobalt Templar goes on a whopping 11.

GM Valvportmann let out a cry of shock and pain as the shockwave struck him square in the back. It sent him pitching forward into the table in front of him, with his chest striking the edge of the table. The various bottles and other items on it rattled dangerously, but nothing broke (on the table, at least). <OW! That hurt, damn it!> Katkvinna had already dropped her bag on the table, executing a picture-pefect about-face and dashing directly at Dragonfly. The thief's path took her just to one side of the hero, and she sent out a precision strike at what looked like a vulnerable spot on the armor before she stopped a few feet out into the hall, in a slight crouch. <Stop being a wimp and help me out here! By the way dear, nice armor. Stings a bit when I hit you. Too bad it's two on one.> The smirk on her face was borne out when Valvportmann stood up and whirled to face Dragonfly, rage clear in his voice. <I'll teach you who's better at inter-dimensional blasting!> Suddenly a vicious hail of obsidian shards shot out from a half-dozen small portals hovering around the group's "transport", all of them trying to file away at Dragonfly's armor...
-
Hm. Yeah, he's hit no matter what. So... 12 on a DC 25. Failed by...13. That's Staggered and Stunned. Ouch. Far too much ouch this early on; sorry Fox, but I'd rather keep him active for a couple of rounds, at least. So I'm turning that into 2 Bruises. Have a Hero Point for the Fiat. To better keep track of things: Hallway/Lab Fight, Round 1: 22: Dragonfly: Unhurt, 3 HP 8: Katkvinna: Unhurt 8: Valvportmann: 2xBruised Fenris: Will arrive and roll init next round (after Valvportmann's action that round, so that he acts on Round 3) So, first to go is Katkvinna. Since she's not the one getting the drop, she'll go for a more direct approach. She's going to use Move-By Action to get out into the hall (away from the merchandise, and with a bit more room to play with) as she tries for an unarmed attack. 32 likely hits. Since I did nothing fancy with that one, that'll be a whopping DC 20 Toughness Save from Dragonfly. Meanwhile, Valvportmann doesn't like getting hit with spatial blasts, and decides to throw a bunch of sharp rocks (obsidian, specifically) at her (he visited this one place a while ago that had a bunch of the stuff sitting around!). Portal Barrage 26! That's an Autofire with reduced interval, so, as I understand it, with DF's defense at 22, and me getting a 26, that's a +4 to the Toughness DC. Which makes it a Toughness Save DC 29. I think (Rank 10 Blast is 25, +4 is 29). Dragonfly is up.
