  1. When his shots failed to do anything, Cobalt Templar grit his teeth in annoyance. "Dang thing is tough." When Nick used his necromancy to permanently subdue the undead creature, CT sighed in relief and let his "boomstick" vanish. He frowned as he considered the situation. "Man, I feel like I'm just tagging along. Also, necromancy plus "science"? That sounds like a nasty combination. I say we find this guy and hogtie him. We take away his toys, he shouldn't be as dangerous, right?"
  2. Cobalt Templar thanked the janitor for his time and information. He turned to the others, frowning. "Alright. So we've got one lead. Who can likely give us a great deal more information, assuming he's not too nervous..." He gives a helpless shrug, gesturing at the nigh-empty building and the night sky. "But it's not exactly normal business hours. And even with what we know, unless the police can get a lot more out of them, we'd be on shaky ground trying to track this guy down. I mean, if he's at his home, we can't just bust in and start barking questions. Well, we could, but I don't like it. But waiting until he comes in for work is awkward, and gives "Mista R" time to go to ground. Do either of you have thoughts?"
  3. You thought I'd forgotten about this? Haha, you were wrong! *In-Progress* Indigo Ring Color: Indigo Emotion/Mind-state: Compassion, Tyranny Intended Role: Mind-Spy, Mental Combatant. Summary: The Ring of the Mind-Spy was created as yet another "support" ring; while it has some potent ability to attack, either directly or indirectly, its greatest strength is in its ability to gather and disseminate information. Its wielder can read minds, or simply extend their senses to cover huge areas. And then, in a short amount of time, they can turn around and send that information to their comrades. Add to it their ability to strike at an opponent's mind directly, and they're formidable indeed. Whether the ring-user attacks their mind and will directly, fires a concentrated bolt of mind-stuff, takes control of their mind, or simply overwhelms them with fear, despair, or even love, they are a foe not to be underestimated. Though they work best in a group, an experienced user of this ring could set themselves up as a ruler, due to the depth of their mental powers. Such would be the slippery slope they may face if they adopt an "ends justify the means" attitude with their abilities. Powerset: When "x" is used, it denotes a number that can be adjusted by the player, to best fit it to the individual character (especially their PL) Notes: Honestly, the mental array here pilfers a lot from Psyche and Scarab. Since this design is intended as a "framework", rather than a hard and fast sheet, I'm not too worried over that. Feel free to add or drop powers, power feats, etc. Beyond that, higher-level versions of people who use this should look into social skills, and possibly boosts in the ring (either via Cha, or straight skill boosts). This person has a handle on people skills due to mind reading and thoughtful approach. The non-will-save blast is standard because it would suck to be useless against mind-immune enemies, and this isn't someone for fisticuffs. So I'd fluff it as something almost like a "TK Blast". But no TK for this build; it's focused on the mind itself, not the world around it. The idea for a villain-build version of this is that compassion could run to tyranny. After all, you want to help all those people, and how better to do that than running everything for them? Perhaps a powerful enough version could have two arrays, one of them with a wide-area Mind Control the ring-user could keep almost constantly active. All are equal in the Indigo land... On the other hand, a hero with this is a shaper of fights, working to impede enemies so the more martial-focused characters can take opponents down in smaller numbers. Yellow and Indigo together would be pretty potent, leaving you with the ability to manage groups much larger than your own (between powerful illusions and powerful mind control). So be careful. As always, feel free to generally tweak and adjust the array and other powers. The big things are 1.)No TK/Create Object, 2.)No Teleport, 3.)Majority of "active" powers focused on mental effects in some way or another.
  4. Corbin chuckled. 'Gorgeous? Try incredibly beautiful, rivaling the majesty of the unmarred night sky. Filled with poise and...I'll stop now.' "I agree with Eve; you're a person, laws or no. I think it's just that laws haven't quite caught up yet; progress moves so fast these day,s you know? Anyways, it sounds like Miss Americana is a very generous person, on top of already being a great hero. I hope that one day, her efforts can be fully recognized. Maybe she'll be one of the ones to lead the charge in AI rights?" 'Is it just me, or does this guy take "hero worship" to somewhat discomforting new heights?'
  5. "The last time I saw a "supernaturally sexy" fae woman who was intruding on our world, she slit a man's throat and tried to wipe an innocent town off the map. You'll forgive me if I'm more ready to assume the worst." He frowned at the comments from Grim and Nick. "Curiouser and curiouser...So, either we're dealing with a "rebel" Fae...or we've got a Faerie Queen starting to make small intrusions on our world. Not exactly happily ever after..." At the beard comment, Gabriel threw a smirk towards Nick. "I don't know, I think I could pull off a great big bushy beard without too much trouble. Anyways, I'm going to see if I can find any more hints around here." Gabriel took a couple of minutes to search, before sighing and returning to the center of the room, where he waited for the others. "I've got nothing. At least, nothing more than what we know already..."
  6. "Holy smokes! That's a big zombie!" Instinctively, CT's aura flare and he flew backwards a few feet, before surprise was replaced with resolve. Ethereal fire swirled around him, before concentrating in his hands. After a few moments, it mostly solidified. Cobalt Templar was now holding a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun. Using both hands to steady his aim, he pulled both "triggers", and a huge burst of "shotgun pellets" made of holy fire roared outwards, heading for center mass on the large zombie. "This is my boomstick! That's right, buddy! Eat magical fire!"
  7. GIANT ZOMBIE! Blast Power All-Out Attack, +2 Attack -2 Defense Power Attack, +2 Damage, -2 Attack 24, ought to hit. That'll be a DC 26 Toughness Save from the zombie. Because of ma boomstick! :D
  8. "I think I'm the only one of us three who's gone to more "normal"-" Quotation marks made of blue flame appear for a moment around Cobalt Templar. "-schools. Eve here did gymnastics a few years back, so that kind of shifted her learning schedule. This is actually her first year in not only this school, or "normal" school, but the country itself, even. Her loss, I suppose." He gives her a cheeky grin. "And she's right; different that it might be, having friends around helps, especially if things happened to hamper that in the past. So, you say Miss Americana is "nice". She's a superhero, and a good-looking one at that, but what else is "nice" about her?" 'Don't think Quo-Dis would care if I objectively admire a fine specimen of the female gender, do you?'
  9. A search check? Gabriel's natural enemy! 13; that roll would have been better had I ranks. Oh well.
  10. Gabriel winces as he settles to the ground, rubbing his throat a big. The discomfort doesn't seem to be long-lasting, though. He gives the others a smile as he speaks. "Well. That went fairly well, in the end. Whew." He put his arms up and hands behind his head in the classic pose of an athlete cooling off after a hard race. Clearly his powers exerted some effort on his part. "Half the time I felt like I could barely breath or hear in this place!" His expression grew more serious. "That said, I'm glad we cleansed such an unholy thing from this place. Without having to burn down part of the neighborhood." He closed his eyes and spoke softly, so the others may or may not be able to hear him. "Thank you for giving us the strength to stop this threat, Lord. May You continue to grant us that strength. Amen."
  11. Cobalt Templar shrugs at Sharl. "It's a broad category. Really, you're you, that's the important part." He looks at Eve, as if listening to regular speech for a moment, before nodding and turning back towards Citizen. "She's telepathic and telekinetic. That's how she flies: with telekinesis. The wings are just for show, plus how her brain decides things ought to look. I'm not a psychologist or anything, though. She says it's like a hologram, though." He smiles and stage-whispers to Citizen. "Personally, I wonder if it's her brain's way of helping make sure a strong gust of wind doesn't blow her away, "hologram wings" or no." He resumes speaking normally, though he's still fighting a wider grin. "She's glad to meet you, one way or another. She's wondering what interested you out here."
  12. Cobalt Templar gave Mercury a flat look. "Putting aside the fact that you were never in any true danger, if we flew to a fixed destination, I'd make it a fully enclosed construct. It was open so we could move faster and still keep our eyes open for trouble." He manages to keep most of the irritation out of his voice. When Wander posed her question, CT paced a bit, clearly trying to organize his thoughts. Finally, he stopped and turn to face the other two. "The Gang said they were here to shake down a guy who wouldn't pay "Mistah R". So. Why not go inside and ask about that? If there's one or more people here involved in...whatever...then it stands to reason they can help flesh our our knowledge some."
  13. "Claremont's got a lot of metahumans. You'll probably end up meeting a lot of..."power sets", for lack of a better term...for the first time. Just part of the experience, really." He shrugged. Personally, he was fine with telepaths. He blushed a bit as he thought about how nice having a telepath girlfriend could be. Hopefully Eve didn't catch much of that. 'Uh, sorry if you caught any of that. Ahem. Teenaged male.' He blinked as Citizen revealed the fact that he was a computer program. "That...well. That does explain a few things, yes. Huh. Crazy what you can find on the Internet these days. Like I said earlier, never met Miss Americana. Sounds like a nice lady though." He glanced at Eve as she spoke, nodding a couple of times. "Eve says that, yes, she's a telepath. And...nifty. Apparently Miss Americana hosted a fundraiser a while back, and helped bring in some decent cash. She's wondering if you're what would be classified as an Artificial Intelligence, then."
  14. The aristocrat-businessman-superhero looked around the lounge room for several moments, squinting just a bit behind the dark glasses. He tried to decide which of the men to approach first. Ramtein seemed engaged enough it would likely be a bad idea right this moment; if they dealt up a fresh hand, perhaps he'd try to get in. Then again, with no local money, that would be rather hard. Drumbrige was possible, but interrupting a man's reading time could result in quite a bit of ire. Still, he was one of the prime suspects in Magnus's mind. No, it seemed sitting down with the group listening to Willowbreak was the best bet. Thus, he casually walked over to that part of the lounge, found a seat, and quietly sat down to listen to the man's thrilling tales, all the while trying to keep an eye on things.
  15. 'Well, if you're not unhappy, let's hope that means the Headmaster isn't unhappy. Not like I had time to prep for the tour, really.' He sat back, ready to let Sage and Citizen talk for a bit...when he saw the confusion on Eve's face. It didn't take him long to figure out what might be going on, even as she mind-spoke to him again. 'No problem, Eve. It's not a big deal to me.' He turns and faces Citizen, a rueful grin on his face. "Eve apologizes, but she'll have to have me act as translator. She said she's having trouble telepathic messages. So, yeah. This will bit a bit mroe clunky, but I'm sure we'll be fine."
  16. "It was merely an expression, Mr. Protectron. I was attempting to be courteous, nothing more. And though you are obviously not biologically male, you do have a somewhat masculine sense to yourself. Consider my somewhat arbitrary gender label something of a human quirk." "Hm. Probably some of the general areas, such as materials sciences, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, computing, things such as that. Cybernetics. Transportation engineering. Possibly projects related to law enforcement. And probably other areas we haven't even conceived of yet!" He grinned at both of them. "That's what makes it exciting! And of course it's as respected rivals. If someone out-sells me, I clearly need to figure out what I'm doing wrong, and fix it. Not sabotage their work." Magnus misinterprets the silence, and sighs. "My apologies; here I was simply trying to meet and greet, and I keep going on with these speeches and debates! It's a consequence of being among my mental peers." He winked at both of them with that remark.
  17. Gabriel took a few deep breaths, regaining his composure. He then shook his head with a small smile at Jack's words. "Considering he works for The Lady of Beautiful Torment, no, I don't think it would have worked out." He frowned in thought, tapping his chin. "Yeah, if this gal's the same one as La Belle Dame Sans Merci, we're looking at serious trouble. The Belle Dame was famous for luring in knights with her beauty-" He gestured at the warehouse around them, clearly reminding them of the men lured in recently. "-Then cursing them. Typically by gluing them to one mound or another. While parts of the MO are different, other parts have some similarity. The real question is, was she biding time for a "real knight", or were these targets for some other purpose?"
  18. Gabriel immediately gave himself more altitude. "I was expecting someone else, really. We already have a few crazy weather-controlling types in this city. Now we're throwing in an electrical water-man? I think this guy needs to sleep the crazy off." Suddenly, his right arm lashed out, and a concentrated wave of sound blurred through the air, striking hard and fast against the watery foe of the two noble superheroes. "Let's take this punk down."
  19. Right then. Think I'll go with "move higher" and "blast harder". Attack Roll: 18 That doesn't hit. I think I'll go ahead and reroll. Technically not as good at 17, but with the HP reroll effect, a 27 hits. DC 27 Toughness Save.
  20. Fenris nodded as Jubatus opined about his suitability for speaking with some of these individuals. "Hopefully I won't stand out too much. Maybe I can say I had some trouble with flash powder recently, so my eyes are still healing. I should be able to distract them with aristocrat talk, with a dash of science." He frowned as the worried about the killer having heard the sound. "Bit late to worry if they heard us, isn't it? I mean, we should be vigilant, but there's nothing we can do to un-make the sound. We just need to press on. The three in the lounge can't just dash up and out without a bit of suspicion. It's the ones next car over that might be trouble. Or not. It's just too hard to say yet." He looked at the others for a moment, before he began moving for the door. "I'm heading up to the lounge, where hopefully I can get a bit of information." Unless stopped, he continues on his chosen path.
  21. Corbin happened to glance up as Sage was flying in, and barely restrained a low whistle. He was rather desperately in love with his girlfriend, but he couldn't deny how majestic the young psychic looked coming in like that. 'Doubt I could pull off that wing effect quite so well...Oh dear.' His eyes widened as she angled in for a landing right in front of him. He briefly glanced at Sharl, before returning her wave more smoothly. "Eve! Good to see you! Hope you had a nice flight. Um. This is...Citizen." He recalled the virtual non-answer he'd gotten when he asked the boy for his name: "I'm just, uh, a good citizen". Whatever worked for the other guy, he supposed. "Eve here is in the same year as me, though she's been at the school longer." While he spoke, CT glanced at Eve and purposefully thought in her direction. 'Eve? I'm giving him a tour on the headmaster's agreement, but there was the little thing of not revealing secret identities...Hopefully this won't be a big deal? Mind helping me give him the tour?' He hoped she wasn't too shocked, and could respond soon.
  22. Initiative Roll: 12
  23. Gabriel turned as Jack knocked out the last of the brainwashed crowd. He was unhappy that he'd had to resort to such measures, but they'd have nothing worse than a bit of ringing in their ears for a couple of hours, and headaches for a day or so. It irked him it had to happen at all. Gabriel turned...and witnessed a nightmare being given form. He gazed with raw disgust at the sickening black thing in front of them. Even as the others struck telling blows against the collected essence of corruption, death, and entropy, Gabriel slowly started to gather more and more sonic energy around his arms. He waited while Wander tore into its not-flesh. He waited while Harrier drover further into its being, and told them how best to strike it. He waited while Nick attempted to further wound it, only to be lashed back by the wave of sound-death. Now, he waited no longer. He took a single step forward, and raised first his left arm. When he spoke, his voice rung with unnatural clarity, purity, hope, and determination. " We cast you out unclean spirit! You satanic power, you onslaught of the infernal adversary, in the name and by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. We command you, begone and fly far from this place, from the souls made by God in His image ! No longer dare, cunning serpent, to deceive the human race, to strike God's elect and to sift them as wheat. For the Most High God commands you! God the Father commands you. The Son of God commands you! God the Holy Ghost commands you! Christ, the eternal Word of God made flesh, commands you! The sacred mystery of the cross commands you! The exalted Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, commands you, who in her lowliness crushed your proud head from the first moment of her Immaculate Conception! The faith of the holy apostles Peter and Paul and the other apostles commands you! The blood of martyrs and the devout prayers of all holy men and women command you!" As he spoke, a blast of sonic energy tore free from his upraised arm. It lashed against the beast, looking to strike deep into its flank and further damage it. But Gabriel wasn't done speaking or acting. " Therefore, accursed dragon and every diabolical legion, we adjure you by the living God, by the true God, by the holy God to cease deluding human creatures and filling them with the poison of everlasting damnation! Begone! Bow down before God's mighty hand, tremble and flee as we call on the holy and awesome name of Jesus, before whom the denizens of hell cower, to whom the heavenly Virtues and Powers and Dominations are subject, whom the Cherubim and Seraphim praise with unending cries as they sing: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Sabaoth. BEGONE!" With that, his right arm raised itself to point at the creature, and then loosed a second terrible blast, the ringing, thundering noises adding onto each other even as it screamed towards virtually the same spot on the creature's hide.
  24. Okay, so...Hm. I think Gabriel will switch to his regular Blast. Ranged Attack: 15. Not sure if this hits in its current condition. If it doesn't, HP reroll. 14 becomes 24 with the HP add-in. If 15 would hit, ignore the re-roll, and credit me that HP back, if you please. DC 27 Toughness Save. I'm going to use Extra Effort, and do another attack. Ranged Attack 17. I'm thinking with it not stunned, and with no bluffs or anything from me, that doesn't hit. So, HP reroll. 21, plus the 10 from the HP, means a 31 should hit. So, up to 2 HP burned right now, with a third next round. Still. That'll be another DC 27 Toughness Save.
