Well, there's not a single "Knowledge: Science" skill. But! I do have both Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. I shall make checks for both! Life Sciences: 23 Physical Sciences: 20

Gabriel waited for a few long moments, before the tension in his figure relaxed. Marginally. He was clearly still agitated, but he had asserted more control over his agitation. He spent several moments studying his surroundings, before wandering over to the mural, studying it with a detached interest. "Why the painting? Doesn't seem like the she-fairy stayed here; I'd guess she can travel back and forth pretty easily. Surely she wouldn't get homesick, would she? Or was it more for the...what? "Creative energy" that guy gave off while he helped paint this?" He turned and faced the others, confusion evident on his face. "Which begs another question: Why target those guys in particular? It doesn't sound like they make a living in art; wouldn't she get more "juice" from a guy who sells paintings to museums, than from a guy who does the books for a business? Not that I'm knocking accounting, but you don't really associate it with "art" that often. If ever."

Gabriel gets a hearty 28.

"I'm pretty sure we've made it a very known quantity. Like I said: we've run thousands of tests. Not computer models, actual tests. With physical devices. I've had three dozen of the top European minds on the subject go over my math and my designs. Don't misunderstand me; "caution" was the name of the game every step of the way." He shrugged. "But right now, the only thing holding back the next stages is finalizing some design elements, and finding ways to produce things more rapidly and efficiently. That all said, I'd be willing for you to look over the math at your leisure. Prototypes...Hm." He seemed to consider this matter for over a minute. "Only if and when I am directly, physically present to make sure nothing untoward happens. These designs are patented for a reason, after all. I'll have my lawyer and assistant arrange something, if you'd like."
-
Gabriel's frown steadily deepened into a scowl as the discussion proceeded to the topic of just what this fae might be doing to this man, or these men. "Seducing men just to get a power kick, huh? We'll see how long that lasts..." There's an odd tone in his voice that only Nick may have heard before; specifically, when they were hunting a demon summoner in a small town outside of Freedom City. Clearly he was upset at what was going on. "I think we need to make it clear the people of this city aren't "prey" for the likes of them." He stalked after the others, his coat flapping in the breeze. Or against the breeze, on a few occasions; he was clearly agitated enough that subtle sonic waves were moving the coat around on its own. When they reached the locked door, he'd been ready to turn the lock and chain into so much metal mush before Jack just sliced it apart. Just after Grim turned invisible and slunk off to one side, Gabriel strode directly into the warehouse, clearly having no intention of using anything that remotely resembled stealth. When he spoke, his voice rang out clear and true, like a shining bell. "Come out and face us! I know you're here, you cowardly parasite! Come face justice here and now!"
-
Gabriel shook his head as the man talked of needing excitement in his life. "There are other ways to get excitement in your life. Next time, look into paintball or something." He regarded Grimalkin with a raised eyebrow. "I suppose "overkill" covers it pretty well. The important thing is we found out information." He frowned deeply as he spoke his next words. "Yes, I'd very much like to speak with this mysterious Fae woman about why she's leaving innocent men so bamboozled they'll dance in traffic to impress her. "Low" doesn't quite cover it."

Murder on the Victorian Express (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Supercape's topic in The Realms Beyond
It had taken a bit of time, but Fenris had found some clothing that would do for now. It helped that his armor's under-suit was made of morphic molecules; it rolled right up to the point you'd have get through everything else before you found it again. He was wearing some black trousers that weren't quite casual but weren't quite fancy, going well with the rugged (but still stylish) boots he'd found. A white button-up shirt covered by a black vest that he kept open, a floppy cap that covered his hair, and a scarf wrapped loosely around his lower face continued the trend. Finally, a simple pair of dark goggles worn over his eyes completed the set. "These things are pretty nice...I can't even tell I'm wearing them!" He then stepped into the doorway of the cabin, right as Jubatus finished his rounds over the body. The disguised man cast his gaze here and there, but just didn't notice anything particularly useful. Instead, he moved himself to one corner, hoping to at least be useful once details had been found. -
Once dressed, Fenris will go into the car as well. I'll do a Notice check, but... Yeah, a 13. I got nothing. Well, that's not true; I have a lot of skills. But most are knowledge skills, or tech-related in some other way.

Corbin gave a loud belly laugh. "Really? You must be from way out of town. Even my girlfriend doesn't comment so much on the sky. Not that that's bad, mind. I suppose it's just something we take for granted. I mean, I've done a few pieces that use mostly sky, but I've never managed a good one that was nothing but sky and clouds, you know?" Here he shrugged. "Anyways. Plenty to enjoy, that's for sure. Especially since, even with all our heroes, there aren't that many objects in the sky on average. Not at the altitude we use."
-
Corbin managed to keep from making any obvious sound that betrayed how nervous he was. "I was driving back to my home not too far from this location, when I was clipped by a black car. The body damage wasn't extensive, and I all but stumbled over Lazarus Auto Repair. I pulled up and entered the shop with no signs of anything odd. However, I then saw this gentleman on the floor, blood on the ground under him, a hole in his shoulder. At that time, I also noticed the various criminals outside, all of whom seemed to have hostile intent. I was instructed on the procedure to activate the security systems, and I did so as quickly as possible. They were activated, and...that's pretty much everything. I'd say it's been 10 or so minutes since I first pulled up here."

Fenris suddenly appeared on the roof of the car...right as Victory was making his winning field goal kick. He looked around for a moment, then hopped down off the car to stand near Victory. "Looks like you have everything, ah, well in hand here." He glanced over at where Ironclad had a tight grasp of the bad doctor. "You can probably ease up just a tiny bit. We don't want him hurt too much. I think." In truth, he thought the little man an odious member of humanity, but still thought they should avoid anything that might be truly excessive force, at least since he was basically unarmed. He settled for crossing his arms and keeping an eye on the overall situation.
-
Magnus frowned slightly. "There are still problems. Cloudy days and long nights can have an impact on energy flow for a location. To say nothing of the hoops you'd have to jump through for areas near the Arctic circle, where night can last for months. Even worse, solar cells can't armor themselves in thick cement against the elements, leaving them inherently more vulnerable to inclement weather patterns. Connected to that, you've got issues with placement, transmission, and storage. It's easy to put a few solar panels on a home's roof. But you need more and more area for things like skyscrapers. Then of course you have to move the power, and current conductor materials means you lose power along the way. And current battery technology is not up to the task, besides the fact that we still rely heavily on chemical batteries. While yes, in theory, covering half the moon in solar cells would give us enough power, there are two major problems I see. First is the potential dangers of beaming that much power across open space. What affect would it have on the ozone, on wildlife, and so on? And secondly, how will you get it built up there? That's a lot of resources just to build it. Also, what dangers associated or predicted with vacuum energy? We've run thousands of "worse-case scenario" tests on all our exisiting generator models. The absolute worst physical damage that occurs on the largest models is that the central chamber, the "heart" if you will, crumples a bit, due to the vacuum nature. We've shot them with all manner of weapons, hit them with things, bombarded them with energies, shaken them, crushed them. They never exploded. No harmful radiation was found. And we invented a few new types of scanners, discovered a couple of new radiation wavelengths, just to confirm the risk is less than that of the Large Hadron Collider." He smiled. "And our models will be ready in less than 5 years, for practically all applications."
-
"Fair enough. You're right to give things a priority order. I'll put it on the back burner for now. We...don't really have anything immediately useful for the transfer. I'll give you the contact information for my computer science division, just in case. And I'll send those specs over soon, too." Magnus also went and gathered his things, having fully composed himself from his earlier moments of vulnerability. He took a moment to close his eyes, breath deep, and compose himself further. "Your best is all you can do, in the end. You're trying, that's the important thing." He started walking towards the door, before he stopped mid-stride and turned to face her again. "Thank you."
-
"I understand, sir. I'll keep you posted." Cobalt Templar ended the call and returned his phone to its previous resting place. He flew back over to Sharl, a grin on his face. "Good news! The tour is a go. I'll lead the way and show you around. Just understand that, unless you join the school, there are some things we can't tell you." With that, he took off at a fairly slow flying speed, making sure Citizen could keep pace with him all the way back to Claremont.

Magnus gave a shaky smile and a nod. "Fair enough. I just wanted to make it clear I pay my debts. And I'll keep you up to date on her condition and so forth, as well as getting as many things arranged now as I can. Once you have your team, let me know, and I'll get things moving further." He paused, a pensive look on his face. The determination set in, and he spoke. "I would like to request that I be able to be at least somewhat involved in the...construction. If nothing else, I think I can help provide an excellent long-life power source with near-zero risk."
-
Gabriel closed his eyes for several long moments with a sigh. He took a few moments to collect his thoughts, before stepping forward and speaking up. "While that gets us some information, Grimalkin, perhaps a more calming touch will help?" Gabriel turned to the man, a slight smile on his face, his whole manner screaming "relaxed, easygoing, and friendly". The fact that he was sending waves of calming sonic energy towards the man ought to help matters. "Listen friend. You ought to take it easy for a few minutes. I know you're all hopped up on warm fuzzy feelings, but you look a bit pale there, buddy. We're getting some doctors out here to check you out, just in case. We'll let you out of those arms when they get here. But while we're waiting, you mind chatting a bit?" He smiled a bit brighter at the man wrapped in ectoplasm. "You get anything particularly interesting at the warehouse? Or were you guys just doing it for kicks? She say why she had to step away while you went bank climbing? I mean, I get trying to impress a lady, extreme as your idea may be. But she's nowhere around here, is she? Did she have an appointment or something?"
-
Gabriel breathed a sigh of relief as the creature vanished. He gave a grateful nod to Harrier and the others. He frowned when Nick spoke up. "Are we talking about a general "taint", or do we have some sort of secondary creature going on here? How do we get rid of-" And then Harrier weighed in on what to do. Gabriel blanched, but didn't speak up immediately. "Are you sure there's not another way? I can understand the need to cleanse the taint, but...superheroes or no, telling everyone out there that this place has to burn to ash won't go over well. I suppose I can try to soothe frayed nerves, but still. Not exactly an easy sell." At Wander's words, Gabriel gave a nod. "One way or another, that's a good point. What if the projectionist wasn't the only one stuck in here? And what if there's smaller goons?"
-
"Yeah. That kind of damage is five kinds of pain to repair." If anything, Cobalt Templar seemed more annoyed by the damage to the miniature classic. It soon passed, though. Especially when Wander handed out her praise. He straightened his shoulders a bit and gave a grin to his companions. "Yeah, went pretty well. Mercury, thanks for following my lead. You were pretty quick on the attack, too." He turned to regard the Toon Gang. "Wonder if Blackstone has mini-size cells?" CT's eyes narrowed at the "Mistah R" comment. He took a couple steps towards Lucky and leaned over to eye level, the ethereal BAR casually set on his shoulder. "He'd what, little man? Mess us up? Not like you lot did anything close to that. Who's "Mistah R", anyways?"

"You helped on that? Thanks." His gratitude was genuine. "That was...that was some nasty business. I remember being on a date with my girlfriend, when we both got hit with those starfish things. It was..." He shudders, deep-set horror and revulsion clear in his person. "Let's just say I'm glad we went unconscious." At Citizen's request, he smiles. "I think we can manage that. I'll have to give them a call, but I don't see why not. Give me a minute." With that, Cobalt Templar flew a few feet away, a phone floating from an unseen pocket in his armor into his hand. He quickly dialed a particular number at the school, hoping he'd get a staff member...

"I have a couple, actually." Gabriel had clearly caught his breath, and now started to pace back and forth, a frown on his face, hands clasped behind his back. "First, the facts as far as we can tell. We have several men who speak of "loving" a women named July, Summer, and so on. Second, they appear to be stripped of their proper faculties, putting themselves in large amounts of danger. Third, they appear anemic...or perhaps just low on blood. One possibility is vampires. That fits with the blood and the loopiness, at least. Another might be succubi. I've seen a couple work their wiles on mortals, so it's possible. Strong possibility of leanansidhe, especially with the names they're crying out. Though why they'd take blood..." He shrugs. "And I guess there's the Japanese yuki-onna, but...no one here has even a bit of frostbite. Unlikely." He suddenly realized he'd given a mini-lecture on the subject, and gave an embarrassed cough. "I, uh, kinda did some studying more recently. Kept fighting demons and the like, figured "knowing my enemy" a bit better might come in handy."

Gabriel's gonna make an Arcane Lore check, because he suspects things are afoot! And with a 28, he might have an idea.
