I'm a bit cautious about what you mean when you say "I would like to keep the stats of the enemies secret". If by this you mean you're not going to tell us what all their skill bonuses, powers, stats, etc is, that's one thing. I'm hoping it doesn't mean you won't at least let us know what we need to roll to hit them, perceive them, hurt them, etc. Because that's not quite as fun. That all being said, I'd like to get Fenris involved. While he's not a detective, if nothing else his scientific knowledge could prove useful.

Fenris uttered a Russian curse as he saw the situation get worse. Light flashed as he dashed through the space between space and reappeared next to the gun, scooping it up and quickly aiming at the gargoyle. "Hope you like it hot." With that, and a moment of controlled breath, he pulled the trigger, hoping to strike true on this impromptu shot. After releasing the trigger, he called over his shoulder without looking. "What's your status?"
-
Teleport to gun, grab gun, shoot at Gargoyle. I hope 18 hits. I mean, he's only getting +6 on this attack! :?

"I don't think I'm going out of town, actually. Considering what happened last time I went on a long trip, my folks and I all decided I should generally stick to the States for a while." He gestured with his ring-bearing hand, emphasizing the point. He smirked as a thought crossed his mind. "Honestly, with my luck, I'd end up going to Britain and come back with Excalibur's scabbard or something." He shrugged and took a few more thoughtful bites. He raised an eyebrow at her statement about not needing to impress her. "This isn't really about showing off. I mean, yeah, a bit of it is me wanting to treat you to something special, that I had a hand in. But more of it is that I just like the idea of an outdoors picnic with the girl I care about. I'm with you; all our dates, all the various dinners and movies and shows and walks and talks are all well and good, but you yourself, that's why I'm doing those things. Because it's time with you." He reached over and ran a finger gently down the side of her face, withdrawing that hand to grab a water bottle and take a swig of it. He was definitely in a different mood than normal, though now he seemed to be watching her carefully for a reaction.

Magnus looked off in the distance, rocking back and forth on his heels a bit in thought. "An android of unknown origins, you says? Interesting. He sounds like an interesting being to speak with." He looked at Supercape with a slight smile, gesturing for the other man to lead the way. "We'll change our plans a bit, and see him first, then this Dragonfly lady."

Corbin chuckled and handed her the turkey sandwich. He unwrapped the ham one for himself. "All the hog farms I've seen seemed ethical enough. Dirty, but pigs seem to like that. Plus, I do rather like the taste of bacon." A bag of ranch Doritoes was to be shared between them, and then Corbin pulled out the drinks. For himself, a couple of bottles of water. For Quo-Dis, a bottle each of orange and grape flavored Mexican soda. The genuine stuff that took some work to find. "Did you ever really doubt me, beautiful? I don't like to flaunt it, but I am somewhat well off. Wasn't too hard to make some calls. Dare I say I can get more where that came from?" He put his arm around her as well, giving her a gentle squeeze before turning more of his attention to the sandwich. When he did speak, he made sure his mouth wasn't full. "How was your day outside of Archer getting his licks in?"
-
Carson blinked as they rushed through the green tunnel for a moment, before shaking his head and smiling a bit. "Definitely catching the pine. Bit of peppermint in the background." He dashes over to set the muffins he brought on his counter, walking back over. After a moment's thought, he gave her a quick side-by-side hug. "You don't need to overwork yourself, either. Don't worry about those supplies. You'll get them; only think you'll need to do is transport them to the refugees. Take care, Stesha."
-
"Hm. Didn't bring a towel, but..." Suddenly, weak blue flame rolls over Quo-Dis. Before she can even start to panic, she'll realize it's not even singing her clothes; instead, it feels like a warm breeze blowing over her body, quickly and gently drying the sweat away. Corbin didn't mind the view of his beautiful girlfriend wrapped in ethereal blue flames, either. He smiled wide once the flame was done, stepping over and taking up her hand, bowing a bit, and kissing it. "My Lady graces me with her presence. My heart aches that Archer kept you longer than normal. But no matter." He straightened, gesturing at the blanket. "Nothing fancy, but this isn't a big formal date or anything. I more wanted to talk." He went about unpacking his food, his chipper mood clearly showing through. The confusion and distance from the last month or so was gone, replaced by an energy and confidence that hadn't surfaced for a while. "Do you prefer ham, or turkey?"
-
"It's the right thing to do. What more needs to be said? Anyways, keep your ear open for my call in a couple hours. And thank you for the hospitality. Though, as for the bees...I might swing by once. Maybe." He shudders slightly again, then braces himself for the trip. "Okay, I'm ready for the jump. Maybe this time I won't taste lemon." He gives Stesha a teasing wink at that comment.

Fenris shook Victory's hand in greeting, nodding to each of his fellow heroes in turn. "Again, it's a pleasure to meet all of you." He turned to Cannonade, the slight smile evident in his voice. "Well, here's hoping your outfit survives today intact." He crossed his arms as the nature of the test was further explained. 'Yeah, there's no way this could go wrong, no sir.' Still, he was here to help. He stood by, waiting to assist either the technicians, or Cannonade on the field, as well as keeping his eyes open for unexpected occurrences. Like Blueshift showing up out of nowhere, bragging about tearing down the AEGIS Firewalls, and handing out advice like she owned the place. He frowned in his armor, his head shifting to look at the spot she wiped, then back at her. "I was helping set up equipment. And my alloys can withstand well more dirt than this, though thank you for your concern. "We" are watching at the moment. Cannonade's helping with a test, the rest of us are here to help the techs, or perhaps take part later."
-
Fenris's armor shrugged off the blast as the wolf-man turned to face the Mystic. "I find you name to be dull and unimaginative, and your "magic" to be sub-par." He actually made air-quotes, even as the lights on his armor shifted, indicating that he was about to- "See, I can shoot energy bolts, too!" A blast of supercharged plasma lashed out at the so-called mage. "Adjust your aim a few degrees down. Pull the trigger after exhaling." His advice was friendly, rather than condescending.
-
Save first. 24! Just enough! Switching to Blast, firing at the Mystic. 12! Damn it! Reroll. :x 16, but with the Hero Point that's 26. DC 23 Toughness.

Claremont Academy March 5, 2011 Corbin Alphonse Hughes stood on a slight rise in the ground (he couldn't conscience calling it an actual “hillâ€) near the back of the Claremont property. Mostly hidden from view by trees, it was past even the pool and sports field, though one could still see some of the school buildings. Still and all, it was as close to privacy as he could get without going off school grounds. He wanted this to be a low-key affair, and having to notify people they were headed off-campus flew in the face of that. So he sat, and he waited for the girl that had come to mean so much to him in so little time. 'Man. Maybe six months since I first asked her out? And yet here I am...speaking of that, where is she?' He cast his gaze about, trying to see if he could spot Quo-Dis, the object of his fancy and thoughts. The blankets were spread, and the basket was set out. He checked his watch again; it was almost on the dot for when he told her to be here. “Come on, Corbin. Woman's prerogative to be a bit late. She's still got a couple minutes to be on time; you're just a freak about being early.â€
-
Caron frowned a bit at that. "That's not totally fair. I mean, yes, I can understand why many people wouldn't be instantly buddy-buddy with you. Victim of the Terminus or no, you would still remind them. Still and all, it's just another version of prejudice. They see your armor, or hear where you're from, and suddenly they think they know what you're going to do. Even if all your actions prove otherwise." He brightened a bit as Murdock mentioned work. "Well, do you like working there, at least a bit? I mean, it's not for everyone, but it seems like a...colorful...place, at least. As for having opinions, well..." Carson shrugs. "I hardly think it would be fair for me to have dumped all of those opinions of mine on you, without giving you the chance to ask questions and offer your own thoughts on something. If you're worried about saying something majorly upsetting, you could always start with more "minor" things. Help you get a better feel for that sort of thing."
-
Carson stood, grabbing a couple more of the muffins. "Thanks. I'm still a bit hungry. And I will get some sleep. I doubt anything else we need will be ready right away. There's enough people that it's going to take time, though thankfully, not much." He took a few steps away from the furniture, then patiently waited. A smirk crossed his face. "You know, if and when I do get a girl, and I eventually tell her about my "night work", I ought to bring her here, if it's spring or summer." He suddenly grimaced and gave an exaggerated shudder. "Just not near the giant bees."
-
Carson chuckled. "Well, I suppose I've never been called ugly, or had someone say my voice sounded bad." A thoughtful expression crossed his face. "So...the holidays actually bring in more villain activity? I mean, I can understand the bit with the weather, and especially the longer nights. But...hm. I'd have thought at least some of them would want the vacation..." He shrugs. "Still a bit new to hero work, I suppose." He gave her a sad smile as he shifted subjects. "Well. I suppose in retrospect, there were other signs she wasn't "the right one". Just, well, harder to see in the moment, you know? But you're right. I'll feel obligated to bring it up before popping the question, really. Wouldn't be right. But maybe a bit of mystery is good at first." He finished off his cup of coffee, and realized all his previous nerves were gone. "Wow. I...I actually feel a lot better. Thank you. You ever considered going into counseling? Just bring them here, and they can't even run out on your sessions!"

Sure! Just need Supercape to move things along...

Fenris turned to regard the young woman who'd just landed in her power armor. He offered her one large metallic hand to shake. "Nice to meet you, Ironclad. You can call me Fenris. And thank you. It took me a bit of time and effort to get it set up, but it's probably my crowning achievement." He seems happy someone appreciates his work without glancing nervously at the fake teeth on his helmet. It's not like his mouth even opened! ...Yet. He turned to face the other newcomer, again offering his hand for a shake. "I'm fairly new in town. Name's Fenris. I'm mostly helping run the field tests, though I guess I'm on a sort of "emergency standby". I probably could let them shoot at me, but I'd prefer to avoid it. They might have me help with testing the armor's strength, though." He flexed his left hand, popping out a set of claws that glowed bright blue for a moment before they darkened, quickly retracting. "You volunteered to get shot at, then? I'm guessing you're a bit tougher than first glances might suggest." He clearly meant no insult; after all, to someone who didn't know him, Cannonade didn't immediately look like the type to bounce cannon shells off his chest.
-
"Real honorable, all ganging up on-" Corbin stops his rant, clearly thinking about something. "I guess I deserved it after that stunt a moment ago." Suddenly, he jumps upright, throwing a nicely packed snowball directly at Glowstar's face. "Does this make me a true warrior?"
-
Blast it all! All-Out Attack (+2 Att / -2 Def) against Glowstar (most recent one to hit Corbin). His defense is +3 now, but hey, who cares! Not like he's going to avoid getting hit anyways. Eat cold snowy revenge! 26!
-
I will be gone all day tomorrow; first church, then a potluck afterward, and after that, I'm going directly over to my friends' apartment for the afternoon/evening gaming session. Back late evening, possibly able to post a bit then.

Cannonade shouldn't have much trouble spotting one of the observers; he was six and a half feet tall, and looked like a robotic wolf. Though the fact that his "mouth" did not move when he spoke suggested something other than just a robot. That he was speaking with several of the scientists observing the test, and was, in fact, deeply involved in the discussion, indicated he wasn't here as a guard or security. At least, not exclusively so. Meanwhile, Fenris was debating a few minor technical points with some of the AEGIS staff while also thinking over how he got here. 'Blueshift didn't seem like the sort for networking, but I've been wrong before. And really, a couple good words from the local police, and a polite, straightforward request, and I'm in? Then again, they've said a few other heroes are showing up. And there's a lot of security. So they're still properly paranoid. Now, why won't these guys spill on the details of what they're rolling out today? It's not like I won't see what's getting presented anyways.' The armored man shifted his stance a bit, crossing his arms across his chest, and tilting his wolf-like head to one side. "Just what about this tank makes it so special? I mean, yeah, research marches on, but there's a lot of hype going around, and you guys won't even tell me what paint scheme it has!" There's no anger in his oddly guttural voice. Just curiosity, from one technical mind to another.
-
TT, if what I write up for IC reasoning (which amounts to "networking, and calling up AEGIS to ask to help/observe" is totally off-base, I'll be fine with changing it up. But I figure I need some reason for Fenris being there.

Fenris studied the mage as he faded from full corporeality. Then, he suddenly turned towards the second gargoyle. There was a flash of light, the sound of air rushing about... And suddenly, he was next to the gargoyle, his right arm swinging down in a vicious blow intended to incapacitate the beast. "We take this one out, we can concentrate on Mr. Wizard over there." His voice was methodical, almost cold. "Just don't make too big of a blast; I don't want to hurt bystanders."
