Too Many Questions, Too Few Answers...(IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Quinn's topic in The Waterfront
Cobalt Templar took a moment to glance around. Seeing that all other enemies had been felled,he felt it would be alright if he moved from his post next to the unconscious Dragonfly. That he moved at high speed directly at the head cultist, well...That was more than coincidence. "I say thee nay! You shall not finish this ritual!" And as his arms swung downwards, a huge sword of blue flame manifested in his previous empty hands. He struck out with a punishing blow, before winding back and giving the foul man another attack, hoping to drop him here and now. "Fall! Fall, blast you!" -
Right then. Burning 1 HP to shake off Fatigue from Surge. So he's tip-top shape. Charging the Head Cultist. Using All Out Attack. That boosts my Attack by +4, to a total of +11. I use power attack, which drops my Attack to +9, but brings my damage to +9 Using Strike rather than Blast. Melee Attack Roll: 18+9=27. Booyah. 8-) Toughness Save DC is 24. You know what, what the heck. I still have 2 HP, so...Surging for another Standard, using it for a melee attack. All Out Attack, Power Attack. Attack is at +7, Damage DC at +9 Epic Fail Using that 3rd HP for re-roll. Attack Roll: 15+7=22. Much better. Toughness Save DC is 24. All told, his Defense will be down by -4 until next round.

For just a moment, Gabriel imagined a warm bed, and just slipping under the covers to sleep for a week. However, a blink of the eyes, and he was back in the present, with danger looming all around them. He gave his head a shake, trying to clear the final cobwebs. When he spoke, his voice was at a much lower volume. "Will do, Fleur. We'll watch your back, then move in together. We just have to hope Midnight can make it until we meet up with him." With that, the hero in white took up a defensive position near Fleur's new location, facing one direction while clearly expecting Fusion to face the other. His hands flexed, as if wanting to do something, but he kept a tight lid on his powers, to prevent any potential detection.

Gabriel let himself float a bit further away from the hand-to-hand furball that was developing. He smirked a bit as he saw T3's futile gestures to his subordinates. Not everything was good about turning normal sound off, hm? With that, he let loose a burst of sonic energy, aiming for center mass on WU. 'If I take Mr. Confused About Color down here, I can either face off with the Man in Gold, or maybe help that other fellow take down Angry Yellow Fellow.'
-
Hokay, so. Gabriel will move a bit away from the two big guys duking it out, but still keep his distance from WU and T3. Blast against WU. Attack Roll: 12+10=22 Toughness DC is 26.

Gabriel frowned at the clearly empty room. "There's nothing in-" And then a demon lady slammed him against the wall and assaulted his mouth. "Ugh! Off, foul demon! In the name of the Lord!" His eyes widened slightly in panic at her mention of "birthing it again". He rubbed his wrists after the creature disappeared. He closed his eyes for a moment, and laid a hand over the crucifix under his shirt. His mouth moved in silent prayer for perhaps 30 seconds, before his eyes opened once more. "In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen." With that, Gabriel strode out the door, slamming it against the wall as he stalked back towards Muse. His coat trailed behind him like the wings of an angry archangel... When he caught sight of Muse, he immediately spoke to her with his unique ventriloquism. "The nurse was a demon. She stated we're being watched, and said something about how they've hidden the child, and we won't find it before it's "birthed again". And I don't think they mean in the purely spiritual sense." His face, once Muse caught sight of it, was contorted in barely-controlled anger. Clearly, he was far from happy with many things.
-
Gabriel frowned as his blast did nothing. 'Even tougher than I thought he'd-' Then the blast flew by his head, and his gaze turned to WU. 'I'd almost forgotten about him for a moment...' After a short pause, he turned his attention to WU, his body wreathed in silent energies that caused his coat to flutter in the air; his fists, clenched at his sides, wavered through the lenses of focused sonic energies.

DC20? Will Save: 13+7=20 Just barely!
-
Right, Grapple Check first. Grapple: 9+11=20 So...Will Save, DC20. Will: 10+7=17 Okay, yeah, Hero Point. Will: 14+7=21; Plus 10 from HP means 31.
-
Gabriel glanced towards Muse for a moment, then back to the nurse. He gave her a nod, and another smile. When he spoke, he made sure his voice wouldn't reach. "I got in here because I'm a resourceful hero. And I promise, no discord." He held one hand up as if swearing to tell the truth in court. "Yes, please let me take a look. I need to see what I can figure out. Time is of the essence." His face slips into a more serious expression, and he will quickly follow the nurse; hopefully, he can find some manner of clue once he arrives.

Corbin turned almost solid red at Quo-Dis's statements. "What? Wait, no. I mean...wow. Um, no what I'm asking is something that's discussed in polite company. That...um. Wow. Okay, can I have a moment?" He closes his eyes and takes several deep, calming breaths, his color slowly returning to normal. "Okay. Quo-Dis, what I would like to ask you is: Would you give me the honor of taking you on a date sometime in the near future? I'm thinking just...Hm. Maybe we could see a movie, acquire some dinner, and talk for a little while? You are not at all obligated to say yes. But...I'd really like it if you did. I realize we don't know each other that well, but I'd like to have a chance to become better acquainted. And if you need time to consider it, that's fine too. Just...please at least consider it?" He holds up his right hand in a solemn pose. "I swear, by my family's name, by the ring on this hand, that I was not sent by Daisy Gibbons, directly or indirectly. If I have given you offense, it was not my intention." He lowered his hand. "So, uh...the Founding Fathers?" He gave an awkward chuckle. 'I hope I didn't ruin my chances just now...Also, note to self: Daisy Gibbons must pay. Somehow.'
-
"Suffice to say, I'm here now thanks to my excellent negotiation skills. Let's hope those carry the same weight now." Quick strides brought him over to some nearby nurses. He turned his smile up to "full wattage". "Hello ladies. Could I perhaps ask a few quick questions? My name is Gabriel, and I'm here to help find this missing child."

Diplomacy with Attractive on nurses: 35

November 15, 2010 I sit here in my home, having only been back to full capacity for 4 days. I can still hardly believe how close I came to going home to the Lord at the end of October. I keep having nightmares of those "super-ghouls"; except in the nightmares, I don't manage to take them down in time. It's...disturbing, to say the least. I still think it's a miracle no one was severely hurt; I learned later that there were some cuts, some bruises, and a couple sprains. Nothing from the undead hordes directly. No, I was the only one hurt. They nearly cut me open, and I shudder to think what would have happened if some of those spells from either necromancer may have hit. I still praise the Lord I managed to take them all down. IN retrospect, what pride I allow myself pities the fact that there was no camera present. I'm sure it would have been an incredible sight. No, now I am left with only my jumbled memory of pain, blood, sweat, and raw terror, and a set of scars across my torso that seem to ache when it's cold and wet. Stesha's good, but she's not perfect, and who knows what was on the claws of those beasts. I'll have these scars for the rest of my life... I need to work harder, train harder. I've become complacent. I need to find ways to improve, become more flexible, or I might end up dying before my time out there...

"There are pre-agreed limits, but it's no one thing. Someone could take one of us on a date, though they're not to expect it to necessarily go beyond that. Someone could ask for us to appear for a birthday party, or a social function, or something similar. If we truly find their request objectionable, they will receive a refund, minus 10%, and the runner-up will pay in full and get their request fulfilled. Everyone who bids had to put in a flat fee that wasn't too large, but otherwise they don't pay anything unless they win the auction." He glanced up as the MC subtly gestured for them to return to the stage. "I think that's our queue." He stood, draining the rest of the bottle before striding back on stage with a smile and a wave.

Gabriel frowned as his impromptu fighting partner seemed to do little against the massive yellow brute. 'I think I can pull off that trick I used on the robot a couple days ago. Even better, I don't have to touch him...' Almost absent-mindedly, he floated a few feet to one side, before he raised one hand, a look of intense concentration on his face... Before a beam of hyper-concentrated sound lanced outwards from his hand, striking the yellow one's skin, and sending ripples along it, hopefully interfering with whatever made him so tough, and giving the other hero an opening to knock him out of the fight.

Right then. I've got 2 HP, might as well use one. Spending an HP to stunt a power off of Sonic Control. In this case, I'm stunting Drain Toughness, 11 ranks, with the Ranged extra. That's 22pp total, which fits fine in my array. Move action: Float to the side via Flight 1 so I have a clear shot at the Big Ugly Yellow Guy. Standard Action: Making an attack with my Ranged Toughness Drain. Attack Roll: 7+10=17 Me no like, since that doesn't hit. I'm using my other HP to reroll! Attack Roll: 14+10+10=34 (with HP effect added in) Right, that'll be a DC 21 Fort Save against Toughness Drain up to 11.

Gabriel murmured back even as he waved to the crowd. "Ma'am, I daresay you showed me up when it came to visual showmanship. Nonetheless, it was a pleasure flying with you." He simply nodded as Miss A announced the break, walking over to the edge of the stage where there were bottles of water, snacks, and the like. He grabbed a small granola bar, almost inhaling it, before downing half a bottle of water. He gestured to the snack table. "Do you want anything? Flying like that always gives me the munchies. We need to be fresh for the Hero Auction, you know." His eyes danced with amusement even as he spoke.
-
Gabriel had started to feel a bit of panic when it sunk in how he was outnumbered, and man wasn't that yellow guy big, when... 'Huh. Well, looks like he's gonna take care of the big one. Leaves Mr. Undecided for me, I suppose' He turned his attention back to WU just as the villain charged and fired his attack...which went so wide Gabriel didn't even have to lean away from it. Instead, he turned his head to watch it hit the float, before returning his gaze to the villain in front of him. Vibration rolled silently over his body, and he smirked as he gave WU a shake of the head and the wag of a finger.
-
Gabriel frowned, and shook his head. "We can't be sure how connected it is. That's not my child that disappeared, and neither is it yours. We need to try to pick up its trail, and soon. Should we just search, or should we try asking questions of those who observed the creature?" He would, for the moment, defer to Muse's lead, as she seemed to have a better handle on things overall. Still, her focus on the lingering threat from the demon a couple months back didn't really help them here and now.
-
Gabriel shot off with just enough speed to generate a small sonic boom. For a moment, it seemed he was heading away from the festival...before he circled back, smoothly beginning a slower turn over the audience. A turn that just happened to be traced eloquently by a sudden trail of bright red, white, and blue smoke, issuing from a simple harness worn around his waist! Gabriel began to twist, even as he made a complete circle. The smoke stopped for several moments, as Gabriel tightened his turn, briefly turning the smoke back on to generate an arch inside the circle. He stopped the smoke again, and dove down low to the crowd, slowing enough to give a few people high fives, before shooting upwards, releasing a precisely-timed puff of smoke, even as he shot high up into the air, until he was at the very highest camera...where he turned and dove at high speed back towards the ground! The crowd gasped as he drew closer. Just as they really started to worry, he passed through his smoke drawing, and released his final puff of smoke, revealing what everyone now saw was a red, white, and blue smiley face! Even as they "oohed" and "aahed", Gabriel came in for a smart landing on the stage, taking a single bow before grabbing Miss Americana's hand for a joint bow. As they made the bow, the sound of a large bell striking a deep note sounded!

Initiative! Init: 7+2=9 ...Bother.

Another Notice! This time, Gabe's just trying to see if anything looks weird. Notice Check: 7+10=17 Probably not. :?
-
Gabriel nodded in return, walking over to Muse. He kept his voice low as well. "Not a whole lot more. But a nurse said she heard a rumor...that a monster had grabbed a newborn baby. I cam here to see what I could find out, and to try to start hunting it down. I know you've got a knack for this as well. Anything you've picked up yet?" He kept his gaze roaming around the room; there was no telling what might be going on...
-
Gabriel smiled, and patted the officer on the shoulder. "No harm done, sir. You're just doing your job. I'll go do mine now. Thank you for your help." With that, the white-clad man quickly slipped into the stairs, stopping a moment to recall his directions, before taking the stairs towards the level of the Maternity Ward. He had a baby-stealer to catch.
