Gabriel shrugged. "I'll call her and arrange it. Wouldn't feel right otherwise. At any rate, I tend to patrol for a few hours, working around my, ah, "day job", as it were. I started a bit earlier today, what with joining Victory here, so I'll probably end earlier. It depends, though. If I have a really tough fight, I typically go home and rest and eat a bit, assuming I'm not unconscious or something. Just flying around and such doesn't drain me much, but heavy combat really takes its toll. My food bill could feed two normal people, I'd wager. It's a miracle I don't eat more, really, what with being a walking, talking sound generator. I figure it's just part of the package, though."

Corbin frowned, as the robot dissolved...only for a blue fedora to materialize on his head, and a coiled whip to come to life at his belt. He looped his thumbs in his belt, suddenly talking with a bit of a drawl. "Now see here, little lady. Mr. Harrison Ford is a great actor, especially in action-" He stopped and frowned deeper. "Wait, you're messing with me. Again." He smirks as he tilts his head down a bit more. "Does the extra-dense air down there make you sarcastic, or is it a special diet that gets you there?" Jill may notice a glowing blue ruler that reaches 6 feet event...meaning it has 4 inches on her own height. Corbin's whip fades, but the hat remains. He taps his chin in thought. "Erin has a point. I don't think robots get disease. Doesn't sound like you can make a computer virus, either. But hey, I'd be up for smashing more robots when we know they won't kill us or anything. What do you say, Marion?" There's a mischievous glint in his eyes as he speaks.

Carson frowned at the announcement, and at the worried chatter he heard outside the door. He turned to face Lawrence, who also looked worried. "I'm going to go check on what's going on with the nurse. I think you'll be fine in here, but just press your call button if you need anything, okay?" "Uh, yeah. Not like I can do much else anyways, Mr. Keefe." "Chin up, kid. You'll be fine in no time." With that, Gabriel was out the door. And boy, was it a madhouse. Doctors and nurses rushed everywhere, checking on patients. Gabriel briefly stopped one to make sure someone could keep an eye on Lawrence. He was, of course, able to smoothly talk his way out of going to some sort of special lockdown room. With ease, he slipped through the crowd, quickly finding an empty hallway to duck down. An empty patient room at the end gave him a handy place to stash his clothing and backpack after he changed. He was getting disturbingly good at ducking into rooms to change on the fly. With ease, he slipped back out, checking the hall before striding back into a more populated area. A couple of nurses at the station saw him and seemed to wave him over, so he quickly moved to speak with them. "I'm here to help. Call me Gabriel. What information do you have about the situation?"

Meanwhile, one floor up, Carson Keefe was visiting Lawrence. Lawrence was one of the kids who he'd worked with in his mentoring program; he was a good kid, and his family had hit some good luck recently, finally able to move to a slightly nicer home up in the West End. Lawrence had been doing better in school, or so his regular emails to Carson said. Right up until he had a freak accident that broke both collar bones and left him sitting in a hospital bed with essentially nothing to do. He still had another week before the casts came off, but he was in solid spirits. "So then, Connor tries to recover his senses, but when you've fainted like that, it's hard. He shakes his head, and starts reciting his lines...in French! It took him a good minute to get himself sorted out. We still tease him about it occasionally." Lawrence laughed at Carson's story. "Wow Mr. Keefe, I didn't think theater rehearsals could be so weird." "Well, the theater is a superstitious bunch of folks. They figure it's better to have all your problems early, so you can have good luck on opening night. You know that bit about not saying "good luck" opening night? It's true, or it has been for me. Well. I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea, but a lot of people I know do, so I figure it's better to go along. Otherwise, self-fulfilling prophecy and all that." Even as he regaled the youth with stories of misadventure in his own younger days, he couldn't help but worry a bit. Something had felt off a bit the whole day; originally, he hadn't planned to visit Lawrence today, but something in his heart told him he needed to be at this hospital today. But why?

Gabriel blinks that the list he's seeing. 'What in blazes is all this? Maybe I should just go have the priest pray over me or something...No. I've already come to her for help. Shoving it back in her face would be about the worst thing I could do.' He took a moment to respond to her question, what with it coming out of the blue like that. "It's just a shell right now. It's scheduled to be torn down soon, but there hasn't been time to rebuild it yet. They cleared the worst of the debris out, though."

Gabriel has to check again when he notices Midnight is gone. He shakes his head at the shadow-clad hero's initiative. 'Hope he can still work with the plan...' He gives Fusion a small wave as she leaves. "Good luck, and go with God." He quirks an eyebrow as Fleur starts putting on a powerful performance of petals and vines. As she begins to rearrange the field, a huge smile comes across his face. Fleur will hear his voice whispering in her ear where no one else can hear him. "Play along with what I'm about to do, and when I'm done, I'll apologize to both of you ladies. But I think this show needs a little more to make it a real Broadway hit." Suddenly, he stands and flies over, though not nearly as fast as Fleur knows he can be. Just as suddenly, the Androids held up by her vines seemingly begin to speak! "Oh no! Just as we thought we'd break free from this horrid woman's clutches, another of these blasted American "heroes" shows up!" "These gaijin will soon bow before the awe-inspiring presence of our master!" "I say thee nay! For we are not the gaijin here! It is Doctor Otaku himself, coming here uninvited from his homeland, to a place not of his birth, trying to impose his warped views of the world on us. Whatever criticism he tries to lay on us, is multiplied tenfold, and heaped back upon him! Now, I shall strike you down! Do not think your fair exteriors can fool me; I know his shoddy robotic creations when I see them!" "Do not say such things about our wonderful Master!" "We shall strike you down, you mono-colored Gaijin!" With that, Gabriel started to "attack" the two puppet androids. Instead of blasting them with bursts of sound, he seemed to resort to fisticuffs. "Fear not, Fleur de Joie! I shall keep these foul creations of a pathetic mind at bay! Just watch my back, and try not to let them gain the uper hand!" If Fleur didn't know any better, she'd say Gabriel was on the verge of laughing, at least for a moment. Then, it was gone, and he seemed to be all bluster and flourish.

They say all the world's a stage, but for today, our stage is the lawn outside the building. Gabriel's going to be using his Communication skill. As he doesn't know where Otaku is, he's basically just going to do general projection so that it hits the external microphones or whatnot, maybe leaks through into the building, but it doesn't go beyond the immediate area at all. First up, Bluff for Gabriel to simulate the voices of the Angel Androids. We'll go ahead and apply the +4 from Attractive. GM can give bonuses to Otaku where he desires. Bluff: 14+24=38 Now, to make the performance believable, we throw in a Perform: Acting check. Acting: 9+18=27 So...yeah. :D

"Shia LeBouf, from Transformers. The worst thing to happen to Indy was aliens. The commies weren't quite as bad." At her question regarding the presence of robots, Corbin nodded. He held his right hand out in front of him, at chest level, and seemed to concentrate. Slowly, blue energy leaked out of his ring. It started to take shape... "Yeah. The big one was almost the same design, just a difference in size. No imagination or artistry with these villains. Here you go, here's what they looked like. Except less blue, more metal." Indeed, in front of the teens floated a slightly transparent model of the robots Corbin and Erin had faced. It moved around a bit, miming firing energy weapons and the like. It obviously took a fair amount of concentration on Corbin's part to construct it.

Corbin gave enthusiastic applause as well. It really had been an awesome show. "That really was great!" He turned to Estelle and smiled, offering his arm again. "I think that sounds splendid. My folks look like they're itching to dance as well. I'll introduce once we're on the floor." He then followed the beautiful chemist to speak to the host of the party.

"I don't think I'd dismiss it as parlor tricks. Just...not something I normally deal with." Gabriel stoically stood there as Robin pricked his thumb and drew some blood. He accepted the rag with a simple nod, quickly wiping his hand enough to feel safe placing the bandage. The various symbols were...interesting. The crucifix was most obvious, with the harp taking but a moment to make the connection. The final symbol, though...that one left him frowning, and giving a slight shiver as well. He looked up into Robin's eyes several moments after she finishes speaking, clearly having taken some time to think things over. "Has my scent? Well, I suppose that's better than constant surveillance. Still, not something I'm fond of. What, exactly, goes into this charm of yours? Do I need to perform some sort of action to activate it?

Time for the (Revised) HellQ! This is for Cobalt Templar. Introduction Who are you? Sum yourself up in one sentence. I'm a kid with a magic ring, who's trying to do the right thing with all that he's been given. Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or nom de plume? My hero name is Cobalt Templar. I've been called "tiny" in an ironic sense a couple of times. What is your full birth name? Corbin Alphonse Hughes Where do you live? North Bay in Freedom City. We have a small mansion there. How old are you? What year were you born (if applicable)? I'm 17, born in 1993. Physical Traits What is your gender? If not applicable, please explain. Male. How would you describe your heritage? A mix of European lineages; my mother's German, but my father's actually a Norwegian/French mix. It's a nice eclectic heritage. How tall are you? Six feet, four inches, and the doctors say I could probably end up with another couple of inches before I stop growing. What is your body type? Big and muscular. I work out a decent amount, and I think I just kinda lucked out with genetics, making it easy to stay in this shape. Of course, these days, the ring seems to help that out some, too. Do you have any particular weaknesses, such as allergies or physical disabilities? In and of myself, no. How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? I'm no ballerina or anything, but for my size I'm fairly light on my feet. Comes from not wanting to constantly run into people and things. Unfortunately, that's not the same as actually being stealthy. I do, however, feel a decent amount of confidence. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. Skin tone is overall "white boy", but with a healthy tan. My eyes are brown, and my hair is black. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Do you have facial hair? My hair stays pretty short, and I stay clean-shaven. Less muss and fuss that way. Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? I'm certainly not ugly, and I've been flirted at by girls before. Some of it's the muscles, I'm sure. Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings, or birthmarks? None of these. Do you resemble anyone famous? Not in particular. Do you have a dominant hand? Definitely my right hand. What kind of clothing do you wear? Cargo shorts, tshirts, or carpenter jeans when it's truly chilly. Otherwise, I like seeing people with lower resistance to the cold stare in disbelief as I walk around in 50-degree weather in shorts. Do you wear makeup? Uh...no. What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? I'm a bass. Other than that, it's not got any special features; I speak with an American Midwest accent, aka "Broadcaster English", aka "the un-accent". Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? I tend to tap a pencil or pen when I'm thinking a lot, or nervous. Comes from just feeling the urge to move. I've gotten comments on it occasionally. Beyond that, I like to go draw at odd times when I need to think. It helps me drown out the world, an focus my mind a bit. History Where do you come from? Was born and raised in the St. Louis, Missouri area. We moved once within the area, a couple of miles really. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? Yeah, not that long ago we moved to Freedom City. It's...a bit of a shift. Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? Generally, yes. It's not perfect, but I do love America. The government...is run by human beings. That's probably the perfect encapsulation of all the good and the bad. How do you feel about the place you come from? I liked it a lot, back in St. Louis. I still miss our home there, the stuff to do there, and all my friends there. Where is your home town? What was/is it like? St. Louis, or at least a suburb of it. It was a great city. Plenty to do, both in the suburbs and the downtown city. Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? I was always the largest kid in the class, but beyond that, I wasn't really a true "minority". Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? Art, languages, and history. I've always been able to draw and paint well, and more recently I discovered a natural talent for languages, coupled with a love of history. All of these combined steered me towards a desire to work in the historical field, archeology in particular. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? Beyond "nearly dying in a collapsing secret chamber in the depths of Masada, only to discover I have a super-powered ring that really likes being near me", no, no traumatic events. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. Watching Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, then going to the library the next day and looking up what actual archeologists did. It was a letdown for about 5 minutes before I realized no Nazis meant I could look at cool historical buildings without worrying about gunfire. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? Oh, a few late nights driving with my friends. Flirting with some junior girls when I was a sophomore. That sort of thing. Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? Local high school to my suburb when I was in St. Louis. Now I go to Claremont Academy. The local school was good, no question. But Claremont's definitely showing its pedigree, and I think I like the school itself more. Still working on making friends, though. Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? Oh, there's plenty of stuff scattered around our house. Mom tends to hoard things like that. For me, personally, it's the genuine Indiana Jones fedora my dad bought me two years ago at Disney World. He bought it a bit big, so I've grown into it, and now it fits perfectly. I generally leave it in a safe place at the house. It's only to be worn for special occasions, where I need a bit of extra good luck. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? Not long after I figured out some of what my ring could do. For one thing, I figure that since I have this power, and the ring seems to be "attuned" to me, I should use it for something better than making comfy chairs of blue fire to sit in. Great power and responsibility and so on. My parents gave me that example my whole life; they always used their influence and wealth with great care and responsibility, often putting their employees first on their concerns. Add to that, I want to make sure I have excellent control of what this little ring can do, so I don't hurt someone. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? Not really. I may not give the whole spiel to random people, but the general sentiment is there. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Um. Maybe the circumstances on how I got the ring. I kinda didn't clearly communicate to Professors Smith and Amar how I escaped the collapse, or about the ring. Do you represent yourself as being different from who you really are? Why? Only in the sense of maintaining a separate hero identity. If you do have these secrets, what do you fear would happen if the truth became known? How far would you go to protect those secrets? People would likely start making connections between Corbin Hughes and Cobalt Templar. I wouldn't kill, but I'd likely try to figure out how to keep them silent nonetheless. Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? Nope. None. Family What are your biological parents' names? Albert and Sarah Hughes. Were you raised by them? If not, please explain and describe who raised you. Mostly. They traveled a lot when I was hitting the double digits in age, so I'd sometimes have family or friends of the family keeping an eye on me when they were both out of town. They tried to keep that from happening too often, though. What was their standing in the community? What did/do they do for a living? Both are respected business-people. My mom's working for the Rhodes Foundation, which has the whole "non-profit organization" thing going for it. Dad's work is more of a traditional business thing, but he's know for being very smart and very ethical, so it balances out. Where are your parents now? They live at the mansion in North Bay, still working the jobs that moved us here. Did your family stay in one area or move around a lot? Just the major move I mentioned above, and one earlier move from one suburb neighborhood to another. My parents did a fair amount of short-term travel, but they didn't stay anywhere else for more than about a week, typically. How did you get along with their parents? How do you get along with them now (if applicable). We've had some friction over their travel, and even more over our move. We got past it, though. The whole hero thing has them really off-balance, though. They love me, and they understand and even appreciate, objectively, my desire to help people. But they're still not sure about this whole super-powers thing. It's caused some awkward moments of late. How do your parents view you now, or how would they? As their beloved son, who's maybe "going through a phase". Then again, they thought my history kick was "just a phase", and then they saw it really wasn't. So I'm sure soon enough they'll shrug, accept it, and be really proud of their hero son. Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. No siblings. What was your birth order in the family? Only child. Where are your siblings now (if applicable)? Do they have families of their own? What do they do? Doesn't apply. Do you stay in touch with them or have you become estranged? Doesn't apply. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? Nope, love my parents equally. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? I tend to consult both Mom and Dad in equal measure. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. I'm slightly grayed, what with liking history more. But nothing major, really. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. Not that I know of. Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. Hey, I'm just a 17-year-old guy. I'm not settled down or anything; don't even have a girlfriend yet! If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? Someday? Yes. I'm pretty firm on this, and I don't really foresee easily changing my mind. What type of person would be your ideal mate? Someone who doesn't mind my hero work, can at least somewhat enjoy history, and who's generally a good person. If she's not 1/2 my physical size, that doesn't hurt her chances, either. Relationships Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. I had a few back in St. Louis, but I think things are already drifting apart a bit. Blake's someone I met at Claremont, and he's pretty cool. We're still doing the "getting to know your buddy" thing, but our mutual taste in music helps. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? I'm just reserved enough about such things to say "not quite yet". If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? My parents, my friends and schoolmates. Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? Not really, no. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. Not yet. I get the feeling it's a big world, though. If you have enemies, how do you think they might attempt to work against you in the future? Depends on how ruthless the enemy is. What is the worst thing someone has done to you? Um...taken out my wisdom teeth? I haven't really had any truly bad encounters as a hero yet or anything. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? My family, my friends, my hero work, my country. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? My parents. At the end of the day, they care about me, and will work to help and protect me, no matter our disagreements. Who or what do you despise? Why? Those who torment people who can't fight back. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? Courage, kindness, self-sacrifice. I'd say I do well on kindness and self-sacrifice, and even courage, to a point; I still occasionally have confidence issues. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? Callous disregard for the lives of others. Those who love to exploit others for their own gain. Do you have a secret identity? If so, who knows it? Do you hide it from people who are close to you? Why? Yes. Cobalt Templar and Corbin Hughes are two different people to the world at large. My parents, and basically anyone at Claremont, know my two identities. Hard to hide it from the people at the Academy, really. Do you work well on teams and in groups? Are you a leader or a follower? I think I work pretty well. I tend to follow, or sometimes take enough charge to act on my own ideas and initiative. Are you on a super team? If so, how do you get along with your comrades? Do you trust them, or do you have secrets from them? Not really. I've worked with people from Young Freedom and one or two other "young heroes" groups, but haven't officially joined any. Are you a member of any church, fraternal organization, club, committee, political party, or other group? How much time do you spend on that? None of the above. Personality & Beliefs Who are your heroes? Hm. Some of the modern-day historians and archeologists from the 20th century. All pioneers in their fields, really. And maybe Indiana Jones, a bit. Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? I've shifted which historians I liked most over the years, due to constantly maturing views on the world, and the history of the world. Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? More and more, I do. I just like helping people, and how they're almost always genuinely grateful. Beyond that, my sense of responsibility tends to push me to keep doing the hero thing. Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? If I lost the ring permanently. I'm pretty normal without it. What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? Figure out who made this ring, and why. Have a much better grasp on my powers. Be a senior at Claremont. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? Have total mastery over my powers, be an experienced hero, be a renowned archeologist, and maybe even a husband and a father. What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? Someone with ill intentions either somehow taking over my mind, or taking the ring directly, to use for evil. When I encounter this feeling, I push through it. I remind myself of what I'm capable of, and of my bond with the ring. Is there anything you would give you life for? To protect people if there was no other choice. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? Money's nice. Let's you do stuff. More than that, you can invest back into your community, and raise awareness for all sorts of stuff. Mom and Dad each have "pet projects" that they invest in, since they figure this helps them hit more "points of need". As far as I'm concerned, we have a right to honestly work, earn money, save money, and invest money. But we also have a responsibility to use at least some of that money wisely, and give back. I mean, really, when you've got close to a billion dollars, what's a hundred million? A couple years of interest from savings and such, that's what. How do you generally treat others? As nicely and politely as possible. Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? I generally am, and my trust has not been abused. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? A bit of both. I tend to do well with other people in small to moderate sized groups, and I do like to meet people and spend time with them. But sometimes, I need time to myself, to recharge and evaluate. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? Probably a bit more reserved and polite around girls than I am with guys. What are your most annoying habits? Tapping my foot, feet, and/or pens and pencils. If I'm somewhere I feel safe doing so, creating random shapes with my ring. Do you feel contempt for any general category of people? Who are they, and why? Yes. The people who deal in human misery through slavery and similar ventures. It just makes my blood boil. It's just so...wrong. What is your favorite food? Do you prefer any particular type of food? Do you take the time to enjoy your food, or do you eat as fast as you can? Kansas City Barbeque is pretty much the best stuff ever. Ever. I try to take my time with most any food if I'm not specifically in a rush. What is your favorite drink (alcoholic or otherwise)? Chocolate milk What is your favorite treat (dessert)? Probably a big slice of peanut butter and chocolate cake, or some variation on that. Are there any specific foodstuffs that you find disgusting or refuse to eat? Oysters and the like. What is your favorite color? Are there any colors you dislike? I'm pretty impartial, though I'm not a huge pink fan, at least not in large doses. What sort of music do you like? Is there any that you hate? Classic rock. Most all music, really. Not a fan of rap, or any music where I can't ever understand what they're singing, even if they're singing in "English". If you have a favorite scent, what is it? Chocolate. Do you have a favorite animal? Bears. What is your most treasured possession? Why? Autograph from Harrison Ford; it's a picture of my dad, Ford, and me at age 13. I mean, this is Indiana Jones, Han Solo, and plenty of other roles. He's just a cool actor. Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts? Creature comforts, so very much. Is there a job or a task you would absolutely refuse to do? Hum. Probably most any of the seedier sorts of work in the world. Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? Not...exactly. I don't discount that sort of thing, but my family's not really officially religious. We just kind of live our lives. Maybe one day that will change, but...right now, we just kind of shrug about it. Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? Not applicable. If you belong to a religious organization, how often do you attend? Do you have a specific place of worship, or friends within the organization? How much do you agree with the beliefs of your organization? Not applicable. Could you kill? Have you killed? I'm...honestly not sure. I haven't killed yet, and I really, really, really hope to never do so. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? Just how I was raised, I guess. Not sure I could bring myself to do such a thing. I'd be worried about it becoming easy. Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? Our government has laws regarding the use of force by military and police, as well as in self-defense. Intellectually, I'd say those apply. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Would your reaction be different if the killer was a friend or an enemy of yours? It would make me angry. I wouldn't necessarily want to kill them, but beat them up, yes. Friends or family would make me angrier, for sure. I'd be less certain of my control How would you react if something important was stolen from you? I'd be angry, and then call the police. And probably a few of the fellow heroes here at Claremont. How would you react to public humiliation? Likely just fly away to be alone for a while. If I could get away with flying away. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Has it happened to you? Grief, anger, probably a bit of denial. The classic symptoms, I guess. Thankfully, it hasn't happened. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? Like, one specific crime? Um...human trafficking, I guess. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? 1.)Tell my parents I love them, give them big hugs. 2.)Take the Mustang out for a good drive. 3.)Make one final drawing.. 4.)Kiss a girl, maybe a few times in a row. 5.)Fly to to top of the highest building, and watch the sunset. Career & Training Do you have any special training in your hero skills? If so, where and how did you get it? I'm receiving training at Claremont currently. Who taught you the most about your heroing abilities? What was your relationship with that person? Claremont staff, plus some self-teaching. I'm polite but professional with the staff here. Do you have any particularly unusual skills? How did you acquire them? I can draw, paint, and sculpt, as well as work a camera pretty well. Some is natural talent, but when I read about how various archeologists studied dig sights, the ability to draw and take pictures and such seemed like an excellent skill to have Do you do something besides hero work for a living? Have you ever done anything else, or do you plan to? Currently a high school student. I plan to go into history and archeology when I'm done with college, plus maybe some business stuff on the side. What is your preferred combat style? Create a weapon from my ring's power, and then shoot or smack my opponent. Have you ever received any awards or honours? Nope. What skill areas would you like most to improve in? Is there anything you can't do that you wish desperately you could? Probably my unarmed skill, and to a lesser extent my general close-in fighting. I'd love to be as easily flexible as some of the people around here. How do you act around people who are more skilled than you in areas you'd like to improve? Are you jealous, or do you try and learn? I try to figure out ways to learn from them. And also not be too jealous. Lifestyle & Hobbies What is a normal day for you? How do you feel when something interrupts this routine? Go to classes, do some homework, draw a bit to keep my skills sharp, maybe hang out with some people, and probably practice some with my ring. I've done a few patrols with more experienced students, but it's not quite regular yet. Do you have any hobbies, or interests outside hero work? What are they, and where did you pick them up? Besides the drawing and such? I think building Legos is the big one. Dad got me some for my 8th birthday, and I never looked back. What do you do for fun? Hanging out with friends, driving my car on a nice stretch of road, drawing and such. Occasionally go to a live music concert. Do you have a costume? What does it look like? I'm basically wearing "plate armor" all over. It's mostly blue, with red highlights, and a red transparent cape. Mainly the armor is my costume; my powers seem rooted in my skin when it comes to protection. The armor could actually break pretty easy, all told, since it's not really armor. How do you normally dress when not in costume? Casual and comfortable, thank you. What do you wear to bed most nights? Underwear and sleep shorts/pants. Do you wear any special jewelry? What is it, and what does it look like? Um...the magic ring on my right middle finger. It's got a silver-looking band with all sorts of small symbols carved in, and then a circular blue gem in the center, with more engraving just around the gem. Do you have a special place where you keep your valuables? There's a basement safe at the house, and I've stashed a few things in a nook on my dorm roof. Hard to reach, except maybe for some fliers. What's your preferred means of local travel? How about long distance? My car. Currently a pretty bog-standard sedan. Long distance, private jet. I'm not quite fast enough to easily fly coast-to-coast yet. Miscellaneous Have you ever made a will, or tried to make arrangements for your death? What provisions did you make? Not yet. Bit young to, actually. If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of identifying your body? My size, and a faint healed mark on my left thigh bone; I broke that bone cleanly several years back, but it always leaves a "scar". What would you like to be remembered for after your death? Being a great archeologist. Maybe some contributions in the business world. As CT, I'd say for being a good hero. Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? No, I'm here to help them, and I'd like to think the lessons my parents taught are well-rooted. What do you perceive as your greatest strength? My creativity. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? My under-confidence in the big picture. As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed your advice... "Never give up on any of your dreams. If you feel afraid, push past the fear. One day, I think you'll end up one of those rare fearless men. Don't be afraid to figure out your ring's history, but don't dwell on it too long when you find out. Don't forget to dream big."

Gabriel smirked at Stesha's comment about getting hurt. "Well, when you folks stop needing me to swoop in and help save the day, I'm sure I'll go longer without injury." He turned to regard Midnight for a moment, before giving a simple nod of greeting. "Nice to meet you, Midnight. Call me Gabriel. Now..." He listened as Fusion and Fleur discussed strategy. "He may be a pervert, but he's also obviously very intelligent. And resourceful. We have to be careful... Fleur, maybe I could go in with you, provide some backup? Then Fusion and Midnight could slip in the back. I'm not that big, but I am fairly noticeable. And pretty loud. Or, I could wait with Fusion and get plant-aported. Either way works, really. So long as we bring his little impromptu show to a full halt, and rescue any hostages in there, we should be fine." He gave a slightly worried glance to Fusion, watching her casually destroy that piece of rebar. The man on the phone had said she was angry. Perhaps Gabriel had underestimated that anger...

Corbin rolled his eyes at Jill's sarcasm, but still gave a friendly smile when he shook her hand. "Name's Corbin, Corbin Hughes. And Temple of Doom was probably my least favorite of the trilogy. And what's wrong with using "nifty"? It's a serviceable word." He just shakes his head as he releases Jill's from their handshake. "Never was in the Boy Scouts. Wait, that was you giving me a hard time, too. Yeah, I'm already seeing the pattern." He turned as Erin spoke, seeming to take in her words with serious contemplation. "No paperwork? Cool. More time to draw, then. Got all my homework done early so I could relax. As for slacking off, you crushed that one robot's head out of nowhere. You definitely didn't do badly out there. About commanding stuff...I suppose I'll keep that in mind. As well as try not to die."

"I have a feeling you're right on both counts. We do seem to see things in a similar light... And that creature will almost assuredly keep trying to spread its reach. I'm just thankful its influence in Southside has stalled for the moment. But its ability to enthrall means this demon can spread its power more quickly than most humans. The puzzler is who called it. Our one encounter, it seemed to be acting very independently. I worry that it was called accidentally, and thus isn't being controlled at all." He shook his head. "Still, that's something to let our arcane expert to worry about when the time comes. Again, I'll make sure you're in the loop when it happens."

Corbin just shook his head at Jill's sarcasm. "Point is, you've got her healed up. Thank you. I'd hate to have "got my team leader half-killed" go on my record or something. That was pretty nifty, though. Your powers let you heal, just like that? That is definitely impressive." He glances at Erin, nodding at her visually improved state. His arms uncrossed, his hands finding their way into his pockets. "Well, seems like everything's taken care of...do we need to fill out more paperwork, Erin, or can I just go do some homework and hang out with Blake for a bit?"

Associated Tropes Badass Longcoat: Given to him by an archangel, no less! Lawful Good: But still a nice guy. The Cape: He dresses in a coat, not a cape, but otherwise fits to a "t". Christianity is Catholic: Played straight. He's from the Republic of Ireland, so it's kind of expected. Archangel Gabriel: Not only the inspiration for his heroic name, but also the one who gave him his powers. Estrogen Brigade Bait: Carson is a 20-something Irish immigrant in great shape. That his powers push his Charisma to literally superhuman levels doesn't hurt. Knight in Shining Armor: Gabriel has the attitude, and while he doesn't wear true armor, his outfit is almost entirely bright white, so he's still pretty shiny. Red Headed Hero: Hidden by his costume, but otherwise true. Martial Pacifist: Gabriel prefers to talk foes down from their actions. Failing that, he prefers to incapacitate them with various abilities, rather than beating them into submission. Make Me Wanna Shout: Gabriel's entire powerset revolves around the use of sound and sonic energy. Charm Person: While he doesn't push it to the fullest, Gabriel could easily get whole crowds to do whatever he wanted, after only a couple of minutes talking to them. Beware the Nice Ones: Gabriel is normally a very nice person. But if pushed, he can become a holy terror in a fight.

Gabriel gave Partisan a half-smile. "Glad to know I have your support. I brought it up because that thing's been trying to sink it's talons into Southside, with some success. I figure you'd want in on a fight to stop it. I know another couple of people who faced it last time who might be up for a rematch. Beyond that, I can hopefully find someone with a bit of arcane knowledge to help us out. I want to be properly prepared when we face this thing next." He glanced at his comrade-in-arms, curiosity all over his face. "You've faced demons before? Any handy tips you can pass on?"

This one goes up next due to JackgarPrime's interest in the idea. Red Ring Color: Red Emotion/Mind-state: Courage, Rage, Tenacity Intended Role: Brawler, Blaster Summary: Unlike the Blue Ring, the Red ring is much more focused. No walls, no TK. Just general boosts to how tough and strong the user is, enough Enhanced Strength to meet caps for melee attacks, and several direct attack powers. This ring is meant for the wielder to wade into the middle of a fight, and start hurting enemies, taking them out of the fight quickly and directly. Powerset: When "x" is used, it denotes a number that can be adjusted by the player, to best fit it to the individual character (especially their PL) Notes: Really, there's a bit more here even than in the Blue Ring. But by the same token, it's a bit more flexible. Starved for points? Drop some of the Acid Control APs, and simplify the powers a bit. You'll have room to grow. As well, Enhanced Con should be used to bring the character up to the desired level of Toughness save. Impervious is separate to denote the literally supernatural protection the character has; it can be cut down or trimmed to save points. Now, as for the whole "Red Lantern" bit. While some would choose to model this with Flaws and Drawbacks, I'd suggest instead using primarily Complications. Tone it down a bit, and just have the character be one that's utterly reckless, and ruled almost entirely by their anger when they make any choice at all. Uncontrollable rage is hard to play as a PC. As an NPC, it's a bit of a moot point. If you're flush with points, maybe throw in Immovable (Unstoppable if you can manage it), and at least partial immunity to mental effects. You're so angry you won't listen to the puny voice in your head! Edit: I removed the Penetrating and Autofire Blasts. They seem redundant with having a Toughness-lowering mechanic, and the player can always plop them back in there. It does leave the array a bit sparse, but then this build is really one that's heavier on static powers anyways.

When the missiles exploded, Gabriel's expression could best be summed up as "dumb shock". When he hit the ground, rolling across the broken asphalt, it was instead "incredible pain". It felt like half his ribs broke, and he was sure at least one shoulder was out of socket. And man, did his right leg hurt! He lay there, contemplating what it was about being a hero that kept leading to him being sprawled out on the ground, rather horribly hurt. It just didn't seem fair... "Bloody tin can..." he wheezed out, trying to move, and failing. He was about to try again when Fleur appeared. "Oh, Fleur, thank good-" And then he had a ball of the weirdest stuff in his mouth. With a grimace, he bit down, chewed, and swallowed it. It took several moments, but then he started to feel much better. In fact, it was like he could feel his bones and muscles knitting themselves together. In the space of perhaps 20 seconds, he went from "heavily injured" to "perfectly fine". Gabriel brought himself to a sitting position once the work seemed finished, shooting Fleur a grateful smile. "Thanks, Fleur. Not the best tasting medicine, but I can't argue with the results." He slowly stood to his feet, nodding to Fusion as she approached. "Hello Fusion. Thanks for finishing off the bloody thrice-damned robot. Good to know my efforts bore fruit." He looked at the small group. "So. I presume we want to head inside? It seems possible he has hostages, the regular crew of the station. We've stopped the primary broadcast, but we likely don't want to give him time to improvise..."
-
Gabriel's smile was pretty much glued in place as he lazily shifted his flight path so he slowly circled the other two heroes. "Do you think it would be possible to arrange an off-world visit for us one day soon? Maybe someplace that has a culture with a lot of music and/or theater?" Suddenly, he snapped his fingers and pointed at Dark Star. "I just remembered, I have some of your clothes. I, uh, borrowed them when Fleur was helping me recover. I kind of didn't have an overnight bag, so we had to improvise." He figured mentioning things in this manner shouldn't do any harm; Dark Star had already mentioned his relationship with Fleur. "When we wrap up our patrol, we can swing near my place and I'll pick them up and give them to you. They're washed and folded and everything, I promise."

Gabriel helped Victory move the Power Corps members over near the armored truck, though he mostly just watched. The military cyborg was just a bit stronger than our sound-wielding hero, after all. Eventually, he moved over to observe Geckoman's work. "Thank you for your help. I'm Gabriel, by the way." He reached down and gave a slight sonic pulse to a pesky latch, popping it open. "Want to see if we can wake this one up, try to get a bit more information out of him?"
-
Corbin chuckled. "Yeah, you certainly can't slack off on your studies here. Mr. Summers seems to have a knack for getting challenging teachers." He held out his right hand for Mark to shake, a friendly smile on his face. "Thanks again for the small tour, and your time. It definitely made me feel a bit more at home here. I'm sure we'll see each other around. And let me know if I can do anything for you, if for some bizarre reason such a situation came about."
-
Corbin stepped to one side as Jill walked up. He didn't recognize her, but she seemed to know what she was doing. Thus, he assumed she would help the situation. He frowned at Erin's response. "All due respect, Erin, but you're not "fine". She's offering to heal you. It's clearly not going to consume finite physical resources. Wouldn't it be more tactically sound to be healed up, in case a crisis pops up? Which...doesn't seem impossible in this city. Point is, no harm in letting her heal you. After all, isn't that what you'd be insisting for anyone under your command?"
