  1. Strix's fangs and tongue retracted, and his grip released the woman. As the vampire relaxed, so too did the grip on his shoulder. Even for a normal man it would not have been painful, but it was very...present. Now, Judex fully released the white-clad hero and gave him a couple of friendly pats. "There we go, dear sir. Remember, we are the sheepdogs not the shearers. Ours is not to weigh and measure the flock, but to defend them. Sheep go astray but the Shepherd must be the one to return them. Now!" He clapped his hands and rubbed them for several moments, before letting them drop and starting to walk for the door. "We have space to cross and less time to cross it in. Let us away, as unto Elijah outracing the chariots of the king! There's wolves afoot in the woods yet!" He moved with purpose in his steps, but also what some might consider a spring in those same steps...
  2. Micah went very, very still at Zenith's words, his face and body simply ceasing movement for several moments. And at the same moment, every single bit of breeze in the entire courtyard simply stopped. The only air movement came from the breath and movements of the other people present in that scarred space. Above them, the sky darkened, just a bit. And then the moment was gone as Micah turned away from the glowing, spiteful girl and toward the Headmistress. He simply nodded and spoke quietly. "Yes, ma'am." His aura faded as he walked over to the creature she'd asked him to help contain and reached down to help Fascimile pick it up and take it away.
  3. When the Krampus had reared back, Micah had taken to the sky, a green blur streaking through the air. When the monster faded away, the shield disappeared, and the adults returned, he was suddenly there. He landed with a crack of thunder, his body wreathed in a green-tinted aurora borealis, and his back sporting two well-defined wings of lightning. He scowled at Zenith's words. "Oh get off yer high horse, Corinne. She ain't draftin' us, she's deputizin' us. And I don't know if there's anyone in the world coulda planned for that thing. Headmistress is here now." His home accent was far more pronounced just now, showing that he'd clearly been practicing having a non-descript Midwestern American accent for the most part. He looked toward the Headmistress, lifting up his protective goggles. As he spoke, his accent faded, though his grammar took more time to readjust. "I'm doing fine, ma'am. No injuries, just got stuck for a bit by the big one. None of the...whatever those are...made it into the dorms, we kept them out here. Then took care of them. Well. Most of them."

  5. I'm fine with a scene cut, pulling up in the Unkindness (and any other cars chosen).
  6. Micah watched some of the byplay in the room and shifted uncomfortably. He couldn't pick up on everything, but some instinctual part of him said stuff was going on. Probably girl stuff. 'If I just leave it be I should be fine. Not like it involves me, right?' Instead he chose to lean forward and glance at the ongoing puzzle work, before carefully pointing to a couple of pieces. "Don't these go here, kinda toward the corner?"
  7. Judex watched Strix ascend as unto smoke from a censer, his face thoughtful and sad. With a sigh he turned back to the good doctor. "I think now we should go join our friend outside, with both haste and stealth. Shall we?" With an exaggerated bow that just happened to fling his hood onto his head and obscure his features, Judex waved Thorne forward, intending to swiftly follow the shape-shifting occultist-doctor outside, and likely up the fire escape of a different building. However, before he could do any such thing, Strix came back inside. Holding the mother...and threatening her life. He moved like a panther, getting up next to Strix and putting one hand on his shoulder. He didn't quite squeeze, but the grip was firm nonetheless. "I think she gets the message, friend."
  8. Raven watched Dewstar for several long moments, then finally looked over to Chromium. "Yeah. I have a ride. I'll bring it out in a second." He turned and began walking away, back toward the others. He pushed a couple of pieces on one of his gauntlets, then a couple of buttons on his belt. Somewhere in the distance, an engine roared for a second. "What's the address for the graveyard? We need to get moving. I want this done, and Dewstar off this planet, as soon as possible."
  9. Thoughtspeed's mask kept his eyes obscured, so even when his helmet was retracted, he could hide the fact that he about goggled his eyes out at the message from the Egyptian-themed metahuman. Almost immediately, he extended his helmet and blurred, taking a quick circuit of the crowd on habit. His form blurred back to a stop next to the others just moments later. His voice sounded in the head of Scarab and Comrade Frost. --I don't know if I trust this guy, but I'm also not sure we can afford to not trust him. Maybe you two could go in to the tent, and I'll keep running patrols?--
  10. Micah blinked as he shook out his arms and legs. The campus was a mess! Part of him was anxious about being blamed, somehow, but the large majority...was angry. This monster had come here to hurt not just him and his friends, but everyone on campus. They were just kids! And now, he'd unleashed these things. Some of them were already crawling up the walls of one of the dorm buildings. There were still people inside! "No! You don't get to hurt them!" Everyone felt the air stir around them, before Micah moved stupendously fast. The air rippled as he flew through it, and was twisting and turning in barely-visible eddies around his body as he arrive next to the batch of Dark Elves at the dorm. For Micah, everything was moving in slow motion. Like everyone was trying to swim through cold molasses. The chittering intruders might as well have been statues as he got to work. With wind and lightning boosting his arms, Micah began striking each of the Dark Elf attackers in turn, going for their heads and torsos and knees and more. In moments, he'd struck them all a half-dozen times or more, his blows landing like hammers on them, so quickly it was like he struck all of them at once. When he came to a stop, his back had seemingly sprouted two green wings of crackling fury, even as he crouched there breathing heavily.
  11. The Rookery One Week Later Raven sat in a comfortable chair, currently clad in the under-layer of his suit, his armor, cape, and mask perched on a nearby stand, ready to be donned in a few moments. He stood suddenly, going to the large, gleaming table in front of him, with several holographs floating in the air overhead. It contained all the information the three of them had gather thus far, with lines tracing between various pieces, a few with question marks. Alek had invited Chris and Ashley here because they'd have more resources on-hand, and a quieter, more secure space to plan. He'd offered to pick one or both up, to ensure their transport was more secure. Ashley in particular needed to be cautious, and Alek wanted to accommodate that. Even if part of him blamed her for something that wasn't really her fault. No more than it was his fault, in a way. "I don't like how this is adding up. It could just be a personality shift, but this almost comes across like someone replaced him...."
  12. "There's always power in blood, my friend. I'm not here to condemn you." His voice is soft, almost gentle. "The important thing is, you stopped. So, rather than dwelling on you flagellating yourself as a measly replacement for grace, let's focus on the actual problem at hand." His expression grows stormy. "I think it's time to go to the root of this sickness, and...pull it out." "
  13. "Freedom Hall would be cool. Even just the regular parts. I mean, what exactly are we even looking for in a 'behind the scenes' tour?" He frowned at himself. "Sorry, that came out harsh. But I guess I just don't get much of the hype about that stuff. Isn't it mostly just janitor closets and maybe private rooms for the heroes that stay overnight or whatnot?" He turned toward Corinne at the description of the Liege Waffles with a grin. "Sounds tasty! Those, at least, I'm down for. Skiing's kind of a meh for me? Sorry, just...didn't really have nearly enough snow to ever get the practice, back home. Didn't ever really get on any ski trips, either. Just wasn't time or means."
  14. Right, there's still a lot of Dark Elves about. Time to try and fix that. Move Action: Get up in the middle of the Dark Elves. If they're too far apart, favor the ones on the dorm walls. Free Action: Power Attack +5 Damage -5 Attack, All Out Attack +2 Attack -2 Defense. Net Result: Borealis Blitz DC 28 Toughness Save, Attack +10, Defense +10. Free Action: Switch Array to Borealis Blitz power. Standard Action: Borealis Blitz, Take 10. That's a 20 to hit as many as the rank 8 Targeted Burst can hit. It's going after only the Dark Elves. DC 28 Toughness.
  15. Micah stopped playing as conversation picked up and he had to concentrate more on following everything going on. He replied to Danica's question about his abilities first. "I mean, yeah, sure. Not all day long, but for a little bit. I'd say I can do stuff that size without a lot of worry, and stuff at about the campus's size without a major issue, if it's subtle. Making the whole campus warm might jack with local weather, though. A tunnel is small enough the patterns will just kind of...move around it.I just don't want to do something that, like, makes a super-storm in Africa or something." He scrunched his face up in confusion at Corinne's description. "I've never heard of 'Liege Waffles', is that a special brand or something?" He heard the chatter about a trip. Thinking on it for a moment, he offered up his own thoughts. "I mean, if it's a surprise trip that doesn't need extra paperwork from our families, my guess is that it's someplace safe and 'mild'. Freedom Hall, City Hall, something like that."

  17. Judex leaned over the railing for a moment before looking back at the good Doctor wit ha sigh. "Our fine feathered friend needs help...against himself. See you down there!" He took two steps back, then vaulted over the railing, his trajectory flinging him to the opposite side of the stairwell. He laid hold of the railing there for a moment, before repeating his earlier move. Down he went, hopping between landings before he finally made the last leap. His landing was solid, a classic three-point affair that was muted only due to the rather lackluster surroundings. Slowly, Judex stood, holding his hands palm-forward as he walked toward Strix. "Now now my friend, do try not to get carried away there..."
  18. The young weather controller's playing slowed at Judy's question. "I...I mean, I guess I could try? Can I get a..a trial period? Sorry, I just.." He stopped playing for a moment and gestured around them. There was a lot going on right now! "Doing this here is kind of a big step. But...yeah. I can try. Might as well put this thing to use? It's too cold to fix cars and bikes right now, heated garage be danged. Also, I do at least kind of agree about math classes, Ashley, though geometry's handy for flying, too." Micah huffed indignantly at Danica's insistence on the cold, even as he picked up a new tune. "I could just give you a tunnel of hot air to the library. Or you could take Corinne's car. Or her offer to get the books." He glanced at the flighty girl's mention of waffles, slowing a bit. "Uh. Just classic waffles? Or blueberry?" And then Nicole and Judy were...Micah wasn't sure what was going on but the hair on the back of his neck was standing up, and he was pretty sure it wasn't his own fault this time. He stayed silent, but glanced toward Leroy, and then Ashley, with a raised brow and confused expression on his face.
  19. "You assume the Pact exists solely to protect us. And our world has driven back the Terminus. Multiple times. Including Omega. Multiple times. You're a two-bit juiced-up assassin. You're a dime a dozen in this city alone. Point is, you don't scare me, Dewstar. So with that out of the way." Raven takes a half-step back and slightly relaxes. Dewstar can feel him roll his eyes at the "whatever you want" line. "Yeah, well, that'd be easy, since what I'd want would be 'leave again'. Anyways." He frowns thoughtfully at her description of this individual. "Is there a word in another language that you're translating? I might be familiar with it."
  20. Micah's brain felt stiff, almost gummy. The blast of supernatural cold had left him numb, aching, and trapped in a shell of ice. For just a moment, he considered just drifting off to sleep... Then he heard his roommates voice, roaring with defiance, will, and optimism. Micah blinked and shook his head. He looked down at his body, then closed his eyes and concentrated. The air around him stirred once, twice, then began to pick up, whirling around him even as tiny sparks and ripples of green lightning played up and down his body. In this space, he was focused on heat rather than explosive damage, so all of this electricity focused more on the "hot as the surface of the sun" aspect of things. Micah was clearly focused on just being free, though if his constant glances toward the Krampus were any indication, he was pretty clearly thinking beyond that, on top of wondering if the ice-beast would try to contest literally anything he tried. Thankfully he wasn't the only one drawing attention to themselves, at this point.
  21. Thunderbird will spend an HP to un-daze himself. Then, he will adjust his Weather Control to be 12 ranks of HEAT. He'll keep the area tight around himself, though. I'll go ahead and roll a Power Check: 32. Well then!
  22. "You know, Danica, if the cold's the problem, you could just, uh, ask nicely for some help?" Micah, shockingly, not only speaks of his own volition, he almost sounds sarcastic! Ever since the Incident At Christmas, he's had a little bit more fire in his belly, at least from time to time. He'd wandered in a few minutes ago, going to a far corner with a large, lumpy black case of some kind. Now he plopped down on one side of an empty couch near Ashley, Judy, Danica, and the others near them. The people he knew best and was most comfortable around. Oh, and he was holding an acoustic guitar. "I haven't started writing it. Still wrestling with whether to write what I want to, though. Something about..." He strums once. "About the Trail of Tears. Just...I dunno, something about it's been cropping up in my head, but it's a bit big." He starts softly strumming the chords to a faster-paced song. "And Ashley, I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. History's important. If we don't remember what happened, what mistakes were made, we're doomed to repeat them. And if we forget the wisdom and lessons of our elders and our ancestors, we dishonor everything they worked to give us, whether they're here or with the Lord." He plays for a moment more, gaze looking nowhere, before shaking his head. "No, that's too big for this paper. Need something smaller. Hm. Judy's idea is good, it's more local, more focused...Anyone remember who the first Native American superhero was?"
  23. I hereby invoke Roommate Privileges.
  24. Judex's gaze shifted smoothly to the two new arrivals, his form sweaty and a bit winded, but still whole and uninjured. "Y'all picked the wrong direction, little wolves. You're messing with the big sheepdogs now." His head lashed forward and caught the first thug's nose, which left him reeling and open to be grabbed around the neck and body-slammed back-first into the floor behind Judex. Before he stood back up, the hairy hero's feet lashed out and tripped the other thug. This left him open for being grabbed up by belt and neck, then slammed down on top of his compatriot. With those two out of the way, Judex turned to Dr. Thorne and spoke, smiling still despite all the human wreckage around them. "Shall we join our fine feathered friend now?"
