  1. Micah was definitely giving Ashley some side-eye. "Yeah, the breaking and shooting seemed a bit much? And I'm saying this as a dude who's probably going to rack up a bit of collateral if I do somehow end up going into hero-ing at all." He sighed and shrugged. "I guess the important part is everyone's okay and safe? Though...don't you have, like taser-guns, or something? I mean, they'd still hurt, but they wouldn't hurt-hurt people, yeah?"
  2. There was a sudden breeze for several moments that shouldn't be there, followed by a barely-audible thrum above her for several moments. The light was dimmer even than before, and then everything passed. Copycat's senses ought to have been sharp enough, especially with how she was expecting this, to pick up the shadow that dropped form the sky with a whisper of kevlar and cloth, landing with a muffled thump and a slow rustle of a cape against armor. White eyes began to glow in the dark, before the Raven walked into what passed for the light. The shadow overhead was gone in eyeblinks. "How bad is it?" There was no judgement in his voice, just concern. Though Copycat couldn't quite tell if it was for her, the school, or both.
  3. Micah had been packing for his trip in the morning. It was late, but he'd had a busy semester, and despite his speed, his nerves and the general stress of "will I forget something" combined to make him pack and re-pack several times. The fact that he was taking two bags that could be strapped to his person and kept streamlined likely played a part as well; he couldn't just stuff them until they were full. He might be able to travel back and forth in the space of an hour or so, but that didn't mean he wanted to spend half a day flitting back and forth with forgotten luggage. He'd just finished packing the second bag (which he wore slung over his chest) when the first impact step was felt. Then another. It took him a moment to figure out the pattern was steps, and not some bizarre earthquake. As he turned to the window, a wave of a strange blue light swept over the campus, passing through his room. It didn't do anything to him...beyond leave an odd chill in his bones that he quickly shook. His body glowed with light, and Micah did a quick sweep of the campus to discover what the other students there were also realizing: all of the adults were suddenly, simply gone. It was only moments more before he was back in his room. Less than a minute later, he was adjusting his goggles on his face as he stood on the roof and stared at the towering thing steadily heading toward the Claremont campus. "What in Heaven's name..."
  4. I'm going to go ahead and throw Micah into this. He was gonna take an early trip tomorrow (it's a quick flight for him!), so he's still on-campus tonight. I'll roll a Knowledge (History): 10. Initiative: 14.
  5. Judex looked down the stairs and beheld the group below him. With a laugh, he dashed down, practically skipping steps until he was in direct sight of the front of that group. With a wordless yell, he launched himself into the air. He managed to collide with the mid-section of the man in the front, but between the man's natural "padding", the poor angle of the blow, and his comrades behind him, the criminal was left standing... With Judex now hanging on fiercely, his grin shining through that great beard of his. Casually, he wrenched the man around to face away from him and toward his comrades. Both of them were sent ducking and weaving around incoming blows as Judex laughed some more. "Haha! Good show brothers, but I think you protest too much! Your black-hearted sins bear fruit today, boys!" He tightened his grip just a bit as he planned his next move.
  6. Those both miss, yes. So, no damage, but he's grappled. I already used my Move Action, and I'm not going to surge, so that will be my round for now. IC post shortly.
  7. Wait, I'm confused. Who's where so far? Supercape posted as if Rev was with Sofia and Dom, but then Tarrak posted as if Chrome was with Rev, but at the spot where Dewstar's working. And it's kind of snowballing from there. Those are 2 different locations, yeah? So who's actually going to which one?
  8. "We can workshop a team name later, Pulse." Micah manages not to roll his eyes good-naturedly at her comments regarding their gender ratio. He relaxed a bit as the authorities came on-scene, stepping aside and quickly out of the store as they did so. By the time the little group was school-bound, he was calmed all the way down, his eyes back to normal. Well, mostly calm. Being this close to Ashley when she was Watchdog, especially after the "gonna have some fun" comment, was...slightly uncomfortable. "I'm fine, yeah. Danica was the one at the most risk. Good thinking and all back there! As for shopping....I guess I'm no more scared off than I was before?" He shrugged a bit. "Did find a couple good books. Are you two okay, too?"
  9. Hm. Offhand, I can't think of big changes. Probably a few more scars and trophies. Gabriel's sheet hasn't changed much, thus neither has Morningstar's. He's pretty content to be undisputed King of Ireland.
  10. Yes. I mean I’m not really available during our holiday trip but overall yes.
  11. I'm going to be out of town for a few days and likely unable to meaningfully post during that time. Roughly a week's time. I should be able to catch back up after that.
  12. With the holidays approaching I'm not sure how free I'll be, but if you're interested, I'm sure Morningstar would be available.
  13. Going to do something pretty similar to last time. Move Action: Get up on the next group. Standard Action: Melee Attack: take 10 for 20. DC 19 Toughness. Grapple Check: 31.
  14. Micah nodded as Ashley took charge; as much as he wanted to get in there, he trusted the girl's instincts. His eyes glowed brightly, only managing not to draw attention because it was (muted) daylight. He kept pace behind Watchdog, not even flinching at her sidearm; while he didn't own or really intend to ever use one, he was not a stranger to them. He kept the lightning from overflowing out of his body, from making him move too fast. But it was an effort. When Ashley kicked the door in, Micah's eyes swept for threats outside before turning to the robbers inside the Claire's. He saw them complying with Ashley's demands, and gave them a confident smirk, followed up with an "I'm Watching You" gesture that probably kept its gravitas due to his eyes being solid glowing green with tiny crackles of lightning and St. Elmo's Fire bleeding from the edges and corners. "You okay in there, Danica?"
  15. Micah blinked in confusion at first as Danica spoke; the girl may walk slow, but that didn't mean she talked slow! But then he heard the word "gun", and Ashley saw his face go almost blank, a strange calm coming over the young man. When Judy's hand squeezed his, he unconsciously squeezed back; in the moment, it was a gesture of reassurance and safety, not potentially "naughty" affection or attraction. "Danica, I know they shouldn't be able to hurt you, but you need to try and not make any sudden movements. Just keep the cashier safe. I'll be there in a moment. I'm going to hang up the phone so it doesn't get damaged now. Please try to keep yourself and the cashier back from the windows." Outside, the sky overhead was taking on a distinct gray cast, and the wind was picking up. Judy could probably pick up the uptick in ambient static and electromagnetic energy from the sky....and Micah. When Ashley asked him what was going on, he looked her right in the eye as he answered; the vigilante couldn't miss that his eyes were no longer brown. They were green. "Danica's in the Claire's. There are at least two people with guns, and at least one hostage, the cashier. Danica should be fine, and yes I'm sure it was her. For a tortoise, she's a fast talker. Now we need to go help her. Keep your sister behind us." He begins walking quickly toward the door, his body now showing barely-restrained energy, as if he wanted to burst out in a run. Despite facing away from them, they clearly heard Micah's half-muttered next words, with a heavier accent than what Micah usually displayed.. "My daddy didn't raise no coward."
  16. "Hm, if you're hitting World War 2, what about something on the code-talkers? I know they had a movie but it was a while back. They don't get enough attention, you know? Hm, I don't think I caught either one of the movies. Sounds like they're pretty good?" He was thumbing through a book on the history of motorcycles, now. He started to say something else, then he noticed Ashley's curse and sudden demeanor shift. He frowned and set the book down, starting to walk toward the grumpy older sister. "Ashley, what's going-" His phone buzzed, and as he pulled it out he saw it was Danica. Blinking, he clicked the button to answer. "Hey Danica, what's up?"

  18. "Star Wars is very much a story that transcends any one philosophy or religion, yeah. I mean, there's some pretty obvious Eastern-ish influences, but it goes well beyond that. The themes are what really matter." He pauses, pulling down a book and skimming the cover summary before putting it back. "Well, that and the laser swords and space ships. I'd be lying if I said those didn't matter, and my father didn't raise a liar." Judy could hear the slight smile in his face. This...was probably the first time Micah had mentioned his father. And one of the handful he'd made reference to family in general. "Hm. Not a lot of great new stuff this month. Guess it's a slow month. You know what books we need more of?" He seemed to actually be waiting for an answer even if the question sounded rhetorical.
  19. "Narnia's fun. I like Tolkien's work, too. I...when I'm reading fiction, I like a world where there's at least some justice. If stuff's too muddled, it's just not fun for me. Sci-fi is not usually as good at that, though Star Wars is pretty good. But it makes up for it with...you know, not being super-trope-y." He shrugged vaguely as they walked along. He noted Judy's path, but for the moment he himself drifted toward the Fantasy & Science Fiction section, just kind of walking through the aisles without much aim. He hadn't intended to specifically separate from Judy, but he was in a bookstore and wanted to look at books, so there you go...
  20. Judex felt the assault of the thugs lessening, heard several of them in the hallway collapsing. Slowly but surely, his arms came down from protecting his head, revealing his face. He was smiling. Then he laughed. "Rejoice, brothers! For today, I shall help drag you closer to redemption!" His right hand lashed out, the palm slamming the temple of the man closest to him. It struck with the whole forearm behind the blow, putting all the force into his foe instead of Judex's arm. The man dropped like a sack of potatoes. The next man received a one-two combination of a boot to his nether regions, followed by a knee to his face. "For it is as the Good Book says!" He shoved his hand into another man's throat, kneed him in the gut, and threw him to the ground. "Blows and wounds scrub away evil! I greet you now with a holy kiss as I deliver more good news!" He leapt forward, as his hands grasped one man and wrangled him around, until he had his head under one arm. He actually kissed the man's forehead, before whirling him to the ground in a landing that drove the man insensate. "Beatings purge the inmost soul, my friends! And your souls have much that needs purging!" His hand lashed out, grabbing the fifth man by the neck and lifting him a couple of inches off the ground. Judex brought him closer, that same smile still on his face. "Your sins are many, but I am here to rebuke you! To turn you to the ways of righteousness!" He grasped the man's belt buckle and lifted him higher, laughing now. "I return you to your brethren, that ye may repent of your unrighteousness!" And then he threw the man into the next cluster of thugs out into the hall, as easy as some might toss a duffel bag of clothing.
  21. Imma throw 'im. Ranged Attack: 19. Which hits, per Chat where it was stated the DC was 14.
  22. Right, let's see here. I think Judex is going to try and grapple 1-2 of the dudes, since he's very much built as a grappler/wrestler. With his feat selection, he can grab and grapple and also punch. This is gonna be great. Melee Attack: 19, that hits. DC 19 Toughness. Grapple Check: 23. Not sure how we want to use Takedown Attack here.
  23. Micah ultimately picked the two-color tie, again citing his ownership of a one-color tie and limited dress clothes wardrobe. Once checked out, he tucked the small-ish box with the tie into one of his windbreaker's jackets; they were just large and flexible enough to handle it, and this way his hands were (more) free. At Judy's question, he shrugged a bit. "Well, I like biography now and again, mostly musicians. Books on aircraft history, stuff like that. I like fiction, especially science fiction. Fantasy can be good, but..." He rolled the words around in his head for a few moments. "Some, not all but a lot, of fantasy authors are worse about...using stereotypes. Mainly for non-white folks. Not always negative ones, but...it still gets tiresome. Same reason I'm not big into crime dramas and the like. Most history books are depressing or frustrating."
  24. Judex was genuinely taken by surprise by the sheer suddenness of the group's attack. He didn't have time to avoid their blows; instead, he moved himself such that the blades scraped fabric, not flesh, and the clubs and fists and feet struck the thickest parts of his body. He might have a few bruises later...but then again, maybe not. For now, he weathered the storm, forearms covering the slowly-growing smile on his face...
  25. Micah hummed thoughtfully at Danica's suggestions. "Hm. Well, I've got one that's a dark green. And I barely ever wear ties; my only tie-worthy shirts are white...hm. You know what, the red...and...blue..." Outside, the breeze picked up, and for a few moments, so did the temperature. His sentence trailed off as Judy walked out in her dress. It was a simple look, but Micah was a simple man, really. After a moment, he shook his head, turning to Ashley. The weather calmed down (such as it hadn't been calm) and went back to the natural pattern of a moment ago. "I...um. Honestly? That would feel weird, and I'm not sure how well it could work? Stormchaser mainly does storm-busting, and even then she tries to break up as little as possible, right? Because you can't just flip the switch at that stage; you make a 5-foot raincloud, whatever, no big. You make a 5-mile raincloud, well, it comes from somewhere. To give this guy a great bucket of rain, that guy's field goes dry. I can massage weather patterns, break up the big, destructive stuff. But...I wouldn't feel right taking money for that. Or hero-ing, if I do that after school. No, I want..." He stops, blushes, and shakes his head. "Sorry, it's silly. Don't worry about it."
