Micah had been gone for several minutes before he absently wandered back over, a tie in each hand. One had a subtle red-and-blue tie, while the other had a brighter single-shade blue tie. He finally looked up when he got near the girls, oblivious to the deep, thoughtful conversations they were having. "I can't quite make up my mind...which one do y'all think would look better on me?" If he was going on a mall-crawl with 3 girls, he was getting some dang fashion advice. -
Hm I know I described Micah's actions IC but did I need to do some rolling here or the like?

Buried deep in his thoughts, Micah found himself incredibly glad that Pan had elected to take up Corinne's offer. He knew it wasn't fair to the other student, but he struggled to get past some of the less-positive impressions she, but more dramatically her alter ego, had wrought. So when his roommate gamely made the offer, he was relieved. Instead he turned to Monica and offered her a smile and his arm. "I can't promise I'm that great, but would you like to dance?"

"Some folks say boring. Others just say it's peaceful. I mean, there's loads of opportunity for adventure for folks who like it. Some people are happy where they're at, though. Some can't, even if they want to. It's a big, complicated, world, and it's not always fair." Micah shrugs. "But it's what we've got. And we make the best of it. Good and bad."

Judex waited until the man at the front was distracted talking to the others. That was when he struck. "Looks can be deceiving, you mangy cur!" His right arm lashed out, the forearm striking the man. However, instead of hitting his throat and eliciting a few moments of nearly choking, it struck the man along his collarbones. Worse (from Judex's point of view), between the angle and the heavy leather the man was wearing, instead of winding him, it seemed to mostly just surprise him. Surprise him enough to shove him backward, but now the element of surprise was lost. Then again, Judex was now just....standing there...having come from nowhere, and now he was visible, in all his burly glory, leering at these men.

Right. I guess Judex is attacking out of stealth, so they're flat-footed... Melee Attack: 13. I think we'll go with that being a regular attack this time, mainly so I can see how this plays out. Toughness Save DC 19, with Takedown Attack.

"My mom likes pretty things, Judy. There's nothing wrong with that. I mean, I guess the point is we're working together, right?" He shrugged. "Second opinions and all that. Anyways, I'll go look in the men's section. I could use a tie. We don't have to hit a bookstore next or whatnot. I'm here just to stretch my legs as much as anything." Micah, seemingly a bit more at ease, ambled over toward the men's section, quickly angling for the ties. While not cheap, they weren't too unreasonably priced, and he did have some discretionary income. -

Micah had been trailing the group, just kind of scoping out the mall. He didn't know Freedom well enough to realize this was an outdoor/strip mall until they were already on-site, not that he really cared. He didn't pay too much attention to where they were going. When they walked into the store, he idly looked around, eyeballing a few more sedate pieces of men's clothing, then all but backing away after seeing the prices. Then he got asked his opinion about a piece of clothing. Now, this wasn't some full-on "modeling session", that would have been more than a bit of a brain-fizzler, but as it was, the agents discretely posted outside might notice the gentle breeze just...stopping...for a few moments. "Um." Sheer eloquence, that boy. "I mean, the color seems okay, I guess? But...Danica, you don't really wear that many things with long sleeves, do you?" His eyes weren't quite "deer in headlights" but Ashley would likely have to fight off a laughing fit at how out-of-his-depth the boy looked right now. -

"Cars that only run on the highest-grade fuel are toys for rich people. Good engineering for non-racing vehicles allows for any legal octane rating without major performance differences." Micah sounded like he was somewhere between quoting a book and speaking from experience. "Just speaks more to the quality of the vehicle." Micah blinked at Judy's suggestions for stores. Did...did he seem like an "outdoors store" sort of guy? Still, the leather-crafting sounded at least mildly interesting, and outdoors-type stuff might have a few interesting bits. "Seems good to me. I'll probably look for an electronics parts store, too." -
As some more rules were explained and Veronica laid out a plan that backed off from "Micah does all the things he's never done before", the weather controller visibly relaxed. At the directions to take Danica to one of the islands, he noddeddecisively. "Sounds like a plan! Hang on, Danica! We'll be there in a flash!" With a burst of light, wings of green-tinted air and lightning manifested behind his back as he tookhold of Danica's shell and lifted off. Micah's arms shook a bit, but he kept a determined look on his face as he moved forward, angling for the final island with a flag, trying to stay wary for "surprises".

Raven managed not to facepalm as the others completely misheard what he said. "She hired the environmental extremist as a distraction. Her reasons are unlikely to be environmental at all." And then the woman herself showed up and even admitted to shooting at Dom. But before he could move on her, she disappeared. For a few moments, his hands just flexed open and closed. His eyes were hidden behind his cowl's lenses, disguising whatever might be going through them. "That woman is a murderer. Many times over. I don't care that she decided this one particular person 'ought' to live. She's taken lives, innocent lives. She's experienced; she's been keeping the Raven at bay for many, many years." In other words, well before his time. "But I refuse to let a killer like that walk. Magic, technology, metahuman powers, I don't care how she did it. All I care about is stopping her from killing again. Who else is going to help me catch this killer?"

I'm a little fuzzy on our action economy at the moment, but I'm going to assume I can step out of the door and to one side, and then still also activate this power from The Fear of The Lord array: Emotion Control 7(Extras: Area [General, Shapeable, 7 5ft cubes]; Flaws: Limited to Fear, Action [Full]) [7PP] (Holy) ("Is Clean And Enduring Forever") Shaping would be the first guy through the door and back out into the hall, but not hitting Doc Thorne, Strix, or the civilians we're protecting. I can say this is held/delayed/triggered by the first person into the room. It's a DC 17 Will save.

When Dom said "Daria", Raven began to curse. "Apăsați-mă și găsiți-mă în Alpi! Yes, let me guess, Daria Stravos? That's one of Dewstar's aliases!" He ran a gauntleted hand over his armored cowl, clearly a slightly nervous gesture. "You say she's helped you out for years? And that she's helped out lots of other sporting events? In particular, racers? She's a trusted figure to you, and probably for all these other athletes. Which just means she knows the best time to strike! Think about it. The worst part is, she's the one who pointed me to the decoy sniper. In retrospect, I should have wondered how she knew...hang on." He stepped slightly away, pressing one side of his head and speaking in low tones for a few moments. When he finished, he nodded and rejoined the others. "Just called the police. They're busy, but they'll try to put out an APB on Daria Stravos, slap a couple of BOLOs down. Probably won't help much, Dewstar's good at evading. I'd say we need to draw her out, but she took her shot and didn't try to follow up. I'm not sure if we can bring her out again..."

"Well, the best schools try to give you hands-on work. And mix in more active stuff. Gym, shop class, that kind of thing. But, truth is...for a lot of folks, school's boring, and then life's kind of boring. Right or wrong, like it or not, the world's got a lot of boring work that has to get done. I think a bit of school is about teaching us patience, but I'm sure many of our classmates would disagree." He half-smiles at the mention of practice. "Yeah. I guess. It's...my head knows I need practice. Part of my heart knows that, too. It's just getting over the hump of fear inside the other part of my heart. It's a process, yeah?"

Micah ducked his head at the thought of playing in front of everyone, but after a moment he raised it, his face thoughtful instead of just bashful. "Maybe...I guess like a little bit less formal thing? I dunno. I don't know a lot of stuff that's good for, like, fancy dances. But I could keep a rhythm going, I guess." At the question of plans, he shrugged. "I dunno...kind of waiting for a number that's got more my style before I try making a fool of myself out on the floor. The music's good, but...I can't really keep with it. Plus, the grub's good." He took a bite to emphasize. His plate seemed to favor starches and meat, but had at least a few more colorful/vegetable-y items. He stopped chewing for a moment, looked again between Pan and Veronica, and swallowed. He furrowed his brow a bit. "Or did you mean was there someone I wanted to ask to dance?" He seemed genuinely unsure. Then he got distracted by Monica walking over. He gave her a friendly smile as she walked up. "Hey Monica. You look nice. Real shiny!" Bless his heart that was an honest compliment through and through, and everyone could tell.

"Look, I get that my power is cool, but did you guys actually listen to what I said?" Micah seems frustrated. "I feel sort-of-confident I could make wind both strong enough and controlled enough to basically 'boost' someone to an island. I've never done it before, but I feel like it has a decent shot. But I don't feel confident saying I could just...just pluck all the flags up! I get it, we don't want to all go to the islands, but I feel like you all aren't actually hearing what I said about what I've practiced and what I feel safe doing!" He ran a hand through his hair. "Look, if you want me to boost people to islands, fine, I can do that, but I'm going to put my food down and say one at a time. I've never done it before and I'm not trying some fancy maneuver where I toss all of you different directions at once. I can carry Danica in her shell, I may not be a power-lifter but I can manage twenty pounds. But if I'm flying I don't want to risk trying to move someone with wind. You need to pick one. I can also provide overwatch or guard duty, but again, not while concentrating on lifting a human being with low-hurricane-force winds."

"I don't know who hired her or if she's doing it for fun, but the person after you is Dewstar. She's good, she's amoral, and she's ruthless. She had a drugged-out environmentalist set up on a rooftop to snipe with a paint gun, which distracted..." He turned to Dom, his look intent. "The woman who signaled the start of the race. What's her name?"
-
"Yeah, I work on cars and stuff because I like it. I want to be a mechanic. Or...maybe a pilot. I'm not here because of super-science. My power is...something different." He trailed off and seemed to just drop the subject. Instead his attention shifted to Danica's questions. "I mean, I guess I could rig up...hand-units? Or build something else for the shell, yeah. I figure if I can get these right, then we can work on other stuff? Maybe we can rig up your Segway to handle rougher ground better, too. Although I guess they just make those, so." His gaze drifted to Zenith. Danica could tell that he wasn't ogling her like an amped-up teenager. Micah was watching her as if she might be some kind of threat, or as if something might go sideways. He was clearly not entirely comfortable with Zenith's presence, now that she seemed intent on tweaking the other students. But Micah stayed put, clearly too stubborn to move.

Micah blinked, shrugged, and rolled with it. "I guess that's not that surprising. Hm. Well, basically, school is how a lot of basic knowledge, skills, and information are passed on to children as they grow. There's all sorts of debates on the hows and particulars, but that's the intent. Classes focus on different subjects. Language and reading, mathematics, history, science, and more. Some people think it's mostly rubbish, but most folks who think that too much didn't do well in the first place. It's not perfect and it can be boring, but there's a lot to learn, too." He looked down at his hands. "My mom's a teacher, so I guess my perspective is different than some people. But I don't think a lot of us appreciate school until we're well clear of it."

Micah winced at Judy's reply in regards to snacks. 'Smooth move, Micah. Real smooth.' He sighed and got in the car, trying not to crowd Danica or Judy. Ashley's gaze felt like blazing searchlights that saw into his very soul, even through the rear-view mirror. He did smile at Judy's "trick". "That really is impressive, Judy. And this thing seems like it'd be great for road trips. Or being stuck in traffic." As Ashley gunned the engine, he closed his eyes for a moment and tilted his head slightly to one side, listening to the sound of the engine. "Mm. You keep this girl in good shape, Ashley. The turbo's smooth. Sounds like you're not running rich, either." -
Judex gave Adam as gentle a smile as he could. "Hello Adam. You may call me Judex." Anything else he may have said was cut off by Strix's warning. The smile fell from his face, and his head fell a bit. The his shoulders started to shake...with laughter. "Ahaha! The wolves howl again! Come my friend!" He slapped Dr. Thorne on the shoulder as he moved to the door. "Go with Mister Owl, children! The sheepdogs shall see to the mongrels at the gates!" Judex grasped the doorknob, turned it, and flung the door open...

Micah had been wavering on attending the dance at all at first. Between his social woes at his old school, just at the time these sorts of things started happening, and his near-constant worries about his powers running amok, it wasn't something he was jumping for joy at. But Pan had been insistent. Micah's roommate had had not one, but two speeches about confidence and adventure and new experiences prepared. At which point the young Roebuck man felt that he was essentially obligated to go. Pan's enthusiasm and joy for life were infectious enough, but the young Oklahoma man had a larger-than-average sense of responsibility, which meant he'd acquiesced. Thankfully, his mother had insisted he brought all of his good clothes, which admittedly wasn't a lot. So there he stood, in a simple black suit; the jacket was a fairly standard "good for business or school dances" sort of cut, plain slacks, a nice white shirt. The tie's red-and-blue shades were dark enough it wasn't too wild, but it was still a surprising bit of color. All in all, it was a simple, classic look. Of course, Micah was still quite nervous. Which meant he kept tugging slightly at his collar, not used to the feeling of a tie. 'Dad wouldn't have fiddled with his tie. He wore them all the time.' That thought sent his mind to a dark place for a moment before he closed his eyes, took a breath, and calmed down. He opened them, the slight green glow already dissipated, and began making his way to the table with the food. There were a few tables around the edges where he could sit and eat. Maybe try to lose himself in the music...if they ever played anything with some life to it.
