Raven is currently using the Analytic Cowl configuration of his Gadgets.

The crowds were milling about, and the cars were being checked and re-checked by their drivers (and any mechanics they might have). It was a slightly cloudy day, just enough to make the weather pleasant... And the nearby rooftops more shadowed. This worked out well for the Raven, who was observing the goings-on with much caution. He'd been hearing about the rally races for a while, but some of his automated alert programs had cross-referenced the killings in the last year and flagged it as a possible location for a crime. When he'd looked over the previous scenarios, he'd had some doubts, but since he wasn't in the middle of a large investigation otherwise, he determined it was worth watching over. Besides, with the Unkindness stashed nearby, he felt like he could handle most any automobile-related issues. So here he perched, having attached and activated his high-powered lenses, his suit's eyes regularly switching between green, red, and white glows as they automatically cycled which sensors were most active.

"Your family is stupid-rich and everyone loves them. Even if you weren't 'Super-Adventures: The Family Edition', you'd probably still be a bunch of rich, famous people who live in a big, beautiful house." Micah's eyes had snapped to Veronica, and his voice had a sharp edge to it that likely shocked everyone there. His nostrils flared for a moment as he took a couple of deep breaths. "It's easy for someone who's never had to scrape by on half-stale bread to talk about 'just' going public, when they're not half a country away from their thoroughly non-powered family. Some of us don't have powers that protect us all the time, the money to substitute for powers, or the resources to do the same. And we haven't seen evidence the government actually gives much of a s...a care...about us. So when we're facing down an option that sounds like it virtually guarantees people we love are going to die..." He suddenly slumped, his eyes closing and a hand running over his face. "I'm sorry. That was probably out of turn. You haven't said anything that deserved that, and I apologize."

Per Chat, I'm pitching Raven into this as well. Stopping assassins and driving in a high-speed race are both up his alley.

Theo just kept smiling at the man in front of him, fighting down the urge to snarl. Fighting down Judex. It was not the time, not yet, not like this. Instead, he laughed and wagged a finger at the gang member in front of him, as if they were both in on some great joke. "Hah! You're a funny guy, you know that? Humor's great, my friend. See, you know what the funniest thing is?" He kept smiling, but the warmth left his eyes as he pushed his glasses up his nose a bit. "The sort of guy who makes that kind of offer isn't the sort of guy I'd turn a person, man or woman, over to. I'll let you take the cheap shot at me, it's no skin off my back. But you're not getting in this church. Have a nice day!" Theo then went to close the door, perhaps with a bit more force than his frame ought to be able to manage...

Group 2 Micah sat back at that question, his left hand flexing a few times as he mulled the concept over. His furrowed brow and thinned lips showed that, while he wasn't in true distress, this was not a comfortable subject. "I know what we're probably supposed to say. Something along the lines of 'that's the risk we take', or maybe 'just put him in solitary'. But...a hero uses a secret identity not just to protect themselves, but their families. There are people who cannot defend themselves against supervillains put at immediate risk in this situation. I mean, I'd hate to see anyone at this school that isn't, I dunno, the Headmistress take on a big-time supervillain. Imagine your grandmother dealing with that!" He closed his eyes. "I think that..if there's some way to block that knowledge, or wipe it, maybe that's the best way. I know what some part of me that I don't listen to says to do in this scenario, but...I don't think that's the way."

Pastor Ward hummed to himself as he picked up and got ready to lock up the church for the night. As much as part of him would love to leave this beautiful building open all the time, it simply wasn't possible. Not in this town, when he was basically the only full-time staff member. So instead he ran what programs he could during the week, helped how he could, and kept big locks on the doors. He'd just locked up the community room and moved into the sanctuary when the shabbily-dressed girl all but sprinted in. Theo stepped up. "Miss, are you okay?" Before she had a chance to answer, someone all but banged on the door. Her fearful reaction told him all he needed to know. Tugging at his jacket in a fruitless attempt to appear a bit more commanding, Theo pointed to the back of the room of worship. "There's a small room over there. No windows. It leads into my office, but don't go there yet; someone might see you through the window. I'll see if I can dissuade them. You're safe here." He gave her a wan smile and turned to head to the door. Once there, he opened it and offered the man a friendly smile. "Well hello sir! Hm, a lost sister you say? Well. I do have a phone. Could we call your mother after we find your sister, to make sure she knows she's headed home? I wouldn't want to leave anyone confused or worried, you know." He was carefully sidestepping acknowledging or denying the girl's presence in his church just yet.

Tagging this. Strix is both in and out of luck; Theo's denomination typically doesn't do much religious iconography....but this is actually an old church that was abandoned and then purchased and "renovated". Maybe an Eastern Orthodox church? Either way, it still mostly has all the stained glass and stuff; Theo's a fan and a huge history and theology buff.

I'll toss in Judex as well. He does tend to only go out at night! Or dusk. Or if there's big trouble. (He probably goes out more than he should, is what I'm saying.)

Group 2 (Full) Micah Micah let the other, more confident students speak up first. He was waiting, listening, thinking. There were a lot of things being said and put forth, and it was hard to wrap his head around all the different nuances of their opinions. Instead, he chose to focus on the core ideas being presented by the assignment and his classmates. "Okay, so we're rolling with the idea that the law presented to us by this is one that requires everyone with a super-ability register with the US government, and that they give much more than just 'hero name and power'. And then what our response is? Hm." He wrote a few questions out; things to perhaps give to the teacher in non-pencil format later? "I think civil disobedience is the best course. A law that requires that level of information be collected, with no alternatives, is....problematic doesn't begin to describe it. This isn't just a Census. It's not even Taxes. This is basically one step away from a Metahuman Draft. There isn't some existential threat like the Axis to give a modicum of acceptability to a draft. And what of the people whose powers aren't like a gun? That are purely defensive? And what of the likes of the Raven, or Daedalus, who have no real powers but can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of the Centurion and Captain Thunder?" He shakes his head. "It does kind of come across as an attempt to control those who ultimately work for the greater good of society. The super-villain types will ignore or flaunt the law either way, and it won't magically make them easy to capture. I would imagine we already keep extensive information on captured and jailed villains. So it comes down on those who fight for everyone who can't. And instead of seeking to make it easier for them to work within the law, this would force them even further outside of it." He frowned. "Might be the best disobedience is to simply hang up your cape and do nothing. Let everyone else deal with the consequences of telling heroes they aren't wanted." Micah had been quiet in many of their other classes; this was clearly a topic he'd thought a lot about. But it probably helped he'd been looking at the center of the table when he talked, instead of making eye contact with anyone at the table.

Micah rolled his pencil around in his hand for a moment before he spoke, glancing at Lulu a few times as he did so before returning his gaze to his mostly-still-empty notebook. "I guess before I made a decision about support or oppose, I'd want to know what 'registration' really means. I...I thought Freedom City already did something like this? Heroes go in and sign some paperwork, as their, their hero-self. Then they can, like, testify in court and stuff? So is this supposed to be...more thorough? Or the same kind of information, just everyone has to file it?" He scratched out questions in his notebook for a moment. Even if the telepath could "hear" what he was thinking, he needed to organize his thoughts. "I'm not a huge fan of requiring something without much consent. But if it was just their hero name, maybe a bit about what they can do, I could sort of understand?"
-
Micah was blushing a bit at all the attention about swimming and beaches and whatnot. After all, there were some rather attractive girls there! But, stiff upper lip or something like that. "I mean...yeah, I guess. I'd kind of like to get settled first, you know? Get into the basic groove of things here. Unless we can do swim lessons as part of, like, gym class?" He rolled another thought around for a moment, then spoke again. "Y'all mentioned a shop with cars to work on and stuff. Is there a class I can get credit with that works in the shop?"

The almost-fight between the glowing girl (Zenith) and the wheelchair-bound girl (Nicole) had Micah's personal anxiety levels ratcheting up. He seemed to be mostly ignored by the participants, which was his only saving grace. He closed his eyes and took a few quiet calming breathes, shutting out the back-and-forth, and trying instead to focus on what the Headmistress was saying. When he opened his eyes, he caught sight of Zenith sending him a "knowing" look, which just dialed his anxiety up more. His slightly-paler-than-usual face just turned slightly to try and focus on the Headmistress, and completely avoid getting in the middle of two squabbling teenage girls.

Micah nods and loses the furrowed brow as Selena explains her juggling. "Oh, okay, that seems less damaging. Hm. Probably wouldn't want to plug it in right away. I wonder..." He shakes his head. All the talk of beaches and swimming and surfing has his head almost spinning. "I...uh, that sounds great, but I don't have a swimsuit. I...never learned how to swim." For a split second the air itself felt warmer, then Micah's lips thinned as he grit his teeth behind them, and everything was normal again. Probably just a trick of the wind and sun.

"I've, uh, never been to the beach, really. Couldn't ever afford it, even before...yeah. It's...it's easier now, for me, I guess. But I haven't really thought of it yet. Is the beach here any good, or do we have to go somewhere else?" The poor boy's barely seen the ocean in his life, after all. He gave Selena a slightly pained sideways glance at the mention of engine-juggling. "I hope they're completely busted ones. That'd be pure heck on the pistons, never mind everything else. Glad there's a shop, though." He gave Corinne a smile and a nod. "Julliard is pretty cool. Congratulations!"

Micah frowns thoughtfully at the name "Asad". "He's, like, a big-time rich business guy, right?" That is a technically true statement. "Hey, I was wondering, is there, like, a shop class or auto class here? Something that would let me work on a car or something? Not, like, full-time-job, just kill a few hours now and again. Keep my hands busy." No mention of his guitar. That's odd.

Micah gave Danica a nod and a soft smile, since she seemed to at least slightly understand what was going on inside his head. She definitely had some experience with Claremont craziness, that was for sure! It was good to know the frequency of these big meetings, though; he wasn't sure he could have handled it if they were monthly or, ugh, weekly! But then the Headmistress walked on stage, and it was...she had a presence. He didn't quiet feel fear, but it was close. There was just an instant sort of respect there. Something about Miss Summers demanded their attention. So, Micah sat back quietly and waited to hear what she had to say. His gaze did catch sight of his rather...energetic...roommate up front. He and Pan had exchanged some basic pleasantries, but the other, eccentric young man had seemed determined to keep exploring campus, while Micah had just been tired. Which was fine with the young Oklahoman; it meant he could put on his nighttime power suppression equipment without awkward questions he didn't have answers for. Yet.

Micah's seat wasn't right next to Tom, but at this point it was close enough that with all the people there, he was kind of noticeable too. He had to work to not look too much at the one-woman-rave a few feet over; the colors and light hurt his eyes a bit and felt like they'd give him a headache. The kind that led to things getting blown around and soaked, in the worst way possible. But it would be impolite to move, so he just didn't stare too long. And then Danica came up, and while he'd opened his mouth to try and actually start a conversation, he closed it, unsure exactly how to jump in. It felt rude just to jump in!

Micah shook of the "met a famous person" daze. He gave Janus a slight smile as he juggled bags until he could shake their hand. "Nice to meet you, Janus. And...uh, thanks for the offer, but maybe later?" He seemed to take the offer well but was definitely a bit overwhelmed. He tilted his head a bit at Selena's gesture, and opted to give her a thumbs-up. "Um. Yeah. Long life and all that. And, hey, nothing bad about knowing more than one language. I'm bilingual, though it was kind of a requirement growing up where I did. And, um, I...can fix cars?" He then regarded Corinne. "Sorry I didn't introduce myself, I'm Micah. It's, uh, nice to meet you."

"No, this is my first year here. It's nice to meet you, Kameron." Micah seemed to gain enough confidence to speak more clearly and calmly. "I'm just...I'm from a fair bit aways, the Midwest. Or South. Depending on how you look at it." When Veronica formally introduced herself, he blinked, then became...not quite awestruck, but along that path. "Wait, Danger as in the Danger family? Wow!"

Micah had settled down from some of his initial nerves about being in Claremont, but it was still a very different place than where he'd ever been before. He didn't mind the idea of an assembly, but the crowd was...a lot. It wasn't the largest he'd been in, not by a long shot, but the sense of humming power in the room was...it was pretty intense. He wasn't necessarily picking it up with his powers, just with his basic sense of the room. He blinked and shook his head, adjusting the bookbag that held the day's books, a few notebooks, and plenty of writing tools. Scanning the crowd, he saw his rather high-energy roommate all but bouncing up and down at the front of the room, next to a pair of girls, one of whom all but screamed "STAY AWAY" without saying anything. So instead he tried to find a place near the back...albeit giving the glowing, multi-colored girl plenty of room by going for the other side of the back quarter or so of seats. Maybe he could just slip in and out of here? Not like he had 5 tons of luggage this time...
-
When more students waved him over, Micah scuffed his feet and started inching forward...and then suddenly gigantic neon arrows appeared in the air to literally guide him to the group. He had to suppress the urge to turn around and walk away. Then he had to suppress the feeling that would result in property damage and lectures from Aunt Janet. Instead he took a deep breath, opened his eyes, and steadily walked toward the group, even as some of them split off to follow a girl on a Segway. He stopped a few feet away from the group, awkwardly shuffling and managing his bags. "Um. Hi. My name's Micah."

Micah just kind of shyly smiled and nodded his head as Pan waved at him. 'Just don't make eye contact and maybe the rest won't not-' And then Janus tried to wave him over, and Micah just froze. He stood there, trying to figure out what to do. Part of him wanted to say hello, but part of him just wanted to haul his stuff inside and find his room and find a nook and just play and breath. So he froze, and he barely kept from pivoting his head around wildly.
