  1. Sorry to hear that, DS. Just take care of yourself, we'll be here when things level off for you.
  2. The scraggly bearded man just laughs. It's...mostly sane-sounding. "That was quite the show! My my my, well at least we all know the Serpent truly is in the Garden now..." He shakes his head and offers a hand to shake to anyone present, his smile staying whether the hand is shaken or not. "You can call me Judex. Just a simple man trying to be a sheepdog among the lambs and the wolves. Truly a pleasure to meet the rest of you." He glances toward the sirens, frowning. "I'm afraid that might be an insult to pigs everywhere, Lady Horus. I think these siblings have the right idea..." He starts to turn to leave as well.

  4. Thoughtspeed whirled as Glamazon landed, visibly wincing at the car damage. He was upset, but not that upset. He turned back to the detectives and nodded, his helmet unfolding even as he spoke. "Yeah. I'll catch up with her and get her back with my...with the others. Drive safe, detectives." His voice seemed concerned, not sarcastic. Considering he'd described a sniper and an ambush scenario, it wasn't that unfounded. He gave a jaunty salute, and then he was blurring through the streets, racing to catch up with the leaping Glamazon. His mental voice knocked on the proverbial door of her mind as he ran. --Glamazon! Thaelia! It's Thoughtspeed! Will! Please, listen, you're ticked, so am I, but you need to follow me! My parents and I, we found a lead, but we got shot at finding it! Follow me, please, and try not to crush any more cars?--
  5. Suddenly, a laugh cut into the back-and-forth. It...wasn't a nice laugh. "Naw man, see, ain't no ladies or womenfolk 'round these parts gonna be concubines or maidservants." Judex's hands blurred, slapping into the Scion of Set several times before suddenly snaking around and putting the serpentine villain in a rear naked choke. The strange...hero's...grin shone like pearls out from that bushy beard of his as he stage-whispered to the Scion. "Way I see you, you keep talkin' like that, I might have to make me a new pair of snakeskin boots." He paused, glancing at the Scion again. "Maybe a vest, too."
  6. Standard Action: Melee Attack: 25. DC 19 Toughness Save. Free Action: Grapple Attempt: 20. Hrm. Hero Point Reroll: 15, which becomes 25. Sheesh. Should currently have 2 Hero Points left (began with 4, spent 2).
  7. Thoughtspeed was nervous. Now, this wasn't that unfamiliar of a situation for him, but in this case, it wasn't just "asking a girl on a date" nervous, or "I didn't get a great grade and now I'm telling my parents" nervous. Not even the nerves he had when taking on supervillainy; those nerves came and went in mere moments, even for a speedster. No, here he was waiting for a King to show up, dressed in his hero costume, to...do what, exactly? He pretty clearly wasn't going to be providing security; the dozens of big bury Atlanteans put paid to that idea, and if Glamazon's dad was half as fierce as she was, well, he'd hat to be the mugger that ran into him. Nope, he was just here to hobnob. The advice from his parents had been a bit...all over the place, so he was determined to just try and stay under the radar. In a black costume with glowing green highlights. Yeah.
  8. Corbin was standing over to one side, leaning against the wall, when Mark voiced what was happening. Despite knowing, on the one hand, that there was a baby coming, it was still a bit of a shock to hear of a wedding so soon. "Ah. Well! Congratulations!" He stepped forward and gave Mark a very light slap on the back. It was guaranteed to not launch him through a wall or anything! "If I'd known about all of this I'd have gotten some bubblegum cigars! Hm, February, eh? Do we still get to throw you a bachelor party?"
  9. Corbin lounged on a comfortable chair conjured by his own power as he gave Nina a soft smile and a raised eyebrow. "I think you and I both know who belongs to whom in mine and Quo-Dis's relationship, Nina." He gives a slightly melodramatic glance toward the kitchen and then back to Nina. He was idly thumbing through one of the history books, one showing a collection of artifacts found representing thousands of years of history. "But no, she won't make it today. She was planning to come, but there was some big fight out West that her team needed her to show up for. She pouted a bit but I'm sure she's throwing punches now with the best of them. She sends her regards and regrets about missing." He had kept his speculation about just why Nina seemed so worn out and prone to sickness, and what Quo-Dis might blurt out in this moment, to himself. He restrained from trying to evaluate how far along she looked. For now, at least. Well, he'd given it one or two tries but he was terrible at judging these things. Even with decades of extra experience under his belt he was still terrible, just terrible at it. Though now that he thought about it, Mark and Nina on that war-torn Earth had had a young girl by this point...
  10. Judex could use another chance to defend his hometown of Bedlam City. Sun Walker would be honored to assist in Emerald City's defense.
  11. Judex saw this "Scion" send his minions into City Hall on a mission of carnage. It was only thanks to Lady Horus's quick action that he didn't charge in himself. But then he saw the villain blast away a young woman who'd shown up to help, and his anger was truly struck. With a growl that turned into a near-roar, he charged at the Scion. At the last moment, he came into a slide like a baseball player, before he shoved up off the ground and delivered a discus clothesline to the Scion's chest. For several long moments he tried to find purchase to begin wrestling in earnest with the fiend, but alas he couldn't quite manage a good hold. The Scion of Set was too slippery this moment. "Mighty impolite of you to come out here like this, stir up this kind of trouble. Mighty impolite indeed."
  12. Right then... Move Action: Get up next to the Scion of Set! Standard Action: Melee Attack: 13. I'm guessing that doesn't hit, so, Hero Point Reroll. 14, which becomes 24 thanks to the reroll. DC 19 Toughness Save. Free Action: Initiate a Grapple: 17. Well that probably won't grapple him but we'll see. Ugh.
  13. Oh, I actually like that idea! And maybe it could end up all being a "test" by Sun Wukong!
  14. Fair enough, and I'm willing to work in the angle, I just don't have the points for it, and haven't yet written a story around him getting a staff or the like. I also generally envision that Sun Wukong still has his own artifacts and powers.
  15. Well, the main problem is that Sun Walker has no staff at this time. He fights with only his fists and feet and tail!
  16. I would definitely like to get Sun Walker involved in something a bit meatier, if for no other reason than to try and stretch myself a bit.
  17. There was a ring of the doorbell not long after Joe arrived. When answered, it would reveal Corbin standing there, dressed in jeans and a Kansas City Chiefs t-shirt, despite the cold. His broad shoulders supported two large coolers that seemed to steam in the cool January air, and he smiled easily as he was let in. "Hey hey folks! Brought some kebabs. Wasn't sure how hungry we'd be so I made plenty. Beef, chicken, and veggies, and plenty of each!" When opened, both coolers would reveal stacks of foil-wrapped kebabs, still quite warm from being cooked. Probably enough to feed twice the number of people present. Then again, Corbin was one of those people, so food estimates could be hard sometimes. Folks occasionally wondered where he put it all.
  18. Thoughtspeed continued to run patience exercises in his head. "The address where the jerks are is-"*insert building location here*"-And we're still trying to figure out where my friend is. He's not just getting punched or burned, they're..." He stops for a moment, and looks almost ill for just a few moments before he continued. "It felt like they were trying to wipe him out. Not, like, kill him. Wipe out his...his mind. His personality. His identity. Please. We have to keep moving."
  19. If you do this in Emerald Cities, I'd like to toss Sun Walker into the mix.
  20. Judex Init: 6. Look he's a big guy who ran the whole way just give him a second to catch his breath.
  21. Thoughtspeed stopped, closed his eyes, breathed deeply, and counted to 10 15 times (in a few seconds) before speaking again, more calmly, and slowly. "My friend is being held hostage by someone. Or some group. They're torturing him. We detected his...basically his cry for help. And we've gotten a few more impressions, and it's bad. We were trying to follow up on a lead at some office, when a jerk with a big gun shot at us. So we ran over and punched all his friends out. And then I sworded him into submission. He's secure, but you guys probably want to, like, arrest him or something. Preferably sooner, so we can go rescue my friend before he's dead or a zombie or something."
  22. Pastor Theo tended to stay in his modest home on Tuesdays; he found that people swinging by for prayer or counseling tended to surge on Mondays, and swing back up from Wednesday onward, but Tuesdays were typically dead. It gave him a chance to work on his sermons. And also not dress up. The joys of wearing...about 4 layers, what with his furnace barely working. Again. He kept the television on in the background, ostensibly to listen for news that might need a...firmer hand...than the bookish young pastor normally presented, but typically it was just for background noise. So when it started blaring about a meteor strike and a super-brawl starting up at City Hall, he was on his feet in moments, but also barely avoided disaster with his notebook, Bible, and laptop, somewhat clumsily depositing them all on his slightly rickety desk before moving in front of the screen. His mouth quickly went into a thin, firm line before he reached down and turned it off. Less than a minute later, Judex was speeding down the potholed streets of Bedlam. It didn't take him more than a couple of minutes to run down Blaed Avenue and then loop up to the center of Downtown. He skidded to a halt in a three-point stance at the far end of the street from the super-fight going on. For the moment he tried to just take stock of the situation, sizing up not just the brawlers, but the people nearby that might be in trouble.
  23. Judex is up for this. Could be fun to get in a big super-brawl, if nothing else!
