Nevermore's eyes widened behind his mask. His free hand blurred down and tried to yank her mask away. "Ouroboros! Her mouth!" He scrambled to try and open her mouth, get the mask away, keep her from choking or drowning or poisoning herself. "This wasn't necessary! We won't hurt you any more you just need to stop fighting back!" There's a strangely desperate edge to his voice. His body is slightly tense, but not in the right ways...

Nevermore pauses for several moments, seeming to consider Weaver's offer. Finally, he leaned down and all but whispered in her ear. "No deal." Suddenly, he snapped into motion, quick as a viper. One hand kept Weaver in her hog-tied stance, somehow maintaining an iron grip with just one hand. One of his legs flashed out first, trying to strike the side of the other thief's knee, producing pain and shaking his stance. Another kick went high, for the man's midsection. A punch lashed out at the kneecap. Combined, it might not take the man completely out of the fight, but it ought to at least slow and wind him. All way keeping Weaver helpless on the floor. "Nice save on his teleport, Ouroboros."

Right then. Free Action: Maintain Grapple: 32. Standard Action: Melee Attack vs Fancy Thief: 24. DC 23 Toughness Save. Move Action: Look awesome.
-
Is this thief within melee range of Nevermore? With Improved Grapple, he's got a free hand, so I figure he could punch or kick at the guy, if you say he's within range.

ic The Ben Hur Invitational: Self Preservation Society (IC)
KnightDisciple replied to Quinn's topic in City Center
The alarms had signaled law enforcement quickly enough, and all things considered it shouldn't be a surprise that well-informed crime fighters were out to stop these thieves almost before they started. Midnight was the first on the scene, but he wasn't the last. A radio transmission came through, on a frequency that indicated it was definitely not the police. If Midnight took the "call", he'd hear another gruff voice on the other side. "Moving up behind and to the right a bit. Pushing my bike near to max; do we want to try and herd them, or just stalk them?" It was Nevermore, roaring up the road on that bike of his, all elegant, brutal functionality. The young hero's cape flared in the wind generated by his movement, somehow never snagging on anything along the way. He was clearly pushing said bike hard, but keeping pace. At least for now. -

Thoughtspeed had been out for a run that night. He had been taking more of those, recently, between having graduated high school, and what happened with his grandfather. Then he happened by an electronics store with the news on, zipped in to figure out where they were at, and zipped back out, pushing himself to the limit to get over there quickly. It didn't really take him that long; they'd gotten some distance, but compared to him, those cars moved in slow-motion. The trick, of course, was going to be containing the situation without risking lives, or excessive property damage. He was invisible at the moment, the action being almost instinctive. He was maintaining pace with the cars, just about 50 yards back for the moment. At this point he was hoping another hero or two showed up. He was worried about what would happen if he tried to take on all 3 at once.

Yeah. Won't speak for HGM about the cops, but to actually see/detect Nevermore I'd prefer a roll be made (even if his Stealth was not the greatest).

Will chuckled at the remark. "I do learn a few things." When his father joined the hug, Will held on all the tighter. He enjoyed this moment of just being family. So often, for all that the Clines loved each other, there was so much "extra" going on thanks to their super-selves that it didn't feel as...real...as this moment. Eventually the moment ended, but with 3 speedsters in the mix, it had lasted longer than one might think. Will looked thoughtfully at his father and grandmother. "So what happens now?"

Notice Check vs. Grimm: 28. Really good, but not good enough. To answer what you'd asked in Chat that I never got a chance to answer, Heritage, here is Nevermore's Reputation entry, and his suit is currently based off of the Arkham Asylum Batsuit. Here's the suit description from his sheet:
-
BIRDMOBILE'd by Fox This is to be added to Nevermore's sheet. Between the partially-tapped Veteran Award (split between CT and Nevermore, currently) and the un-tapped Vet Reward I've got, I can cover this. Just add it on, no need to subtract anything else. Should give him another 19 ranks of the Equipment Feat. The Unkindness (Vehicle; "Car") [95EP]
-
Correct. His Gadget pool isn't deep enough yet.

KnightDisciple's Character Scratchpad
KnightDisciple replied to KnightDisciple's topic in Character Building
I'm bringing this in a bit earlier than I'd originally thought, but with his ascension to Raven III being less than a year away, and Callie Summers pretty explicitly starting to step back some, it seems fine to bring this in. Doing the math, I have 2 Vet Awards I could spend for EP; this is a total of 30 PP, or 150 EP. I've spent 3PP of this Reward, or 15EP, on Cobalt Templar. That leaves 27 PP, or 135 EP, for Nevermore. The Rookery is 23 EP, which means I have a maximum of 112 EP for The Unkindness. Current build has 95EP used, which is 19 ranks of the Equipment Feat. The 23 EP of the Rookery is another 5 ranks, for 24 ranks of Equipment on Nevermore, 3 on Cobalt Templar, and 3 free (yay!). Or I could just use the 2 EP not used by the Rookery (of the possible 25) and those 3 free ranks (15EP), and just have the Talon as well. ...Imma do that. The Unkindness (Vehicle; "Car") [95EP] -
For what it's worth, Heritage, with that check you could actually see Nevermore. He's good but my roll was pretty low, and he's not using a Concealment power or the like. I'd be fine with her spotting him, since he's not actually invisible or anything.
-
I will endeavor to make sure I have a build for the Unkindness up in the Edit thread, so that if nothing else we can dramatically wreck the Talon and replace it with The Unkindness.
-
Going to say no Damage (for now).

"I tend to work best when in close." It's like he literally doesn't understand the innuendo in what he says. At this point it seems possible to Weaver that he really doesn't grasp innuendo, at least not as well as the rest of the people present. But then Ouroboros managed to snag the orb and pull it to himself. With the orb out of The Weaver's hand, Nevermore suddenly exploded into movement. His arms and legs moved rapidly but purposefully, and by the end of it Weaver found herself somehow maneuvered such that she was effectively hogtied, with her own limbs placed such that they keep each other in place, helped by one of his armored hands holding things in place. He looked back at Ouroboros and spoke calmly. "Wasn't trying to dance. Not great at dancing." But then he leans down and speaks quietly to the armored woman. "I'm listening. No games."

Oh. Huh. I somehow read both of your IC posts as just saying that his grapnel or whatnot landed a hit but it was still in her hands. If she's totally disarmed already then just ignore that stuff, and she can save against my Unarmed and/or Martial Arts damage. Then again at this point I think she's Bound and Helpless....
-
Any possibility the 2nd thread could include Nevermore? Really wanting to "stretch his legs" when it comes to vehicular action.

Nevermore had been watching the hotel for over half an hour, taking note of who was coming and going, how thick the media and police presence was, and more. He wished it had thinned out already but that seemed unlikely to happen soon. So instead he opted to reposition a bit before firing a grapnel line from his current roost to the balcony of the room in question. Or more accurately, to a good waypoint between. His cape flared, but somehow no one noticed. It took him three swings to arrive at the balcony, but no one made a ruckus about him. Once on the balcony, he took a moment to pull a few cowl attachments out and slide them into place near his lenses, before pulling out a high-end palm-sized computer and slotting it onto his left gauntlet. His hands deftly pulled a few more basic investigative tools from his belt, and he slipped into the room unnoticed by anyone else. For now, he stuck to the darker corners of the space, letting the police do their work for the most part, and letting the staff-wielding heroine near the door draw most of the attention. He flicked the extra lenses he'd attached onto and off of his eyes over the course of the next couple of minutes, gently poking and shifting the occasional bit of evidence or scenery to try and get a feel for where everything was located, how it all went down, and so on. The palmtop was used to attempt to gain access to the local camera network; with how heavy its coverage was, he felt sure it would have picked up someone coming even near this room, or coming at an odd hour, that might help provide a clue.
-
Nevermore is going to configure his Gadgets to Detective Visor and Palmtop Computer. He is then going to move to the balcony and slip inside. Super Senses 5 (Analytical Extended Visual Senses [100 foot increments]; Microscopic Vision 1 [Dust-Sized Objects]; Ultravision) [5PP] ("Detective Visor") Datalink 3 (Radio; 1,000 feet; Feats: Subtle) [4PP] ("Palmtop Computer"] Once inside, he'll make a Computers Check (23) to access the security camera network and begin trying to pull up recent videos along any and all paths to the room, as well as the balcony if possible. Then he will begin Investigating (33) the crime scene, using a combination of his wide range of Vision modes as well as the forensic tools he always has on hand.

Right, so. Free Action: Maintain Grapple: 34. Standard Action: Attempt to Disarm (since I'm in a grapple I'm assuming the Melee Attack part auto-succeeds?): 15.That's vs. her strength. I'll wait on an IC post until we're sure whether she ends up just Bound/Helpless thanks to the 2nd Grapple Check (and thus drops the item and thus lets Ourborous yoink it), or if that Disarm check matters.

I'll join in my condolences, Heritage. And as with the others, not sure what else I can offer right now.
