Thoughtspeed is a Speedster, so he could probably fit in somewhere. ...There's a part of me that's tempted to try and formally stat out the Unkindness for Nevermore. It still counts as a car, dang it!

Nevermore's eyes narrowed behind his lenses as Weaver tried to grab another artifact. Part of him wondered why these were't under 15 layers of security and a half-mile of rock, but such was the world of superheroes. Maybe these were all fakes of the real deals back in the Rookery, anyways. He releases his grapnel and kicks off from his perch, his cape briefly flaring as he glided the short distance between himself and Weaver. He landed in a crouch, and even as he stood up he lunged for her. The holographic ravens experienced a slight "lag", manifested by them not swarming around him right as he made the attack. instead, even as his arms began to wrap around Weaver again, they swirled around before landing on various cases and ledges around them. They ended up with her free hand in a hammerlock, the hand and arm holding the artifact still nominally free. His other arm, though, had circled in front of the shoulder of said arm, limiting its range of motion. His body was turned a bit to one side, so that one of his legs could step in front of one of hers and somewhat wrap around and lock it down. It wasn't a completely unbreakable hold, but it would keep her from easily moving. "Let go of the artifact and stand down." His voice was suddenly soft enough only she could hear it, practically a whisper in the midst of all the noise, and with almost none of the threatening growl that seemed typical for the nighttime hero. "Please."

Technically I believe I'm at 2HP between a Reroll, then the buy-off of Extra Effort, then add 1 from this. Move Action: Get next to Weaver. Standard Action: Melee Attack to initiate Grapple: 20. Eeeehh. HP Reroll: 14, which becomes 24. Geeze. Grapple Check: 33.

FYI @HG Morrison , I can post IC but I wasn't sure if you were going to let me know how successful or not the above checks were.

"Some heroes, Gramma. Some are better than that. Not many, but some." He let his grandmother vent her pain and confusion before stepping forward and giving her another hug. "You got here the same way you get anywhere, Gramma. The same way Dad gets places. The same way I get places." He smiles at his grandmother; their family was unusual, but it was family. "One step at a time."

Yeah. So between the payoff and the HP Reroll, he'll be at 1HP his next turn.

"Did so before we came down here." Nevermore is evaluating the wall in front of him, even as his hands are once more removing, storing, pulling out, attaching, and rearranging modular tech components on his suit and belt/harness. The last item clicks into place, and Nevermore raises one arm in the direction Weaver had gone to. "I think I can handle her, now." With those not entirely encouraging words, he zipped into the air. Just as he passed through the wall, the air around him came alive with what seemed to be an unkindness of ravens, flapping and cawing and all aimed square at the girl in the spy suit. Nevermore landed on a support beam next to where she "stood" on the ceiling, crouched there for a moment even as the ravens swirled and cawed all around him. In that moment, in the shadowy darkness up there, surrounded by those birds, he was something more and less than human, his voice a grinding gravel-pit of sound, at least for a few moments. "You didn't leave me a choice." And then his left leg lashes out in a precise kick, aimed directly at her sternum.

Right, so, Daze should be gone. 3 HP left. Standard Action: Rearrange Gadget. Now creating Holographic Raven Swarm: Fear 10 (Flaw: Limited [One Emotion]: Fear) 10PP, DC 20 Will Save. Move Action: Grapnel up next to Weaver. Extra Effort: Standard Action: Melee Attack: Power Attack for +2 Damage -2 Attack: 12. Forget that, HP Reroll: 17, which becomes 27 thanks to the reroll. So a DC 20 Will Save vs Emotion Control Fear, and DC 25 Toughness Save vs Damage.

Cobalt Templar had taken the teleport in calm stride, years of practice being on that "ride" helping him. When they met the local soldiers, he'd stayed back and stayed quiet, just giving them respectful nods, otherwise staying with the group. When Monsoon mentioned "tight spaces", he shrugged noncommittally. "I've got no personal problems with small spaces other than getting into them, but I suppose Phalanx here has a similar problem. Our delicate builds can be a handicap sometimes." He smirked a bit at his own joke, though didn't expect much response. He seemed unconcerned with the heat of the area, still going about in his full-body full-armor costume. Today was not a day for gimmick-laden outfits, at least not before a fight (it was practically a requirement he use some of his artistic streak on his constructs in a fight).

Alek just sighed and shook his head at the Star Wars reference. Couldn't be helped. "I got the snoring beaten out of me years ago." Well isn't he a ball of joy and sunshine. "Leads, a few, yeah. Not as much as I wanted. But we want to try and go for the more isolated market areas. There's 3 stalls, and they're all kind of tucked away. Two of them sell clothes, while the last one sells music. Couldn't find out what their password is, though. But those 3 stalls? That's how folks get led to the auction."

Nevermore was honestly out of his element. Part of him recognized, in a very detached and academic way, perhaps what sorts of hints this girl was dropping, and what the odd feelings he was experiencing perhaps were. But there's a world of difference between vague academic knowledge, and genuine experience. Which was why his focus had slipped, and he was practically entranced. His brain was grinding away at the "problem", struggling to understand what was going on, why she was acting this way. He had pretty much never gotten this sort of attention directly; for all that his athletic build and foreign appearance drew eyes, his focused, almost stern demeanor, combined with his rather notable friendliness with the Headmistress of the Academy, made him a figure rarely approached by random teens. Combine this confusion with his slight shock and confusion at her breaking his rather firm grapple so suddenly, and he ended up just standing there, gawking like a fool.

Tagging, some rolls incoming. IC post pending how the rolls play out. EDIT: Roll time! I'm shooting for the classic "Batman suddenly appears in the middle of the crime scene" thing. Stealth: 18; to avoid being seen on approach (this is him up on nearby rooftops, etc.) Notice: 27; to spot the best way in with minimum chance of running into every officer on the way He's going to activate his Infiltration Gear; lets him slip in unseen, and Trackless should reduce his contamination of the crime scene! Stealth: 15; he has full Visual Concealment, for whatever that's worth. We'll say he went up the side of the building as much as possible. Notice: 27; just to see what's going on in general on the scene. So basically NEVERMORE SEES ALL, but probably someone spots or hears him in return? I'll hold off on Search or Investigate for now, this is about dramatic setup.

Will just patted his grandmother's arm. He himself had been more than a bit shocked at the whole thing, but hadn't stumbled outwardly. He didn't meet her gaze, he just looked out over the grounds for a few moments before speaking. "I...Grandma, I barely knew him. I've known who he is, but I barely ever saw him. I don't know if I'd say I got to know him much until these last few months. He's just not...been there, you know?. I've known you all my life. You're my Grandma. You've been there. Maybe not in the same way as some Grandmas, but that just makes you more awesome. Who else learns sword-fighting from their grandmother?" He chuckled a bit, but soured as he pondered how Bolt had acted. "Well, that guy was being a total-" and there's another word Paige probably wishes he didn't know"-, and that's even as a hero. I know some pretty decent heroes, younger and older. That guy's not one of 'em. He's...oh, how did I hear you say it? Oh, right. He's 'too big for his britches'. Yeah. That. I don't care if he had to "cover all the angles" or whatever, but he was a jerk."

With the Thief being Stunned and me being Dazed, wouldn't it go back to the Weaver?

Alek adjusted the sunglasses on his nose, frowning a bit. "Bright. Why are we out here, at this time, again?" The young hero, currently fairly incognito between not being in costume, and his current outfit hitting a sweet spot of "don't pay attention to me". The fact that he wasn't really "white" helped as well; he was pretty clearly not from the area, but stuck out less than other tourist-types might have. He'd gotten some leads with his research, but not enough, not yet. "Also, next time, we're getting a bigger suite. You snore." It was clear that the unfamiliar environment and ongoing investigation had him riled up. Still, his words held no venom; he was being teasing. It's just that Alek was bad at this sort of thing.

Will was, of course, first through the door. Despite how protective his parents were of him, he was faster than his father, and he was more able to attack and defend on the fly. At least, against more "traditional" attacks he was. And even as his legs hit the cords, he thought to himself how obvious this sort of trap would be. Nothing for it. He felt himself hit the cords, and instead of going stiff or fighting the fall, he worked with it. His body relaxed just long enough to start the roll forward. Then he tucked himself in so he could just keep rolling with it. After a moment of flipping through the air, he made a three-point landing as he skidded across the floor, ending up in a crouch at the ready for whatever came next.

guide gab Freedom League lineup and role
KnightDisciple replied to Ari's topic in The Lighthouse: Catchphrase!
Right, so. What: A thread for the new PC Freedom League to show their stuff, and be their first adventure as the Freedom League! Who: The PCs on the League. (This is, I believe, in the last bits of being ironed out.) Where: Start in Freedom Hall, move to somwhere around Cooper County, Missouri. Why: Because Bowman gets a distress call from Maverick (leader of the Barnstormers). A high-level threat/criminal has broken out of the new super-prison, and none of the Barnstormers are free (except Maverick, and even he isn't that lucky). The Freedom League is needed to stop him/her! When: The day after a big private party where Captain Thunder's retirement is celebrated, along with the induction of the new League members. It's the day they're at Freedom Hall, going through boring procedural stuff. And the day after is the public ceremonies. This means the thread itself can focus on the FL and their adventure, but there's a sense of context. Not trying to dictate, but that's my thoughts on how to tackle this. -

I have some thoughts on this that I'll try to organize for when I can post more easily/substantially tonight. I like the direction we are heading in at this point. -
Just so I'm clear about this, TA, your latest IC post is for me failing the Reflex, but since I used an HP to succeed at the Acrobatics check, I can write that success/recovery in-character, yes?

guide gab Freedom League lineup and role
KnightDisciple replied to Ari's topic in The Lighthouse: Catchphrase!
Okay, I'm going to try and simplify and distill things down some. 1.) We've gotten a good handle on what to do with existing Freedom League NPCs; I'd say Gizmo's had some good suggestions, let's consider that matter handled. 2.) The principle of Freedom League membership doesn't require a set power level. 3.) A question is going around to FLAux members as to whether they want to "upgrade" their membership (yay we're going to First Class instead of Coach!). These folks will be the initial Main Roster. 4.) We shouldn't worry about Team USA, FL2nd, FLSHADOW, FLXXXTREEEEMEME, or whatever right now. Just the single, "central", main roster. Which is, as stated above, being discussed in a PM thread. Honestly we've made some good strides. Once we get answers from players about yes/no being Freedom League, we can move from there. -
Using Online Research for Gather Information: 18. Gonna toss in an Investigate, too: 15.
-
Sense Motive is a bit higher: 19. Let's see what happens.
-
Acrobatics Roll: 23. Which is not enough! HP Reroll: 20, which becomes 30 for the reroll (roll is a 5, add 10).
