Hm. Yeah. I can always properly retire someone later on. Thank you for the assistance.

I think I figured out what my Slot usage *was*. The question is if I want to reorganize things any, maybe use some Rewards to free up PP on Gabriel and CT to bump things a bit, or dump multiple Equipment Rewards all on Damien Jean-Paul Valley Nevermore. As far as the general vision... -He uses at least some gadgets, but much more of a "supplemental" role. The biggest "punch" I see them being is Ravenrangs, maybe some sort of "electro-shock gauntlet", that sort of thing. If I really want to play up his inspiration, maybe some sort of high-tech sword that can be less-than-lethal if he wants. --He would not invent the gadgets, though; they'd be acquired by other means. He would maybe have enough skill to repair them, though. -He's certainly going to be more martial-arts focused in fights; most of his gadgets would be for things like "crime scene scanner", "hacker tools", etc. -His suit should normally be somewhere along the lines of the Arkham Knight suit; armored but flexible, and fundamentally not powered armor. --I might make use of our rule that allows "alternate builds" and have an "Armored Raven". Just in case one of the Paragons goes rogue, you understand. Possibly with Impervium Plating and Daka Crystal Wave Emitters or some such. -He makes regular use of the Rookery (maybe justifying a Gadget that lets him Hack by way of saying "uplink to the Rookery computers), as well as his Vehicles. To make a slightly trope-y summation: He's a Ninja Detective Vigilante Cowl with a Big Bike, Big Car-Tank-Thing, and Big Plane-Copter-Jet-Airship-Thing, stored in his Awesome Cave. That looks about right, though now that I think about it maybe some of that Equipment Reward is spent elsewhere, I'll have to check. I might at least start off with all characters nominally "back", and just focus on a couple for now. I do appreciate the help so far, guys. If nothing else it gives me an idea of what I have to work with.

Let's see... I'll worry about who's active first later.... Gabriel is my first character, and isn't using any Rewards. So he's just 250 of 250, 123/150 to Impervium. Cobalt Templar would, I guess, be my 2nd "basic" slot (the PL7/105 slot). He has no Rewards spent on him. He's at 225PP, having thus earned 120PP himself. Thoughtspeed was my 3rd Basic Slot, the 2nd PL10 slot. No Rewards spent. He's at 177, having earned 27pp. Nevermore was made with my Gold Reward Slot. He was made at...I think 120PP, because he's earned 23PP and is at a total of 143PP right now. He has 4 ranks of the Equipment feat paid for by my Bronze Award. Sun Walker...I guess we could say he was made with my Silver Reward? Really, I'd say it's a bit interchangeable, but let's go with that. He has no additional rewards spend on him. He's at 154PP, having earned 4PP. So that would leave me...my Platinum Reward and my Maxed Out Character award, yes?

-So, I've seen the Member Progress Reference section. I'm guessing once I'm really active again we'll list me there? (I'm going to try and hunt down where the actual Reward Levels themselves are listed to refresh myself.) -Someone made a comment that kind of gave me the impression that my characters could be rebuilt to a higher PL or at least a higher PP count, but that might be wrong... -As far as rebuilds, it looks like I've got 17PP unspent on Thoughtspeed right now. He's currently an Attack and Defense shifted PL 8 built with a PL11's power point pool (say that 5 times fast). I guess I could just up the numbers but I'm open to suggestions and thoughts on how to streamline what he does, at least. -Nevermore, on the other hand, has the "issue" that I ultimately want him to be Not!Batman. But the limits of the system mean that's not actually possible. I need to go back and think over what I want him to specialize in (and definitely not do so in a way that feels like it copies Midnight/Trevor Hunter too much). But advice on how to help him shine in a few areas but not be a total dum-dum in others (that are within the "unpowered crime-fighting detective shadowy scary vigilante" bailiwick, that is) is always welcome.

So, as stated elsewhere, I'm working on coming back to the forums/the game (IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GAME....AND HOW YOU PLAY IT!!!!). And my top priorities are Thoughtspeed (sheet here) and Nevermore (sheet here). But complicating matters is the news that we've shifted how rewards are done? And now the highest reward is applied to all characters, if desired? I'm still a bit fuzzy on how it works...Gabriel is my highest-reward/"level" character. I believe he was at Gold or Platinum when I went inactive (sheet says progress to Impervium...). So I'm not sure what that means for TS and NM? I guess this thread has 2 purposes. 1.) Help me understand how the Reward Level interacts with these 2 characters in particular, especially in light of me likely not bringing Gabriel back for a bit yet (not saying he's permanently retired, though). 2.) Help/insights/suggestions on breathing a bit of life into both sheets (without completely remaking them). Both characters have been given some time to go off and train and grow and such. So I've got room for some work there. Thoughtspeed is probably okay mostly as-is, I'm sure when I get to actually looking at him I'll tweak him, but still. Nevermore, though, is a bit more complicated. I've got a vague idea of what to get him to eventually. I know what he drives now, will drive, will fly, and where he does/will take roost. Ultimately, this guy will be Raven 3/4 (depending on how we count Geckoman!Raven. But he's not there yet, and I want to preserve that while maybe giving him a bit more to work with. I'm not trying to make other people do all the work (obviously the fluffy stuff is done, and any "but where has he been!" can be answered easily enough, especially as with Nevermore it could just be said "watching. waiting. planning." without too much irony). As a note, Thoughtspeed's going to be graduating this May, but Nevermore won't graduate until next year.

So, rather than make a whole thread I'll just put this here, especially since it's not exactly a secret or anything... I've been gone a while (the better part of a year), but I'm back now (I guess as much as I was gone vs. back?). At the moment I'm just kind of trying to catch up and figure out where things stand for the moment. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to try and work with Refs and such to figure out where things stand character-reward-wise (as I understand it that system has been revised), reactivating a couple of characters (at least), and getting back in the flow of things. My post rate will probably still be a bit patchy and erratic. As for what's kept me away...for now I'm not really comfortable with talking much about it in general. For those curious/concerned, you can PM me, and I'll speak one-on-one as I'm comfortable. But seriously, this place is great, you're all great, and I've really missed being around.

Doing my best to keep up but right now my only device I can post on is a smartphone. Which is not conducive to heavy posting. The new forum software isn't necessarily helping either.

Nevermore just took two solid steps forward from his previous hiding spot. His boots, which until moments ago had made no more than the barest whisper of sound, thumped resolutely on the fine hardwood floor of the room. His cape, previously a silent shadow draped over his body, gave a subtle but dramatic "swoosh" as it glided over his armored form. He was hiding no longer, now revealed fully in the light. He stopped, letting the cape settle around his form again, obscuring it from sight. He spoke, his voice still that harsh sound that came naturally to these cowled champions of Justice. "What business have you with the Raven?"

A brief transmission crackled across their shared radio bands. "Negative on preemptive air strike. That will leave target alert and on defensive, and draw her to open air. Need to keep her inside, box her in. Wait for my signal to strike anything or anyone." Well he certainly gave orders like he had been learning from Raven. He was also completely gone from Brigandine's sight despite her turning away for just a moment. As if he was a ghost or living shadow. Which was how he moved across the grounds, his senses alert for trouble, danger, cameras, guards, and so on. He avoided all of the above with the fluid grace of a nocturnal predator, despite wearing an outfit that was predominantly black while moving about in broad daylight on the grounds of an upscale suburban home. Apparently to work with Raven you did indeed need at least a couple of skills. Which he had. Endeavor caught what almost maybe sort of kind of looked like a passing glimpse of him for one brief moment over near the house. Somehow he was casually loping along the stone wall surrounding the back yard. Despite starting out on the opposite side of the house. And barely any cover for a good stretch of the way. Then he was gone from sight again; she could be sure she only saw that glimpse due to her altitude, and the fact he didn't care if a teammate saw him. "Perimeter breached. I have seen children more alert than these so-called guards. Infiltrating to Cline's location now." Not that anyone saw him. But within another minute, the dark-cloaked vigilante was almost improbably standing in the same room as Samantha Cline, behind her and out of her sight, silent and watchful. Then he spoke, his voice low and gravelly, and the three heroines working with him heard both his words and some measure of the room around him. "Samantha Cline, also known as Luna Moth. I understand you are seeking contact with the Raven." Statement, not a question. But a pause was nonetheless given where Cline was able to speak.

http://orokos.com/roll/285018 28 notice to see if he gets spotted, best entrance for a suitably Raven-esque entrance, other info, etc. http://orokos.com/roll/285019 27 acrobatics to stick to trees, fence, roof, etc. Not so much about not getting seen as it is staying mobile and keeping exit options open. Also, parkour! http://orokos.com/roll/285021 24 stealth. Well he managed to at least avoid yelling out "PARKOUR!" while sneaking in.

Are there any real guards or security measures? If so, then yes. If not, feel free to narrate how he slips in all stealthy and then is just kind of standing there in the same room as Luna Moth, because Batman.

ic And Two More Shall Take Its Place
KnightDisciple replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Grenville and Ashton
Thoughtspeed shook his head slowly at Cho's question. "I...not really. I can talk mind to mind. But I can't read minds. It's...um." His helmet had retracted, so they could all see him frown. "I can call or text other brains but I can't check browser history or apps or photos or anything like that if the other person doesn't sent it. And even then pictures don't work well. Racer and I could talk really fast, mind to mind, but right now I can't say if any one memory is psychic tampering or really good special effects and smoke and mirrors. I could get a hold of people who can do that but it's outside my...range, I guess you could say, at least right now." He gave a helpless shrug and a wan smile. "Seems like right now I sacrifice depth and power for variety and options. Ask me in a couple years if I can pull some of that off. Or sooner. Who knows with super-powered puberty." A bit crudely on the nose but not an inaccurate observation. -
Nevermore was stoic as he drove, though he never complained about Brigandine holding on too hard. Then again it hadn't been difficult for the girl to determine he was clad in a fair bit of body armor. Not quite a candlelight dinner. When the obviously custom bike stopped, he turned his head a bit and spoke over his shoulder. "Plenty of rubber left. Big tires." He hides all that sass under his stoicism. Nevermore grew even more serious as the others "reported in". "please try to keep low profiles, even if that means temporarily grounding yourselves. I should be fine long enough to misdirect her attention. Not planning to spend half an hour to distract her. Expecting you ladies to be able to hit hard and fast. I will keep a communication channel open. Everyone already has the frequency." If for no other reason than that he is displaying it on his high-end palmtop for several moments. He then tucks it away and turns to the fence, beginning to climb it with ease. "Just give me a minute or two to get in place. Hopefully I won't have to brawl a middle aged financier."

ic And Two More Shall Take Its Place
KnightDisciple replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Grenville and Ashton
This was a serious discussion. Major accusations being thrown about. Traumatic memories being dragged forth. Events that sounded a lot like brainwashing. Which was why Thoughtspeed dropping to the ground, gripping his sides as he peeled out booming laughs in his occasionally-cracking still-deepening teenage boy voice was all the more egrarious. "Hahahaha man WHAT that is some hilarious stuff! Pfft, seriously guys I can't have been the only one to meet that Nevermore guy. He probably doesn't even know what 'pimping himself out' means or requires! All that stuff is baloney, Racer." Suddenly he was standing up, his voice serious. "I have it on good authority the Freedom League and other heroes are clean and on the straight and narrow. The most they are guilty of is being boring squares." He was using "squares" without irony; his father was probably feeling a surge of sudden pride. "And even if Miss I Am So Smart over there can't recognize how this is all a setup I can. Seriously Racer think about it. If things were really that bad wouldn't there be more proof than a bunch of wacky tapes? And if the conspiracy was that big why train you guys and gals in the open at all?" -

When Brigandine first made her entrance and made the remark about an "old girlfriend", Nevermore just tilted his head slightly. A moment of thoughtful study could conclude this was his equivalent of a raised eyebrow, since his armored cowl would disguise such subtle body language. "Indeed." A real chatterbox, this one. He gave respectful nods as Endeavor and Miracle Girl showed up. "Good to have everyone on board." He fell quiet as Brigandine brought up the map, his mask disguising the appreciation he had for her computer tech. He tapped his chin with his right hand's index finger, his left hand holding his right elbow up. He appeared to be considering options. At the remark about a jet plane, he spoke a casual reply. "Still working on my pilots license for tight geometry urban pacification aircraft." It's hard to tell if he's joking. "I have a ride. Motorcycle. Can carry one passenger, but a bit uncomfortable for long trips. Fine for this. Brigandine could ride with me, if you can't fly and don't want to run or jump the whole way." Well his tone is matter of fact so it's unlikely he's flirting. He presses on, all business. "All indications are that Samantha Cline is very unstable, mentally speaking. Should exploit that. I go in first, serve as a distraction. My costume isn't the same as the Raven's, but close enough for a minute or two with delusional person. You three work your way around to the back, come in for surprise attack. Can serve as backup if she has extra muscle there. Her mutation means I will probably need help when fight happens." He clearly isn't trying to protect the girls really; just exploit weakness and excercise tactical judgement. Albeit with little apparent concern about mind controlling pheromones.

Will dramatically rolled his eyes at the affection from his mother, but the subtle psychic bond the family shared meant that she knew it was an act. He was at that image-conscious stage of life, but he still loved his parents and sister deeply. Just ask the mercenaries he fought a few months ago how protective he was with Holly. The ones whose jaws were healed, anyways. "Ugh fine yes any price is worth homemade burgers oh my gosh yes you know I love this apron thanks I'll go check now back in soon!" Skipping school lunches certainly gave him energy! He was outside in a flash and a blur. "Hey dad! School lunch today is a disaster so I'm home for grub oh good you aren't going too heavy on the sauce and guest hello!" Will must have had too much sugar. Or maybe he had stealthily nabbed sips of coffee? Either way he gave Starlight a winning smile and a firm-but-rapid handshake. "Nice to meet you, Miss Starlight! Good choice coming on a burger day! My dad might be stuck in the 80s but he flips the meanest burger this side of the Mississippi!"

There was a rush of wind and a blur of green-speckled motion, and suddenly Paige wasn't alone in the kitchen. More Chex Mix was gone, and her teenaged son was standing by the sink, drinking deeply from a tall glass of ice water. He finished, and immediately did something else teenaged boys are good at: running his mouth off. "You would not believe how terrible the food at school is today mom. I think the normal cooks are all down with a bug. It's probably a villain's plot! Disable all the kid heroes with terrible food they can barely digest! Ugh. So yeah I'm home for lunch today that is okay right? Awesome! Oh! Burgers! You told dad not to soak them in the hot stuff right? I don't want to, like, burn out a girl's lips if I kiss her." Which was unlikely to happen any time soon. But don't tell that to William Cline.

Nevermore was silent while Endeavor talked, only nodding at a couple of points. When she gestured for Casey to come over, he actually saw and recognized her as a fellow Claremonter. He nodded at the request to bring her in, and gestured for the two girls to follow him a bit away. Once they were in more "privacy", he began speaking in low tones that only had slightly less menace than the nor "Basically. Used to use scientific devices, more recently mutated and de-aged. Was mentally unwell before. Hasn't been helped by mutation. Was, is, obsessed with Raven. The first one. Boss Lady has tried to keep an eye on her but she hasn't done much. Other things took priority. She isn't available right now. But I think if we have a group we can take her. Need to move quickly before she amasses more followers. Mental instability means she's not predictable." He thought for a moment then nodded. "Let me talk to authorities for a few moments. Let's meet in about 10 minutes across street on top of that building with the ridiculous billboard. If you think any other allies can be called in in that time, do so. But we can't take long." With a respectful node he took his leave, moving back to the other room. There he quickly found Ami and spoke quietly and in French. "<Myself and perhaps others will be taking the fight to Luna Moth soon. If you happen to have... contact information... for a hero or two who you think might be willing to contribute to the fight and can be on top of the building across the street, the one with the ridiculous billboard, in 10 minutes, see if you can contact them and let them know.>" After that he moved on to speak to the security guards, explaining that while the boys had performed theft they were likely mind-controlled. But with the controller still loose, better to keep them in custody until the whole thing could be sorted out. He confirmed the contact information of a few police officers who dealt with such cases and situations, then politely excused himself. Eight minutes and thirty-seven seconds later, he was on the roof of the building he had indicated to the others.
