  1. Huzzah Quickness 4! Anyways.. Notice: 22. Search: 18. IC up shortly but he's pretty much just kind of zipping around and looking at the lobby and such while trying not to disturb the blood, bodies, and other obvious evidence.
  2. Once my edits go through Nevermore will, I suppose, technically be PL 9. But I'd still like to try and get him in on this.
  3. A frown of distaste came onto Nevermore's face as the woman emerged. "That's just...tacky." Speaking as the sidekick of a bird-themed crime-fighting woman vigilante, he has at least a bit of authority on the subject. Either way, he begins moving, following close behind Vonnie. Just as the super-tough youth landed on the ground, he felt a pair of hands on his shoulders for a moment. "Thanks for the assist." Nevermore had used him as a platform to propel himself those precious few feet into the air to reach Seagret. He actually managed to get one hand on her ankle...but she was quick to shake him off. He'd touched her, but only for a moment, and with no gain. A growl of frustration left his throat as he landed on the muddy ground in a crouch. 'Really wish I had my suit right about now.' he thought uselessly to himself.
  4. Move Action: Move up to Seagret. Standard Action: Melee Attack: 11. F that. HP Reroll: 24. Grapple Roll: 16. Oh come on.
  5. HARK THE HGM Nevermore A lot went into this. 19 Power Points, and some reshuffling! >Here is a reference post. I will also paste the sheet below in spoiler blocks. I will break this up by section. General notes: -Most generally speaking, he should be at PL 9 combat caps now, still Attack and Defense shifted. -Please change his header on the character thread to state he is PL 9. -His progress is now to Impervium, since Gabriel went Platinum. -Age is 17. -Weight is 160. -DC Block is now an actual Code Block. Abilities, Combat, and Saves: -Upped Strength and Constitution to 16 each (he's been working out!). -Gave him 1 more rank of Base Attack and 2 ranks of Base Defense (with adjustment to Dodge Focus, noted further below). -Due to Melee Attack and Str bonus, Grapple bonus is now +14. -Toughness is now +7 due to Con boost. -Upped all Exotic saves to +5 bonus, for +8's on all Exotics across the board. Skills: -Dropped Climb, Swim, and Knowledge (Tactics) entirely. He can get by with his stats and Jack of All Trades and Beginner's Luck. -Upped Acrobatics, Drive, Notice, and Stealth to 7 ranks each (total +10 for all). -Upped Computers, Intimidate, Investigate, and Search to 8 ranks each (total +11 for each). -Upped Survival to 5 ranks (+8 total). Feats: -Added Accurate Attack, Beginner's Luck, Defensive Attack, Evasion, Improvised Tools, Jack of All Trades, Second Chance (Mind Control), and Track. -Increased Takedown Attack by 1 rank. -Reduced Dodge Focus to 5. -Using 4PP of my Bronze Award on 4 ranks of Equipment for him. Which technically frees up PP for feats that I re-spend above. Powers: -Spending 5PP to move his Mighty Damage 4 outside of his Device to become "Martial Arts", with the Training descriptor. -Device is now 16PP cost for 20DP. -Added the Limited [Half] flaw to his Immunity, then took that point and added Infravision to his Night Vision Lenses. This should spend all 19 Power Points, putting him at 139/139 PP. And a solid PL 9 character, to boot. Copypasta of his sheet:
  6. Thoughtspeed backed up, giving Cho a bit of space as she started to first lose, and then gain, control. His face remained locked into an expression of sympathy. --Not me, we, Cho. We would control it. I think you can do it on your own, though; I'm just offering you a hand up.-- Meanwhile the collected heroes who weren't Cho got a slightly more stinging message. --Could the lot of you maybe take all the speculation about who slaughtered everyone here a couple feet away until I help my friend get her powers under control?-- But then Cho started to really get a grip on things, and he gave her a smile. When next she heard his voice, it was with her ears not her mind. "That's it. You're right, you can do this. I know you can. These powers are yours. You control them, they don't control you. It's hard some days, but that's how this works."
  7. There were still a couple of blue construct-toys being used in the background, and every once in a while a little futuristic orb floating around Cobalt Templar's head would fire a small bolt of fire into one of the wood piles to keep it roaring, but the big man himself was calmly working at a plate with several s'mores on it. He seemed to have quite the appetite, older-than-he-looked veteran or no. "I'll let you know if I need reinforcements for the plate here in a couple minutes, but otherwise I'm good for the moment. Just waiting until the others have wrapped things up, really." Cannonade could tell that a large part of the big blue guy wanted to go be with his friends, but considering that Erin, Jessie, Trevor, Mark, and Nina were all over there already, it was likely to be more than was needed for now. CT nodded at Aquaria's words. "That sounds like a pretty awesome plan, Aquaria. And I don't think there will be much trouble, if any. Midnight and Wander will make sure everything's fine."
  8. Aleksander calmly dabbed the corner of his mouth with his napkin before setting it down as he turned to face the man. His companions might note that he had turned his body and chair such that he could, if necessary, quickly enter a close-quarters fight with this man if he turned hostile. Yet his posture was relaxed and his face was politely neutral as he spoke. "We are. May we ask who we have the pleasure of speaking with?" He didn't rise, as right now this could just be some random businessman or whatnot, and local customs didn't require bowing for a general greeting.
  9. Sun Walker calmly and politely took the bag, stepping so that he was not in anyone's way as he watched, curiosity evident on his face. "I must somewhat shamefully admit I still have not fully grasped the mysteries of the arcane ways. I certainly believe in them, but at this time it is still mostly, ah, jibberish to me." He actually blushed a bit at the admission. He seemed to feel it made him less worthy to be here, or something. "Perhaps one day I shall approach the enlightenment and knowledge of my honored ancestor." Well he wasn't faking all this humility, that was for sure.
  10. "The most important and critical things in life are rarely easy." Gabriel knew full well the meaning behind "everything". "We count ourselves lucky to be your friends, Stesha. You are a great friend, and a fine hostess." He nodded and smiled. "I think that sounds like a fine idea."
  11. As soon as the chase had begun, Nevermore was off at a sprint. For a guy without an ounce of real super-power in his body, he was fast! And he could move. The cowl-wearing youth slipped along the wet, trashy urban landscape. A dumpster was just a perch to leap and run upon, giving him a boost when he encountered the fence. The fence, that was harder only because he had to place his hands just so to somersault over it in a smooth roll that left him hitting the ground boots-first, his knees bent to absorb the impact. He'd seen Samaritan tag Miracle Girl. He'd even caught a glimpse of Endeavour deciding she wanted to play nice again. None of that slowed him. He was in his element. The dark, the rain, the cityscape? All of it was perfect for him. He started changing his movement pattern, going from a simple straight-line sprint to a randomized zig-zag pattern that began hitting the patches of shadows around him, making him drop out of sight for precious seconds at a time.
  12. Just as a note, for at least a while my posting rate will slow somewhat, and I wouldn't expect I'll be in Chat on anything close to a regular basis.
  13. If we're working to make sure AEGIS is treated as more "law enforcement" and less "super-paramilitary-spies", one thing to keep in mind is that they'd basically operate like a "super FBI"; that is, they focus on crime done by supervillains and the like. Would this not be accurate? If that's the case, the ones most likely to try and "corrupt" or "infiltrate" AEGIS, besides SHADOW, would be organized crime. But if AEGIS is mostly cops but with shinier toys, then you have to work angles a bit differently.
  14. With his current build I'd have to scrape up more points to divide it up that way. Though if I left things mostly as-is and made a basic thrown weapon with Accurate, that could work.
  15. Aha, okay. In that case I might make it just 5 ranks then and dump those elsewhere. Hm. Perhaps shave 3 from Survival, 2 from Escape Artist, and, say, 3 from Search? Maybe shave in 1 or 2 more spots... Oh, well, if that's the case, I'll move it; to be honest, I kind of just grabbed feats that the Mastermind Manual associated with particular styles. He's got a gadget with a cloaking cloak. He actually had Acrobatic Feint and Challenge (Fast Task) Acrobatic Feint in a previous iteration. Not a bad idea. Also in a previous iteration. Powers: The suggestions on his powers are all good ones. Though he's not strictly an omniglot; he's just good at a lot of languages. Honestly I'm at the point I'm seriously considering just dropping 1 rank of gadgets and re-working my existing gadget examples to all be 15PP or less. That would free up, like, 7PP to give him that Autofire on his melee. I suppose I could, in turn, drop 1 more point of Base Attack, shifting that to Attack Focus (Melee), which would make him 15/12/5. Heck, maybe I'll just drop the idea of throwing weapons entirely; that'd flush out 1 of the 3 15+PP Gadgets (Homing Pinions). I could drop the Drain Toughness on his EMP Grenades down to 10, that'd make that 15PP. Then I could drop the Paralyze off his Electroshock Gauntlets, and that'd make them 10PP. Maybe I could shift a couple feats like Improved Disarm to that Gadget, to represent tines on his gauntlets?
  16. Gabriel hated seeing his friend so sad. What person would enjoy such a thing? But he also knew there was little he could really do. At least, that was ethical, anyways. "You work so hard, Stesha. It's alright to need a break, to need to take some time. It's also okay to miss friends you don't see much or any of any more." He paused, trying to formulate his words as carefully as possible. "And it's okay to miss him. It's okay to wish he was here. If he does not return for decades or centuries, that is no one's fault but his. Don't forget, though; you do still have friends. Both here on Sanctuary, and on Earth. I'm sure you could speak with Megan, if you'd like; she's gone through somewhat atypical circumstances herself, as I understand it. I'm always willing to talk and listen. I'm sure Tarrant would be, too. Tiamat...well if you want to go smash things for stress relief she'd be up for helping you with that, at least." He trusted Gaian Knight's dragon companion implicitly but she was not a subtle or "touchy feely emotions" type of person. "And there's more. Maybe your bonds with some of us aren't as strong as your old friendships, but I can speak for at least myself when I say I'm always willing to be a good friend. The point is, you're not alone, Stesha. You have friends here, for whatever you need our help for."
  17. Sure, that's why Will's talking to her so much in the thread! We can keep riding it out for a bit if you like though.
  18. This looks really solid, Shaen. You can tell he's Not!Daredevil, but by the same token, he's his own character. His weapons and costume are different, his family's different, his old wounds are different, etc. Your description of his fighting style sounds more cautious than how Daredevil is often shown. Basically, he seems like a really well-done homage that's still his own guy. Also, I realize we don't do PVP but part of me is amused by him and Gabriel meeting. "Oh geeze who has the freaking dog whistle?" "Uh...." "Dude like turn it off or something!"
  19. Revisions of my maxed-out Raven III build. Making this a new post to see if I can get some feedback. I've tried to make him a bit less uniform in his core stats, and also give him a better skill spread, as well as a few feats that reflect him being more than *just* a martial arts combat machine. Spoilering most of the fluff for now, can rewrite that later. The Equipment section is spoilered because the non-vehicle gear should be subsumed by Gadgets and the Suit. The vehicles will be Vet Rewards. Player Name: KnightDisciple Character Name: Raven (III) Power Level: 15 (250/250) [Gold Reward Slot] Effective Power Level: 12 Trade-Offs: +3 Attack / -3 Damage; +3 Defense / -3 Toughness In Brief: The young apprentice and sidekick of the Raven, Nevermore is preparing himself to take on that legendary crime-fighting mantle one day soon. Alternate Identity: Aleksander Garen Nakani (Birth Name/legal name); Svarog (Name assigned by the Blood Dragons); Nevermore (former crimefighting identity) Identity: Secret Birthplace: Rustavi, Georgia Occupation: Student (Claremont); Crimefighter Affiliations: Claremont Academy; Raven "family"; Blood Dragon Scoiety (former) Family: Henrik and Maral Nakani (biological parents, deceased); Loren and Melissa Barbeau (adoptive parents) Complications: Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier: While the particular cell that was "raising" Aleksander was dismantled, the Blood Dragon Society as a whole still exists. And they aren't the sort to let resources go to waste, especially ones that display the potential Aleksander has. At some point, or several points, they may try to retrieve Aleksander, not realizing that he's also Nevermore. Secret (Identity): Aleksander's identity as Nevermore is something known only to a few (though fortunately or unfortunately, at least some fellow students at Claremont know). The risk is not only to himself, but to both the Summers, to his family, and even, in a way, to Claremont itself. 20. He gave a not-really-faked shudder. "It's just so...disconcerting. I mean, I get that I'm a good talker, but it still baffles me that I'm popular. Like, that kind of popular, I mean." The poor deluded man is actually serious and doesn't realize how man-pretty he is. "I actually had to talk down a couple of League lawyers from trying to file assault charges on my behalf. None of those women deserved that, even in civil court; I just held a press conference saying I forgave the...impropriety...and asked that in the future it not happen again. Between that and just not going out on the floors, it seems to have worked." None of his teammates have the heart to tell him about the fan sites. The many, many fan sites. "I used to get thanks like that; people told me that, other than the coat, my outfit was easy to make. Now? Not so much. But yeah, that's something. And I think people understand that a woman who can literally make deserts bloom can be busy sometimes." Gabriel poured himself more coffee, then added in the "extra flavor" again. He raised his mug, as if in a toast. "To the simpler days of fighting street thugs and petty themed criminals."
  21. Thoughtspeed's mind raced. Cho was on the verge of losing control of her powers. And that would be bad. Between all the heroes here, maybe they could, perhaps, get her somewhere where it was safe to "blow". But that would leave them well away from the scene of the crime, and delay them in possibly stopping whatever psycho is killing kid heroes. So instead, he decided to take a risk. His next thought-speak was heard by Cho and Thaelia. --Cho, look at me. Come one, stay with me, Cho. Let me help you. I can help you. Let me link our minds. I keep my own powers leashed every second of every minute of every day, did you know that? My brain just does it automatically, these days, but I used to have to work to not spout out gouts of kinetic energy and smash my toys or bed. Never did tell you that, did I? Well, the point is, maybe I can help you, Cho. Let me help you control this. If you don't think you can leash it yourself, let me help you tie it down.--
  22. I'd have to hash out the maths when I get home, but would it be acceptable to you guys (AA as the thread GM and Rob as Cho's player) for Thoughtspeed to try stunting a Nullify off of his Communication power, with the descriptor/fluff that he's basically linking his mind with Cho's to help her control her powers? Or are we locked into having the Chocano blow?
  23. Initiative: 24. Fire Kong goes first!
  24. Nevermore smirked at Vonnie's confidence. "No flying. No gliding. No destroying. No grapnels. As little super-strength or other non-flight motive powers as possible. Supposed to be a contest of skill, not who has the most powerful quadriceps." When he mentioned gliding, he shook one side of his own cape for emphasis, indicating he was giving himself a disadvantage. When he mentioned grapnels, he pointed to both himself and Vonnie, indicating those who he know possessed such devices. When Vonnie apologized, Nevermore grew more somber, and gave the other hero a nod. "Everyone's fault. No one's "fault". We're just teenagers. Fights happen. No one broke a nose this time, so it's a win in my book. But, apology accepted." He had a ghost of a smile on his lips as he turned and walked to the door that led into the holographic simulation. He bounced on his feet a couple of times, rolled his shoulders and then his neck, and did a couple of very brief stretches that were half-obscured by his cape. "And this is just my game face." He was ready whenever the others were.
