  1. Right, Will's so grappled it swung from "not funny" right back to "funny" again. He is going to attempt to Escape via Escape Artist: 17. Welp.
  2. Gabriel had come along with Fleur after he had been assured everything at the highway was fine. Now he knelt on the other side of the soldier, offering him a warm smile and a very gentle pat on the shoulder. "We are, soldier. My name's Gabriel. Might I ask your name?" Once the man had answered, Gabriel continued. "Give yourself a few moments to finish waking up, please. But when you've had a chance, we need to ask what you can remember about the attack." He gave a worried glance to the others, before returning his attention to the soldier. "It seems like they've got a town hostage, and we need every bit of intel we can get."
  3. As soon as Evan said he didn't know the code for the paper, Nevermore shifted his stance. Evan wouldn't recognize it, but the young crimefighter was preparing to pounce....Which he did about 5 seconds after hearing "I don't think I'm the guy you want.". His hands grabbed the front of the man's shirt and tossed him to the middle of the roof. Before the bartender could even start getting up, he had an armored knee very gently applying pressure to his solar plexus, while hands with grips like vices held his arms in place. Blank eyes, now glowing green, stared directly into his. The one bit of flesh seen, the mouth, was....Frowning. "Liar. I didn't want to do vigorous debate, but it's up to you. Now. Next time you lie, I'm going to give you a better angle on the breeze. Next lie after that, I start seeing what kind of yo-yo tricks I remember. Gotta warn you." Grinning. "I'm a bit...rusty." Frown again. "First, I want names of anyone and everyone you'd know who might deal in hot money. Names, numbers, addresses, habits, favorite food. Anything you can give me. Then you're going to tell me what that code means." One hand went to his belt, clicking something hidden in a pouch, before moving, quick as a snake, to hold the bartender's arm again. From this point on, Evan was on Candid Camera. Or, at least, candid voice recorder.
  4. Nevermore stood, one foot casually placed on the solar plexus of Devine as the gang leader lay there insensate. Just in case. He was studying the map that had come from the man's pocket (he had been thoroughly searched and disarmed beyond that, as well). His free hand idly thumbed through contacts on the phone. "Told them. Way of pain. Still, this was successful. Was rewarding, working with both of you. Tight, efficient work, despite us busting into a pile of unknowns. It would have been too much for me. Boss Lady keeps harping on how backup is good. She's right." His mouth is showing the hints of a smile, though it's clear he's working on keeping a professionally "grim" facade, what with being surrounded by half-conscious gangsters and with police rolling up any minute.

  6. Thoughtspeed had to actually process that the Jet Patrol had made such a cartoonishly racist statement in their entrance. Still, he supposed it was the 80s, and you took what you could get. At least Cho hadn't been hur- And then Errant got smacked so hard he hit a tree and went unconscious. He grit his teeth; part of him wanted to chase down Rain Spider, but there were still civilians in the line of fire, and Clock Queen seemed the only one who actually cared about that. So he opted to try and make things less crowded with civilians. Timeline be damned. But even as his feet started to move, his mind fired off a tight-beam message to his impulsive comrade. --Cho! Get Errant and get to a safer spot! We're outgunned and outnumbered if we're gonna try to take them ALL on! He's out cold and a sitting duck! I'm going to try and get innocent people out of the fight area!-- Indeed, he was a black-and-green blur as he raced all over the immediate area of the park. People who had been tripping over their own feet found themselves moving more steadily (at least for a couple of steps). Those on the ground found themselves standing. Words of hasty encouragement urged them to keep moving, keep running, get out of the area. Officers of the peace in the area were given more forceful words that they needed to get people out. Thoughtspeed was not his father. He was not his grandmother. But he was fast. He just hoped that today, he was fast enough.
  7. Other than a bit of Free Action Talking, Thoughtspeed is just going to take a Full Round Action to keep getting civilians out of the line of fire.
  8. In case it's not clear, Gabriel is asking whether he should turn his Array to MAXIMUM DIPLOMANCY or not (aka Charisma 50 and 20 total ranks of Diplomacy, for a +40 Bonus that can be Skill Mastered or even Ultimate Diplomacy'ed). HGM, if you don't want that hose turned full blast yet, just have an NPC say he should hold off on that.
  9. Gabriel actually grimaced at the mention of "tearing things apart" from the good Doctor. "That somehow got left out of our briefing. Thank you for the information, Doctor Baskhaar." It was easy to tell his thanks were sincere. He didn't twitch as the local struck the plane with a mace, instead opting to give a friendly smile and wave. His voice carried to the others despite his lips not moving. "Not exactly the friendliest greeting, but hey, she's not trying to tear us out of the sky, so that's a plus. Um." Gabriel's whispered voice actually seems a bit unsure as it pauses. "How high should I dial up the charm when we get out of the plane, do you think?" Velocity, at least, would know that Gabriel was asking if he should turn the full force of his powers toward being an incredible force of personality. In this case, in the hopes of keeping things friendly and peaceful. Unless a local detected and misunderstood said use of said powers.
  10. Will had managed to get enough of his wits about himself that he could hold a conversation, even if he was going to be mighty sore for a couple of days. Even with his enhanced metabolism. He gave the "new kids on the block" a warm smile (his helmet having been retracted, though his mask was still in place). He returned Brainclay's handshake, though it was obvious his full strength wasn't back yet. "I think we're the ones who owe you folks a thanks. I was sure I was gonna have a sunburn for weeks after that. Anyways, way I see it, all us heroes are in this together. Sometimes that means we swoop in to our own rescues, right?" He turned his attention to the quiet young woman who had saved him. "As for your timing, Racer, I'm not going to complain." As Saboteur introduced himself, Thoughtspeed gave a respectful nod. "Wasn't gonna ask for names. Kind of against the "rules", you know? Anyways, sure, I'd be up for an HQ visit. Check out your digs, see what I should put on my wishlist. Don't think of us as competition, though; just another part of the team."
  11. Updated as best as I can. Please, anyone, if what's up there is wrong, let me know, and I'll adjust.

Cobalt Templar's eyes narrowed further. "That has to be one of the weakest defenses of actions ever. 'I totally wasn't going to hurt them except by violating their minds and robbing them of their free will, just like dozens of other people.' Nope, sorry. You don't get away scott-free with this one. Plus, you're using one of the Seven. That makes what you've done my responsibility." Well there's nothing out there that explicitly says that, but the girls know Corbin's one of those "responsibility" type guys, and dealing with the Seven Rings is something they know he's been doing for a while now. "So either you stand down. Or we make you stand down."
  13. Gabriel's frown deepened as information came forth from Tiamat and Comrade Frost. Magic? Multiple powered individuals? This wasn't good. "It sounds like a group setting themselves up as the next Crime League, or one of the other such groups floating around. But the question is, why here?" Gabriel was going to go ask one of the soldiers, when Velocity ran up and told them about the injured soldier. The sound controller turned toward Fleur. "Fleur, you should probably go with her and get him stabilized, then get him back here. After that, Velocity should probably try to keep scouting. In the meantime, I'm going to try and get a better picture of things." With that, Gabriel turned and looked for the highest-ranked member of the group of soldiers who was conscious and not in terrible pain. He would walk over to them and crouch down next to them, a warm smile on his face. "Glad you're doing okay, sir. I hate to bother you, but we're looking at a big pile of unknowns. There are two things it would help us to know. First, just what was your convoy carrying that someone would go after so violently? And second, what can you tell me about the makeup of the group that assaulted all of you?" They had gotten some bits and bobs of information, but perhaps asking again would jog some memories. If nothing else, Gabriel was the sort of calm presence one would feel okay discussing such matters with.
  14. Cobalt Templar sat back a few moments as Titan and Riff worked to try and gather some clues and information, both about the setup in the warehouse and the situation in general. "Any clues about another hideout for them, Riff? I'm glade we busted up their little game here, but it seems like they have enough right now to just try again. Honestly, if we cant' find much trace, I'm not sure what else we can really do right now. They've got at least one person who can teleport, and I don't know about you guys but I don't really have the means at my disposal to track that. We might just have to give some statements and head home."
  15. Sorry for the delay on this. I don't have books at work, and weekend ended up with me mostly away from computer. I needed to look up Staggered! *Low whistle* Geez. 1 action period, and any more damage and I go under. Okay. Going to spend my Hero Point to take a Full-Round Action to attempt Recovery. Except I guess technically it's this round and next round? Anyways. That's the thing I'm doing. That thing, it's my thing. Recovery Check: 7. So, uh, I guess he gets a +1 when he makes a check again. In an hour. That's Will for this round and next! I'm not going to bother with an in-character post. Just assume he's standing there shaking his head, hands on knees, or laying on the ground, or whatever.
  16. "I hear you know people, Evan. Lots of people. Bartender like you, probably talks to hundreds of people a week. Great job for socializing." Nevermore takes three slow steps closer to the bartender. "I hear you even know folks who help get rid of less-than-totally-honest goods. Now, I'm sure you're a good, law-abiding citizen who certainly doesn't approve of such things yourself, but don't want to make waves calling in anonymous tips to the police." Well, there's the "out" for Evan to snitch with. Nevermore takes another step closer. "So I'd like to see if you remember any names, and maybe addresses. And I'd like to see if you can help me solve this little puzzle I found. Not quite the Sunday morning crossword, but." Here he pulls out the coded message from the desk and dangles it from 2 fingers, tilting his head to one side.
  17. Knowledge (History) focused on the Psions: 25. Trying to recall any extra information now that Corbin has something to latch on to. Like, have they tried a holodeck stunt like this before? Did a family member go through WW2? That sort of thing.
  18. Gonna go ahead and get myself an Init Roll out of the way: 19.
  19. Thoughtspeed grunted a bit as he heaved the pilot out of the mech suit and lowered him enough that when he did drop the guy on the ground, it shouldn't break anything. Shouldn't. He made a show of dusting his hands off, before zipping over to the others. "I'm guessing the staff at least sort of is his, Ge-er, TNTeen. What with the snake cultists and the snake mech and enchanted plutonium-" He seemed a bit sore on that subject. "-and snake staff. Besides, while generally I'm all for not doing things to make the po-po madder at you or whatever, if that thing's some sorta magical WMD I'm fine with him dusting the batteries. If they want it in a museum they can always make fakes." He was standing over by the mech suit again, giving it a critical eye and a couple pokes with his toe. "Hm. Reckon they'll give this thing to Archetech? Or someone else? Robots seem to be a big craze these days, after all. And bigger is sometimes better."
  20. Almost as soon as they arrived, Thoughtspeed was a blur of motion around the park, his mental voice urging people to get up and run away. Where civilians stumbled and fell, he actually stopped to help them stand and get running again. Many shied from his presence. He tried not to let it get to him. He almost didn't notice Kyogen preparing to murder a policeman, but he did manage to go check on the half-conscious one. He couldn't really move the man very easily. So he blurred over to the other man. Said policeman felt Thoughtspeed trying to help him stand and get moving, before he spoke into the officer's mind. --Dude you need to move. Your partner's pretty out of it; I'll get you to him and you guys need to bug out if you're not gonna help the civvies bail. This place is gonna go bad and it's gonna happen quick, and you need to get. Out!-- There was steel in those mental words as he guided the rattled officer of the peace away from the looming fight. And then Cho started yelling at Kyogen and Clock Queen and the Jet Patrol and everyone, daring them all to take her on, and he could only look on in growing horror. He hadn't thought this would happen. 'Damn it I should have just told her to focus on helping evac and damage control! We aren't trained for this ************.' The last word he thought was one that he'd learned from his mother by staying up a bit later than normal when the editing for a show had had basically everything go wrong that could. She still didn't know he knew it. Which was actually an accomplishment, living in a house with a psychic like that.
  21. Will had taken a few moments to get the terror of Tyrannosaurus Rexes that had been chasing him moving off in a different direction, and then kicked his speed up to full gear to leave them behind completely, appearing next to his father around the bit about "dragon lines of Earthly magic". He waited until his father had finished giving the low-down on this Ghorummaz person to talk. "So Puff the Magic Dragon on all the steroids?" There was a bit of sarcasm in his voice with that comparison. Probably because his parents had made him watch that very movie when he was younger. "He doesn't sound nice necessarily, but if this Ghorummaz is actually worried about the dino-folks, isn't that a good thing? I mean, heck, if the G-man can think and do magic and stuff, maybe we can just hop forward a bit and talk to him once he's out or something? There's like millions of years before he's a worry for us. For all we know he's part of what's supposed to happen to the Earth after the big rock hits it!" This was said as he and his father started their run back toward the island, even when Richard put one hand on Will's shoulder to lend him some extra speed.
  22. I can't get the chat to work right. It half-loaded the 2nd time, but none of the stuff i said showed up. EDIT: The temp chat, to be clear.
  23. Gabriel smiled a bit at Triakosa's question. "Well, putting aside the fact that the ladies and gentlemen coming along are more comfortable flying in a plane than with us carrying them-" Here the silver-and-white clad man gives a slight tilt of his nod back toward the team of diplomats and sociologists accompanying them. "It seems like the locals are more comfortable with us all coming in in one plane, rather than the somewhat more hostile setup of flying and running in. Us having to wait for their approval gives the locals at least a sense of control, which is important. It means they're not feeling quite so defensive, and thus may be more open to, at minimum, us getting everyone off the island alive. Ideally we'll get them happy with the idea of not knocking our planes full of helpless passengers out of the sky." His words were friendly, but while the man was legendary for his ability to defuse a situation, there was a hint of steel in his voice when he talked of the passenger plane.
  24. I got you covered, BR. Just don't get mad at me if the rolls aren't great! EDIT: Here we go! Kit Arcane Lore Roll 1 (For the Big G): 8. Kit Arcane Lore Roll 2 (Examination of Shaman Juju): 15. Sorry I didn't do better!
  25. All characters with names/descriptions added. Not a bad point, Shaen! Of course, my own character won't have much in the way of personal star-flight until he's gotten some PP under his belt, so he's gonna have to buddy up with one or more folks! I do support building a Freedom Moon, though!
