  1. Aleksander's mind was racing as they walked through the hallways, though his face was calm and relaxed. Secret projects were pretty standard in high-tech firms; it's how you stayed competitive. But still, he was getting a chance to at least see where they were. He'd have to try and compile a computerized map later. Between himself, Elias, Gunnar, and Juno, they should get a pretty solid map made in a short amount of time. Plus he was curious what not-so-secret projects they'd get to see. It would help set up a comparison for the much-more-secret projects later on.
  2. Reflex Save: 10. Welp. Toughness Save: 14. WELP. Let's just roll with that for now.
  3. Under his helmet, Thoughtspeed grinned fiercely. Maybe they could take the stupid robot down. "I like this plan!" With that, he zoomed in front of the robot and began weaving a high-speed pattern of black and green. It was practically hypontic. "HereIam hereIam hereIam hereIam hereIam! Lookatme lookatme lookatme! Watchthebirdy!" And then suddenly more rents are opening in the robo-suit's armor, those twin blades carving yet more furrows in its armor as Thoughtspeed races all over its body at incredible speeds, before coming to a stop just a couple feet away from it. "Guess I got your nose!"
  4. Yeah I am definitely going to be the weak link here... Move Action: Acrobatic Bluff. Check: 23. Free Action: All-Out Attack 5. Defense now +6, Attack +16. Free Action: Power Attack 5. Base DC now 25, Attack now +11. Standard Action: Attack with Twin Blades! Melee Attack: 20. Base Toughness DC is 25, plus any Autofire.
  5. There was no suddenly-visible speedster boy in the bank as the man throwing fire around tried to trip him up. Thoughtspeed had heard the man. He simply chose not to respond. Not verbally, anyways. Instead, a mental "message" went out to everyone there, one that they all could tell was one-way only. --I'm not the guy throwing fire around, buddy. But hey, you just threatened to kill civilians. Just means I get to mess you up more.-- And then suddenly there was a blazing fury of pain against the back of the Red Salamander. The blades weren't visible, but he felt the high-speed kinetic impacts all the same, in two dozen places up and down his spine and legs.
  6. Check vs Bluff: 28. Now for the turn! Move Action: Get up next to RS1. Standard Action: Melee Attack with Twin Blades: 22. Figuring that probably hits. DC 20 Toughness, plus any Autofire.
  7. Now, on for the brainchild of Ecal and myself (at least in how it looks, we haven't talked mechanics yet, but that's what this is for!). The Corvid (Vehicle; Airship) [85EP] Basically it's going to be a more robust version of The Bat from Dark Knight Rises, albeit some rather different background design elements. EDIT (1:53pm CST USA Wednesday July 16): Took Toughness down 1, Impervious Toughness down 1, Navigation System down 1. Added Auto-Pilot feature, added Concealment vs Radar.
  8. Using *****, *(&#($*&(*, or "and then he cussed a lot" is a great way to have someone swear a blue streak without typing it out outright (and is pretty in-genre). I have one character who knows like 6-7 languages, and at this point I just write "and then he swore in Latin" or "then he muttered a curse in Hebrew". Let imaginations run wild! Not a Ref here, but the Chinese-American part is obviously totes fine, and the martial arts in general is fine (Thunder King plays a Thai character who is an expert at Muay Thai fighting). Eyebrows might raise if it's Magic Kung Fu but that's all about the execution. The only thing that really makes me want a bit more info is the "living in a chinatown like district", as that's the only point it really maybe feels a bit on the cheesy side of "stereotypical", but it's not an absolute travesty. Regarding "kung fu master", I would say the key is to research the martial art or martial arts you want them to know and build thematically for that. Keep in mind that "kung fu" is dozens to hundreds of styles and sub-styles. Most masters know maybe a handful of styles.
  9. Inside his helmet Will grimaced at the "fat Dutchman" comment. "Well there's a mental image I'll have to scrub from my mind, thanks for that." He sighed and relaxed his posture, the swords disappearing, though the green glow was still faintly around his whole (thoroughly visible again) body. He crossed his arms...and was right next to her, still guarded, but clearly not wanting to fight. "Right then. I'm not in a brawling mood, I want to deal with the Jet Patrol even less, and it's getting a bit too warm up here anyways. Let's blow this popsicle stand, ma'am. I think I'll skip on the League signups for the moment, though. Just bugging out is good enough for me. Let's head out." He really just wanted to be home in bed. He would settle for "home bed sick with the flu" and he had had the flu before.
  10. To-Do List (as of about42pm Friday July 11): Unkindness: Weapons Array (Visual+Auditory Dazzle, Ranged Stun, Ranged Damage, something to fry electronics); rank 10. Touch-up and adding other minor powers. Downgrade Toughness and Speed a bit. Add some sensors/Super-Senses. Talon: Adjust toughness down a bit. Perhaps add some Leaping. Possibly use Alarm to compensate as well. Maybe increase Wall-Crawling to rank 2. EDIT: Per Thevshi's suggestion, downgrade sure-footed on car by 1 rank (to 3).
  11. So, as stated, The Talon is for when he's Nevermore. This bad boy is gonna be for when he's Raven, though I might talk with Ecal and see about it being something GeckoRaven cooks up. The Unkindness (Vehicle; "Car") [90EP] Edit (as of about 10:30pm Sat July 12): Whew. So, uh, yeah, this thing is a beast. That's..sort of intentional? This is basically the Arkham Knight Batmobile, but with a "weapons array" that's actually focused on "not killing people". Hence a big dazzle gun, and an EMP cannon. The Damage could be a cannon of some sort that fires variable ammunition. It's got a "crowd control" power, a "take down bad things" power, and a "turn off electronics" power. Expensive or no that feels pretty well on-target for a big, beefy Batmobile wannabe. The big challenge is that this thing's going to require either 2 Veteran Rewards, or some PP spent from the character. But, such is life. This is honestly going to be the beefier, more heavily armed vehicle, too. The Corvid's about speed and getting into more places...anyways. EDIT 2 (11:52ish AM CST Friday July 18): Added an "ejector seat" for dramatic/fun scenes.
  12. "Iamonit!" Barely intelligible thanks to his speed, the kinetic psychic's intent was easy enough to discern. He blurred up next to the robo-suit, taking just a moment to give his twin swords a flourish he had blatantly copied from his grandmother (but that had its own unique touch thanks to how they glowed and left motes of fading kinetic energy behind). "Time to recycle!" And then he was a blur of motion, his swords darting and stabbing and slicing, beginning to carve deeper and deeper grooves into the material of the machine. A couple of times, he actually ran on the surface of the thing, leaving more holes and gouges, and even scratching the glass protecting the pilot from harm. Finally the storm of blades stopped and Thoughtspeed was standing in a guarded position next to a much-more-battered mini-mecha, posed dramatically with his swords akimbo. The whole thing had taken just a few seconds, mind, so to the average observer it might have just been a blur.
  13. Hrm. This sounds very interesting. Part of me wants to offer up Gabriel, because he definitely has the non-combat skills. But I'm not sure if you feel he'd be a good fit here, Gizmo! Nevermore's kind of the opposite end of the spectrum, sadly. CT's great in a fight, but unless we're investigating ART or HISTORY he's not super-useful for detective work. Thoughtspeed can search things really fast and is technically PL11 (especially if his edits get put through), though he's at 8 caps. Basically I want in, and my desire to get Gabe more posts so he's the one to hit Platinum first means I'd like him in on it, but I would be okay if the guy looking to GM didn't think he'd fit.
  14. I have nothing constructive on mechanics to add at this point, but for irony the Terminator should look like Christian Bale, or any of the other actors who've played John Conner.
  15. Thoughtspeed glanced down at the poison even as he faded into sight. "I'd ask how you saw me but you wouldn't say anyways, so." He glanced around. "Let's say I got lost on the road of life and leave it at that. Anyways, yeah, I've heard of the Jet Patrol. Definitely not buying their t-shirts. But. I don't know you. Why should I trust you'll give me safe passage?" His stance was guarded, but not hostile. Clearly he just wasn't stupid and knew there was no such thing as a free lunch. "What expectations are levied at me if I accept your offer?"
  16. By this point, unless actively kept up by Elias, Will's mental link with his friend was closed. Certainly Will's own powers weren't sufficient. The *zap* was unexpected on a rooftop. Static electricity in the AC, maybe? He zipped over to find out. And then a crazy not-dictator-just-yet lady was trying to slice his face off. "Yowsageez! Watch it, lady!" His brain was still registering who he was dealing with even as his body instinctively had him curving around the sword swipes and taking high-speed backpedals. His light-bending powers wavered for a moment before solidifying again, even as he conjured his own blades. "You wanna play swords I'll play swords! I'm trained by the best!" One of them, anyways; Anna Cline was definitely no slouch with swords, 80s or "present day". Of course, the high-speed blitz was thrown off a bit by Will's rather jittery nerves, meaning none of the blows connected. But no matter, he was in "combat mode" (as he sometimes thought to himself), and he was now on the opposite side of the roof from the woman with poison swords.
  17. Hm. I think....Will is going to play it safe round one. The following brought to you by the joys of Move By Action. Move Action Part 1: Move away from Kyogen! Move Action Part 2: Move past her at top speed, pausing only for... Standard Action: Attack with Twin Blades. Melee Attack: 19. No hit, ah well. Move Action Part 3: Get to the other side of the rooftop!
  18. History Check: 11. Just enough! Init: 28.
  19. The armor in that picture is barely functional as clothes, let alone as anything resembling a protective device. If you like how it looks, hey, free world. But that is most definitely a non-functional, sexualizing, barely-counts-as-clothes set of "armor".
  20. Will took several moments to take deep, long breaths before replying to Elias. --Thanks. Needed the reality check. Seriously though, we need to keep our heads down. This whole keg's gonna go sideways ASAP.-- With that, the no-longer-visible psychic speedster rushed off, the only sign of his passing a breeze, and perhaps a sense of heightened nerves, in his wake. He searched until he could find a building that was at least a bit taller than the others before running up the side. If the roof was empty, he'd stop there and try to get his bearings, looking for any landmarks he could use now or later.
  21. I'm thinking Nevermore's going to stick with the tour for a bit, so he can get a free partial layout of the place.
  22. Also we're PG-13 so, you know, there's that. Except I don't think Hugh Jackman butt shots would be valid here (hi thar XMEN DOFP!).
  23. Alternatively, she could simply not suffer "stripperific" costume damage. Ever. Clothing damage is fine, but the term "stripperific" implies a level of objectification that's not appropriate for our site's tone. Heroes should not be flashing the public, even after fighting a legion of Omegadrones.
  24. Or just give her a Morphic molecules suit and avoid this concern, since we don't really go for "stripperific" looks around here. EDIT: My apologies if that came off a bit harsh, but it's just that our site's intended tone is such that "stripperific" isn't really something to aim for. Certainly your character doesn't need to fly around in 5 layers of burlap sacks, but PG-13, "like DCAU/Young Justice/Buffyverse" is a pretty good metric for this.
  25. DARKEST HOUR LIT by GIZMO This one is gonna suck, sorry guys. Cobalt Templar First, some maths, because I'm finally stripping out that Bronze Reward. The PP total does, as of the last few months, include at least a couple of times of receiving posts and/or direct PP rewards from Gabriel (who is maxed out) and/or GM/NPC postings. Now, on to the sheet itself. -First, I stripped out the Bronze Reward, leaving (as calculated above) 6 free PP. -Then, I took those 6PP, and basically shifted his Enhanced Strength out of his Ring and directly onto him. The idea being, at this point the "bleed off" from the Ring (which is really very minor, but is there) has been in him enough to grant him a bit of extra power even if the Ring itself is taken away. (If he ever lost the Ring permanently but was still alive they would stick around for a long time before fading away.) -Realized I'd been over-costing his Space Travel thinking it was 2pp/rank. Reworked those numbers. -Touched up Power Descriptions and History to account for the new power, plus updating history in general. -Spent 2 of the freed PP inside the Ring on giving him See Invisibility. -Spent the other 4 on boosting his Create Object (and thus his Move Object). EDIT: Gizmo found slight math problems, so I have 2 free PP, so I spend them! Here is the full sheet, copy-paste-ready (>here is an already-posted version to compare to): DC Block: ATTACK RANGE SAVE EFFECT Unarmed Touch DC24/21 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Physical) Unarmed(G) Touch DC32 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Physical) Blast Ranged DC27 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Energy) Strike Touch DC27 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Energy) Abilities (38) + Combat (36) + Saving Throws (14) + Skills (18) + Feats (12) + Powers (97) - Drawbacks (0) = 215/215 Power Points
