Tagging. Also, thank you for adding in that Nevermore got to do some high-up interrogation.

Thoughtspeed's eyes widened as the multi-armed robot moved as fast as he could! His eyes narrowed again as it struck against his friend. "Big mistake, fry-maker." And suddenly in a blur of black and green he was right beside the thing, his twin gladii blurring a complicated patteren that left a multitude of cuts across its metal superstructure. In the blink of an eye he'd paid back whatever strikes it had made four-fold, and those blows had clearly had an effect on the construct. "I'll show you what a superfast swordsman is like, tin can!"

Move Action: Get next to the robot that attacked Stronghold. Standard Action: Attack (already have Dual Blades out): 31. Nat 20! So, base damage DC is 20, +5 from Crit, and he has Autofire, so up to +5 from that. So somewhere between 26 and 30 for the Toughness Save DC.

Nevermore had never quite stopped moving after delivering his blow. He'd used the precious seconds it bought to get himself back on his feet and into a stance that allowed for equal offense and defense. He let Polarity speak what she wanted. Thing was, he felt a bit less sympathy for the automaton that had tried to rip his face off just moments ago. Then the arrogant leader spoke up, and Nevermore couldn't keep the snarl of menace out of his voice. "Me? First, I'm going to break your toy." He was a blur of motion, and suddenly his legs were helping hold down the creature's neck and forward body while his arms wrapped around it just below the head. Metal began to creak and groan. "Then? Then I'm going to break you." His milky-white eyes stared at the man, menace exuding from Nevermore's very being.

Alternatively, it could be multiple factors. Unless the alien dude is either amorphous, or can change shape, he'd likely have to be fairly humanoid to fit inside a human-made power suit without being literally grafted inside. It's a bit of a leap for them to just "assume" said being isn't sentient and sapient. But what if he seemed dead? He's in a big crash, and gets beaten up pretty badly, and between freaky alien biology in general, and special hibernation instincts or whatnot, he seems to be dead on arrival. He gets taken to a secret base, but wakes up before dissection starts. Then, breakout! Combine that with weird initial readings that make them think he's a hive-mind creature, or otherwise obfuscate the exact nature of his sapience. Thus, it's less about them imprisoning a being they just somehow don't think is a reasoning being (seems kind of hard to swallow if, again, they're not evil and this guy is conscious at all), and more about them making mistakes due to weird biology.

Thoughtspeed groaned a bit at the entrance of this new girl. He and Stronghold had been making progress getting this guy calmed down. Then the other spaceship showed up and it all went to hell. William knew that the Curator was bad news; his parents had drilled that into him. They'd tried to teach him that he should just avoid anything to do with the cosmic intelligence. Unfortunately, they'd raised their son with too strong of a moral compass to just leave a sentient, sapient being to be taken back to whatever tortuous prison the machine demigod might have for him. In the blink of an eye, he was standing in front of the alien, twin swords of pure kinetic energy blazing in his hands. Even through that featureless helmet, those around him could tell he was glaring. "He's not going with you, and you're not taking us down." And then everyone present heard his voice in their head. --Right, sorry, this isn't a group chat, the only one who can hear you guys is me, but I can play relay. Sorry to barge in but we gotta stay on top of this guy. Stronghold, you should be able to give us some cover. Maelstrom, you and our gun-toting friend can help back me up in wrecking this silicon poser's day. Guy who knows Maelstrom, I don't know what you can do, so back us all up as best as you can. We're going to need to hit this thing hard and fast.--

Thoughtspeed normally wasn't one for stakeouts, but having heard that his quiet friend Errant would be on this case, he figured that he could provide his buddy some backup. Cho being present meant that he was somehow the "middle man"; more experienced than the new student, but not quite as thoroughly skilled and experienced as the quiet psychic next to him. He'd cleared it with the two of them beforehand to use at least some minimal psychic communication during the stakeout. It was a valuable asset, being able to speak without making noise. --At the rate Baldy is going down there, we could be eating popcorn up here and none of them would hear us.-- He paused, his faceless helmet looking between his two companions. --Am I the only one who kind of hopes this just fizzles out? Crime League members are pretty big-time. If there's just one, we could probably take care of it...but it still makes me jittery. Errant, you've still got that emergency signal, right? The one Headmaster Summers gave you?--

Thoughtspeed tilted his head to one side as the figure demanded a vehicle. "Ah, well, here's the problem, sir. I didn't drive here. I ran. Like this." And in an eye-blink he's 10 feet further to one side, hands still held up. "My friend here didn't bring a vehicle either. Now, if you're wanting some help or protection or asylum, we could always contact the Freedom League. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to lend you assistance. I do have to ask if there is anyone else in your vessel in need of help, medicla or otherwise."

Thoughtspeed probably was a bit threatening in his black-with-green-highlights outfit, faceless black helmet and all. However, he made sure his posture was calm, open, and non-threatening as he lifted his hands up in the air, palms forward. "Hey, hey, easy. It is okay. We are not here to hurt you. We wish to help. I am not armed. She is not armed. We are just here to help. Is anyone hurt? We can get you help if someone is hurt. Please be calm." His voice was clear and calm, not quite commanding, but definitley not servile. While his vocal chords move, his mind did as well, and Stronghold heard his voice in her head. --Try to follow my lead. Just stay calm, keep your hands out in the open. If he shoots at us we take him down, but if not, we just try to get him to chillaxe a bit.--

See, on the one hand, Nevermore can appreciate Polarity's position. On the other, the dragon tried to fry him. And he kind of wants to mount that head. Whether on his wall or his bike, who knows! Decision decisions... I'll post actions up later. Gotta mull over this a bit!

"Normally this is where someone would make a crack about this place being more like the left heel of the world, but something tells me you're talking less about direction, and more about the state of human civilization..." Corbin's posture didn't really match his light tone of voice. Between their assigned psychic talking about something "big and freaky" on the lake, the general sense of nerves in the place, and the melodrama of the scientist, he didn't find himself liking how things were shaping up. "Please tell me you can give us an idea of what we're going to have to go out and punch in the face, Dr. MacGregor."

Will had been finishing up getting the back yard fertilized and such (using one of those wheelbarrow contraptions that you had to move so. Dang. Slow!) when he heard, and then saw, the strange event outside. He blinked...and then grinned. A dash into the garage stowed the fertlizer thingy, and then another blur of motion saw him leaving a note stuck to the fridge. And then he was blurring into his costume and racing along the streets! His strides ate up the ground beneath him, and it didn't take long before he was leaving the heart of the city behind and reaching the very furthest outskirts of the city. He'd be in the forest and at the crash site in just a few more eye-blinks....

ooc Tales From The FCPD: Dirty Money (OOC)
KnightDisciple replied to Brown Dynamite's topic in Archives
Right then, cracking out a few checks. Notice (to check the computers to see who might be coming upstairs): 24. Acrobatics (for the climbing and positioning in general): 25. Stealth (for the making it hard to see him): 28. Haha, nice. He's not quite pulling a River Tam or whatnot, but he's darn close. And he will ready an action to initiate a Grapple on whoever comes into the room, with an eye toward using Chokehold to keep them quiet. -
Nevermore cursed in 3 languages...inside his head. He should have expected the door to creak, but he supposed that's why he was the Apprentice and not the Master. At least this Master-Apprentice relationship didn't involve lightning-based torture... Shaking his head of the random thoughts about pop culture, he scanned the room's contents quickly, as well as the general physical layout. The computer held the most promise, but there was no way he'd be able to get anything meaningful from it before someone came up to investigate. So instead, he glanced at the camera feeds (trying to get a better idea of who might be coming up) and searched for the best perch. Ultimately, he slipped behind and to one side of the open door, and quickly scurried partway up the wall. In the dark room, in the darker corner, his costume should help hide him. Then he simply waited.

Since I know you're kind of sparse on interweb time, Ari, I'm posting questions here. -You already mentioned the overall cave is about 50 feet high and whatnot. The fountain is centered, yes? -How far away is Grimy Ringboy McNecklace from the kids, specifically Corbin? -I'm going to wait for Gizmo and Fox to post before posting with Corbin, since, well, Corbin's post is going to be me/him starting combat (by way of sudden size change and a grapple attempt). So, just a head's up there.

Will had gone into his tent to change out of his "work uniform" into a short-sleeved shirt and some loose training pants. He wore a larger mask than he normally sported under his helmet, one that covered his face down to his cheekbones, as well as a hat and a bandana/sweatband. It was a bit unconventional, but it let him air out the self-cleaning costume just a bit (morphic molecules were wonderful things sometimes). He gave his mother a faint smile at the suggestion of lunch, before speaking up, a hint of snark showing through. "Is it beans again? Or do we get something a step above MREs to celebrate today's historic moment?"

For a moment, Thoughtspeed considered ignoring the last Cultist. What harm could he be, after all? Especially when there was a magical nuclear mech right there! But that was just the sort of thinking that would end with someone catching a bullet in the shoulder. Best to nip that in the bud now. --That seems like the sort of question to ask the pilot when we pry him out of the mech like it was a tuna can.-- Thoughtspeed's cheerful voice rang out over the impromptu psychic network even as his form blurred once more. When he stopped for a brief second, it became clear he was no longer wielding a polearm, but instead a pair of short swords, similar to Roman gladius. The twin swords flashed in a blurred pattern, striking multiple locations on the Cultist's person almost simultaneously. And then the young speedster was right next to the mech again, sizing it up to try and find a weak spot.

Hm. One mook left, and that robot seems to be keeping pretty well contained for the moment. Free Action: Switch Kinetic Blades to Twin Blades configuration (the Autofire BP). Move Action (Part 1): Move up next to remaining Snake Cultist. Standard Action: Melee Attack. Take 10. Base DC is 20, plus Autofire if applicable. Move Action (Part 2): End up next to the Cobra Mech (He has Move-By Action, hence the split move action.)

Corbin had a sudden epiphany. "I just had a thought of how you can help us, and help other people too. There's been someone running around these parts, messing with people's minds. The descriptions make me think they have a Ring like mine; not a copy, but a similar artifact with powers focused on different specialties. Would it be possible for you to reveal to me who this person is and where they are right now? Or would that be outside your power?" He glanced at the girls with him with a knowing smile. "Help us sort that mess out, and we can figure out if there's a way to bring more people here. You do seem like you just want to help people."

"Sounds like a smashing idea, Nick. I believe the appropriate expression is..." Gabriel spurred his horse and took to the skies, waving his lance toward what remained of the fighting. "Tally ho!" And so the battle was joined once more by Conquest, and the song of their victory rang like the sound of terrible drums, until their twisted enemies had had their ruins smote down, or had fled to their dark corners of existence.
