Subito hadn't expected Agnus's text in the slightest. He had been anticipating something about Malaise, something about the snake, anything but the news that everyone at the zoo had suddenly become horribly sick. His own cheerful day and good health suddenly had a pretty big shadow over it, and he'd been glad to get away, to do something at last. Zipping through the sky surrounded by a thin golden mist, El Heraldo paused above the Hanover Zoo. Looking down he quietly surveyed the now-deserted paths until he spotted a knot of people including the Zookeeper, then pulled out his phone from an inner pocket to glance again at the message blazing on the screen. Wincing at the words 'plague' the young paragon swooped down and and landed with a thud of his boots next to the orangutan cage, ignoring their shrieks and whoops of surprise blasting through his head as he marched over to the cluster of officials, tapped one of them on the shoulder and said politely when she turned "Hi, I'm El Heraldo, my comrade Young Britannia should be here soon. You mind telling me what you've found so far? Please?" he added awkwardly. The sun beating down on his dazzlingly loud costume was a lot like the one yesterday, and already he knew with a deep gloom that this was going to be a long, long day. With his arms crossed and his face as impassive as it could be, he did his best not to show it. Glancing over her shoulder(floating slightly up so he could see) he added to the Zookeeper "I can try to heal you if you'd like, Mr. Willis. I'm not as good as Why Bee, but I'm not bad!" he said with a wan grin.

Wave-Eye nodded slowly, eyes even wider as he took in the magnificent view. Atlantis was famed as the last great wonder from the old age, and Nochehuatl knew, as he felt the same quiet awe that he always did seeing the golden metropolis, that this was utterly true. His reverent "Yes, and this is in a dark age for them. What might it have looked like before, when it stood strong above the waves and did battle even with Drowned Lemuria?" was cut short on the third syllable when the Atlantean guard swam into view. Flinching a little at their approach he glanced at the two human women. They knew what they were doing, they knew far better how to talk to people, he would be silent-'Yes, keep quiet again and let the humans fumble along. Faugh! I am a child of Chalchiuhtlicue, I don't need them to talk for me' Swimming up to the three glittering soldiers, the bronze-armored triton bared his teeth as he grated in his watery voice and gestured to the two heroines and then himself "This is Silver Spider and this is Temperance, I am Nochehuatl the Wave-Eye. We come on a vital mission! Dread Leviathan has been cut into pieces by the Deep Ones and sent against the surfacers, and they had help from your watersingers. We must be allowed to enter Atlantis, and destroy the conspiracy in your midst!" That said, he folded his arms and glowered down at the city's greeting party, black eyes reflecting the light of Atlantis like a spectral gleam in their abyss.

If I may, going to use Wave-Eye's "This looks like a job for..." Complication, speaking first and rashly.

The power to talk to fish eagles is definitely possible, Supercape! But I'd prefer to keep it a little more grounded. Though that makes things less fun...I'll work something out, edited the history to be a tad better(no death, so no involuntary manslaughter charges). As for folks connected to him, TiffanyKorta was kind enough to let me know about the Owlman, and mentioned that it was in just the right time period to be part of the Powers Project. So: early in his career, Osprey encountered a strange creature with similar avian mutations to his, and after losing the brief battle learned that they were called Tylluan, and left Alden after charging him to 'be wary' and not to trust 'the real powers', leaving hints that he was a result of the Powers Project himself, and that something terrible had happened before vanishing into the dark, reappearing every few years to help or hurt Osprey, seemingly without reason. In his more lucid moments it seems he wants to "lead Osprey to the Sun" to test his mettle, though what that could mean is beyond him. His pal, Eileen Rose, went on to join a special branch of the SAS dealing with powers, having had much more success with the Formula after recovering from her injuries.

Best wishes on your birthday Semi-Autogyro! Hope you're doing fantastically! May you come back to this day many times more, each time with joy! :toot:

Well if I understand Tiff rightly it's not so much "The drugs gave her superpowers!" as "the drugs awakened her natural powers!", that right? Let me add my voice to those complimenting Thevshi on the relationship map. Real nice work! Yes, Osprey was experimented on by Prof. Blackpool. I shall name him...Alden Richards. A dockhand who worked in the Newham Docklands, with some training in the chemical and biological sciences who turned to that work to support his family. As briefly considered in Chat he served as a willing test subject for the Osprey Formulas, intended to turn a human into a superlative ambush fighter by increasing reaction times, enhacing the senses, hardening and lightening bones and vastly increasing muscle density and power. It was a smaller, much more focused arm of the Powers Project, with an emphasis on private researchers. He left the tests after a friend of his who also volunteered was badly injured during one of the sessions, apparently at Alden's hands when the man broke his restraints in a haze of pain and total confusion. The antidote he started taking, to his shock temporarily increased his abilities instead of reverting him to normal, and the oppression of organized crime in his part of London gave him the motivation to turn from an ordinary citizen to the Osprey, the mighty hunter of crime and scourge of smugglers throughout the docks of Merry England!

Crownguard does sound nice and British! Good strong name. One thing it does have is at least an implication they have stuff to do with the Crown or are sponsored/appointed by the royal family, and making them the premier superteam of Great Britain seems a little iffy in a 'killing Alpha Flight to demonstrate how bad stuff is' way. Yeah, I know they're most likely not dead. I guess they could be an official Ministry group, like Thevshi suggests. That would make it pretty fitting. Crownguard, The Royal Squadron or something bombastic. Okay then, map stuff! That could be a great angle! Lord Farrington as the guy who liked and supported the old team, and is really suspicious of these newcomers who sweep in so soon after the beloved Crownguard vanishes. Sounds like the guy who would be even more sour about unaffiliated vigilantes. Like Osprey for instance, some creepy bastard sneaking around the docks and dangling smugglers from loading cranes.

It's bound not to be taken. It's clear and bereft of any misunderstanding, only issue I can think of is it's a little generic and a little broad.
-
Sadly, according to discussion on Chat Crossguard turns out to have somewhat troublesome issues as a team name. Such as implications of being a Christian superteam more than anything else. Might be good to choose another name for them. According to Thunder Vanguard's free to use. Could incorporate that into a more than two-word name. Roo, I'm going to go with that, with Dr. Blackpool being responsible for Osprey/Fish Eagle getting a formula that gives him/her powers for a time, transforming them into a monstrous creature like Man-Bat.

DC20 Fortitude save: 28! Spectacular!

"You didn't have t'say it like that, Etain" Subito groused, irritated that his gaze had involuntarily flicked away when Morgan had pinned him with his eyes. Sticking his hands in his pockets he leaned against the wall of the scrying room, watching the watery shadows and dappled light play on the ceiling "Anyways," the sturdily-built teen went on "I'm not totally stupid. 'Least not yet. I know it's not like our world, that it's...got different, I dunno, modes? Ways ya do stuff? Not rules, that ain't what I'm thinking of. I'm not gonna do somethin' crazy just 'cause." Rubbing the back of his head methodically his head dropped down, and he looked earnestly at Morgan "Hey, uh, Morg. Thanks. I dunno if I can bring anybody along, but if I can you're totally on the list of 'People I Want Around in Spiritland to Pull my Butt Out of the Fire'." he smiled warmly and swung his powerful arms out to encompass the whole trio of mystics "Heck, if you guys think it'd be fine, I'd be super-glad for all your help! But...[/color" suddenly the bulky Puerto Rican looked a lot less sure of himself "Is that really the best idea? I mean, getting a bunch of people to come help me with my personal trial as her Herald, seems kinda like...cheating somehow. I know what you mean about spirit tests by the way. They suck. The Blue Dame's are pretty minor, but they still get pretty frustrating sometimes. Hey, Herald, save that kid! You saved her? Well you better have done it to help and not just keep your powers! 'Cause I'll know!" The young man rolled his eyes. Subito turned hopefully to Nick "What d' you think about this sir? An' how much difference is there between Roman and Greek mythology?" he added with a baffled look.

Ah! Gotcha. Thanks, obviously need to flesh them out, and since Synpase comes from a wealthy family it might be neat if they happen to be related or close in civilian life. Or I could go with Osprey-Person being some other socially-conscious moneybags, or else somebody from the lower or middle class who decided to do something about the ravaging schools of crime. And how rebellious are we talking about here?

GM "Pah! I wass hidden in the Great Sssenate! Concealed amidsst thesse apes for a year!" the gold-scaled reptile would have raised its fanged snout into the air if it could have done so without looking stupid "The High Masssters told me everything of worth, for I was the lynchpin of the Highfang's plot. Ten hundred of our wild coussinsss will asssssssault thiss city from the Northern Paradise, with a hundred of our race from the West to ferret out the Romanss, the Serpent Scepter of Yig has brought usss an army none on thisss world can withsstand! Wait but one day, and you sshall sssee the wallssss burn!" His yellow eyes gleamed with evil delight at the thought, and the black slits in the middle slid nearly shut despite the darkness.Catching their eyes, its confidence faltered just for a moment, and the creature shivered. Huddling against the wall it turned away from the teens. "Do what you wissh. It sshall get you nothing. I have no more wordsss to wasssste on you monkeyssss..."

Coming into this shamefully late, my tuppence: Tiff/SC, Britannia(especially Young Britannia)'s history and true nature is very unclear. According to the Book of Magic Britannia and Lady Liberty draw their powers from a similar source, and they both have light powers, so they might have some kind of attachment to the Light, but that's all speculation. So there's not much you can't do, although Britannia seems to be more some kind of national guardian than anything else, in contrast to Young Britannia's role as a warrior of Justice for the downtrodden. Thev: I'm really sorry! Anyway, that's quite a helpful way to explain it. Probably a good touchstone for all the characters would be the Ministry of Powers, their relation to it could do a lot for informing how they view and treat each other. What do you folks think? Catalyst wouldn't know or feel much about them, obviously, so it's not without flaws. Roo, I vote you call him Thomas Blackpool. That sounds kinda English. So far I only have vague ideas what to make for the new character, but I am leaning towards some kind of Osprey-themed Batman type of person. I'm fine with anything that might be better.

GM With a terrific cry one of the Redcaps was flung several feet through air in a bloody arc by the Prince's sword-stroke, the Fey gritting his teeth in icy silence as the rest of his soldiers struggled on. By now the whole hall was a shambles, the food in glorious ruins, the drink splashed on the floor. The Redcaps attempting to overhtrow him could smell victory in the desperate feints and hackings of Parsinkle's few remaining loyal subjects, and pressed their attacks with gleeful vigor. Seeing more than a dozen four-foot tall fairies slash and parry with dizzying speed while giggling like schoolgirls does wonders for ones nerves. A pack fo them, seeing their comrade go flying, gave out shrill cries of suddenly very real anger and charged on Parsinkle, mobbing about the taller Fey and making his longer limbs and greater height wholly useless, dodging around his flanks and stabbing vicously with curved billhooks. The elegant Prince batted aside most of the assault with contemptuous ease, but when he paused for a split second to gloat at one particularly failed maneuver he was rewarded by a trio of blades slicing through his red robes! His concealed armor turned most of them, but an unlucky flinch sent the last blade straight through him and out the other side, speckling e wall with blue blood! Aiming a coil card with great care Marceau winced at the sight and Parsinkle's cry of agony. This was starting to get a lot less fun, he reflected as he lobbed the card in a smoothly overhand toss, watching as the metal unraveled around the unfortunate Fey in its path...only to gape in awe as the creature nearly escaped it, tumbling with amazing speed over a bench only to be snagged around the legs at precisely the last minute. The creature was angry, as the torrent of ridiculous oaths testified, but the rebellious Redcap began the process of scrambling back into the fray regardless. The Fey Rene's brush hit was one of the group thronging about Parsinkle, and they squeaked in surprise as it struck them smartly on the nose. Rubbing the injured nostril irritably she snarled as she began groping for it on the floor "Yer lucky yer wi' us, magey! Else I'd et ye right proper!"

Rebel Fey#5 can! If they make the DC19 Toughness save: 17. Oh my goodness! Rene bruised his nose! The horror of it all! KoS Attack with Coil Card Snare: 20. Hits. DC24 Reflex save: 23. Fail. They are Entangled!

The sensors: 13. failed. And the weird things with teeth can't possibly match that. Knowledge(Tech) roll lets her easily get around the security systems barring the way, and Notice lets her keep well away from the unknown life forms. A small clue is missed, however.

GM From the furious glare and whitened knuckles, it was obvious the jungle princess wasn't too inclined to listen. But when Tsunami brought up her earlier promise, the girl's tense muscles slackened, and looking down at the ground Kazra nodded dully. Shouldering her weapon she stepped back close to the Asian teen, standing stiffly and looking away from the gold-headed lizard, who looked unaccountably smug at this. "What more do you wisssh to know? Perhapss how many of uss will crusssh this sscity?" It hissed jeeringly.

GM With a sound like rock grinding on rock, the answering tone shuddered through the cavernous hull, followed by Phantasmagore's voice. "Your attempts to bully me with petty morality are useless, Captain Silvia! I am the master of this ship, and you who dared to face me should not need to worry about their friend drifting outside. In a moment you will feel the iron hands of the Lor's ultimate weapon upon your petty craft, and shall understand the true folly of this assault! Bwahahahahahahaaaa!" his laugh echoed long after the signal cut out. "Thank you for powering down, unknown entity" the robot said as its cannons began to glow with an opal-like fire "Please follow us" It added warmly, the mechanical trio taking up a firing stance. As one they took flight with a roar of ancient rockets and began racing towards the heroes!

Subito watched hands clenched on the side of the table, eyes widening and face reddening as he held his breath and stared at that slowly trundling black and white sphereoid. As it reached the edge of the pocket the world seemed to grow stilll...and burst into motion as the ball toppled in. Exhaling with a weak gasp the muscular teen burst into laughter and enthusiastic applause, pausing a second to slap Serge on the back as he leaned on his cue, struggling to recover himself. At last his gasps became more coherent and shorter spaces got between them, and he managed a gleeful "You are on my friend. Best outta five it is! Just wait bro," he added confidently while paying the very calm looking man behind the counter "I won't make the next times as easy!" From the warm smile, he was obviously joking. And meant every word. Neatly gathering up the balls into the pyramid he nodded to Serge "Winner goes first. Let's see what ya got..." The day didn't look so bad after all. Maybe it was just a phase, maybe everything would be all right...
