For a moment Marceau was struck by a very quiet feeling of pity, watching the wrinkled and frail-looking man rambling almost incoherently on the floor next to him. Reaching out he gave René a gentle squeeze on the shoulder, beginning to speak when the ancient painter abruptly turned and asked him how the tracking device worked, derailing his thoughts quite handily. There was a pause of several seconds as the King of Suits hastily cast his mind back to just what the answer to that was, a worried look softening into an eager smile as he answered briskly "It is a small metal disk a few centimetres in circumference, and around fifteen millimetres tall" twirling his left forefinger in the air and then pinching his thumb close to it to give the general idea of its dimensions "It holds a very sophisticated little computer that broadcasts its position to one of the manifold communications satellites orbiting L'Terre. This signal is then bounced back down and translated into coordinates letting me know precisely where it is! I just use a little GPS receiver to track the signals. I've hardly lost any!" Jumping up so he balanced on the tips of his booted toes, the King of Suits produced another of the tracers(bearing the livery of the King of Hearts, naturally) for his friend's inspection. "I regret to say I have little to do with their making, that's done by a small electronics firm whose owner has allied herself with our cause. Can you find a way to find where its sister is, René?" he asked, wincing as he added "I know it might be a lot for you, but it might let us follow Gallia without putting us in much danger." He gave no voice or sign of what he thought about Gallia/Beatrice 'striking Liberty'. In all honesty he would have called the idea utterly ridiculous. But his comrade's greater experience and handle on the mystical world won out, and he believed it too...

Easy, I Fiat you re-roll that. Also, sorry for the earlier numbskullness. I will learn how to read.

"Whoa..." Subito stared around the room, fascinated at the simultaneously familiar and alien artifacts hanging from the walls before his gaze was drawn to the diamond in the room's center. At Lord Steam's question he shrugged. He was pretty sure he wouldn't think up any idea the two detectives wouldn't "Crash in through the ceiling?" he joked, inspecting the Difference Engine with great curiosity. Glancing over in amusement at Blodeuwedd's explanation he commented "You should have a talk with whoever's in charge of security Blodeu, bet you'd teach them a lot!" resisting the urge to tap at the odd machine he wandered over to the Diamond, examining the object of Vapeur's interest carefully. 'Could she want this for her ship? Could be some kinda focusing thingy, or-' Lord Steam's sudden stream of questions jolted him out of the mini-reverie. Swiveling around he looked in surprise at Lucien Lockwood. "Mr. Lockwood, you know more 'bout this kind of tech than I ever will." leaning against the wall nearby the elegant detective, he weighed what the older man had said "I...dunno what that lady is, besides some kinda thrill-seeker from another dimension with a lot of weirdo toys..or something? Anyway, could that kinda Star Wars hologram thing be used to grab the diamond? Can 'ether' transmissions even do that, send people?" he shrugged awkwardly, remembering just how out of his depth he was "Or else she's gonna send a whole bunch of stuff at us, then snag the Diamond while we're not looking..." He suddenly glanced around at Blodeuwedd, the stocky boy frowning slightly and tipping back his austere hat "Your thoughts, my lady?"

GM "The message that I can be a merciful guy!" Nephilim said, his eyes lighting up as he slowly got back to his feet, standing with a gloved hand on his hip as he went on "It's going to be as follows: I will do my level best to beat anyone who interferes with my work into the pavement, yes." He wagged a finger "But then I'll fix them right back up again. I have the power to undo mistakes, to take away pain and harm I cause, to put back together this shattered world! A power that you supers" he pointed a muscular tentacle that was slowly wriggling out of his grotesquely distending shoulder at the young telekinetic "lack. I want everyone to know that. You can help send the message that I am truly a god!" as he spoke his voice had swelled to a roar, and ten mighty limbs as thick as his powerful arms swayed behind him like horrific wings, sprouting from his uncovered neck, shoulders and thighs. Slamming a leg down with a crack that echoed through the Plaza, the limbs raced forward, twining and twisting! "Clear your mind!" he added mockingly, stretching out a hand that sent a stream of something at the powerful mutant, something that tried to seize at her mind and tear it to shreds, while clamping like jaws around the throat of her power, trying to check it like a clammy dam in her heart...

<"That second judgement seems like a good fit"> Marceau replied quietly, looking thoughtfully at the dust piles <"She's quite proud of herself, it might be a little hard for her to actively work alongside Fey she sees as 'beneath' her. I agree, it might be best to keep from pressing too hard. We aren't really plotting anything, after all."> he pointed out with a light smile. At the question of any further plans he might have, the young vigilante glanced over at Tasselfoot and said "We are grateful for your help, and look forward to seeing your helpers at the feast! Now, we shall take our leave, good luck to you lady Tasselfoot!" Leading the way back outside, the lean Frenchman propelled himself and the ancient artist down the hallways, muttering <"No, nothing else. We might have done too much already. You heard what Tasselfoot said? Her minions are everywhere, they will let things slip. I don't think we can do anything else with the servants. As for the feast? Just a few smoke bombs at the doors, some coil cards on the backs of chairs, nothing too complicated!"> The King of Suits grinned happily down at René <"I'm terrified this won't work, to be quite honest. Let us see how this turns out!">

As it happens, ASTRO Labs has been doing public experiments with devices enabling humans and animals to communicate, translating thought into speech with a surprising degree of success and accuracy. They've been letting ArcheTech sell some of their more stable and user-friendly inventions over the years, even after the turnover. So Jay's easily able to get his hands on a couple dozen of the things.

Hurrah! Looking forward to it TheAbsurdist.

So then, going with the assumption that Glow's using the same trick as before(flying, Total Defense), Nephilim will make with the arms(Activating Additional Limbs) for a Free Action, then a Move Action to Elongate them 25ft forward around Glow, and then attempt to use Confuse and Nullify on her. Attack roll: 26. That looks like it hits. So a DC23 Will save, and a DC15 Will/Power save for Glow to not be badly Confused and keep her Mutant powers.

The muscular Hispanic boy blinked at the two magic heroes for a second, then laughed aloud. "Guys, guys, that won't do much for me if I don't even know how scryin' works!" Leaning further on the table, resting his chin on his knuckles, he pondered things for a second, then grinned and went on "So yeah! I get what you mean, set things up so folks that might be lookin' back won't know for sure where I am and stuff, like the palantÃri? Ooh!" his eyes lit up "Do..you guys have something like that? I mean, not like a seeing stone, that'd be silly" he added quickly, a little embarrassed "But something to let you do scrying. I bet you could totally teach me how to scry! I've already got a little experience using magic from the Dame's powers, I bet I could do it!" Taking a sip of his tea he stopped, looked inside the cup, frowned at it thoughtfully, then added in a few grains of sugar. Glancing back up he waited politely.

GM As the captain crashed to the floor in an unconscious heap, his hat falling onto the crate of contraband iron a shudder went through the air. To Blodeuwedd's goggled eyes a blue light flared over the prostrate man's body, answered by a flash from the runes he had inscribed all over the ship's corridors. With a roar like the voice of a sea lion, the runes let loose a shower of fire bolts that hissed through the air, filling the cramped ship with deadly missiles! They weren't really aimed, more lashing around like insane and gigantic blue fireflies, but a swarm of the runic fire arrows managed to melt straight through the wall opposite, showing they were dangerous enough! Meanwhile, outside... "What the Hell is that?" asked the man sitting miserably in the crane, staring in confusion at the dancing blue lights that flashed and blazed through the ship's windows. Squinting up at the spirit hovering above him through the rain, he called up "Hey! Pal, you got any ideas?" "That is the Captain's magic. There must be trouble on board. I should probably go down and do something about it, you think?" his friend shrugged, putting back on his heavy rain coat "Couldn't hurt. And the Captain won't chew us out if we deal with it. Let's go!" The pair were soon slipping into the cavernous cargo freighter, the misty spirit drifting through the ceiling while his human comrade stalked down the halls, a large and carved gun held lightly in his hands...

In the meanwhile, considering Phantasmagore plots. So far I have: "Phantasmagore takes a huge battleship, and menaces Farside city with it, challenging Starlight to stop him again and drawing the attention of several other space-faring heroes." Much shorter and simpler, but could be good times.

"Be with you in a minute!" Subito called after John before turning back to the Senate. "With all due respect to the fact that we're all strangers n 'stuff, my friend's got a pretty good point! We're outsiders here, all the from Earth! We've got no reason to try and deceive you guys about this!" Stepping forward until he was just a few feet from the First Citizen, he added earnestly, gesturing outside as he spoke "And we know about what just happened! With your soldiers and that fake army, I mean! Somebody's probably tryin' to get everyone mad at everyone else, I don't blame you for thinkin' that big huge army of dinos isn't real, but I can tell you right off: it's real." Frowning up at the imposing Roman for a second he tried to gauge if his words were having any effect. Unable to see much change, he cast about for a good course... And his eyes lit up as he found one. "I've got it! I can fly super-fast, how about you let me go and get something from off those big lizards, a horn off the big one! Then you'll know for a fact you've got a bigger threat than imaginary Incans on your hands! And there's some kinda conspiracy, you better ask the others about that." he said with a grim look.

GM 2013, February 28th, Wednesday, 12.05 PM Freedom City, Bayview, Claremont Academy, Mathias Cooke Wing, Room 206B The place was Freedom City. The year was 1965, and the dim room had just gone through one of the harrowing stories of the human race on the brink. Some of the impact was lost on the more apathetic, dead or alien students, but everyone at least kind of looked interested. Dr. Amelia Valero clicked to the last slide, showing a faded 1960s picture of the bulky and purple Soarazon fleet roaring back into the sky, the Freedom League watching them go. The distinguished-looking woman paced forward, declaring placidly "That single stroke by Galatea and Sea-King was enough. The warlike Soarazons had never encountered mercy or forgiveness before from other races during an attack since the High Wars, and so they left Earth at once in the company of Star Knight to surrender themselves to the Lor fleet, vowing never to return." She smiled dourly "This vow has been broken at least twice before, each time on the anniversary of the attack, although each time the blockade fleet informs us that they stopped the invaders far from our system's borders. Something to think about when you go to Astronomy" she added with a faint grin. Looking over the lines of seated students her cool brown eyes flicked up to the clock at the back of the room(catching a few furtive backwards glances with a silent rebuke) the Supers History teacher sighed almost imperceptibly for those without super-hearing and began to put back together her notes and the class textbook. "I'm afraid time's up for today, class. Tomorrow we'll start in on the latter 1960s. All Tectonic, all the time!" the answering groan from the students got a real laugh from the sturdy Latin woman "Alright, settle down, I'm joking. He was a very crucial figure though. and his exploits fighting the Vibrator are difficult to believe. Dismissed!" In an instant the classroom burst into motion, the lights came back on and the dozens of students surged back out into the halls, most of them chatting happily to each other in small knots of friendship, handing in late papers with suitably apologetic looks to the briskly polite professor, or charging off alone to something they were already ten minutes late for, legs pumping furiously. Six students however were called back in. "Ah, Mr. Silvestri! Sondo! Stelzer! Griffith, Andrews, Solarin!" the last three were directed at a tall and refined-looking African boy, a stocky and grumpy British girl with dark red hair, and a muscular, excited American boy with bright blue eyes and black hair. She raised an eyebrow as she scanned over a small sheet on her desk "Lot of 'S' names in my classes for some reason. Anyway, since you did so well on the last test(and I must admit, in your case I'm astounded, Mr. Stelzer) I want you all to band together and do a mini-project on alien invasions of the 1960s. It has to be at least twenty pages if written, ten minutes if a recording of some kind, otherwise you're free to do as you like! Any questions?" She asked with a warm smile.

The knockout of the captain causes his runic defenses to let out a general barrage of magical energy through the ship! Alright, DC24 Reflex saves please, if failed DC26 TOU saves and if made no damage. In this case Acrobatics cannot be used as a suitable substitute, a HP to both of you.

The heat of battle was very quickly replaced with that of shame, and Marceau bowed his head a little as he weathered the artist's grief. It wouldn't have stung so much if not for the 'And for nothing...' Looking up in surprise at René's quick turn from anguish to determination, the lean Frenchman suppressed a smile. Walking over with rapid strides he plopped down next to the wizard. <"So my friend, how do we track her down and have ourselves a rematch?"> his blue eyes lit up <"Can you follow my technology? My tracer migh-"> he suddenly halted, and looked very uneasy. <"What...might she try to do with her power? Who or what might she attack?">

Eyes: Gold Hair: Deep red A dashingly handsome humanoid with dark green skin, lustrous curly red hair and merry golden eyes. His limbs are sinewy, but not brawny, and his well-defined frame has little excess fat. Zanvir has a broad face with a charming full-lipped smile, clean-shaven square jaw, impossibly imposing mustache and high forehead. Usually he wears bright open-chested vests and close-fitting scarlet pants tucked into thigh-high brown leather boots, a slim gray metal bracer on his wrist that can project a force field at will and thin steel bands around his biceps shaped like serpentine gamma dragons. His voice is a deep, smooth rumble that seems to curve around syllables. Power Descriptions: Captain Cerise's powers are heralded by blazes of light, wreathing him when they're used in a fantastic light show that is always dominated by red. From his body he can fire torrents of brilliantly-colored water, unleash a hail of immense boulders formed from sheer force of will, throw columns of History: The royal house of Teltross once ruled a dozen stars with tremendous power and derring-do. It took the rise of the Star Khan to bend the proud family, and they never relinquished their old glory. Prince Zanvir V, youngest son of that line, has made quite a name for himself throughout the galaxy. Born in the midst of splendor and ease, Zanvir soon grew bored with that and began roaming the nearby worlds, endlessly searching for adventures. Despite his family's best efforts he rapidly acquired a taste for hijacking tribute ships, getting into bar brawls that leveled towns and making the lords for light years around grit their teeth just hearing his name! At last his exploits had become a source of very real embarrassment for his family and his mother the Queen banished him from the kingdom in a rage, bodily hurling him out of the solar system. At first the prince was perfectly happy soaring through space and seeking out riches to take(though he mostly gave them back afterwards), mighty powers to strive against and beautiful aliens to take on whirlwind adventures of passion. After a while though, he realized that something was missing; something solid, something real. He wanted something to call his own! It was a realization that struck him half-way through the magnificent party held by the magnate Iltivas, considering the best way to steal the several-hundred-ton emerald that was the pride and centerpiece of his collection. At that precise moment, Captain Silvia and the crew of the Ages Lost burst through the ceiling. To say that the sight of the smiling, confident one-armed pirate holding the needle-thin tycoon at sword-point stirred his heart is an understatement. It also provided the distraction he needed to hoist the house-sized emerald on one shoulder, warmly congratulate Stormbreaker and make his getaway. The pair crossed paths many times after that, often trying to steal the same priceless artifacts, free the same captive royal, or make a fool of the same tyrant. Sometimes the prince even lived on her ship and helped with her bigger heists, but they never became more than especially tense friends, ready at a moment's notice to double, quadruple, or even one memorable time where they managed to sextuple cross each other. Luckily they only crossed swords a few times in their career together, and parted at last on more or less good terms, Zanvir jovially wishing her all the best as the Dragon of the Summer Breeze set off for that obscure backwater world called 'Earth'. In the brief time they were apart, the prince hurled himself whole-heartedly into the life of a space-pirate, even capturing a fast stealth ship out from under the noses of the Lor Navy. He christened her the Celestia, after the ship he first traveled Teltross's oceans on. He's reinvented himself in those years to become the dashing and daring buccaneer known only as Captain Cerise, gathering a loyal crew from all across the major powers of the galaxy. He's gotten bored with the fast life, however, and decided he should go see what riches Silvia's found on Earth that were worth so much trouble, and what kind of trouble he can get himself into! Personality & Motivation: Zanvir is confident, daring and full of vigor. Sadly these are in service to a man who has developed monumental selfishness and arrogance, an incorrigible flirt and interstellar Casanova who can barely be said to care about anyone besides himself. Captain Cerise's idea of a good time is to listen around for tales of valuable objects, take them in the most flamboyant manner possible and enrage everyone he can in the process before making a quick getaway. As Zanvir he likes to wander the planet of the year, throwing himself headlong into every kind of escapade available with an honest love of adventure and novelty. His wits are quick, but his judgement is often conspicuously lacking, especially when it comes to his choice of lovers and doing things with any kind of efficiency. He'd rather duel a worthy foe aboard a flaming wreck than make his escape if there is the least chance of both of them getting out alive. He has long lost every shred of aristocratic bearing, inhabiting the role of the rough and ready stellar swashbuckler with boundless enthusiasm. Powers & Tactics: If at all possible, Captain Cerise likes to create a splash at the start of a fight, some kind of showy display to make things interesting. He's more concerned with flair than efficiency, but is nonetheless a skilled fighter who uses his agility and power of getting attention to great effect. Using his Ultra Powers is something he avoids unless absolutely necessary to keep his ship or crew intact, preferring to fight people with handicaps to maximize the victory when he wins and minimize the loss when he loses. "Just hang by your feet every day for a few years, you'll get a few inches no problem!" Subito replied blandly. Frowning suddenly he glanced over "Sorry Kat, this is a sore spot for ya and I'm bein' a jackass, I'll quit with the stupid jokes." He quietly withdrew his arm, and hunched forward a little. "Well it's Mr. Kuzin, so it'll probably be somethin' Greek and super-old, and I want to save us from his ultimate threat: making us perform Sophocles." He shuddered in exaggerated horror. Kat's careful evasion apparently satisfied him, and the muscular boy shrugged blithely "Okay, probably best t'do research myself anyhow. We're at school, after all. Though some people keep forgettin' that." he rolled his eyes meaningfully at the lean mutant. Watching the blue sky tinged with white at the horizon, he settled back against the seat and began whistling an old anthem softly to himself.
-
"But you've spent so long touching peoples' minds, and you're so used to the flow of thoughts, wouldn't that make killing a lot harder?" His stocky schoolmate asked curiously "I mean," he went on with a frown that slightly mirrored Elias' "not sayin' it's impossible, but I can't even imagine that not being super-hard." He shrugged at the tangled matter "Meh, let's not get into an argument 'bout that, I'll take your word for it that you might be a stone-cold killer of dozens. And no, it's not a 'cultural thing', whatever that means." Loosening his arm around the other boy with a self-conscious jolt, he went on embarrassed "And going to dance clubs isn't just for courtship stuff! It can be for havin' fun with some friends without any chasing after girls like some kinda creepy douchebag." The well-built teen added defensively "Anyway, I like being around people, and bein' standoffish and not so much as hugging makes no sense to me. Also, we should probably have a direction for where we're goin'." he suggested, glancing around at the busy streets.
-
"An excellent division of labor! You take care of those unfortunates, Jubilation, I'll scour the city for anything I can find out about these piles of devilry..." he squinted into the inner workings of the transforming device, adding "well, humanry anyway. Since you've some experience with this kind of technology, do you have any idea where I might find a few people to talk to?" He deftly slipped the pieces into a spare pouch on his belt, looking utterly composed at the Fastest Feline Alive. "If not, I will consult my own network. They might know more than they've said recently."
-
He cannot make that! Post away.
-
Subito laughed uproariously, getting a sharp look from the driver and nearby passengers "I would read the heck outta that comic Kat! But seriously, I know what you mean." the muscular boy added ruefully "My sister n 'me had a problem like that. Not a lotta places stock in her size of 'statuesque and muscular'. And anyway, you won't stay small forever! 'specially not with your regimen." he added cheerfully. The question of him and ghost-punching got a shrug "Yeah I can do that. Not the best ghost-puncher, but I'm pretty good. Lemme know if they're thinkin' of doing any more performances of that one and I'll be on hand! Silver Scream will rue the day she messed with..the Shade" he intoned in a sepulchral voice that he ruined by beaming happily as he said it. "And I will pay full price to see you as Red Riding Hood Kat" he added gleefully "You'll be glorious. I'll bring our pals too!" He glanced out at the darkening hill whipping past "What's your favorite play? To be in, I mean" he clarified swiftly "Mr. Kuzin, the drama teacher, he's lookin' for suggestions of what play to put on for Spring! And I'm thinkin' of trying out for it" Subito nestled against the chair, the picture of ease.
-
"That's not true, Cerys" Subito said with a suddenly very grave look. With his left hand clasped in her left, the two stalked gracefully across the floor "When I first came to Claremont I was still growing into my power, and the Dama let me use my powers pretty much how I wanted. I could even fly without transforming." a stop and a twirl as the violins thrilled "Now I can't use hardly any of 'em without it being to help somebody else." Her boyfriend shrugged awkwardly, adding with a quirk of his lips "So unless you go leaping after me, falling off a building's a big a problem for me as you."
-
'Oh dear. I shouldn't-wait, if I'm dishonest about this, it will be far worse' "I'm afraid I did, Ms. Alla" he replied glumly. Running a hand through his tightly-coiled hair he took a deep breath. "It was the only way to get here quickly, without causing even more trouble." He shrugged "Hopefully we can figure a way out of anything he tries to pull." Looking up he watched Agnes' reflection for a moment, turning her question over. At last he said "We discover through him the name of every mobster he knows. See they meet justice. We work our way up the ladder, until at last he has betrayed everyone, and knows it. Then we see to it he dies by his own weapon, though if you wish another fate for him, I will gladly assist in that." Roi had a strange sense of unreality, talking to a lovely woman about possibly committing murder. But somehow..it felt right.

GM Warp quickly found a surprising number of League members at the Hall, chatting, carefree and apparently just returned from a mission to Bolivia. Horrified at the news the young mutant, they immediately sent a call to the FCPD letting them know they were inbound, and alerting the Freedom Medical Center that they would need to prepare for patients. That done, they set off with all speed for nearby Wading Way, taking Warp with them because "You'll want to see this man brought down, no reason to leave you on the sidelines". Nephilim shrugged "Eh, it's worth a shot. Tell me, Glow," he added looking up with a look of deep and strange curiosity "How would you like to help me send a message?"
