Intimidate roll: 27! DC27 Will save: 22! Failed.
-
"In that case, Wreak, what will you do when the others come?" the King of Suits asks mildly, a note of fear in his heart all the same "I do not doubt that you could break me easily, but then you're a dangerous murderer. What will you do when the Freedom League, the Interceptors and everyone else comes for you? Can you fight them all? Because if you kill one of us, that is what you bring down on your head." Marceau said it all in a vicious tone, as if he dared the man to carry out his threat. At least if he does try something, I can manage to slow him down. "Instead, how about you bring me to Archetype, and we can make sure this is settled before you two do something truly foolish?"

DC17 Will Save: 14. Fiating a reroll(sorry Blue Rose!) Kit: 2HP. Reroll: 24. DC27 Notice check which she actually can't even match: 3. Nope! So now Silver Scream will make with the Mental Blasting, targeting Warp: 20. Huh. Hits, not a critical. DC21 Will save. Moving higher up into the air.

"Sometimes." He admitted. "Usually they aren't in the water when I do, though." With unending rhythmic kicks and slow, powerful strokes of his left arm, Subito kept precisely at Kat's side, watching the young mutant carefully as he supported her. All along the way he kept up a gentle flow of words "Right, right, arc your arms just like that. Whoa, slow down, sink your legs deeper, there you go..." All through the ungainly, painstaking swim down the lane he made sure that his arm was wrapped securely around her waist, his hand resting lightly on Kat's back. Through the contact between their skin and tautened muscles he could feel the tension in her gut, and made sure to slow down the tempo and rhythm to try and put her just a little at ease. With a splash they reached the other side, and the Puerto Rican boy relinquished his arm with a rueful laugh while he twisted it around for a few seconds, getting rid of the stiffness in the muscles. He thumped her heartily on the back as the teens rested against the lip of the pool, exclaiming "Well done Kat, great job!" he grinned merrily "You barely even needed me! Just practice a few more days, and you'll be better'n me!" He rested against the buoy he carefully schooled his thoughts. Kat was clearly smart and determined, but there was still the whole 'just met her' thing going on. For all he knew she'd find him as dull and annoying as Janet had back at Joseph Clark High. 'Besides, what about Cerys?' he thought anxiously 'You two not truly a couple, my Herald. Although she seems to enjoy you and your company, there is no garauntee you twain ever will be either. Do not be so quick to assume.' resounded the commanding voice of the Blue Dame. He scowled at apparently nothing.

"Thank you." Patting Kat's hand gently when it squeezed his shoulder, Subito watched carefully as the slighter girl got into the swimming position. Once she seemed ready the sturdy boy neatly slid his right arm under her waist, gradually lifting until her body weight rested mostly on the powerful limb. He was about to start moving along with her when he realized that something was wrong. "Oh! I'm sorry Kat," he said wretchedly as he lifted her a little higher "Sorry, I forgot one important thing: between strokes you turn your head out of the water," he demonstrated by sliding neatly onto his left side, left arm extended as if in mid-stroke as he kept his other arm under her abdomen "and then you're able to breathe. It takes a bit of gettin' used to" he admitted as he righted himself with a splash "but I'm sure you can do it! Give it a try" he added with an encouraging smile "I'll make sure you don't sink."

He knows what that rat did!

"Hey!" Subito exclaimed with mock anger when Kat teased him "That power is crazy-useful! It made you laugh, didn't it?" he pointed out with a cheerful grin, drifting over to the buoy carrying the lane-dividing rope. "And yeah, if you wanted it, I was offerin' to help." he said with a nod, diving under the barrier and bursting up on the other side, facing the other end of the lane. "Let's start with a front crawl, they're pretty easy." he suggested eagerly, taking a deep breath and swiveling his body until his feet pointed at the ledge of the pool, his face held just above the water. Swinging one arm all the way forward he explained "You need to put a lot of power into each stroke, slide your hand under the water and pull back, then switch" he swung over to his left arm, digging into the pool with a quick stroke that took him a few inches away from Kat "to your left. Keep your feet moving up n'down, to keep yourself goin' even when you're between arm strokes." he mimed a rapid paddling with his legs, then dove under water and emerged next to Kat. "You want me to keep an arm under your waist, so you don't have to worry as much about keeping afloat and focus on the arm and leg stuff?" he asked, blushing suddenly as he added "Uh, if that's okay. If not, then nevermind. I'll stick to my lane and yell encouragement at you!" he added with a laugh.

DC32 Bluff check! Sense Motive roll: 25. Astounding. She turns her attention from Jessica to Kat.

GM "Well, it would take some cunning to evade them until the time is, right." Wreak argued, though he looked very unnerved by the vigilante's words all the same. Shaking his head he looked at the floor "I...I never thought about that. I am sure the elders would know how we shall rule though." he added, looking back up with a look of renewed confidence "And when we do, animals will be made to serve us they once did, rather than using men for such work! The antelopes were used because they are better heralds than shouts and energy blasts. And when Archetype gets back, I will show you what power we did not waste on those relics outside!" he declared with a smirk of triumph. Archetype looked up and down the street, a note of urgency filtering into her voice "Well, it's just a few chimps, a gorilla and a buffalo. Uh..." she glanced furtively up at Philos "...there might be more than one buffalo." "They're a few streets north, waiting in a truck to be unleashed on the relics of the past, you see. My mother was quite firm about bringing along more muscle in case we had to fight." she explained sheepishly.

GM ~"Made more of them, cloned their bodies over slow days and then would release the copies after a partial brain-pattern duplication. He even took some off the streets to confuse people by spreading conflicting stories. Tonight he claimed to be on the threshold of destroying the 'Mafia'. He said it would only take "a few more days and a phone call." This might tip his hand though."~ the Grue explained in weary telepathy. The young orderly, a very Italian-looking man probably still in his early twenties, looked baffled at the request and began to protest it "Ma'am, I appreciate the confidence, but this alien-!" "Percy, just do as she says." snapped the older of the two women, whose brisk and efficient manner argued that she was in charge. With an apologetic look to Catalyst she added "We'll be fine, the security detail won't exactly fall down from a strong breeze and Mr. Martian here needs his beauty sleep. Go on down." Percy pursed his lips and looked almost mutinous, but ran off out the door and down the stairs at a fair speed regardless, arriving at the lobby winded and weak-kneed. The graying-haired woman raised her eyebrows "Huh. Never known Percy to need to be told twice." she shrugged "Probably a bit nervous tonight." While that was going on the Grue continued with his increasingly bleary story ~"Where we were? It was...a tall gray building right across the street from the lab. Made it easier to see...who worked there. I remember that."~

Listening to Wreak's story with visible disbelief, the King of Suits nonetheless stepped back in his turn, flicking his red and black cape out of the way of a rather sharp mass of fallen stage swords. The sewing he had to do was already too much. Watching the self-named 'New Breed' across the room he said, this time more gently "So, if I understand you rightly, you and your sister are part of those descended from rogue clan who want to rule the world for the sole reason that you have powers? That is a hard thing to sell here." he tucked his hands into his cape, folding the smooth material over them to disguise their movements/ Smiling politely under his cowl he went on "Wreak, let me tell you something: how many super-powered beings are there in this world, and how many do you think are stronger than you and your entire family put together?" he hurriedly raised a gloved hand from his side to forestall the answer "There are hundreds of people out there with at least some kind of power or unusual aptitude, and you've surely heard of people like Doktor Archeville, whose genius alone could defeat practically any foe you care to name. There are some people, Wreak" he said with complete sincerity "who could easily defeat most countries, and just in this city! Do you think your family could truly challenge that?" He glanced outside at the crowd, listening for the sound of approaching sirens. 'I have to keep him occupied, just a little longer...' "Besides, why would you need a herd of antelopes to clear a shop? Slave work or no a few blasts and yells would have sufficed."

"Thank you, Mr. Cloak" Heraldo said crisply as the lawyer gave him the papers, examining them briefly before putting them into a handy manilla folder, tucking it into his jacket as he turned to Glow, saying quietly "Okay, how about we go and bring this to the cops, and then-" Heraldo gritted his teeth and nearly shouted "-that slippery....grchk!" he cut himself short and strode to the window with heavy steps of his boots, jerking open the pane and swinging one leg out before stopping to think. His feathered cap blowing in the stiff breeze coming from the sea he told Glow "I got a better idea: how about I take this guy with us to the cops with the evidence, and you go find out what happened with El Sierpe? That way it'll be harder for the Serpent's goons to find him, and we can get this out of the way!"

Okay, so now for doings to transpire. Silver Scream's Initiative roll: 16.

Checking the holes burned through her austere grey terrasuit, Atraxia got unsteadily to her feet, keeping a long hand over the smouldering patches as she said graciously *Krjrrrksh*"It was an idea, I thought that I could keep it from working if its power was cut. Similar to pulling out a heart."*kaajksh* she said thoughtfully, the helmet swiveling over to Bee-Keeper hastily *gkrk*"That is, as an analogy, not that I have done that, I mean..." she cast about for a way to escape the awkward place in her sentence, concluding lamely "...that is, you know."*jkajksh* She shook the proffered hand gratefully, her hand quite light in Baxter's grip. *Vrrrsht*"Red Moon, I am from Farside City." she added to explain questions she guessed the Bee-Keeper had "I am glad to be helpful, I could never have beaten those people alone either. You are a great inventor to have built something like that suit."*krtsch* She looked around at the broken robot, and the scattered unconscious forms. Shrugging as she thought 'Well, I am sure the emergency services of this planet can take care of this' she bent to pick up the small box, straining to get it to chest height and leaning back sharply to keep the weight better balanced. Quickly altering the suit's speech modulator to get 'strained and short of breath' *trkshhh*"What do you make of this Bee-Keeper?"*grmshhhxch*

GM With a rush of cold air from above, a sudden wail of horror from the orchestras' violins, and a clap of thunder from behind the curtain, a spectral figure appeared! His white face and paler clothes made still more pale by the wan light cast upon him by a lamp hidden in the ceiling. His were clothes ragged and to the eyes of the distant(and not-so distant) audience alive with maggots. His hair hung in lank and matted strands over his staring eyes and face disfigured by the gallows. Borne down by the unseen power of stagehands and a small pulley, the specter raised his left hand and began to say in a soft and mournful voice that barely registered as a shout to those in the back "Not so, sweet sisters! Though my neck lies broken and my tongue lies still, my soul is not so silenced!" drifting lower until he was only a yard above Jessica and Kat, Marty went on "The evil judge and his son, their crimes can yet be revealed ifGRAZUGH!" he gave a startled cry as the rope tethering him suddenly let him fall and topple to the ground, crashing off of the phony tombstone with a groan of pain, clutching his side as laughter rang down from above and Jessica cried out "Ohmygod, Marty!" and rushed to his side. Not human laughter, no sound like it could come from a human throat. It was echoed by screams of surprise and horror, and the sounds of running up in the rafters. With a shiver in the air the Silver Scream floated down into view, her cold white body and black dress blown by a deathly wind. In her chilling voice she spoke to the three young actors "A pleasure to meet you. But I fear this performance requires the addition of true talent. Of course, I will replace the star, whose performance has thus far been utterly dreadful. If you would be so kind, Ms. Jael," she said crisply to Jessica, her piercing blue eyes shining in her monochrome face as she pointed at the wigged girl staring up at the ghost frozen in horror "please remain where you are. Blood is abominably hard to get out." she began floating down to the stage, an eerie light building in her eyes.

GM The man paled at the threat, mutely getting to his feet and following Gabriel to the police line, allowing himself to be handcuffed and hauled into the armored car that was the home of his other comrades, who were currently being checked for any injuries from their effortless defeat. The flying punch was cushioned, softened by...something, but it did hurt, as a pained snarl from the shadowy OVERTHROW agent attested. It also loosened his grip enough that he was easily spun into Asad's grip. Glaring defiance at the energy-absorber he spat "Apologize? For a mere insult? Thin-skinned cowards!" He followed up his words with a savage wriggling, seeming to become nearly boneless as he struggled to escape Asad's Titantic grip!

Seeing that their foe was being held still, Heraldo called down "I hope you find what you're looking for, Errant! I'll keep him distracted" he added, slamming down onto the man with the metal skin with punishing force, slamming him into ground with a dull crack. Alighting on the cracked pavement, he stood ready to assist with his Banner on his shoulder, ears concentrated on the once more joined breath and heartbeat for the slightest slip that might signal an attack. Seeing as Errant already had the man's mind gripped tightly, he figured keeping the metal from doing any damage, and hurled himself forward to wrap both powerful arms around their foe!
