  1. GM Midtown, Corner of 46th Ave and Liberty Street; October 12th, 2012, 5.45 PM The day was bright, the air was crisp, and the flocks of birds that soared overhead, sometimes drifting down to take advantage of the kindly hearts of Freedonians, all heralded the coming winter. Cars by the dozen roared down the busy streets while pedestrians packed the sidewalks, people doing their level best to get home for a well-earned(in by far the majority of the cases)rest. At the intersection of 46th and Liberty, a rather sizable block to this goal had fallen. It was surrounded by furiously honking horns from a pileup of buses, trucks and cars that was steadily growing. The blockade was a slim young man with a South African complexion standing in the middle of the road beside a large cage filled with various terrified animals, wearing a skintight purple and blue costume surmounted by a series of belts carrying a truly impressive array of mechanical devices. Jumping easily to the top of one of the streetlights, he placed a small metal ball on top of it, pressing a button on its side. Turning to the assembled vehicles that lay below him he hollered out "Rejoice, and be glad, Freedom City! Our animal comrades and us will soon be united, and the universal union of this planet one step closer!" tapping a button on his belt the ball suddenly erupted in a blaze of yellow light, that washed over the vehicles up and down the streets for almost a city block, at first seemingly harmless before the transformation began. Freedonians found themselves turning before their horrified eyes into beasts! Legs became furred or scaled, nails lengthened into claws, and before a minute had passed the streets were filled with running, baffled and wailing dogs, cats, horses, cattle and at least twenty other kinds of animal, the cage now filled with very confused-looking people staring at their new limbs and feeling uncertainly at their new clothes. "This is the first work..of the Transmogrifier!" the man proclaimed gleefully, raising his arms above the chaos he had begun!

    Being Yourself(IC)

"Yeah, that's true" Subito muttered in answer, more than a little dismissively. As the movie wound to its grand close, even the dour Rodrigo showed at least a little interest, a look of anxiety playing briefly across his face as things looked to be headed for the worst, and faint relief as the day was saved, the evil Nazi steamboat vanquished for all time, and Humphrey Bogart's character and Katherine Hepburn's character made it through. "That wasn't too bad" he said crisply, his head dropping down to bury itself in the pages of an old Asimov book. Pavor and Broma were busy looking into each other's eyes for several moments after the movie's last crescendo had fully passed, smiling gently at one another. With a quick clearing of the throat the matriarch got easily to her feet, collecting the plates and cups that had migrated into the room for Pavor to bustle into the kitchen and begin the quick work of cleaning them. With a bright look she turned to the guests "Ah, now, what would you like to do next?" almost immediately Galanta threw up one muscular arm followed by "I know! We could go and play basketball!" Subito laughed heartily at that "Ha! Sis I think we should let the food settle, maybe we could play Sequence for a bit?" his elder sister rolled her eyes "Pfft, you've gotten soft in the time you've been goin' to Claremont Bito" The young paragon seemed to whip his head around like an owl's "Oh yeah?!" Rodrigo sighed wearily and sank deeper into his easy chair.
  3. Press on is my vote as well. We can't very well go and fight Madame Malaise without some idea where she is or what exactly she does and why.

    Shadow Man is back

Sure thing! How does Red Moon suit your schemes?
  5. Huzzah! May we see this ship through to many more grand years. Thanks for your thoughtful and well-considered governance, Ref Team!
  6. GM "Y-!" the OVERTHROW agent began in horror before the shards of light slammed into her, crushing the air out of her lungs and leaving her to slump unconsciously to the floor. The beginning of whatever she had been about to say the only sound that got further than eight feet whole and echoing, and it faded almost instantly. The agent walking just outside the room where the hostages were missed Silver Spider entirely, focusing on the empty and eerily quiet hallway, creeping forward with their FAMAS trained forward, eyes sliding from side to side in preparation for some unseen assailant. Besides the one he would never see coming, that is. "Not entirely true, Omen" Agent Silas explained evenly as the trio walked on "We will of course keep things that aren't important to the mission ahead close to the vest, but anything that could help you accomplish it we'll freely inform you of." Tapping the crosswalk button he went on "As you've agreed to help anyway, welcome aboard. We'll stroll down to the Federal Building and extend this invitation to your potential team-mates. By the way, how do you feel about Russia?" he asked casually, agent Anthea adding mildly "Also, do you have any reservations about going underwater?"
  7. Very well, DC25 Toughness save for Immaterial: 10. Oh yeah, he's down. Round 3: Angcrist:Bruised(x3)-GM Voltage: Bruised(x1), 3HP Stormbreaker: Unharmed, 0HP Angcrist Moves back onto the ceiling using Wall-Crawling, and attacks Voltage for all those times he shot him with lightning: 27. That hits, DC27 TOU save please.
  8. GM Parsinkle practically glowed "A king I am not, but a king I shall soon be. Come along, my soldiers, let us depart, and show these visitors my generosity!" he called over to the sullen squad, who reluctantly parted from their game and set to work, binding the rebels together as they got ready to march. Parsinkle had gotten two more horses for his guests, who were perfectly pliable to the humans. The trip through the peaceful green woods took barely enough time for the sun to dip into the sky before a massive red castle, on which a hundred bright flags waved from a hundred parapets, appeared around the bend of the appearing and disappearing road, gleaming in the sunlight like a red pyramid. It was set partially in the cliffs overlooking a river that had somehow sprung into existence nearby, a small town clustered around the mighty stone edifice like barnacles on an aging fishing boat. Dramatic lances of sunlight stabbed through the light clouds, illuminating it and the small valley around it with a gilded glow. The town was well-stocked with people, and joyous song erupted from the crowded streets as Parsinkle, the prisoners and the guests came through the arching copper gate, the elfin subjects and wandering gangs of Redcaps lining the streets and saluting their ruler upon his triumphant return. Passing grandly though the cobbled streets and waving to his gathered subjects, up the long slope into the castle, which was richly furnished to a nearly modern level of comfort. Even the stone walls were almost warm to the touch, and the water that passed in streams through some of the rooms was beautifully heated, and all of the towering hallways carried the sound of soft, gentle music. Apartments were provided for the humans, Parsinkle granting them rooms at the summit of towers, which gave them a truly spectacular view of wooded hills without a mountain in sight, and a river that could not have possibly existed on Earth.
  9. Cannot possibly make that save, and as these are minions she goes down like a ninepin. Feel free to Move along. Silver Spider is up.

    Flying Flag[IC]

"Yeah, that's a good point. In this city you need all the news you can get, never know when Dr. Mayhem will start busting up around ASTRO Labs after all" Subito agreed, thumbing through some piano pieces with great dexterity. He needed to get back into practice. His fingers froze, and he glanced sharply at Serge, eyes narrowing briefly before he blinked and looked sheepishly and apologetic at his friend. "Yeah, I've been thinking about that...something Shakespearean, you know? But kinda obscure, not like his real famous ones."
  11. Right, King's turn once more. Going to Attack one of them with his Guantlets. Power Attack(+-3) Roll: 19. That hits. DC23 TOU save for the Super-MAX Crusader: 18. Bruised and dazed. Move Action into the fog. Crow is up.
  12. Heraldo soared elegantly through the air, a glowing trail of golden smoke following in his wake as he swept over the rooftops of Freedom City's southern area. He had been taking recent steps to try and get a feel for what patrolling was like in practice rather than just hearing what his schoolmates said about it. The districts close to his family home and Claremont Academy had been the most obvious place to start, and so Southside had a new flyer in its sky. He kept a close eye on the ground not far below and a careful ear out for any calls for help or cries of distress, his powerful hearing giving him a definite boost in his ability to find people in trouble. 'This feels..right.' he thought, as he prepared to swing around and do another sweep of the rambling, slightly rundown district when suddenly at the edge of his hearing he caught the sounds of labored breathing, uncertain footfalls and the noise of someone collapsing onto a hard surface. At once he stopped, perfectly vertical in the air with his clothes and grand Banner fluttering in the breeze, before whirling around and darting off towards where the sounds came from, a grimy and water-staned roof on which the sprawled figure of a man could be seen lying. With a faint rush of wind and a distant cry like soldiers answering a call to arms, along with a thud of his booted feet, El Heraldo landed neatly on the dirty surface next to the other boy, kneeling quickly next to him and placing a gloved hand on his shoulder "Hola! I am the Herald of the Blue Dame of Puerto Rico, do you need help getting down from here, or medical attention? You seem unwell citizen" he added anxiously, glancing over Elias with concern from behind his cloth mask. "Will you tell me your name?"
  13. Wave-Eye had barely had time to move before the metal man busting through the wall was sent crashing down, stepping forward a little belatedly and exclaiming "Teotl! What other wretches were you dealing with, Scallop?" coming into the room and seeing the fallen would-be extortionists he gave a soft growl that sounded oddly like a snicker "Well, not as bad as the Serpent People, twisted fiends from the utter darkness or all-consuming terrors of the deep I expected, but foul company to keep nonetheless, eh Christian?" he commented drily to Gabriel, his heavy clawed feet creating small clouds of plaster dust as he stalked into the other room, examining the senseless 'Hahaha' villains with slow turns of his massive black eyes. Calling over his shoulder to the two humans he said "We might need to use that freight truck you offered us after all, Scallop. Where is it kept? Gabriel, how many can you carry?"
  14. DC27 Toughness save: 21! Another Bruise. Stormbreaker is up.
  15. That is an excellent point. However, wouldn't necessarily be a switch, could be written as an upgrade in what tools she had at her disposal. With the gifts of Ogoun she'd be able to turn her talents to making things she never could with the 'mundane' equipment at her disposal, meaning that for someone with her limited resources it would be a very real Godsend.
  16. GM With an electronic blare as its systems were met with those smashing blows of sound that dented is carapace, twisted wires clean in half and pulverized at least one vital stretch of electronics, the robot stumbled to the ground in a shower of sparks. It ground out an incoherent moan of low noise before beginning a spastic twitching of its limbs, clearly unable to even move under its own power for the time being. Behind where the robot had so rudely intruded, three unconscious figures could be seen collapsed across the floor. One wore a neat grey flannel suit and domino mask, with the insignia of two circles emblazoned on the chest, while another was all in black leathers with an opaque motor cycle helmet clutched in one hand. The third was in more classic skin-tight spandex that was black at the middle and grew to grey across the rest of the body. They had fallen apparently with some violence, crashing into and over a desk that had dust covers placed neatly over it, the suited man having left a deep imprint in the drywall.
  17. He has +13 Defense, so that makes it..a DC36 TOU save. He cannot possibly make that, let's see how well he does: 27. Amazing. Alright, failed by 9, so Dazed, Bruised and injured. The others make their Initiative rolls, and will get up next round if they make their saves: Rubber-Burner: 21. Blackout: 7. Combine: 10.

GM "Ah! Well thought, you're a credit to your instructors agent." Medraut said approvingly, taking Dyrnwyn by the hilt and looping its belt around his arm, danging it from that limb. "Yes, I do have a back way out for you. Now that we know which Fey Queen this is, we can warp and bend the spells that surround this lake, and get a signal down there. We've managed to fix that teleporter we recovered from those ruins under the White Horse, but I do not want to risk any chance that the signal will be disrupted by magic, so the mages we called here will need time to unravel the enchantments over the lake. You will get a call on this transmitter" he handed her a small plastic device that looked like a jewel on a slender chain "It will pulsate twice when the time is right. Press the button on the underside if you want to get out quickly. Of course, leaving by the front door with the Afanc, your friend and agents Cigfa and Nisien would be the optimal result, but that is hardly likely when dealing with the Otherworlders" he smiled glumly "As for that skeleton above the water...ask about that if you can. This must have something to do with that old giant Bendigeidfran. But what would they want with his bones? That cauldron was broken and melted long ago..." he scowled at the now-invisible apparition that hovered above the water leering dully into the distance.

    Riffsational!(IC)

GM Several minutes later... With a resounding chord, the last song ended, to a chanting, screaming roar of applause that echoed throughout the park. After a few moments of pleading with Riff for "One more song!" the audience reluctantly began to disperse. The road crew began the brisk work of disassembling the various sound equipment that littered the stage, and at long last Constance stopped singing along to the music, having found out how to change her tone and pitch to match it with no little glee. She led the way to the stage, calling back eagerly she laughed easily, her earlier fear and uncertainty evidently much abated. Warren was suddenly accosted by the living sound wave, who greeted him sprightly
  20. "Well, that'll keep things going for sure. Real fluid too" Subito commented, sounding quite admiring, though he winced at the mention of an 'unfortunate case of mistaken identity' "Ugh. I can guess what you mean. Good to know that got settled amicably, it'd be a shame to have an enemy like that." He glanced back at the book, suddenly starting when a passage caught his eye. "Hey, John, listen to this: uh...blahblahblah...assistance given to Simon Bolivar...blahblahblah..lemme find it, I know I..aha! 'Or particular interest to scholars of political science is the fact that each of the chevals of the loa Ogoun, as found by diaries, letters and public statements to have possessed similar political leanings, consistently supporting movements and leaders that their predecessors aided in their time.' It goes on for" he flipped through the pages "about ten more pages. Anyway, do you think that might apply to national spirit-bearers too? That way, I could find out if the, well if the envoy changed any." he looked slightly abashed as he went on, leaning on the table with elbows to support himself "I know, they do change over time, but in a real' consistent way! Lady Liberty, for example, is always about Freedom. That Freedom can get...weird and twisted sometimes but that's always her thing, you know? Anyway, what do you think about that?" he asked eagerly.

    Being Yourself(IC)

Galanta cringed slightly when Victoria reminded her of Subito's powerful hearing "Right, yeah" she glanced back at her brother "Well, he rarely hears much else when he's watching movies, I don't think he noticed. Anyway, thanks. That's good to hear. He can get...weird sometimes, you know?" she shrugged noncommittally and settled back for the movie. Subito glanced over at Serge for a moment "Hm? Oh, he's usually like that. This is pretty good for him, usually he's calling me and Galanta 'book-hating Philistines' and stuff." he snorted in derision, returning to the action unfolding onscreen "Thinks we're both terrible because we spend more time exercising than reading Ender's Game or Foundation." Rodrigo heard his name being said and looked over automatically, and for an instant his and his cousin's eyes met. For a horrible moment the tension in the room suddenly seemed to be reaching a critical point...and then vanished as they both sullenly shifted in their seats and turned their heads back to the screen, the exploits of Charlie and Rose far more interesting than their own animosity.
  22. Due to Max's absence, she asked me to remove Tenebrous from the fight.
  23. GM Tenebrous quickly realized that while the chaos would keep the Crusaders off their guard, it would also put the citizens nearby in grave danger from not only the muscleheads but the flame-throwing White Knight too! Swooping through the air down to ground level, she began to get to work evacuating the Freedonians unfortunate enough to be living or wandering around the site of battle. Pushing herself to the limits of her power she used her force field to form a darkly-glowing open crate in which her passenger were carried beyond the battlezone. The streets and houses around the Heights were sparsely populated and the people had already figured out a donnybrook involving supers was underway, which made it thankfully easy to move the scared, confused people, many of whom had grabbed suitcases and put together boxes of personal belongings almost on reflex. Many were already beginning to hurriedly descend down fire escapes as the thuds and rumbles and fog alerted the Fens to what was going on. In case White Knight or some opportunists tried anything against them, Lillian remained with the evacuees, floating above them like the Obsrosos itself. Even the most desperate thieves quailed at the sight, slinking back into the alleyways to get to their hiding places to watch the fight. Or what could be seen of it.
