Around a partial mouthful of celery and tomato the King of Suits said gravely "I would agree with the good captain Young Britannia. I have met a few speedsters before and they tend to..not enjoy doing such delicate work in tandem with slower-moving people. Besides, we could do with another face at the University. I fear Stormbreaker and I may have left a not entirely positive impression on the faculty. Also," he added as he swallowed noiselessly "having someone with your puissant capabilities would doubtless be of great help, if our investigation leads to a fight. Mr. Xavier is quite capable, I am sure he'll be back with a lot to work with!" Neatly skewering a pile of mushrooms he chewed them with obvious and profound relish, eyes partially closed and jaws moving slowly.

A guttural growl left Heraldo's throat as the snake-man sorcerer escaped from his grip, which changed mid-growl into a yelp of surprise as the green mystic snakes were formed and launched themselves at him, winding and coiling about his fabulously costumed body as he struggled like Laocoön the Trojan had before him, wrestling against the magic snakes but hampered by the several emotions swirling in his blood and brain: frustration at his ineffectiveness in the battles before this one along with the fact that the sorcerer had wriggled free, startlement at the abrupt reversal, and simple fear at the fact that snakes were hissing right next to his face, their fangs reminding him horribly of the Tethys vampire and her gleaming jaws. "Glow!" he shouted as he fell heavily face-first onto the floor in a struggling and writhing mass "I have a plan: just leave me here and go beat him to a pulp!"

Still submerged, Wave-Eye was in an excellent place to observe Temperance's creation of the icy prison, murmuring to himself in awe at the sight as the water cooled and formed itself in a block around the mighty Aspect of Leviathan. He hadn't even expected the sorry band to be able to dent the Terror of the Seas, and seeing it reeling and then enclosed in ice was utterly mind-boggling to him. Still, it wasn't bested yet, and he knew that if they let up they might well lose the lead they had on the creature. Coiling his tail into a corkscrew, he tossed the Conch back over his shoulder, bent his head forward, and shot towards the aspect like an arrow, aiming a punch from one of his powerful claws straight into a stretch of the massive thing that was still exposed to harm. "Ye Leviathan, I ask your pardon! But I cannot allow you to attack this place, I have sworn to defend it!" he called out, though he knew that the beast would neither listen to him or really care about what he was saying.

GM The captured Freedonians quickly hustled into the dark embrace of the towering tree at the edge of the campsite, its shadow and low-hanging branches providing ample cover from the wild eyes currently rolling around the flaming tents, dashing bands of Redcaps colliding and struggling briefly with each other in a flail of hairy limbs, a clatter of pikestaves and short barked curses. Parsinkle was cheerfully riding around the encampment, whirling a mass of coiled ropes around his head that he now and then loosed at small squabbles of the coarse dwarves, entangling them and lashing them to the cage with great laughs that rang horribly through the night air that glittered with a thousand fireflies and utterly random sparkles that made it hell to try and sleep in. "Come, my comrades!" he cried gaily "Let us bind these renegades, and show them what we do to traitors! There will be a fire like none that has been seen before in this Elfland!"

Unarmed Power Attack(+-2) against the Aspect of Leviathan: 21. DC25 TOU save for it.

"Yeah, I think I got some of my blood on it too" Heraldo acknowledged, flying past Glow in a corkscrew under and around her telekinetic smash to get at the snakeman, balling one of his red-gloved hands into a fist which began to blaze with a golden fire. Hurling himself into the Claremonter's serpentine foe he slammed the glowing fist against his head with an explosion of light and a thudding echo that rang out through the empty hallway, shouting "Don't listen to her, snake-man! Continue to fight, press on for the children that you would steal to get your claws into their parents! By all means, proceed with this infamy!" 'Subito, that is stupid to say YesIknowfightingwehavetostophim!'

'YES! We get to go help out! More importantly, we get to give these soldiers a victory' The herald bowed slightly to the commander "Whatever you give us we're glad to have, sir! Me and m'darling Agnes wi-" In hindsight, Subito thought, blushing yet again at the kiss, I should probably have expected that. He glanced at the ground and self-consciously smoothed out his crisp blue uniform('I kinda do look good in blue...') for a few seconds before regaining his composure, willingly letting go of the gun so Agnes could examine it and looking back up at the Commander, "-ll..we will, uhm..we'll take care of this for you!" he said smartly, hoping that they could get under way with all speed and away from people who thought he and Agnes were married. Young Britannia in this facade seemed to be more comfortable with kissing him than his own mother.

Delaying until they move closer into the fog, then moving out of the cloud and throwing an explosive card into it. ...and now I realize that this fight will go nowhere and do nothing. Professionalism!!!!!! Okay, they're down. Going to say that Rene and the captive get out of the camp no problem.

GM The lashing whirlwind did a number on the aging abandoned hospital, slashing and scoring the concrete walls, floor and ceiling to the point where chunks of it went sailing through the air and bounced madly around the hallway in a hail of shards. The shimmering..thing that guarded Dr. Green was at first taken off guard by the slicing air, before with an eerie glow it seemed to distend and warp in ways that no solid body every should, dodging and lunging away from the attack with great speed and a breathy mutter. Springing forward it hurled itself again at Sotrmbreaker, its left hand coiling into a lance and stabbing directly at her heart. The metal man was less lucky, and much less light on his feet, several divots and long cuts carved into his body in a matter of moments, with one that seemed fit to tear him clean in half! With a tremendous effort and a groan like iron in pain it flooded itself with streams of liquid metal from within itself, sealing the worst of the cracks with a hiss and a loathsome smell. Glaring at the swashbuckling dragon for an instant it snorted like a furnace before leaping up onto the ceiling, it dug its hands into the surface and kicked out at Voltage with a powerful movement blow aimed at his side, just beneath the hauberk of his ribs. In the jungle, Dr. Green reached a small podium, on which he tapped his thumb for a few moments before being sealed into a blue shield, and was whisked away underground.

'You people have never been so hard to convince that sea monsters need killing! How did this come about!?' thought Wave-Eye frustratedly, though he remained placid on the surface, nodding his monstrous head slightly to the others and saying "I will do as you say. I cannot move worldly matter like Edge does, but I can pull things that move in the water quite well. I could lure it near the cage, and throw it in as well as you like." He shrugged, unsure how well that would come across. Edge's delegation to him and Jubatus of the task of conducting Philos to Freedom Hall surprised him, and he definitely showed it. He bowed "It will be an honor, Edge. Philos will come to no harm, I swear it. Philos," he added, turning to the Farsider zoologist with a respectful look "if you mention this matter to the League, they will be certain to deal with it, and given your apparent expertise will very likely take your advice into account." To Jay he nodded briskly "If you will lead the way, Jubatus, I will follow." he glanced back at the monster out to sea for a brief, sour moment before returning his attention to the others on the beach. It could wait, as could he. 'Ah, that creature aside, this day looks to be a better step forward than I even dreamed!'

GM The lesson by necessity carried on down the hill, the Order agents packing up neatly after themselves, taking their usual deft care not to leave any evidence of their passing, with the very grass springing back up from under their feet as they processed down the hillside towards the glittering body of water below. As they came closer to their destination, Blodeuwedd and Subito could make out the forms of small boats and a few catamarans plying the lake. After an around thirty minutes brisk walk, the group arrived at a small parking lot where the Amddiffynnwrs deposited their picnicking supplies in a few waiting vehicles before making their way down through the woods to the water's edge. Supervisor Medraut took out a stubby cigar and lit it, taking a deep draught before blowing out the incense-like smoke with relish, the sunlight seeming to jump and leap about the lake. He turned to Blodeuwedd <"I and agent Branwen will attempt to..disturb the spell over the lake. That will awaken the Afanc, which agent Nisien and LlÅ·r will render invisible to the people on and around the water. A scheduled disturbance involving a herd of deer will draw the attention of the local rangers away. Meanwhile, your friend here"> he gestured to Subito with the hand holding the cigar <"will enter the lake and engage the creature. Bring it back whole and alive, and we will get it to a holding cage we have prepared and invisible here"> he tapped something neither of them could see just above his head <"and inspect the Afanc for whatever signs of tampering we can. The make of the spell that grasps at its brain would be most helpful, something I believe your Chessboard would be excellently suited to doing"> he smiled brightly at Blodeuwedd and Subito, another wreath of smoke curling out over the lake. "Do either of you have any questions?"

Rodrigo seemed satisfied by that answer, nodding thoughtfully to himself and smiling in thanks to Serge as he turned back to his carefully-chosen cheeses. Broma and Pavor looked distinctly grave at the mention of the Komitet, with the matriarch saying to Victoria "Alas, that name is all too familiar to us as well. My father was a KGB agent for many years. He was discovered when he and several others were caught plotting to assassinate the Patriot by the police. He was..unapologetic." she said, face hardened slightly. Pavor gently took one of her hands and whispered in her ear, and with a sigh she relaxed and smiled a little at him "You're right, my dear" turning back to Vick she said gravely "My apologies for bringing that up, young lady. I dare say you didn't want to get an anecdote from my past. How is the food? I had Galanta ask Subi-ask Bito" she winked at the young paragon as he nearly chocked on his food with rage "what kind of things you liked".

Catalyst can't find anything else to see nearby, just an average Saturday night in Freedom City where exact doubles of people show up and start fights while film-noir rejects get their hands on silenced jackhammers.

GM The OVERTHROW agents obliged the photogenic hero, a deafening series of retorts exploding from the roof followed by thin trails of steam as the snipers fired from their concealed positions, one bullet whizzing past Amir's head while the other three struck home directly into his face, crashing flat against him without harm. Likewise, much larger plumes followed the launching of rockets from amid the Federal Building's pristine pillars, two of which went sailing elegantly into the sea, the third slamming directly into his chest.
-
Seeing as KD's on a brief hiatus, moving on to the Guards! Moving on to the seven guards outside the Federal Building. All attack Asad. Their attack rolls: 14, 20, 19, 10, 15, 8, 8. So 4 hit, 3 snipers and one rocket launcher. The first 4 are the snipers, the latter 3 are the rocket-launcher-bearers. EDIT: Failed to take into account Asad's IMPV TOU, so only the rocket launcher does anything. As he's using Ultimate TOU, that anything becomes nothing as well. Three at them. Then ten. The other 8 guards make their moves. 4 more into the halls, leaving 3 to guard the city government employees.

Move action up to Iapetus, making a Grapple attempt(Because of how well THAT's bound to go). Attack roll: 28! Grapple roll: 38!

Subito listened avidly, well used to the idea of being given an important job as a chance to prove oneself. 'She did say at the bar that she hadn't exactly gone on many missions' he thought while jotting down a few notes on a napkin "So, wait. They can grow that big?" he asked in astonishment, staring down at the lake below "...Whoa. Um, I'm glad we don't need t'fight anything as fearsome as that!" He was a quick study about the strange aquatic creatures, making sure to ask as many questions as he could think of. He didn't want to jeopardize something like this just because he wanted to get to the hunting.

Earth-N Eldritch 2, "Earth-Yoruba", Ardhi('Earth', Swahili) In 1966, shortly after the formation of the Black Panther Party in the United States, the Freedom League was in Oakland, California dealing with an intrusion into their dimension by a bizarre draconic entity when they encountered one of numerous partially-stable portals to another dimension, and as a matter of course investigated it in case it held some terrible danger for their world. What they found was quite unlike what they had expected. The world was as vibrant with life and geographically varied as Earth-Prime according to Star Knight's recordings gathered from orbit, and the tectonic movements were quite familiar. What the land held, however, was staggeringly different. The Freedom League found no trace of the modern European and Asian and American civilizations, instead meeting scattered city-states, little kingdoms holding less than a few hundred square miles of land or wandering tribes, who seemed to not have progressed past the technology level present in the Bronze Age. All in all, nothing they had not encountered many times before. It was only when they turned the telescopic lenses of their spaceplane to the deceptively familiar-looking continent of Africa and flew down to investigate that they found something truly surprising. The jungles were filled with strange animals and discreet tribes unlike anything found on Earth-Prime; across the savannas herds and prides and packs rambled, often arguing with each other in human speech while hunters walked among them without fear. The hilly land of Kenya was filled with forges and dotted with iron cities through which a never-ceasing torrent of people from the bountiful fields and pastures went, while an old sorceress hidden in the mountains worked her own subtle crafts. In the northern deserts a rider all in white astride a white horse searched for wanderers lost in the sands to aid, and the city of Timbuktu was the center of a tremendous empire with with cities whose spires reached the clouds. In the midlands there crept eternally thirsty and vicious flightless dragons through the jungle bemoaning the death of their parent Isa Bere, lions bickered over arcane laws while buffalo in their struggles with one another tore waterways with their hooves, the Masai tribe marched to battle against the encroaching Suk resplendent in copper and iron while drums thundered from the sky. In the south coast were vaguely-modern cities filled with enchanted lamps, spindly rails holding up iron trains that roared over the sheer towers, and meeting places for trade from every sea-faring nation on the continent, ships of every kind arrayed in its staggering harbors, with even Atlantean vessels emerging from the sea bearing goods for trade. Egypt was a marvel even to the eyes of the Scarab; with far grander metropolises than could have existed on Earth-Prime, a Valley of the Kings that held pyramids and tombs by the hundred, mighty priest-sorcerers and warriors bearing enchanted weapons wandering the land along with the thousands of gods, while the Pharaoh journeyed to the rival Nubian kingdom heralded by an aspect of Anti himself. Dakana was a land of wonders, the daka crystals its wealth and might here as in the world the League hailed from, with the Dakanans living in peace and prosperity beneath a protective force-field alongside a clan of intelligent gorillas. From what the League observed and intercepted Dakana was in the final stages of constructing a rudimentary space craft for exploring the solar system. A later visit with the White Lion M'Zale as ambassador discovered that they had a few pieces of technology almost at the level of the Farsiders, though cruder and much less plentiful compared to the silver city's glory. The relatively peaceful land of Nigeria was chosen for the place of first-contact, Halogen serving as representative of the League using a translator built by Daedalus. After a hesitant initial meeting with the elders of a quiet outlying village they were conducted to the capital of the Yoruban, which they found in the midst of a boundlessly enthusiastic feast celebrating their Orisha, who had descended from Olorun's side to congratulate the Yoruban king and queen on their ascension to the throne. The divinities welcomed the Freedom League in style with a feast that lasted several days, much to the Sea-King Theseus and Star Knight's embarrassment and frustration. When at last the Ori of thunder god Shango and manifold goddess Oya had gotten them to fly up into the heavens in high spirits, leaving less enthralling and invigorating drummers and dancers to continue the party(it was one of Tectonic's greatest dreams to figure out how to drum like Shango did), the League got some answers from the only slightly tipsy messenger Elegua. The forging of the great Pact by Earth-Prime's Master Mage had had its effect here, like all other places. However, only a few years afterward the people of Africa had grown lonely and distraught, the sealing of dimensional barriers meaning that they no longer had the companionship and guidance of the Ori, or the kindness and protection of the glorious Malaika. For all that, there were still powerful and power-hungry magicians, evil spirits walking seen and unseen among humans and terrors like the dragons and beastmen. Heroes were needed to fight them, and though many were quick to give their all, on their own they were all too human, the Master Mage being almost constantly separated from common humanity fighting monsters from otherworldly abysses and most lesser magicians not having the strength to impart much power except to weapons. At last, the people of Africa made their decision, and the priests called their holy ones fully back into the world. Empowered by the divine God and His mighty servants, the forces of evil in the world were matched, and cautious excursions from the nigh-utopian nation of Dakana gave them another edge that few threats could stand up to. Returning to Earth-Prime, the League was bombarded with eager questions, and when news got out about the nature of 'New Yoruba', as one over-eager journalist called it, the surprisingly hospitable dimension became a Mecca for many Americans during the tumultuous 60's and 70's. As well as a tourist destination, it served for a while as a symbol of African potential. Vanishingly little of their technology or non-magical power was beholden to the divinities, and while there were disagreements between the peoples of north and south, east and west, none of them would have dreamed that they were superior or that another was inferior because of where they came from, what they wore or possessed. There were dangers in that world, but like on Earth-Prime there was no shortage of valiant souls who instantly sprang to defend visitors. Unbeknownst to many, the loa are considering sending a champion of theirs from that world to Earth-Prime as a supporter to Siren. The conflict between the queen of the seas' and Baron Samedi's chevals has so far provided an interesting struggle, but they know that without more players on the board things will stagnate. Rumor among them has it that the forge-master Ogoun has already begun to search for this new champion...
-
Can't make that, so they all fall down. Go ahead and narrate their defeat!
-
If you want suggestions for the "Something attracted Ogoun's attention" bit, how about she started using her mechanical skills to protect her family's neighborhood?
