Subito scowled at the mention of 'snake blood' "There have been a lot of schemes by the Serpent People lately" he commented to Glow "Maybe they're getting desperate? Anyway, you" he pointed at the cook with the banner "How were you contacted by El Sierpe's men? Why did you put that stuff in the food?" he slammed the butt of the flagpole onto the hard roof before leaning on it, glaring down at the chef, "And why, in all of this, did it seem like such a good idea? I'm serious, how did that happen?" Hearing more about what El Sierpe did at least gave him an idea of the scope of their enemy, which did wonders for not making him seem like an all-encompassing evil they could never beat. "We" he said, gesturing to himself and Glow "defeated El Diablo on his ship when he was capturing and tormenting people who were trying to escape him, people being kept here right now, alive. If anyone, we can beat the boss along with his underlings! He is not to be treated lightly? Well neither are we!"

Ungagging Vile, as pointed out by SC.

That's in S2T, and yes. Sorry, forgot to mention that, I'll fix it.

Landing with a sharp thud on his booted feet, Marceau inspected the door closely. Smiling at the Penitent when he asked about lockpicking. Producing a bulky multitool from one of the hidden recesses of his belt, he twirled it between his fingers, the flashing metal distracting from his deft unfolding of the appropriate bundle of thin rods. "This shouldn't take much time at all" he assured Bram, kneeling beside the door and carefully testing the lock with the rods, searching out which ones best fit and would have the most success in bypassing the venerable security device. Finding two that suited it most admirably, the King of Suits said quietly "Now, let us see if..." the remainder of the sentence lost as he bent close to his work, minutely arranging the picks to try and hit that tumbler-pushing sweet spot, a far-away look in his eyes.

Lorenzo had been unbound and had the gag removed at the stern demand of the prison-guard, though Subito had managed to convince him to let the stocky youth watch over him for most of the day, to prevent 'mischief'. Meanwhile, El Heraldo was watching Lorenzo like a hawk in the fort's haphazard stockade and cells. Leaning against the rough and unpolished wooden wall, he wrestled with the obvious questions: should he ask the servant of the Serpent People about the Cult of the Coldblooded? Would Lorenzo have any reason to answer truthfully, if he answered at all? It's...this is pretty hard he thought grumpily, his arms folded across his chest as he stared through the bars narrow-eyed at the prisoner If I don't at least try to find things out from this guy, we might not find out something crucial until it's too late. But if I ask and he just lies we could end up in even worse trouble You must take that risk resounded the voice of the Blue Dame in his mind Do what you can to find out what he knows, and you can determine the truth with the Spirit of Justice, whose bearer has, as she said, a perfect memory Shifting his back so it would stop being bothered by a knothole he abruptly jerked away from his position, walked up to the bars and called over to Lorenzo "Hey, what was so funny back there, on the carriage? You know something about this Cult of the Coldblooded?"

You find the maintenance hatch pretty easily by touch, it's wholly invisible in the mirror-finish metal box though. Only its hinges and a tiny crevice give any clue it's there.

Marceau raised an eyebrow at this comment and holding his hand over his mouth coughed once before saying "Excuse me sir, but that isn't necessarily bound to happen. Not saying I could beat..whatever it is in a stand-up fight, but I have some light devices that might be helpful. I can make more of them too, quite easily" he added, sounding almost as hurt as he looked. Reaching down to his belt, he whipped out the grapple gun with a clink and a whirl as he flourished it, grinning "As for your escape problems, I found a way up to the surface through this very tunnel!" he pointed at the ceiling with a red- gloved hand "Just follow me, and we can get you and this sorry band-" blinking in mock surprise hew added to the other cultists "Present company excepted, I beg your pardon" "Anyway! Follow me, I will go up, drop down the grapple gun, and help up each of you in turn" turning to Silhouette he said "Could you help me boost them up? I doubt I have the upper-body strength to lift all of them" he explained vaguely apologetically.

GM Andrews looked shiftily at that two heroes for a moment and opened his mouth to say something. "Well, it..." was as far as he got in that vein, however, as he quickly doffed his long cloak(revealing austere business attire underneath) and tossed it over a bench, walking quickly over to a previously hidden cabinet mounted on the wall and opening it to reveal a ring of keys. Tossing them to Silhouette he said hurriedly "Well, when the messenger learns we have disobeyed Apep's command and let the prisoners go free, we will, er...we will all be devoured as punishment, unless we can escape this place in time..." he looked around, eyes widening as something struck him "...and any route out besides the main doors is unknown to me. That way is watched constantly, there is no hope of escape that way, except maybe for you" he added to the flattening heroine "You sir," he addressed the King of Suits with a slight return of his former stuffiness "are as far as I could tell a mere mortal like us, it would tear you to pieces in moments" he spread his hands and shrugged "Our lives, it seems, are in your hands. How do you propose we escape?" he asked with a challenging air. Jane rolled her eyes, but most of the other snake cultists looked a lot more uncertain about their chances, even as most of them reluctantly shed their cloaks. A faint trembling was in the air. The distant sound of freight trucks could be heard overhead.

But it was such a perfect plan! Mock the bad guy, and perhaps they will become so cross they make a mistake! Reflex roll: 14! Yeah, none too nimble.

Should I make any rolls Shofet? Search of Notice or anything?

Pulling his long cape a little closer around himself, King of Suits whistled at the sight of the long-range paintball gun Though really, maybe I should put a damper on that. Not like it's some kind of amazing thing, just a paintball gun he thought idly as he considered what Catalyst had told him. He took a quiet sip of the coffee, closing his eyes for a moment to savor it. Giving a brief look to the chemical lab far below, the reddening light of the sun bouncing off its windows forcing him to squint and shade his eyes, at last saying in a slightly gruffer tone than he had used before "Now that I think of it, I have an idea: you have a penchant for fighting over long ranges, aye? Well, I prefer short distances. What if I take up position on that ledge down there," he pointed down at a broad outcropping on the roof of a much smaller electronics shop below them and across the street "and you cover the exits and entrances from up here? That way you could stop any of our thieves from escaping my traps, and I would catch anyone who evaded your steady hand and keen eye" he tuned and smiled cheerfullt at her "What do you say, Catalyst?"

Subito spoke up immediately. This, at least, he could help explain. Beginning eagerly and rapidly before settling into a more steady pace he said "Well sir, it was recovered recently by a collector of things like this who's in with with m'lady here. It was thought to be some kind of mystical artifact until a couple of weeks ago, right before it drew a disgruntled Avian gentleman to it..somehow" he shrugged expressively "So...it seems fair to say that the Avians have some connection to them, though I have no idea if they could actually make things like this" he reached over at one arm of his old, patched coat before thinking better of it and simply removing and tossing the thing to drape over his broad shoulders. Fidgeting a little he glanced at Cerys, hoping he hadn't said anything she had wanted kept hidden. Urgh, should have asked! This'll teach me he thought in frustration.

With a hoarse and rasping voice the human said "My name is Mars, in honor of the human god who has granted them victories over each other" Nodding to the spokesman of the Redcaps, Marceau got to his feet and set off for the edge of the clearing, risking a glance between the bars of the cage to try and catch a glimpse of Rene. He was not just a little surprised at how complete the deception had been so far. I didn't expect it would be so easy to infiltrate these creatures. Could Rene's magic have some property that keeps it from being discovered by the Fey? he wondered as his disguised feet trudged across the sparkling grass. Rubbing his shoulders he wondered at something also troubling: he hadn't actually been required to swear anything. So what did those blows mean? he thought. Without much hope of untangling their meaning, he plodded over to the stately tree, and crouched down behind it, peering at the wood line only a few meters away.

Oh, DUH. Alright, changing post.

Almost sliding into the room, Wave-Eye observed the fight for a fleeting moment, deeply glad he wasn't called upon to fight that monster. Harrier was holding it back admirably, so he turned his glistening eyes to the pumping mechanism, dredging up everything he had learned over the years about such things to see what was wrong with it. Now...which one of these things is the trouble spot...that one? No, no. That isn't connected to the main...ahhhh, there we are! his face suddenly lit up with a fanged grin, and he tore open the conduits, preventing them from pushing more water into the beleaguered carrier, paying no heed to the brief gushing sprays that would have sent any human cough and spluttering backwards from the cold "I will do what I can to help get the water out!" he called to Harrier, flinching as the zombie-like drone's blood splattered onto him with the pike slash. "Do you want any help?"
-
That would work, and he's fast enough that he'd be able to go, fix the problem, and be back in time to help. Only concern of mine being that it strikes me as a little...mundane, I guess? reason for leaving the fight immediately.

Nah, I'll try for the Rolle. Knowledge(Technology) roll: 13! Thanks IC! Also, what specifically is wrong with them?

Marceau hoped Stormbreaker would be more graceful in victory than Aloysius was She isn't-yes, yes she did he thought wearily as he saw the all-too familiar look on her face I think that's the 700th time or so I've seena look like that. Where did my life go wr-OH WAIT I KNOW WHERE. Contorting his own face into an expression of helpless anger for the sake of form when she looked for it, he waved discreetly to the young woman who had resolved the issue, flashing a genuine smile at her when Silvia's back was turned. When Stormbreaker told him to get Vincent's luggage and secure his room, he shrugged "Alright, but only because he's hiding something. One moment" so saying, he leaped back into the room, grabbed the suitcase, closed it, and did what he could on such short notice to secure the room, sealing dresses and closets, putting everything he could under wraps. Rejoining the captain he fell in step, mentally checking off what he would need to ask Vincent about, being very careful to keep from jostling the suitcase more than he could avoid.

Oh come on, you can't ALL have the same excuse! :argh:

Eh, Stormbreaker takes care of that pretty handily, both are too scared to try anything.

Wait...Deep One eggs? Of course! "A lot too much, yeah" Subito said bluntly. To Glow he said "Alright, hop on. I'll get us to the Freedom Aquarium in no time flat! You" he swung around and pointed a heavy finger at Dahlia "you can stay here and wait for the cops to show up, which I'll make sure to ask a friend of ours to do. Don't hurt yourself trying to escape Crow's bonds, you'll just make them harder to get you out of" he added, offering an arm to Glow.
