It had been tiring work, keeping up a comfortable pace for the Penitent to follow, and as the King of Suits landed next to the towering soul-bearer he held up a hand, mutely requesting a rest as he panted for breath, arms braced against his legs. Once he had recovered, he looked up at the imposing grey building, surveying the floors as best he could from outside. He nodded slowly at the Penitent's suggestion, saying "Yes, that could work. I dare say they won't have gotten a new tenant so quic-" his face fell and he glanced at the other man for a moment "my apologies. Yes, that sounds like a good plan to me" he turned to Bram, and without hesitation raised his arms like a child asking to be picked up. I wonder how the others are doing? Bah! This is why I need to save up and buy a phone he thought frustratedly to himself.

King of Suits leaned back n the chair, eyes narrowing at this revelation. "So...you are saying you have no actual ties to the doings of this Cult? They're just friends of yours? Well in that case" he leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table "I will need to ask you who they are. We suspect they(or possibly associates of theirs) have sincerely adopted the belief that viruses are the true masters of this planet, and are using this particular illness to impress that upon the people of this city. The illness is a deadly conglomerate of several sicknesses; most of them thought eradicated, I might add, so you can imagine why that might cause a few problems" That said, he took a more neutral stance, watching Warren with care. This sounded entirely plausible, but it was also likely that Stills was just trying to save himself.

Subito nodded, he wanted to get this done with as quickly as possible. The past was turning out to be a rather grimmer place than he had thought it would. In an instant, the sorcerer was secured, the Banner's flag stretching out to curl snugly around his arms and legs, holding him fast. Placing the flagpole in its ring on his back, EL Heraldo nodded shortly to Young Britannia "Alright, I am ready. Let's go find someplace safe to rest" he said wearily, floating into the air and following the Spirit of Justice where she led. This'll be the easy part, right? Returning will totally be as easy as coming to this time, right? he thought hopefully as he rushed through the air Doubtless it will not came the solemn reply.

GM "You mean..you came here on purpose?" Janice sounded wholly incredulous "You've got guts, I'll say that for you" she seemed relieved that Rene hadn't come here by accident, asking with sudden excitement and a hushed voice "Are there oth-no, forget it" she said quickly, glancing at the open walls around them. Checking the dressing of two long red cut across the back of another woman's arms she explained to the painter "Not much that I haven't already told you. We stumbled through for one reason or another, wandered around this place for a bit because it was such a nice change from the muggy weather in Freedom City, and then from around every tree these..people wearing blood-red caps jumped out. They run faster than you would ever believe, and I don't doubt they ain't human" she said grimly, carefully tightening a bandage before patting her patient warmly on the shoulder, moving back to Rene. "As for how long. far as I can tell we've been held captive for three days, and it's been rough, I don't mind telling you, they barely let us eat or drink for longer than about ten minutes before we were on the move again" she shrugged "Why do you ask?"

Intent on the front door, the stocky teen jumped when his schoolmate's voice seemed to come out of nowhere. Man, she's good he thought admiringly. Aloud he said "Nah, thanks for being a good sport about it, Blodeu. And also for letting me help, it was a pleasure to do battle by your side," he added with a grin, slipping into the EL Heraldo voice for a moment before bursting into a fit of silent laughter. Abruptly remembering himself he quickly adopted a more serious mien. "Yeah, I'm in. With all this going on, gotta see this through at least" He blinked at her offer to treat him to breakfast, is mind flashing back to the recently-acquired funds nestled in his pocket. I could just..nah, I'll pay her back for it. No reason to be rude and go all 'Oh no, I can pay'. That decided, he smiled gratefully and nodded "That sounds awesome! Lead on, Miss Cerys, and let's see if this place is half as good as you say" he grinned widely "I warn you though, I 'm not easy to impress when it comes to eggs."

Subito nodded to Cerys, saying "That's an awesome talent, I've never been light on my feet" he turned back to Tona, and was about to speak when At those words, he spun around to look at her in astonishment, completely unprepared for the idea of a sentence like that coming from Cerys. Blushing furiously he ducked his head, rubbed the back of his head with a free hand, glanced up at her shyly and muttered "Er...that...uh..totally, Blodeu. That'd be..uh..that'd be neat to see!" he managed to stammer out, quickly turning on his heel and waving over Mali and Tona "Auditorium won't take long, but you'd need permission to use the Doo-the simulator first. I'll lead the way" he added, holding the door for the other three on the way out. It was a short jaunt over to the lofty auditorium, as the place was contained in the same building as the gym. Once there, Subito introduced Tona to the various faculty that took care of the place before leading her to the large workshops below the main red-curtained stage, giving a quick tour of the crafts rooms, especially the well-stocked woodcrafting stations. After that, he gave the new student a quick heads-up about one of the odder factors of the place. "You'll want to keep an ear out if you stay here alone, there's something weird about this place. I've noticed that shadows and sounds do weird stuff, like bending over my shoulder to watch what I'm doing when I'm not looking. That, and I think that door has it in for me" he added darkly, gesturing to a large, green-painted door that opened onto a staircase leading down "It keeps tryin' to close on me."

Subito had been busy digesting Lorenzo's words when Agnes had re-appeared with the Chains of Lemuria. Giving her a wave he listened as the two argued, eyes flicking back and forth as they spoke. He gave a sigh of relief when he learned that Young Britannia knew a way to return to their own time. I never even thought about that part he admitted to himself, rolling his eyes as the Blue Dame retorted None are surprised..though I confess to have been focused over-much on our central aim as well. A lesson for us both he gave a nod directed at the Spirit of Justice "A man named Broken Crow? I admit, I have never heard of him. Well, I dare say somebody will know where he is, might as well start" he turned to Lorenzo with a thoughtful look "I don't really think we should leave him here. Like he said, these people are of the same allegiance as him, no sense handing one of their strongest fighters back" lifting up the servant of the Serpent People, h carefully draped the man over his left shoulder "I say we take him with us, as he is he won't be nearly as dangerous if we keep our eyes on him, and he ought to answer for his crimes done in our period of history. Leaving him to rot in the past, even among people like him, would just be petty" he shrugged "Maybe there's more to it than that but I wouldn't know. What d'you say?" he asked Agnes seriously.

GM The search wasn't as thorough as it could have been(but considering the circumstances...), but after a brief sweep of the northern region of the vents they were in Marceau discovered a broad hatch set in the roof of a room leading to an alley a few blocks from apartments he had followed his quarry into. Now all they had to do was find the prisoners, defeat the snale-cult, and defeat whatever stood in their way! Meanwhile, Jane had dropped to the ground from the tunnel after getting the nod from Silhouette. Landing with a thud as she awkwardly sprawled to the cold black floor, she stood up with a little more drama than was strictly necessary, declaring loudly "Brethren! Behold! Our high priest attempts to deceive you! The infiltrators merely wish to make us release the prisoners, if we let them go we will no longer be under threat!" during this declaration she had swept her gaze around the room to meet those of her fellow practitioners, and ending by looking directly at the stunned high priest "So, either we let those wretches go free, or else we will all be taken into custody. What do you say, Fangspeaker Andrews?" she asked with a cocky smile that was audible as well as visible from Silhouette's perspective. Despite that, it was plain that she had at least got the others' attention from the greatly changed murmurs. The Fangspeaker appeared to have recovered himself, and he proclaimed scornfully "Bah! Acolyte Guan, do you really think we will surrender our bargaining chips so quickly? You shame us with your haste! No, we will await the coming glory of our god, and shall behold" his voice dropped to a spectral whisper as his eyes took on a far-seeing glaze "his Radiance...." A long and uncomfortable silence followed this, broken by Guan with a frustrated tone "Oh come off it, you know we won't be spared NOW!" a mutter of agreement washed around the crowd, who were slowly moving to stand beside Jane. "Really? Then why don't these infiltrators show themselves and ask in person? Why send a proxy, if they don't mean to just get us fighting amongst ourselves over their message?" the old man demanded triumphantly.

Taking a second to steady himself, a brief wave of recrimination rushing over him as shattered bodies stacked like cordwood and gold being weighed on scales flashed through his memory, Wave-Eye peered at the twitchy soldiers. Ah! They..might not be inclined to try and test me..might as well try to bluster through... Walking forward, a task complicated by a slight shakiness in his legs from the long fall, the triton approached the guards with splashing strides, calling out harshly "You two! You want heavy artillery, eh? Then step aside, and let me get you some! Or try to stop me and..face the consequences!" he tried to pull a snarling, vicious face for a second, but it faltered almost instantly. Skull Face's furious words still ringing in his ears. What am I doing?

GM Red Benny's was a mere common dive. Or so 'everyone' knew. It was a bright, cheerful place, with a manager who had a smile for everyone who came through his door and payed. It wasn't a place of secrets. Or so 'everyone' said. What everyone had little idea of was that down the worn steps of the basement, and behind the wall on your right cluttered with precisely-placed detritus, lay a door that led to a metal world of secrets and savagery with a smile. Two people had recently discovered this, by very different means. One was the diligent and pragmatic clone of a terrible monster born of Egypt and Germany, the other a subtle agent from Wales dedicated to defeating mystical threats. They had come, they were prepared, and they would show everyone what had slunk below them for so long.

"My mother tongue is unspeakable to you, possessing spirit" Wave-Eye snapped, more unnerved by the ghost's words than he was prepared to admit. Turning to Kit with a clack of his nails on the floor he scowled at this news "As we cannot leave the ship, it could hide under the water and never reveal itself for an attack. Ah well, I will search the ship, find whoever of the First Ones' victims I can, and get them secured before they cause more trouble" he glanced over at Blodeuwedd and Lord Steam "If either of you have else anything to ask of this man, now would be the time, he seems quite eager to talk, now that victory is assured" he said with a light sneer at the imprisoned possessee. Turning on his long heel, he stalked off down the hallway, keeping a finger pressed against the wall to search for errant vibrations.

Marceau pursed his lips as the captain began laying on the pressure, and blinked in surprise when Silvia told him to barricade the door to "...keep this a private conversation". I...this doesn't seem like such a good idea he thought, and instead of obeying said to the cowering man "Mr. Stills, you are in little trouble, and no danger. Captain Silvia" he said brightly to his comrade "please, take a seat, let us conduct this in a civilized manner."So saying, he briskly helped Warren into a chair, and taking one himself said companionably in his deep, kindly voice "Mr. Stills, we understand you have had some dealings with a group called the Cult of the Dripping Pox? I beseech you" he added, raising a hand to forestall an outburst from their lead "do not be disingenuous. We know you have a history with that group, and also that if you tell us what you know, you won't have anything to fear from them" adjusting himself in his seat he went on "As you know, there is a vicious disease stalking the city. I and captain Silvia here would like to know what it is, how you spread it, and how your partners got their hands on it."

GM The rolling lash of wind burst upon the unprepared soldiers still recovering from the surprise of one of their targets vanishing and then dropping one of their own in less than ten seconds. Their leader only managed to blurt out "Holy-" before she was thrown violently across the room, unable to stop herself in time before slamming into the far wall, dropping to the ground limp and insensible. The other two by contrast managed to throw themselves to the ground as the slicing gale passed around them, evading the main thrust of the attack. Legs shaking a little from their narrow escape, the two quickly regrouped several yards away from Stormbreaker, and prepared for battle, slate-gray metal facemasks not able to conceal the nervous dread each of them was feeling.

"You bet I can! Let's go show them what we can do!" exclaimed El Heraldo, an aura in the shape of an unfurled flag coalescing around him, and lifting him into the air. "Onwards!<Para Victoria o la Muerte!>" he cried, in an odd double-voice than mingled his own with that of an ageless and stern woman's. With that, he soared in a flash and blaze of light through the halls, the Banner of Victory clutched in his hands, ready to bring the hammer down on whoever had come to steal away the refugees!

Subito was deeply baffled by the arrival of the top hat, as he knew for fact that none of his relatives would be caught dead in one. He had been just about to call his parents about it when the phone rang barely inches from his fingers. Swooping it neatly from its charger, he put it to his ear and listened with a look of total stupification to the news that the next step in the strange case of the non-mystical artifact was a steampunk convention. Glancing at the top hat, he answered "..Yeah, I've got a few things, see you there Cerys!" Hanging up the phone, he stepped over to the large chest of clothes that had gradually accumulated over the months, searching through the neat piles for some very specific articles... Arriving off the bus, he adjusted the hat on his head a little self-consciously, examining the con with a vague frown. "Just gotta keep relaxed, and this'll be fine" he muttered to himself as he entered, glancing around at the happily chattering groups of archaically-dressed people surrounding him, wondering nervously if his rough pants and well-patched brown coat(both of great antiquity) clashed too badly with the elegant top hat perched delicately on his head. He kept a careful watch for Cerys, to the point where he almost walked into into the dapper-looking man with impeccable dress that set a strong contrast with the slightly cheaper-looking crowd. Raising his hat and bowing slightly in a confused gesture of apology, the stocky teen said "Sorry about that sir, looking for a friend...uh..." he looked up at Lord Steam sheepishly "...yeah. Didn't look where I was goin', I'll be more careful" he added, darting off into the milling convention-goers.

Okay, this seems a loony enough crew for what I had in mind. Now for part two, the backdoors. What do you want your character's escape clause to be? A personal villain? A family emergency?
