I guessed as much, I meant along the lines of going on ahead and checking it out. Which might be just as silly a plan, I suppose.

Subito hated the sewers. They always turned his clothes to mucky wrecks, and since he had been 10 neighborhood kids had been throwing things of his down there, which made THEM disgusting mucky wrecks as well. Suffice to say his face was set in a grim scowl, wishing he could just pull his mask down to shield his nose. "Ms. Britannia," whispered El Heraldo nervously, all irritation over the costume forgotten "I detect that someone down the way is endeavoring to either travel through time or send something. Do you recall anything from the book about this cult being capable of time-travel?" He glanced over her shoulder at the way ahead "If not, I still offer to investigate whatever is doing that ahead, while you trail our fellow scholar."

Let's do this! Taking 10 for a 'roll' of 14.

What. WHAT WHAT?!?! With a roar that sent shudders through the fetid waters of the graveyard, Wave-Eye tore the skull from his conch belt, hefted it, and threw it full-force at one of the skeletons, missing by several feet in his rage and shouting furiously "You monster! You all but entrapped me in an oath I could NEVER have escaped from, you let me kill a squid, YOU carved my name into that poor human's head! SKULL FACE!" He bellowed, his eyes reddening, teeth gleaming in the dark, spined hands clutching at the water as he slowly regained control of himself "I'm sorry I was so vile and thoughtless in those days, I truly am! But you are making me wish I had been crueler to your people, if this is what you planned and have set out to do!" He drew himself up to his full height "If you want to try and kill me by these proxies, fine, I'll fight, and maybe even die fighting them! But if I win, you will PAY for disturbing what little rest these poor soldiers have found. Prepare yourself, Skull Face!" he shouted, pulling out his Red Wave Conch and pushing himself a little further upwards, readying himself for the assault.

Sunuvabastich! Initiative: 20. Huzzah! Okay, going to pluck Skull Face from the belt as a Free Action, and throw him at one the closest skeleton for a Standard. Attack roll: 7. BAHAHAHAAAA! Free Action to Wax Sophistical. Move Action ten feet vertically from the encroaching skeletons, Free Action to draw the Conch.

Wave-Eye opened his jaws to retort, to say something in answer to that, but the awful spectacle around him, and the knowledge that he most likely DID know at least one of the dead here by name... "Yes" he managed at last, very quietly and sadly "Some of my half-brothers and sisters fought here. A few perished at this place." He looked around at the approaching sounds of the dead closing in. At least he had something easier to work with. "I am Wave-Eye, once called Nochehuatl, I have come here to seek guidance." He paused for a moment to let the dead absorb that before continuing "Someone has been killing humans, and carved my name onto the head of a surface human found today on the shores of the city above." He glanced around at the walking corpses about him "Have you heard any news of this?"
-
There is a curse on this place Wave-Eye realized as he swam further down, peering through the murk at the relics and bones. He could sense the cold hand of such power on the area, which considering how many corpses the place was littered with stood to reason. Nobody would have wanted such a place to become anything other than a grim warning against the evil that had caused the slaughter. "We must not stay here long" he warned Skull Face aloud "There is a terrible power in this water that I have not felt in many centuries. Where do we start? Did you know anyone here?" he asked nervously, glancing around a the forbidding battlefield. He had a dim memory of hearing about such a place, shorty after he had gone out into the waters as a mercenary several of his kindred had gone into the service of Sedna, and in one of the Inuit goddess's expeditions to the southern seas had clashed with the vanguard of one of Poseidon's armies. The resulting mutual obliteration had stained the sea for years, and had sent waves of horror through the southern sea gods when they realized that the northern marine powers could challenge them.
-
The place was still a slight din for Subito's powerful hearing, and it took him a second to realize Janis was talking to him. Once that fact clicked into place however, he quickly looked up. "Really? You have?" he asked eagerly "Anything by Hayden? My mom loves his stuff." He added by way of explanation.

El Heraldo had bent his ear with minute care as the man walked out of the library with the book, relaying what he heard to the British spirit of Justice nearby. "He works for somebody named Vile, somebody quite unforgiving and of the opinion that any attention drawn to the book is too much." He followed close to Young Britannia as they flew, partially to disguise his own light amidst hers(what that would accomplish he didn't consider fully), and landed with a quiet thud on the roof next to his comrade, eyes fixed on the sewer cover. He nodded shortly at Agnus slightly derailed question "I certainly am Ms. Britannia, wh-" he suddenly caught the look she was giving him and glanced down at his brilliant attire "This? Of course! I can even repair our garb with the Banner, cleans them as well as fixing tears and..such..." he had abruptly realized Young Britannia was laughing at his costume, and didn't help matters by crossing his arms over the bright blue jacket after tilting his feathered cap a little forwards, and glaring fiercely down after their quarry "This costume is awesome and I'm proud to wear it" he grumbled, floating stiffly down to the cover, which he tugged off and placed next to the opening for Agnus to replace as she went down. That done, he dropped quietly into the sewer, making room when he landed for Young Britannia in her turn.

Seeing as that's that case, KoS is going to try and collar one of the fleeing cultists. Move Action to move 30 or so feet into the room, Standard to throw a Coil-Card(Snare 9) at any cultist in range. Attack roll: 34. Which hits a Bystander easy. DC19 REF save: 8. Snared. Bystanders are about 40 or so feet away, there are 35 of them(counting the one currently Bound and Helpless) and Moving All-Out.
-
WIS check: 10. Hah. Knowledge(History) check: 27.
-
Taking 20 totally shuts down and removes the suit, as well as deactivating the force-field emitters(which were themselves protected by the shield as it happens).
-
GM As the bisected pole clattered to the ground, all three of the cultists began to hurry themselves into a fighting stance, but it was clear that none of them were nearly as experienced as Silhouette was. One of the staff halves slid quietly through the hole down into the black abyss it opened into, after which a slight tremor could be felt reverberating through the room. The cultists clustered around the perimeter of the room had no idea what they were seeing, but they were already dead silent, their dark eyes looking intently at the scene in the bowl as they edged closer to the doors and tunnel opening set amid the shelves and steps.
-
None of them could possibly make that, so they all fall down. The Bystanders all start fleeing, none of them through the tunnel King of Suits is guarding though.
-
Using the Cultist archetype(without the gun and a staff in place of the sword/axe, and Blast 2 with the Magic descriptor) from 2E Core for the staff-bearers. The other people in the room besides them are all Bystanders with no intention whatever of fighting. Their Initiatives: 8,6, 3. Go to town. KoS's Initiative: 16.

"Grmghulp!" The King of Suits suffered that jangling sensation usually felt when one is startled out of a train of thought. A voice suddenly murmuring to him out of nowhere like that had totally derailed his careful plans for corralling the cult leaders(or so he judged the staff-bearers to be) and capturing as many of the general cultists as he could. Forcing himself not to shudder like an leaf from the shock and instead resembling someone experiencing a mild electric jolt, he stepped slowly backwards and around the voice he had heard, stopping once the darkness of the hall covered them both fully, and said tentatively in a soft rumble to where he gauged the speaker lurked " A cult of the Egyptian god Apep as far as I can tell. From the look of this place I'd guess they've become well-fortified and entrenched, probably been here a long while." He glanced back over to the brighter hall where the cultists milled about pleasantly "As for what is going on right now, I can only speculate they're about to perform some kind of ceremony" he shrugged "Couldn't find much on rituals for Apep in my studies for this case, so I have no idea what's about to happen." Peering into the dark where his invisible company was he added politely "I'm called the King of Suits by the way, O friendly shadow. May I know what you go by? " he asked with a warm smile, briefly offering his left hand before sheepishly replacing it with his right with a muttered "Er, sorry."

DC31 TOU save: 22. BOOM'd, fight over!

GM Bouncing quickly back from the cosmic punch it had just sustained, the robot glanced almost witheringly at Corporal Cosmos before stepping slightly forward and lashing out with a lean arm...and missing by at least four inches, its hand whizzing harmlessly past Steve's head. The robot showed many signs of concern over this. Meanwhile, the force-field continued to flicker and cast its pall over the scene, and several helicopters, flying heroes and more dimly-perceived flying objects clustering around the shimmering barrier, distant cries and the heavy thuds of the whirling blades softly traveling through the hermetic shield.

DC27 TOU save: 29. Bah. It will make a Melee attack this time. Attacke Rolle: 16, miss. Rav's turn.

GM El Heraldo: The towering man looked at Subito for a few minutes, frowning as he thought over what the younger man had said. At length he set down the car, leaned a hand over it and floated a few feet above the ground, staring at the gaudy paragon for a few seconds before saying at last "That does make some sense" he shrugged casually as he went on "and i guess I don't have to kill you right now or anything. I'm Strongarm, by the way" he added, smiling genially through his short black beard "You might say I'm an assassin". Some of the people who had been running for their lives as Strongarm's rampage went on were gradually creeping back from around wrecked cars and tankers, those who heard the words staring in quiet horror at the man as he sat down on the upended vehicle, grinning disarmingly at El Heraldo. Net Fly: Indeed there was, a small chute with a bed in it that could take whoever lay in it anywhere they had the coordinates to. It was easy to make his way into a small, mostly concealed corner of the Comm Systems room, a rectangular place with no occupants at present whatsoever, a button and control panel-covered podium at the other end bearing a screen that looked down on the revolving Earth(they were currently over the South Pacific), and columns that served no imediately obvious purpose. It was, like most of the ship, clean and white.

Weissbots' DC31 TOU checks: 33, 31. Huh.

"It seems we must look to the dead after all" grumbled Wave-Eye, glancing briefly down at Skull Face before speaking once more to the kraken "I THANK YOU, O MIGHTY STIRRER OF THE DEEP, I SHALL DISTURB YOUR SLUMBER NO LONGER, AND TAKE MY LEAVE." So bellowing, he darted out of the monster's sight, shuddering at the memory of geysers of black blood from things much like that creature. To get himself back on track he said to Skull Face "So..where do we find this bonefield?"

Sense Motive rolls: 28, holy cow. 14.
