  2. Man, that came out of NOWHERE. Using the base Ninja archetype from the Core Rules for the 15 regular Katanarchists. PL5'd(With Mighty Strike rank 3) version for Samurai dude. All Minions obviously. Voltage learns that the Katanarchists are a gang of mercenaries that once followed the Crimson Katanas, They wwere once a major player in the world of assassination and organized crime, but in 1977 were all but demolished by the Russian Mob families. Since then, the only notable things they have done include the murder of Freedom League members Halogen and Tectonic the 70's, they've since been relegated to sniping from the shadows, never really being able o do nearly the kind of harm they once did. They seem to believe that playgirl heiress Kimiyo Ranaga is some kind of reincarnation of their previous masters. No need to roll Initiative if you don't want to start fighting right off the bat. Most of you can do serious damage even if bound after all.
  3. GM The teller glanced at the other people in line, and seeing as they were just far enough away, whispered to Synth "As a matter of fact miss, we DO have light work in the back that I don't believe will require much in the way of I.D. We need people to help sort through newly-arrived bills in the vaults and make sure none are counterfeit. We don't find very many, but it always helps to make sure. All you need to do is sort through small piles of money and check them for the marks that show it's genuine. We'll give a thorough demonstration of what to look for, and it pays well above minimum wage too, only real downside is that it's awfully time-consuming" leaning back to his original posture he said rather more loudly "Thank you for your time miss, please come back when you have some I.D. so we can serve you better, have a nice day!" It was then that the vault door opened, the three red-swathed women dropped from out of the ceiling and barred the doors, and the new arrivals drew out guns, short swords and knives, and eight men that looked for all the world like some crazy cross between samurai and ninjas walked calmly out of the vault. The one wearing gold-rimmed armor and a clearly ancient samurai mask spoke in a midwestern U.S. accent "Citizens! We are Katanarchists. Do not try to call for help, do not resist in the least, do not move if you can avoid it. We are taking you hostage, and wish nothing from you personally except your lives as bargaining chips to negotiate a deal. Cooperate, and you shall leave our custody with nothing worse than an exciting story to tell your friends, co-workers and family, resist and we shall sever your hearts from your bodies without remorse, hesitation or mercy" at his nodded signal, the other seven began to move towards the bank visitors with lengths of rope, their intent self-evident.
  4. Stepping sharply backwards at the vicious swipes that needed avoiding if he wished to give the Halbediers the Amulet whole, Marceau took stock of the situation: he could by no means let the police of the city bear the brunt of his problem(such as he saw it) and also the man with the rocket launcher was obviously a very effective type who would be very helpful in rendering the demon-haunted statues quite incapable of hurting anyone. Figuring that it wouldn't hurt to try and immobilize one of them, he drew out another pair of weighted bolas, wincing at the pain from his broken rib, and sent it neatly around the spear-carrier's animated legs. He wondered how he was going to explain this to the police once this was dealt with...
  5. Okay, going to try the Snare again to render the Spear Statue 'elpless. Power Attack(+4 DC, -4 ATK) Attack roll: 18! EDIT: Actually, plus the MP bonus, that would be 19 I believe. DC18 REF check, and a move action 20ft. away from the Statues.
  6. Sorry Vahnyu, I messed up badly. Prof. E's DC is usually 28, and increased ought to have been 31. So...Net Fly is Dazed and Bruised instead of just Bruised.
  7. Raising a thin(and evidently much diminished) eyebrow at the last remark, Marceau admitted wryly "Coveralls are pretty much the only outerwear I have, to be honest. Got a suitcase-load of the things in Eastern Europe, and they're so applicable I just can't work up the desire to get any other kind of clothes, which as you might imagine doesn't help with interviews" he sighed glumly before looking back at Max, his gaze having wandered over to the new arrivals, but soon had passed over them, seeing nothing out of the ordinary about their manner. "I'd eagerly take any dressing tips you might have, Max. I live near a thrift shop so no real risk of being too in-fashion" he said jocularly with a wink. The mention of tattoos and piercings intrigued him "Body art, eh? I've seen some truly impressive specimens of that practice around here, I'll be sure to visit sometime" he glanced at the new arrivals again but shrugged, discarding them from his concerns. He fell into easy chatter with Max about tattooists he had met in Europe and Asia.
  8. Sense Motive check: 9. Meh, he's happy about meeting someone new, not paying near as much attention as he ought.
  9. Taking his cue on the fact that now the armored maniac was attacking the rather less than sturdy Net Fly, Subito reminded himself to keep a close eye on when the next hit was made so he could dive between it. Meanwhile, he hurled himself at the hologram, only for his carefully aimed blow to be turned aside by the man's armor. Calling out to the others he said nervously "I don't think this is working out guys, what do we do?"
  10. Alright, Heraldo's turn. He will set a Reaction with Interpose to get between Expiostinot's next attack on Net Fly. Also he will All-Out Attack along with Accurate Attack (+3 to ATK, -3 to DC) to assault the hologram. Attack roll: 24, a hit. DC21 TOU check: 26, no effect. End of Round Three, Beginning Round four. 1.Glow: Unharmed. 0HP 2. Arcturus: Bruised, 0HP 3. Net Fly: Dazed, Bruised, 0HP 4. Prof. Expiostinot: Bruise 4, 5. El Heraldo: Unharmed, 0HP You're up again Glow.
  11. GM Arcturus's attack sent shudders through the floor, and Professor Expiostinot wavered visibly However, his armor's shock absorbers seemed to be working at that very moment, because the burning smash hadn't done any damage to his harness at all! "Is this your best, backslider?" demanded the roboticist with undisguised smugness(though the undercurrent of relief was easily detectable) "For all your flames and brutish smack-talking, you're no match for the fruit of my mind's labors! I-" and then Net Fly's shot thrummed past him to take out a hefty chunk of the wall. Whirling on the mutant vibration-controller, he seemed to forget about his antipathy towards the runemaker, and with a shout of anger he cried "And still you throw your lot in with these pests? Then I won't spare you my ire!" and with that he sent his metal fist racing for his new target, putting jut about every pound of pressure the hologram could into its assault. However it clearly failed to calculate the distance, and much of the punch's energy was spent in midair, thudding painfully into Serge with enough force to drive the wind from his lungs and sending him gasping to the ground..
  12. "He's still conscious, I'll knock him out first so he won't hurt himself trying to escape" Subito called over to Kristin as he knelt beside Diego, and raising a fist he sent it at the maddened man's head. However, a residual disinclination to hurt the man he had promised to help in the rescue badly threw off his aim(not helped by his averted head and closed eyes), and the fist instead badly dented the floor several inches away from his nominal target. In the awkward silence that followed, he let out a muffled "Blast it...!" and with a aggravated sigh steeled himself for the next attempt.
  13. GM Fiating a reroll of Net Fly's TOU save.
  14. Prof. E's turn. He shall Power Attack(+3 to DC, -3 to ATK) against Net Fly(for his OBSCURANTIST TENDENCIES) Attack roll: 21. DC27 TOU check please.
  15. My mistake people, the Inspire wore off last turn, I didn't realize that just because it was the last action taken last turn that it wouldn't 'roll over' to the one after. That still hits though Grans.
  16. That hits very well. DC20 TOU check: 21, darn. You're up Vahn!
  17. Okay, going to try for a finishing move. Power Attack(+4 to DC, -4 to ATK): 13. So 8. DC28 TOU check.
  18. Marceau blinked in surprise, the sudden realization of rudeness causing a slight retreat that almost sent him into the person behind him in line. "Sorry about that!" he apologized earnestly to the humorless-looking woman in the red hoodie behind him, before resuming his place in line. Facing Max again he said with curiosity "Truly? Thank you very much for the offer, I'll hand it right back" taking the thing gingerly he examined with interest how it seemed to have been put together, noting the density of the touchscreen plate, the weight and composition of the stylus, the material of the shell and the listened to the thrumming of power through the device. Handing it back he said with quiet wonderment "An incredible kind of machine, thank you for letting me take a look, much obliged!" offering his right hand(after a second's consideration of whether the tattooed man might be left-handed) he added "I'm Marceau Suvou, a jan-ah, "maintenance staff member" at an accounting office" And superhero, he added mentally, but I dare say he's run into more than one just living in this crazy town!
  19. Sidestepping the vicious punch, Subtio looked in horror at the slavering fury standing in front of him, at the raging beast that Diego had been reduced to. Turning to yell at the man principally responsible, he saw to his glee that he was an unconscious pile in the hands of Kristin. "Good job Glow!" he called to her "I'll handle Diego!" so saying he turned to face the man again..and saw him running for the hallway! "No you won't!" shouted Subito as he flew after him, delivering as solid punch to to the back that sent Diego into a wall. He instantly regretted it, as he felt the punch slam into the man's back, and he winced as he collided with the wall. "I'm so sorry" he said desperately to Diego, walking closer to the fallen man, "But I can't let you try and hurt people, especially when you're like this!" He turned to Glow "What should we do now?"
  20. DC15 Sense Motive check for the new arrivals please!
  21. Thank you very much! Initiative: 27
  22. Going to send our friendly maddened pal Cruz to meet Mr. Pawnch. Unarmed Attack after Movement if necessary to intercept him. Attack roll: 21. DC24 TOU save.
  23. At the sound of the demon's voice, the King of Suits crouched against the roof, testing the edge of his selected razor card. He was about to leap out and start hurling it when the sound of roaring tires filled the quiet street, he peered over the edge of the roof to see what had happened, and was shocked to see a French SWAT team pour out of their van. He was about to shout a warning to them when the man carrying the bazooka jumped out, aimed, and fired. As the explosion rocked through the air, filling the street with smoke and chips of stone, Marceau had flung himself from the edge just in time. After a tense second he looked to see what harm had been done to the statue, and to his amazement saw that it had been halted! Cheered by this, he was about to raise an encouraging shout before joining the fray when it died in his throat, for the Sword-bearing stone host was still up, and moving to assault the French police! Leaping down onto the road and ignoring the sudden jar of his feet on the hard stone, he took a pair of bolas from his belt, whirled them around, and sent that racing for the statue's legs, putting every ounce of power he could behind it to make sure it would at least hold if it hit.
  24. "I don't think it'll matter at all man" El Heraldo declared confidently "Between the two of us there's not much that can stand for long, even if your suit does fail we can scratch something up to make it work out" he walked calmly towards the edge of one of the pits and floated above it, peering down into the depths below. Still in a talkative mood he continued "I bet there's all kinds of working tech in here you could use, maybe even improve your suit. This could even be where the treasure we're looking for is hidden" he holstered the Banner in the loop on the back of his costume, the vibrant gold and blues contrasting gaudily with the subdued and metallic surrounding they were in. "Of course, there's probably stuff in here even the people who first found it won't guess at I'll bet, they must have found a broken wall into this place or something, and the emitter must have made it look like a cave or something. Kinda weird don't you think? Why go to the trouble to make that entryway look like a cave? Why not a wall of rock so people wouldn't want to go into it? It's what I would have done anyway. You think there's any defense robots in here, like in those old spy movies about Ace Danger? I hope there's something, it would be lame if there was all this stuff that we only needed to get through a door to access" he floated a bit upwards to inspect the ceiling "I'll make sure to remember this place later, bet the people who run the trails will want to know about it, and it could be fun to explore too!"
