OOC for this thread. @RocketLord Forever Boy debuts, alongside @Supercape's Echohead, @Exaccus's Facsimile and @Thevshi's Veronica Danger. For the stats of your opponents from Blackstar's Blackguard, consider them to be PL12 versions of this sheet by Troll, with the amendment the powers come from a Hard-To-Lose Device: Electrum Eagle can fly under his own power, and Platinum Porpoise is Immune to Suffocation by all descriptors.

GM September 1st, 2018, 4.28PM A.S.T.R.O. Labs The day was winding down, the light was starting to wane, and the people working at one of the premier technological application centers on Earth were starting to think fondly of home. By now the horrors of the Terminus Invasion had already begun to fade from all but the hardest-hit. But the fact remained: while there was a sense that the Terminus might not make such a move again, there were other dangers in the omniverse. So far the day had gone famously. The dimensional conduit prototype, code-named DR(pronounced, naturally, 'door') was in full working order, the odd-looking man from AEGIS hadn't gotten in the way while 'checking for mental leaks', and the representative for the prestigious Danger Foundation had been nothing but helpful with the finer details of avoiding dangerous interaction with the forces she unaccountably referred to as 'magic'. The support staff had been on top of their game today, especially thanks to a newcomer with an ease around the strange materials they worked with that confounded even veterans of the Labs. Regardless, there was only a little clearing up to do and everyone would be off the clock. So it was with a certain regret that one of the walls exploded inward from a shower of dark energy, followed by two odd-looking men in Atom Family Adventure-like uniforms of black, silver and purple with armbands that radiated power. "Hello!" the finned one said merrily "Please leave this to us, Terresi!" "I'm Electrum Eagle. No prey escapes me." The winged one snarled, knocking the room off its feet with a wave of his gauntleted hand, emitting a punishing shockwave that made the nerves scream. "And I'm Platinum Porpoise! Take a seat!" A snap of his webbed fingers and a boyish smile heralded a great seething wave of bluish-purple energy that started flashing across the room, pinning everyone in its path with coils of otherworldly darkness! However, even as they headed for the great arch of the DR, they were unaware that someone had followed them ever since they first materialized in Freedom City...

Actually @Thevshi since Veronica is another soon-to-be Claremonter that works out perfectly! Okay, so Echohead, Facsimile and Veronica "Styles" Danger team up with Forever Boy. Will get the thread up later today. Complications likely to come up: Forever Boy: Never is an awfully long time: While usually fearless, Pan has just one fear: That he will never be able to return to Neverworld. Oh, the cleverness of me: Pan is a trickster, and he has trouble not taunting and otherwise aggravating his enemies. Echohead: Ugly Thoughts: Any “Echo” stored in his head has the lingering will of the original. For the most part this is, at worst, distracting. However, progressively strong willed copies might limit the use of their skills at a critical time, or cause him to freeze or tic or speak inappropriately. Exceptionally strong copies might even – if Umberto was tired or drained – even take possession of him transiently! Facsimile: Feet of clay: Alex assimilates most features of the materials he mimics, especially any flaws or drawbacks that might entail such as increased vulnerability to some descriptors or even weakness to substances it might react with. Veronica Danger: Responsibilities: As a member of the Danger family, Veronica has not only inherited some of the considerable enemies that the family has made over the years, but she also, in addition to school, has whatever responsibilities to her family or their business that might come up. You are late for your one o’clock meeting! As one of the family representatives of Danger International in Freedom City, Veronica and her cousin have been assigned a personal assistant, Prudence, who has the daunting task of trying to keep the two Danger cousins on schedule.

@SpicyWaffle Don't forget Initiative! And a 26 hits. DC21 Reflex save(which is, going by the stats detailed on the first page of this OOC thread, very high): 29! Alright, one additional note, Waffle: In this and all subsequent fights of the thread, you announce the next actions you intend to make for the next three rounds. Then I resolve them individually against the NPCs/environment. So you don't gotta wait around, just sing out what you plan to do! So, what're you next moves, Waffle? Bearing in mind these will be resolved according to Bee-Keeper's Initiative result.- 50 replies

Forever Boy is the character of new player RocketLord, and since he was just approved, no reason not to have a debut before Claremont gets into the swing of things. I'm looking for 1-2 other PCs who'd be interested in foiling the machinations of two loving, cautious and powerful space-villains come to Earth for reasons of stealing a prototype dimensional conduit from A.S.T.R.O. Labs' Freedom City headquarters. PL is 10-12, any origin or theme. Date is 7th September, 2018, late afternoon, verging on evening. Tone is very light. Very heavy on action.

B'Ka did his best not to look disappointed, forgetting that his helmet well-hid any contortions his muzzle might make. What he'd done back on his homeworld was all the sticking-his-neck-out experience he had, and it hadn't been pleasant, at least until the end. Wandering for weeks across empty wasteland, not knowing what he was doing or what he'd do when he reached his destination, a good clean fight was far preferable. You didn't have to wonder, it was all flow, all instinct and the delicate dance of estimation as you maneuvered yourself into position to capitalize on a crucial mistake. Or just slamming into someone so hard you both went through a wall. But ever since he'd become a hero back on the homeworld, he hadn't had to fight or scrap for anything. People had just given it to him, spoken to him nicer than he was used to or liked, even stuck around to talk to him. One of the caretakers at the recovery center did that especially often, and thinking about them sitting beside him, smiling and gentle as they stroked his hand, made B'Ka break out in a cold sweat. He still couldn't figure what they wanted. But all of that was at least slightly beside the point. The point was, Sri Darvo was promising him and Sri Kath'lana more grunt work and little chance to prove their mettle. "Everyone's problems're different," he conceded grudgingly, "but me an' Squire Lana, we know the galaxy isn't a kind place. If we don't learn fast we won't be much use."

Since your main damage power is at rank 6, and it wouldn't conflict with your other damage effects, a Trade off up to +/- 4 would work fine, @RocketLord, and would make them much more effective. You don't have to, of course, but I feel it'd be pretty useful in this situation.

Hell Broke Loose: The Terminus Invasion of 2018
Ari replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Freedom City Stories
Pray for the power to overcome Red Moon Morning of day 3(of infinite) The wires sprouted in rivulets, in trickles and rills, fanning across the walls and floor in a dense mat. Filling most of the room belonging to those walls and floor was the severed head of the giant. In life they'd perhaps been beautiful, though Atraxia couldn't say. The earless, mouthless face was too chunky and broad, the lips pouted to the point of parody and the skin pale and thin as gauze. The eyes were the worst, and the sight of them had sent a shiver through the shriveled heart of the lunar vampire as she'd slipped noiselessly into the central power battery of the Ashton doomforge. The eyes were red like hers had been in life and stared out at her in mute appeal. "Yes" her suit trilled, translating her words with a chorus of many voices "I can release you." She paused, taking in the principle obstacles. A crackling energy field around the head, electrical pulses between the larger cables socketing to the brain, cycles of sizzling energy cubes whisking from apertures in the walls to pass through the field and be recharged before vanishing back into the doomforge's guts. Of course, the biggest hazard was the net of surveillance devices peppering the room. First, the watching eyes had to blinded. A moment's work and they watched the room as it had been moments before she became visible. The field around the outer perimeter, a space cluttered with mis-matched technology adapted from cultures and worlds Atraxia couldn't reckon, turning the raw power seething in the giant head into usable energy, was easy. Just a moment to disperse her atoms and she passed right through. Next came the cubes, lightning arcing between deadly prongs, burning red-hot and darting through the air with a speed and unpredictability that belied their shape. Regarding the air full of perils, Red Moon slid into the floor and flew silently past. The cables shuddered and jumped, electricity that could fry her withered corpse even while dematerialized flashed and thundered, creating an impassible barrier. Timing the discharges, Red Moon slowly braided two of the largest cables steadily together. Hour after hour she coiled the pair, opening a gap she at last could step through. She looked into the eyes of the giant, her helmet pulling back in a cloud of smoke that parted to reveal the face of the vampire. Comprehension and then resignation flickered in that ageless, agonized face. Slowly, ponderously, the eyes shut as Atraxia stroked one cheek with her taloned hand. She bent close, fangs glistening, and whispered "Be free" as she struck. Blood jetted out, splashing against the walls, the cables let out one final groan before falling dead along with everything that had hinged on the tortured half-life. The lights went out too, and as Atraxia lifted her head from her meal she could hear the Omegadrones charging for the power core. It would not do she decided to allow the risk of a reboot Without a sound she slipped into the floor to wait and watch, talons ready for the coming slaughter.- 12 replies

GM A stray pike shot had slammed into Gauss, driving her into the asphalt with punishing force that left the world a shaky, hazy din just outside the grip of fully-rational thought. But that was the end of the violence for the moment, and the convoy obligingly kept a wide berth besides a few who left their cars to try and help the disoriented hero. With the wrecked vehicle cleared, shoved into an alley big enough to contain it, and the shaky couple and their belongings beginning to be redistributed, the convoy began to crawl ahead. Pushed by the furious honking behind them and the sight of the distant horrors at the City Center, the front line of cars rolled briskly into gear as they rumbled for train station. Then the storm hit. Before Prism's eyes, a cyclonic wall of air howled to life and grew into a solid, shaking grey shell around the packed vehicles. Its power swept stray debris, trash, pieces of Omegadrone and anyone unfortunate enough to be out of their cars into the sky, hovering and buffeted by the air pressure coursing from below! Following them in short order, the cars, trucks and otherwise of the convoy began to leisurely levitate, carrying their screaming occupants dozens of feet into the air. With little apparent hurry, the wall began to usher them along...down the wrong road, the one leading right to the City Center where the black fort of the Terminus rose. -

The convoy is lifted only 50ft above the ground, well within Prism's Flight range, so she does manage to get people out of their vehicles on her Move Actions. First attack hits, DC25 Toughness vs. +10 Toughness: 23. Bruised. Redshift will start moving the convoy 500ft down the road over the course of her turn. Preventing her from moving around the convoy in a steady loop will force her to abandon this plan. Ways to do this involve placing physical blocks, Stunning/Dazing her, Snaring/Grappling her, etc. Because she's moving at super-speed throughout she's considered to be within range and as an available target for the considerations of game mechanics. @Azuth65 Would you give me Gauss' next three actions when she regains her place in Initiative? Next shot misses. Redshift moves the convoy as a whole 1000ft down the road. Next Actions please, @Thunder King- 50 replies

ic Emerald City Team-up: Burning down the House
Ari replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in The Emerald Cities
Keeping her grip by the simple expedient of locking her hands together, Mag-Might flexed her crystalline muscles and braced herself as the towering creature's flames roared around her . They weren't like the fires that powered her magical shell, or even like the blaze that drove her lower-strata cousins down in the mantle. These fires were angry. Well, that made sense. What place did one of the Burning Children have on the cold, barren surface staring out into the endless void? Sometimes, when she was alone in the buzzing city, Maggy surrendered to the urge to crawl, driven by the unreasoning fear she'd fly off into the empty blue. Maybe she'd found a kindred spirit at last. "Grr'klk," she began in a gentle, even tone, "lurrhlgraaaughlkuh'k." She doubted this strange entity knew what she was talking about, but she hoped the spirit came through. "Gulkraghklkullkarghaugh. Uhaughlk Magh'kee klughl." It was a little personal, of course, but it might help break the ice a little. Regardless, she held on. Not to hurt, but to make sure the torcher wasn't going anywhere. She winced audibly as the flames spiked, a thin crack growing down her side as a flaw in her crystal surrendered under the strain. -
DC20 Toughness save: 23. Initiative: 12. DC20 Toughness from Aura: 17. Bruised. First action, if allowed, will be to maintain Grapple and attempt to initiate negotiations(Diplomacy roll to attempt to nudge them away from Hostile: 22.

Hey Deus, so your description and the name reminded me right away of something: That's from the Cosmic Handbook, and in particular I wanted to draw your attention to the Kailur and Hexxim, the telepathic squids and octopi-like folks of the wider galaxy. Being a multi-tentacled space creature, they'd likely have some kind of encounter suit to protect them and translate them to others and vice versa, their many limbs make them excellent wrestlers, and they could even be (non-fatally) venomous to others, including radically affecting the minds of people they sting. Also you'd be a giant space squishie on a mission of peace, so that'd be neat too.

Basically @Geron it's considered a bit of a cheat if a Complication and a Drawback are the same thing, since you're getting Hero Points(the fuel of this system) and Power Points on top of it. It's preferred to be one or the other, and you're likely to get Hero Points when your Drawbacks come up anyway, since they're pretty severe challenges.
-
@Geron So, in the 2E Core Rules Drawbacks work as follows: you have a Frequency, going from Uncommon, Common, to Very Common, which adds +1 to the value taken away from your point total as you go up in how often you want the Drawback to come up, and Intensity, which go from Minor to Moderate to Major, which adds up to +2 on the value of the Drawback, depending on how significant you want this hurdle to be. For sakes, it's expected that you'll only have a couple of big Drawbacks, or few smaller ones. Now, your Drawbacks are very serious. Red Wall's weakness to disease(compromised immune system thanks to native powers preventing it from interacting with common bacteria and viruses?) gives you -5PP, the Vulnerability to Radiation gives you -4PP, and his Vulnerability to Anti-Matter gives you -3. So that's -12PP, so you have 2PP to work with.

Ari replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in The Emerald Cities
There they were! And they were hiding their appearance, not even the normal way with masks, totally covered. Maybe a kindred spirit? Only one way to find out. Breaking into a sprint, Mag-Might jumped, just a little...and a launchpad of rocky crystal sent her hurtling in through the window! As she flew towards the shrouded one, she let out a mighty roar of "Mrgh'crgaaaaak!" Spreading her arms wide, Mag-Might swept them around the creature in what was intended to be a tight but friendly sort of bear hug. -
Okay. Will use Move Action to Leap In through the window and attempt to Grapple Blister. Attack roll: 24. Grapple check: Incorrectly notated on sheet, should be +12 as base: 30.

Hello, @Geron! And welcome to the site! If you need any help with inspiration and examples of how to build characters, https://www.freedomplaybypost.com/topic/7199-consolidated-character-buildingarchetype-resource-index/ < this links to a bunch of build threads that have practically any kind of superhero you can imagine written up. And they're almost all by Refs and the most experienced builders on-site, so you know they're good! As for your build, one of the examples in trollthumper's thread, Agent Invincible, has his effective invincibility modeled by giving him Immunity: Lethal damage that converts that to non-lethal damage. So they can be knocked about, but they can't be seriously hurt. Scaling down to PL7-8 however is a pretty severe cutback, however. As a new player you start with two PL10 slots and a PL7 slot. If you want, you could use one of the PL10 slots to make a PL7-8 with 150PP, with saves and checks adjusted to account for the lower PL, but that's still pretty restrictive.

GM Mt. Olympus, home of the gods, "So..." Herakles was many things. A giant of a man, girded about with a strength that had challenged the world itself to contain, conqueror of innumerable impossible tasks(innumerable only to him, admittedly, whose education hadn't got very far in mathematics before his accidental murder of his mentor Chiron the wise), faithful guardian of Olympus, even an accomplished landscaper. But he wasn't good with making complex judgements on the fly. He rubbed his stubbled jaw with a hand easily big enough to contain both Scions' heads with room to spare, frowning in concentration. "She," he pointed a finger big as a sausage at the other Scion, "is not a god, but you want her to become one? And then go back to her world? After she's become divine and then needs mortal say-so to go back?" "Yeah!" The Scion from the other Earth looked indignantly at Moira "You never said anything about this 'Pact', when the Erebus-!" She blinked at the unfamiliar word "What? Why can't I say Erebus?" "Beats me," Herakles shrugged, leaning against the mighty gates leading into the celestial domain, "she's under Apollo's eye, I'd have figured he'd say something before you two got here." A mortal would have been dwarfed by the colorful portal and its gaily-painted doors. Next to the older demi-god it looked almost awkwardly small.

GM Other-Scion blew a long breath, looking back down at the distant red waste slowly coming closer. "It does sound good. At least it's a better plan than I had. Which wasn't a plan at all, admittedly." "But, how are we going to get out of here?" Taking a step from the edge, she cast about for some answer in the black sky and red rock, tentatively approaching Prime's Moira. She'd relaxed a little from the non-threatening attitude of her counterpart, but she still looked stiff and on-edge as she stood face to face with Edone. "I could use a little of that immortality, too. Even if your Olympus isn't any more real than mine." "And if we can get my powers back...well, I'm putting my life on the line already as it is." The face the Other-Scion was notably more lined than Prime's. There were a few hairs starting to grey at the fringes, and there were scars on her neck that didn't looke like anything mortal had made them. She offered her own hand awkwardly, forcing a smile. "Let's go meet some gods, me."

GM Other-Scion, understandably, if not correctly, cautious, continued to keep her distance, listening to the other woman's spiel with a deepening frown. "That...doesn't make any sense." She rubbed one hand over her face, grimacing as she visibly tried to sort out what she'd just heard. "I know all that about you being Edone, that stuff with Apollo, it's in the Young Gods: Love & War limited series Castle put out a few years ago. And I know the Imageria can make stuff like that real, if you believe in it, but...comic books are big, but that big? Enough to shape the collective unconscious?" She scraped her nails through her hair, dislodging even more of it from the tight bun as she stared down into the red wastes stretching out far below the two gods. "But...if you were that Moira...you'd be and do what I expect or want. You're too curious to be just a, a construct, but nothing else works." She pointed at Prime-Scion "Also, for the record? I absolutely earned being a god. My powers might just be low-level psionics, but I've made something of myself with them. There's literal millions of people sending me prayers back home in the real world. But you've got my attention, what's the plan, O spirit guide?"
