  1. The shock was worse than the cut, so thankfully Dol-Druth's grating, grinding voice echoed through the cavern "We will see what we can do..." His eyes shot open, blazing with blue fire that poured into Lucien's own eyes, a babel of voices hissing in his ears as the world shifted and shook into focus. More importantly, Lord Steam could see. Perfectly. There wasn't a single light source but a kind of ambience that shimmered in the air. By it one could make out the cavern, the great arching pillars shaped like wingless, legless dragons worn down by millennia of erosion, the broad pools where seawater had trickled in. The gate at the far end, eighty feet high, shaped like coiling snakes. Dol-Druth lurched to his feet, leaning heavily on Lord Steam, panting and clutching at his head, still oozing blue blood. "Now...allow me to retrieve my weapon..." Stumbling over to the brackish pool where the frazzer had fallen, Dol-Druth shakily picked the shock-gun up and slipped it back into its holster, safeties on. Plodding back, shoes squelching, iridescent beige suit gleaming around saltwater stains, the alien waved to the far gate "Shall we?"

    Long Way Down(OOC)

Stunting Super-Senses 1(Ultravision; Extras: Affects Others)[2PP], at 0HP and The Speaker takes a count of Fatigue.
  3. Nono, it Snared on the surprise round where only it could act, then it Summoned on its turn the first round, then you escaped on Witchblood's first turn in the first round, leaving you with a Move Action after using your Standard to destroy the Snare.
  4. You went after it went, because Witchblood is in next place after its turn.
  5. @Jessica Witchblood You can't use two Standard Actions in a turn unless you Surge. You do have a Move Action, so you could get to cover to protect yourself from the next round's attacks, or use Move-Action length interaction skills like Bluff/Acrobatic Bluff.
  6. Okay Ice web's toughness save vs DC25: 13. Now, being ice, it raises the effectiveness of fire damage by 1/2 ranks, so it's DC30. Fails by 17, the ice web is destroyed.
  7. Half-effect means the rank or bonus of the effect is halved. In this case it's Damage 10 which forces a DC25 save, but with the half-immunity it becomes Damage 5, forcing a DC20 Toughness save. Failed by 4, so Bruised. Have an HP! Post up, will contine this fraught encounter in the morning.
  8. GM With a pop and a hiss of displaced air, Jessica found herself held in place by great blades of ice, sprouting from the ground or curling through the air to pin her arms to her sides, force her neck to crane upwards to avoid one frozen shard aimed into her throat, and keeping her legs locked together. The demonic tree creaked and groaned with triumphant laughter "The mighty Witchbloods! The last in my clutches, without the wit or strength to save even herself! Queen Shatachna of the Iron Hell will pay me a great price for the last of you wayward mortals, stripling! In life you were a waste, in death your only value is as a collector's item, a final, workmanlike piece to complete a glorious puzzle, a-!" "Hey! You come over here and say that!" Trudy yelled furiously, struggling to free herself from the ice pinning one leg to the ground. "Laugh it up, she's gonna roast your ass clean off!" The tree's face contorted "As you wish. Bearers!" The demon's maw grew to ten times its normal size, sending another wave of blue mist across the ice and snow. Almost at once the mist began to draw the frozen water into and around itself, shaping it into five devilish figures that shone like diamonds in the night, their eyes a pale and inhuman blue. Silently, the creatures stalked over to the women, seizing them in translucent hands by their wrists and ankles, taking their time as Jessica's friends resisted them fiercely. "Struggle in vain!" the helltree boomed "Your efforts are futile, and your only hope is helpless!"
  9. Helltree: Unharmed-GM Witchblood: Unharmed, Entangled, 1HP Entangled gives a -2 to Attack and Defence, with a -4 on Reflex checks while in that condition. Anchored to the spot, Witchblood cannot move. The Helltree will take a full-round action to summon forth five PL4 Ice Devil Minions, which move to and pick up the other women, preparing to throw them into the hellish vegetable's toothy maw. Witchblood is up, Blood! Now, the Snare is rank 12, so it's pretty tough. You could burn yourself out of it, taking the risk of accidentally hurting yourself in the rush to get out of this and rescue her friends/obliterize the demons, or you could attempt to Nullify it entirely to just make it go away. Or you could dispel the ice devils. It's up to you! DC20 Concentration check required to use those powers. Have an extra Hero Point, as Witchblood does not have training in that skill.
  10. GM Freedonians don't freak out easily. It's not a good instinct to have in a city where literally anything can happen. But the more common one could be just as dangerous. "GET SERENA" Trudy thundered, already grabbing a stick off the ground and throwing it, with an accuracy that would have made her javelin instructor proud, straight into the tree's jagged mouth! The others pounded past her towards their friend, tackling Serena and manhandling her towards the edge of the glade with impressive speed, ignoring her anguished screams for Coco. Before they had gone three feet, however, the tree had mashed the branch to splinters and pursed its lips. Blue fog rolled out and around the feet of the five women, solidifying into ice! Twisting with a low growl, its branches swaying and crackling, the tree turned to Jessica and grinned. "Well. Seems this century's crop is ripe already, eh Witchblood?" The tree snickered to itself, eyes narrowing and compressing to sheer blue points in its white bark. A jet of the fog burst from its mouth, snapping into a crystalline prison around Jessica!
  11. <"Oh! I could never hope to decieve you, sir!"> Red Moon shook with feigned grief. Really, it was more annoying than anything else. She'd thought that sounded quite convincing. She'd probably low-balled on the number of children, Terresi bred like rabbits. Maybe the number of parents, too. Some had very extensive family structures that hadn't been present in the United State or the Soviet Republics- She was getting off-track. <"I confess, I am a spy! Sent by Her Majesty's enemies in-"> she hadn't thought that far. Who were their enemies in these days? Ind-...Indrya? Germans? Suddenly it dawned on her like a peal of thunder before a divine revelation. Fractious, with a cultural divide, relatively close(in the Ice Sea, somewhere) <"-Scotland! Oh, we will never rest until we have overthrown her rule, my people live and breath on such dreams!"> <"I have not the heart, nor the head for subterfuge, but I drew the blood-red lot and was sent to...to...oh, such villainy!"> Red Moon's suit rhythmically shifted and shook over her withered flesh as a fresh roll of sobs were produced.
  12. So round surprise(Witchblood cannot act) Helltree: Unharmed-GM Witchblood: Unharmed 1HP Helltree tries to Snare Jessica in its icy breath: 16. That hits her Flat-Footed, the Reflex save is DC22.
  13. Wait. On her turn Witchblood can act and do her stuffs without being hampered by needing to fit it between Actions.
  14. Initiative, if you please,Blood. 13 for the Helltree.
  15. GM Jessica felt more than heard the slight ripple of amusement among the other women, but that was quickly overtaken by a small, soft whimper. At the very edge of hearing, a cat cried out for help. Serena burst into action, her shuffling and sniffling vanishing as she transformed into a tiny ball of action. A jubilant scream of "Cocooooooooooo!" trailed after her as the young physics genius barreled off into the night to save her tiny pile of allergens and sleep-deprivation and steadfast companionship. Leaping the reservoir's frozen expanse in a single bound, Serena vanished into the black-white mass of frozen trees. Trudy spoke up first "...We should go too, just in case it's not Coco." Taking Jessica's hand in hers, she set off after their mess of a friend, the others falling in behind them, shivering and joking. Serena's trail lead to a small glade dominated by a statue of the heroine Earthsong, one of the many heroes who perished containing the Terminus invasion of 1993, when Omega walked into Freedom City and claimed the Centurion's life. She was pressed up against a taller-than-average oak, holding her arms up to the quivering bundle of off-white that could only be her Khao Manee, Mr. Coco Meowmers himself. The odd-eyed Thai cat was rooted to its perch on a low branch, his claws fully drawn as he clung with all his tiny might. "Come dowwn, Coco!" Serena sang soothingly, stepping gingerly closer, eyes fixed on her pet. "What's the matter, little skumptchiewhiskers, why'd you run away? Bad kitty!" So attentive an owner was Serena that she didn't see, though the other women did, the tree before her open two large red eyes and a large, toothy maw.

  18. Chinese again...? None of them can even see my face, what makes them think I'm Terresi?! Regardless, now was not the time. Besides, the cheap clothes, along with making her both distinctive and anonymous gave a ready-made identity. Bowing a little grandly so the red robe would sweep out, Atraxia said <"I beg your pardon, my lord, but I was sent out to pick up some work from the goldsmith. It was such a tiring time I lay down to have a rest and only just woke up."> Atraxia clasped her hands fervently <"Oh please don't let on to anyone, sir! I'll catch it most frightfully, I'll only just make it in time to the royal jeweler if I know where to find Her Majesty! Otherwise I'll lose this job, and my poor father, and my sister's three children, they'll, they'll...!"> what came after was drowned in very convincing simulacra of heart-rending sobs. Under most conditions Atraxia would have taken the noisier route, but this way seemed both more direct, less likely to make her really memorable and let her try out some of the less-used functions of her suit and speech-modulator.
  19. Skirris' guantleted claw gently took the smaller Kolastian's hand, drawing the woman closer. With a searing roar and a gout of silver-black light, the two vanished, the concealing flare flickering out a moment later. The two reappeared in an abandoned alleyway, deep within the city's original maze of twists and precariously-leaning towers. Skirris banged on her chest. "Skir-ris. Skir-ris," she gestured to herself in general "Ski-rris" Glancing around, Skirris quickly made several "hold on a second" gestures she hoped would translate, then began sketching in the dust. First she showed four figures: an armored one for Cavalier, one with a staff for Sri Sitara, one with a cape for Sri Val-Ren and a slightly more naturalistic sketch for herself. She showed them all following different paths but arriving at one location inside of a circled thing that might have been a city if you squinted. Next she showed two separate choices: one, the prisoner and Skirris going to meet the other three, the next, showing Skirris taking the prisoner outside the city far away. Suddenly recalling, Hyperslice hurriedly tapped the commlink connecting her with the others "Hey I'm still in the city, but might not be soon, uh...see you at the rendezvous. Bye."
  20. Gliding in near-silence through the room, Atraxia drifted until she was just behind the man's chair. Craning her neck, she squinted at the chicken-scratches he was making on the paper. The terrasuit's translators murmured to life, labeling the language as "Vani-derivative: Latin(corrupted)" and translating the lines in the flicker between seconds. It was something to do with the local law system, which instantly killed Atraxia's interest. She had been a spy, once, but she had never been good with people or the systems governing them. But if this man had something to do with the law system, and was in a government building, and was, for a human, old, he just might know something. Red Moon glanced at the door. She could be out in a second, barely a whisper as her dispersed form slipped through the electron net. Atraxia turned back to the man as he laid down the pen with a weary sigh, spreading his fingers and methodically stretching and massaging cramped muscles. Nobody else was in sight, she could just drop through the floor or turn invisible. Bending close to the man's head she said <"Excuse me, sir, but which way to Her Majesty the Queen of England?">
  21. OOC thread for this thread. Jessica Witchblood debuts, and faces a demon tree. Will she win? Who knows. Will you survive? No. @Jessica Witchblood OOC thread Blood.
  22. GM January 1'st, 2018, 6.43PM Cold as hell and with freezing winds blowing in off the Atlantic Liberty Park, Freedom City "Well, he's not in the north woods. He's probably dead, let's go home." Trudy shoved the scarf back up over her mouth, looking longingly at the apartment block rising up to the east. Beside the frozen Heroes Knoll reservoir, overlooking the tall and brassy statues celebrating the fallen crimefighters of Freedom City's past, it was hard not to sympathize. There was no protection from the wind and the temperature would have been below zero anyway. It was increasingly unlikely Mr. Meowmers would have gotten this far. The other five in the party muttered agreement, though Marsha did give the instigator of their four-hour long search a gentle side-hug. But Serena, red-eyed and bundled up like a bison, was made of more obstinate stuff. "H-h-he's j-j-jussst cur-r-rled up-p s-s-s-'mwere. Got-t-a k-keep looking!" She looked up at Jessica in mute appeal. A fresh, savage punch of wind hissed and rattled among the trees, splashing icily against the search party.
  23. GM The man shot, recognizable as the one who'd been yelling earlier, bit back a bark as he went spinning and flailing through thin air, legs looped and locked straining as his arms cartwheeled in a desperate effort to regain equilibrium. "You can do it, boss!" one of the other men yelled, taking a shot at the Scarab that whinged off her shield. "I know! I'm fine! Don't stop watching the target!" despite his words the leader took a mighty swing on his chord, passing a hair from the building! "We believe in you, sir!" Another hollered earnestly, absent-mindedly firing a searing-hot lump of metal at a hypothetical point several feet to the left of the Scarab. "Shut up! Focus!" Struggling to lift his upper body, fighting against centrifugal force, the leader was getting red in the face. "League regulations stipulate a minimum of five encouraging statements per associate per assignment." The last had been taking their time, lining up the shot with great care. When they fired with a sharp, sudden crak, Kamala felt like something had punched her in the chest! "Just getting our kicks in!"
  24. It hits, DC27 Toughness save: 28. He shrugs off the blow, but has to make a DC20 Reflex save or be Helpless next round as he tries to regain control of his zipline: 16. The other Bears: 21, 15, 12. One hit, DC20 TOU save, please. Then Scarab is up.
  25. "Who is not present?" Sur-Gor scanned the room carefully, noting the relative positions of the attendees, the various passengers and spectators ruminating over who was in favour and who was suspicious, who was curious and who was just tired and had sat down in the first empty chair. While the Speaker would not have dared to speculate, their attendant guests of the manymind had no such scruples. Among the habits they had licked up from the loneminds of Lor space was gossip. A few of the faces had appeared before in other contexts and soon Sur-Gor's focus was slowly being worn away by the sea of theories and rampant one-upmanship for how lurid thise theories could get. Very suddenly, for no clear reason, Sur-Gor smacked themself on the side of the head. "Regardless, we must waste no time. Sri Sstetsson, how many are you? are you travelling with any other beings? what sorts of planets do you and/or they find most habitable? Recently there has been a great war across the three major local powers against an artificial intelligence which attempted to render our worlds uninhabitable so it could turn them into processor relays. This region of space, what we call the Sharahazad Sector, is home to just over 1,001 known planets, of which 72 are judged marginally-habitable by all known members of the Coalition. 15 are largely habitable, but will require considerable work to grant your people proper qualities of life. Two, Ahl-Uden and Jass-Miin, are rich in biodiversity, plentiful resources and access to local trade lanes but are nominally claimed by their respective sapient inhabitants." "Which brings us to our final question: do you intend to stay?"
