GM "Gah! Sonuva-!" With an inarticulate snarl, the man in the suit swerved off course, spinning and rolling as he went smashing through trunks and branches, evergreens splintering and crashing in the two combatants' wake as they arced through the dripping boughs and soaked birds' nests. In moments hundreds of years of life was torn to pieces and splattered across the hillside. In the struggle Tona was flung off the would-be kidnapper's back, hurtling at incredible speed through the forest as the man unleashed a hail of rockets that collided with and burst harmlessly among the treetops. At the Retreat, a significant number of the Martials' drones fumbled and fell back to Earth, letting their wailing human cargo collapse onto the floor, blessedly free of waiting glass shards. Emily followed her boss's directions without hesitation, the room milling with confusion and anger and fear as Mars stood stock still on the stage, staring out at nothing.

I genuinely thought I had posted this. I am so sorry. As discussed in Chat Asad can and does, first order of business though is a Standard Action against the droneswarm, a Shockwave with an effect rank of 10. No Reflex/etc for the drones because no just excuse for it. DC25 Toughness: Result. Six go down, eight are unaffected, seven are just Bruised, eight are Dazed. so 15 are still wholly in the game, becoming 3 blocks of 5 each with four people per drone. Another Dex check (DC25), which Blue Jay passes automatically, she has another shot at the Martial. TA you mentioned Asad doing a Fastball Special with Blue Jay? Still want that? Raveled, your thoughts?

GM Out in the hallway, the Capture Crew turned out to be five people in body armor with guns. None of them seemed to have anything more advanced than the 1990's. One of the Crew, his head masked by a generic helmet that looked oddly like the Power Corps', jerked yards backwards when the android hove into view. "Hey-! Oh! Oh ****. It's Sojourner!" "Citizen." one of the others corrected, lowering his gun on hands that pivoted too far for human wrists "At ease, he's bulletproof." "Well now what?" "Hail the night!" "Dark-I mean, Cap Five, shut up." A fourth, whose armor didn't hide glowing shoulder bones, piped up hopefully "What if we set off the bomb?" "Would that work?" "No idea, I'll ask." The apparent leader turned to Citizen "Hey, Steel Sentinelsman, we set up a bomb earlier, it's rated for 5 decaPhalanxes, that do anything to you? It was just for the building, so we stashed it in the basement's broom closet under the sink, but we can move it up here." "...Should you have said any of that." "Well I started the timer already and it's a long-ass ways from here. Besides what's he gonna do, not deal with it?" Meanwhile, the South Emerald's police department was slowly warming to the idea of tips sent straight from superheroes, an affirmative message and rough ETA(10 minutes) arriving moments after Sharl's call. A little less composed was the crowd stuck in the cramped metal box behind Citizen. Warp could feel the fear and fraying nerves around her. The fact that Citizen in his flowing coat was immune to bullets wouldn't make much difference if a stray shot got past him. The lights staying stubbornly off didn't help

Not hard at all. People are pretty distracted by the prospect of being held hostage and those strobing gun-flashlights are taking up a lot of peoples' attention to boot.

Kolo could you give me a flat 1d2/'coin toss' roll? 1, it gets in, 2 it does not. Meanwhile Kika's newly-altered state has been noticed, as has the bizarre actions of the amulet-having Yakuza soldier. Under the pretext of helping out, the guy's buddy moves to grab Kimo. Jun and Paris try to stop him, because friends don't let friends get nabbed by the Mob. Diplomacy check: 12. Ordinarily the guy would be Friendly to Paris, but the circumstances, plus getting in the way of gumi business, slide him down to Indifferent, so that's not enough. Suddenly things are tense. Jun and Paris won't back down, but neither will the Hawk's men.

... I am sorry, Kolohehonu, I totally forgot about the part where I explain what Kika now knows. Which is this: the amulet was supposedly given to this gumi decades ago by one of the mythical yatagarasu, the sun birds of folklore. It's been used by this guy before, and really badly messes up mages. They've had a warning that one is going to be here tonight and are sure it's Kimo.

GM It was hard not to know at least the basics about all the major corps in the Emerald City of the Oregon bank, but this called for spexific information. Everyone already knew about the Hermits, how they went everywhere in odd, concealing masks that disguised their real faces even while their long coats hid their bodies. How their isolation on Oceanside, in their quasi-alien fortress-like complex, helps keep their secrets even while swearing all new recruits into those same secrets. How their complex had sprung up soon after the last Grue invasion, their rambling tirades about the coming digital deliverance, their fascination with aliens and alien life, their enormous disinterest in actually meeting one live, how they had loudly been after a defence contract for quite some time, But Peri knew more, the kinds of things that were glossed over and forgotten by everyone who didn't have to work with their obscure and maddening tech every week, even a few who did.

As usual(relatively), there was the sharp snap of two minds coming mystically into sync, Kimo feeling the rush of alien sensations clashing and then mingling with his own, the stream of another's thoughts sliding through his conciousness. But instead of the familiar sounds of English, it was a series of terse, staccato Japanese sentences. Occasional flashes of silver, a picture of a crow with three legs, a flaming motorcycle crash with something red and wailing in the wreck. But without knowing the language, there wasn't any way to tie it all together. Oblivious to this, the bartender hollered "No bats, kid!" Turning their attention suddenly to another he barked, one arm unfolding into a muscular signpost "Fishy!" Ishmael froze, looking momentarily like a startled deer, before turning a brilliant grin to the bartender. "Aro!" he sang out, sauntering over to the bar and leaning casually against it "What's the kaz? How's the Old Hawk? Got you juicing up kids again, you deserve better'n this." For answer, Aro poured out a double-dose of the rice wine into a clean bowl and handed it over. "From the Silver Dragon, with compliments!" he said with a knowing wink "He's got an eye on you, Fishy, keep it up!" Laughing and taking the wine like it was the most natural thing in the world, Ishmael wandered back through the press of students, gulping at the clear liquid to steady his nerves. All but literally stumbling upon Jun was such a relief his smile briefly turned genuine. Until he noticed the Pacific boy she was with. A complication, a stranger. "Oh!" Jun tugged excitedly on Kimo's shirt, pointing at a Native guy with a ponytail who had just breached the surrounding dancers "Imo, this is Paris! We used to hang out at the college! Paris, this is my bestie Kimo, get in here and meet the Grumposaurus!" Believing he'd caught Kimo's eye, the other boy rolled his meaningfully as he strolled over to the Hawai'ian hero, offering his hand cordially.

Will save: 6. However, Kika needs to make a DC10 Intelligence roll to make out what he's thinking, as it's in Japanese. Thankfully most of the words are ones he's at least vaguely clear on the meaning of.

DC5: Ming Xi Visions makes security systems and, according to rumor, super-tech for select clients. DC10: Ming Xi Visions' designs are notorious for being inexplicably impossible to replicate or circumvent by normal people. Their hand in the self-repairing substances being implemented around Emerald City, Oregon, has given them a near-monopoly in maintenance of major infrastructure. DC15: Ming Xi Visions has access to the security systems on both sides of the river, along with official permission to study alien technology recovered on Earth.

The strategically-arranged darkness of the Teahouse swept away, the blaring lights weakening until a perfect hunter's light spanned the room. Behind his bamboo counter the smiling man, his face tired and irritated without the darkness to hide it, took out two small bowls and a clay jug marked with a hawk's head, pouring a measure into each of the bowls followed with a pinch of cinnamon. Swirling the solution a little, he handed both teens a bowl of rice wine, hollering over the music "Enjoy! On the Teahouse!" Sake and cinnamon normally didn't go together, but the aroma coming from the bowl was sharper and heavier than normal, the spice lending a ticklish sweetness that mixed perfectly. Of course actually tasting would be something else. Sake needed to be taken slow, in sips- Jun grabbed her drink with a garbled "'Gato!", tipped her head back and poured the bowl straight down her throat. For a moment she staggered, eyes wide and gulping, but after those perilous seconds she gasped, let out a whoop and flung an arm around Kimo, yelling in his ear "Imo! Try it! It's like getting hit in the face with a brick!" Behind the pair Kimo had seen two other men start to approach when Jun froze, but they'd stopped and remingled with the crowd when the threat passed. They looked like the bartender(South islands Japanese, if Kimo was any judge) and looked openly at her and Kimo, talking anxiously into each other's ears. One, a little older than the other, with a slim black mustache, made some rapid motion that got instant disapproval from his friend, At his vantage point, Ishmael stiffened a little when he saw the enforcers start to move. 'There we go. Follow those. Hero time.' Leaving his backpack under the table, he set out for the mini-bar. Catching sight of a Chinese girl with dyed-purple hair, he changed direction to go say hi to Jun. Get a witness so his presence wouldn't be so weird.

Nothing is put into the drinks, but on activating his powers Kika sees two of the "old-timers"(the cute tea bar nickname for Yakuza reps) start a little and pay much closer attention to him and Jun. One of them slips what looks like an amulet into the palm of their hand, the thing pulsing with something cold and silvery to Kika's otherworldly eyes.

The looming alien scowled at his internal scoreboard "Hm! Inarguable victory to the civic exceptionals. We declare these games closed. Ultimates! We warn that you must fulfill your side of the bargain or receive all applicable pentalties. Winner's choice of venue, loser pays all bills. We must recuse ourselves from the festivities," Dol-Druth nodded curtly to the players "though we had a most invigorating time. Hammer, in future we request that other events on this world be judged by the Manymind." "Avian Jann, may we ask you some questions?" The planet inspector took out his comm and tapped it into life "Basic ones, the Republic is curious if your kind is related to the Eleas and we have learned some of your history from the League that encourages this theory." "Miracle, we will be sure to ask for your and Valiant's presence at Coalition Victory Station. There have been developments that concern Earth and we would welcome a trusted native." Turning finally to the even more imposing shape of Phalanx, the hive-mind bureaucrat added tersely "Phalanx, we wish to meet with your partner, Psyche. What must be done to make it so?"

GM Raul's despairing howl echoed with the song of Warp's havoc-wreaking lance of entropic power, the electronics, focus crystals and machinery that made the slender window into Kat's Earth possible dissolving into nothing, melting like snow under a flamethrower. The world-window began to shudder and crackle, its harsh edges growing fuzzier and its shape warping erratically, the image of the ASTRO Labs showroom and the floor full of mechanical dinosaurs grew rapidly out of focus. Then it happened, hardly a second after Warp had opened fire. The searing power of entropy blasted through frail metal and wires, and hit a massive crystal. A giant shield-shaped chunk of gleaming quartz-like brilliance. The death-stroke that hit it cracked and shattered the thing, but sent an arcing burst of Warp's own power mingled with the decaying energy trapped in the crystal straight into her face. The whole world grew horribly sharp. Sounds, sights, scents and pressures grew to agonizing levels of acuteness. Kat suddenly knew what to say to make Raul listen, could feel the current of life itself tying her to the universe and saw where the gnawing hunger in her led. Soon as it came the clarity was torn away and she was in a broken mad science lair with a weeping dinosaur on the floor. With another, much larger dinosaur dressed in some kind of uniform and shaking the scientist with their teeth. "Ssethuss! Mentor! What happened, who is this?" Their tail flicked towards Warp, but the hulking thing kept its wary distance. The brick-red monster with his grotesque brain, meanwhile, could only mumble "All lost...all gone...all dead..." Over and over. The small, shrinking tear between worlds shone feebly in the air, still locked between the grasping metal claws of the lab.

"Yeah, not a bats idea. I'll check the tech, see if that maomew was trying some weird jigo, like making Emerald Tower blow up. I think that's what Jersey villains do." Ishmael glanced down at the crackling man-shaped static still caught in a warp of impossible space. His first real battle. His first real victory, not just running interference against the Dragons and the Hawks and sending tips to the cops knowing he couldn't ever say all he knew. He grinned cockily, which came through much better without the lower half of his mask to hide it. "Couldn't have done it without you, Spider! We make a good team, should get together more, beat up more bad guys, see where it goes, you know?" Zipping over to the computer in the corner, Ishmael tapped a key experimentally. In a silent explosion of light, the files on DA Everett's flash drive jolted into sight. Along with a progress bar that said "Uploading..." The Salmon shrugged. Stan Stone was a public figure without a skeleton in his closet or a blemish to his private life. Unless Faster Pussycat was some kind of law nerd who was obsessed with mild deviations from federal regulations she wouldn't have much worth reading. Even the Mafiya didn't bother with him. "Hey, Em? You mind taking a look at this? It's uploading files from the thumby, might as well find out where she's storing it, right? I don't wanna risk getting it wrong." Meanwhile, Spider had gone to check on the captured would-be supervillainess. Faster Pussycat was still lying on the metal slab of the rafter, but was slowly, painfully stirring, groaning and flinching as she tried to get to her feet. Then her blackened eye lit on Peri. With a shriek of alarm, the blonde lurched to her feet, hurled herself to the floor and hit it running. She rocketed out a window. One second later there was a squawk and a slap of something colliding with Sha'ir's marshmallow-augmented fence. "What...the Hell is that?" Ishmael asked flatly, staring out at the still-wobbling wall where the other speedster floundered in the sweetest prison.

Grgh. Okay, so it is Linked Damage/Stun, both rank 9. So neither hero evades it but Leviathan shakes off the Damage pretty easy. Both of you need to make a DC19 Fortitude save. @Exaccus, DC24 Toughness save, please. Rayzer's saves: Reflex is 29. Ranks of effect are halved: 15 on Toughness, Dazed and Bruised and Injured. 19 on Fortitude, so not Stunned. The shot was aimed at him.

There are a bunch in the Cosmic Handbook, though fair warning most of them are a little weaksauce and need some tweaking.
