"'Prepare yourselves'" Dol-Druth growled when Blue Jay had returned and shown the others what she'd found, black eyes squinting nearly out of sight "A flagrant act of pre-meditated terrorism and public destruction. Reprehensible." Inspecting the slabs of calcium, the alien emissary added dubiously "This 'Coleman Naturals', it hardly sounds like the name of some criminal enterprise or political organization. We will search for information your worldnet about it. If that fails, we will ask permision to scan the memories of nearby citizens, see if they have any relevant recollections." Lumbering over to where his holo-cor had falled, the Speaker of Dotrae carefully set back up the folding chair he'd been sitting on just before the attack and swiped in the activation code. In short order the pallid being was breezing along the information supralanes, billions of minds searching tirelessly for information on this mysterious "Coleman Naturals".

One small note, Pumpkin, you can save the stuff about Ghazan for a Guidebook entry, which would both be more appropriate, make the sheet more compact and easier to read and keep that information where most people would look to find it.

For names: Mix, Chip, Flux, anything to do with motion and/or change should be a good start/fit. Only real question I have is why he would go all "we" in the first place, since the Communion was directed by a single (now very dead)consciousness. This would be a little more like Derin's Medic, the recreation and upgrade of an existing being rather than the combination of two distinct entities. At least that's what I gather from the write-up.

GM Endeavor This area of the base or whatever it was had been a much higher priority than the holding cells. The flooring looked almost new, and the lighting and ventilation looked like it was at lesst from this century. The place was some kind of segmented testing area, with mini-labs arranged in a rough circle below the all-seeing eyes of an observation deck whose windows sparkled with frosted glass. The cells had small portholes looking in, and were numbered, but the numbers didn't follow any clear pattern. Room 00002 was right next to the door, with 01088 on the other side. The air was still and silent save for a faint electrical humming, and a harsh indigo light crackled from the porthole of 0002. Facsimile "Wait...nothing?" The voice was utterly baffled "That...but the read-outs..." There was a long, fuming silence. "Oh well, maybe you just need to get more attuned. Have some more napalm. Activate the burny-bot!" Once more the turret slid out of the white void, aimed its nozzle at the force-field-contained young mimicker, and once again a stream of flammable acid burst against the crystalline Claremonter. It was all too easy to forget how much pain hurt. Even pain that was really the abstracted stresses of a silicate gem structure.

GM Monday opened his mouth, closed it again, and looked at Dr. Fielder for salvation. Luckily the physicist was still in high spirits and quickly resumed where he'd left off. The rest of the presentation and meeting was fairly conventional, besides the subject matter. There were videos showing the practical applications of redshift devices in cases from industrial safety gear to preventing fatal train collisions and personal flight. There was an entire five minutes of film showing Fielder and some of his colleagues slowing photons emanating from a desk lamp into a hard sphere of solid light. "Really hurt when Amy threw it at my head!" Lavernius added cheerfully before turning to a dizzying array of test results and the finer points of what worked and to what extent. Thankfully Lavernius was one of those engineers who knew how to explain things in ways non-technically-oriented people could understand. Even more luckily, he didn't appear to know that pop-culture existed, and opportunities for amazingly bad jokes slid by in a blissful fog. The part explaining that suits like what he wore were a prototype for rescue workers to explore collapsed or damaged buildings to locate survivors of disaster was greatly overshadowed by the sheer potential of the new energy source. At last the brisk yet thorough presentation came to a close, Dr. Fielder clicked off the projector and turned to Amir hopefully. "In conclusion, what this technology does best is make the fast, dangerous pace of modern life less risky. With sufficient backing we could all but eliminate car crashes as a cause of death, prevent deadly falls, slow the spread of fires, extend the time people have to reach medical care, almost every danger imaginable can be alleviated with this discovery. That's just the beginning. Just the obvious stuff for current technology and current science. "What do you think?"

Leaning back to give his elbows a break, Dol-Druth nodded along with #1-4 as they outlined their views, which were quite optimistic. "It takes a village to raise a child." It was hard for the manymind to disagree with a saying like that. Dotrae had been collectively raising their young since before modern humans existed, and younger cultures too often hoarded and fetishized their children as prizes and status symbols. On Zultas, letting another parent your child was just asking for the destruction of your house and all you owned. Or just outsourced infanticide. Maybe it's too soon to say We have not pressed "Very encouraging, introspection," the planet inspector said after a long silence "but is there much interest in that kind of unison? It is hardly a secret that on Earth, like on many other developing worlds, cooperation and compromise are seen as a sign of weakness. What could change this? Is this already changing? What is the likely effect of regionally-speciated exceptionals on this process? Given the encouragement of violence among baseline humans, is New Freedom likely to lose the benefits of its neutrality in the case of international cooperation?" Starting, the Speaker realized he had been reciting the programme text verbatim. Scowling irritably he dumped the remainder of his muffin into the now stone-cold coffee and tipped his head back to empty the lot down his throat. Swallowing noisly, the visiting Lor muttered "Sorry." "If I may ask, would open interstellar contact help this process as well? With the wormhole to Magna-Lor, and this planet the site of many rare artifacts and certain minerals, commerce is likely to start with your world's underworld very soon."

GM Ana's reply to Tristan was to set her jaw and glower at the floor. After a moment she began reluctantly to explain. "He is...was, the king of the world of Konteel, husband of its queen Variste and father of my dearest friend, Princess Elzaya. For many years there was peace between them and the rest of the Seventeen Worlds, protected from outsiders by the great Scourge Barrier that prevents any living thing from passing through it. But recently some great change has come over Rylon, the gentle man is now a tyrant who sees enemies everywhere, and enslaved my world for supposed "traffic with enemies of the Infraverse." But that is impossible!" Pacing vigorously back and forth, the princess went on "The other worlds are now controlled by a network of organitech gates, which only the Konteeli or their collaborators can use. If we can shut those down there's a chance we can win, but even defeating thousands of Gralusian Berserkers or battlebeasts won't be enough. Rylon is being...controlled by something. Or someone." Reaching up to her face, Ana removed the visor covering it, revealing eyes that shone with a vivid silver light "Before we were forced to flee I and my friends had fought our way to the throne room of Konteel, and I saw some presence in the emperor's heart. I am sure it is his brother, Bylar. The man has always resented Rylon's successes and the queen's innovations, and recently had made a suit of orgtec armor that lets him influence the wills of others. Rylon and Variste are heavily guarded, but Bylar is not. If we can get to him, and thwart the gates, victory will be ours!" Behind Ana, now wearing her earlier smile of perfect confidence, Ak'Ro stood still and silent as the grave while Tek vigorously twirled one finger next to his head.

Grab some stuff and get your stuff back! This room, for simplicity's sake, gives you access to three extra Easy-to-Lose Devices up to rank 4, with whatever Powers you like, for the duration of this thread. Maybe something that messes with electricity/controls electronics to open doors, or magnetism to bring the fan and vent down on the technicians' heads(they have helmets, they'll be just fine), or a short-range space-warper to just walk into the room.

GM Endeavor The Equipment Lab resembled a vast arsenal surrounding a surgical theater, racks and shelves and lockers of technology ranging from the crude and rustily human to the gleaming and distinctly alien, while behind tinted ballistic glass lay a sterile white room with a long table under blazing lights. The door between the two areas was effectively an airlock, with the same keycard setup as Endeavor's cell but some kind of retinal scanner in addition. Two people in the same uniform as Sakurako and Alex's captors were poring over the X1 Suit and EM Wand, bee-like drones buzzed through the room, monitors on the examination room's walls showing the readouts of their scanners. Besides the small robots and the two people, the Lab was empty, with the air of an office during overtime. A very large, very hefty looking fan ventilated the inner room's air, directly above the technicians. Facsimile The world melted away before Alex's eyes, or at least the walls did. Row on row of cells identical to his slid past, almost all seemingly empty, all but one directly adjacent to his. Up above was a room crowded with people in uniforms like that of his visitor peering into screens and typing at keyboards, one sitting before a microphone and looking down at Alex. Inside what looked like a Faraday cage, a crackling blue something bounced and rebounded off of the copper walls, an erratic voice hissing "LeTmEOUtMEoUTOUUUUUU-krszhhhhhh" a soothing purple ray shone from the ceiling, stopping the ball in its tracks. With that distraction out of the way, a much more familiar voice said seemingly in the boy's ear "Transfer between Shard fragment and subject working perfectly! Just one repeat to be sure, and 13505 will be ready to sync with 00002, and then we can send for the alien subjects. I like the two blue kids, be useful to just hand out psychic powers without months of gene therapy. Fire up the burny-bot!" Leaning forward, the observer repeated his question "Can you see anything new?"

GM "Uhhh...hi. No, y-you don't..." Blinking up at Corbin, Violet wondered if this was what it would feel like to give King Arthur a parking ticket. Suddenly recovering, she squared herself even more and began hurriedly "Sorry, sir, but that's not all! Under IRC amendment..." Looking at the stapled sheaf of paper she'd fished out of her briefcase, the agent stopped dead. Through some dark miracle, the printing had skipped the title of the document. Rallying, Violet thrust the stack of paper into the superhero's hand and went on "...this one, establishing a superhero headquarters in public land owned by the federal or civic government carries an increase in applicable tax rates due to the risks of damage and injury to the environment, persons and nearby property. Freedom Hall doesn't count because it's on land owned by the Beaumont family, but since you have this setup under your heroic identity we need some kind of security in the event something horrible happens. I'm here to go over some paperwork with you to resolve this to your and my agency's mutual satisfaction. We're prepared to accept non-monetary exchanges given the 'mystical' nature of your superheroic wheelhouse." At least this time the verbal quotation marks around 'mystical' had an implied "for lack of a better way to describe it". Pausing as she searched the briefcase again, the purple woman squinted through the glare into Cobalt Templar's helmet/face and added "Uh, also you recently acquired something that I need to make a claim for. The-" swallowing hard, Violet clarified "-the Nightstone of Zefir In'Dego. My father."

GM Chandler didn't follow up at first, and as Robin's voice stopped the only sounds were her own heartbeat, the tap-tap of the stylus, the rustle of fabric, the faint noises of the city just outsde and a small sad voice. Looks just like her...same eyes...should never have to see something like that... "Dr. Marquez mentioned something similar, in the first and only time he talked about his work with Wander with me. Gabriel doesn't like me, doesn't think I've noticed." Putting the tablet on the nearby table, Chandler folded his hands against his stomach and rested his head against the sumptuous chair back, his eyes shut "He called it "survival abstraction", akin to how American soldiers fought to defeat and slaughter 'Charlie' and 'Communists', but got along with Viet Cong veterans better than American anti-war protestors and draft-dodgers. It's part of why the term "villain" and "hero" have been adopted by masks on both sides of the law." The man opened his eyes and smiled "It is a very good sign that you can sympathize with these..." his shining eyes flicked to the tablet and back to Robin "...Ferals, Mz. Chevalier. But given the circumstances and the threat they posed, you and your comrades decided they had to die." "Did you want there to be another way? I understand that apart from the...changed Atom Family, they were no match for you or the others, though they are extremely dangerous to an ordinary citizen like me." At the word "ordinary", Chandler grimaced wryly and glanced at his shattered desk.

Quickly, before this lasts long enough for me to cause any further damage! With a gasp and a grimace, the towering alien raised one hand into the air, the limb surrounded by a halo of azure light. Clenching his teeth and shutting his eyes, Dol-Druth and millions of other Dotrae across the galaxy willed their undead enemies into the air, wrenching them from the grip of Earth's gravity with a whiplash of psychic force that made him reel. And as the bony things reached apogee, The Speaker swung his hand down. After the dust had settled, Dol-Druth trudged over to the human exceptional who'd burst into flames. Extending his pudgy hand, the manyminded being offered "Dol-Druth, speaking for Dotrae. We have an interest in ensuring the peace of this planet during our inspection, and wish to offer our help in capturing the anti-social deviant responsible for is gross outrage." He waved to the human warrior with the strange weapons, beckoning them closer. No sense in shutting out local help, they'd doubtless understand whatever alien motives were at play better than them. He scowled and glanced at the ruined street "As well, do you know the location of this metropolitan centre's civic works rotunda? We have...rather urgent business with them."

So, old place, need for larger avenues for maintaining the still larger infrastructure. As she goes, Endeavor spots a well-hidden hatchway that leads into the inner workings of the base. And odds are pretty good that stuff leads to the other, likely more advanced areas that see more frequent use, while being relatively unguarded and unobserved. Long story short, Endeavor is now in the guts of the complex, there's clearly-marked signage to help the engineers who come down here, with Barracks, Test Chambers, Equipment Lab and Operation Hub the most notable and most dependent on all the stuff Endeavor currently has access to.

"Lots of time, little to do, plenty of things lying around." Atraxia waved the Herculean feat her Warrens represented away with a twinge of self-satisfaction. Crouching nearer to the viewplate, she brought the competing strands of nanotech closer into focus, her black helmet reflecting off it and dimming Jerry's view "Besides, I needed a new lab, my old one in Farside City very old-fashioned, take too long to properly refurbish and update. This, much better." "And new equipment leads to better information. This fragment," a spindly finger tapped the plate over the Communion piece "like a dead skin cell, will break down without nearby material to convert into inactive computronium. The subspace intellect that controlled its form and activity is not sending it any new orders, and its only function is conversion and reception/transmission suitable for instantaneuous conversation between systems. Keep it in a magnetic field and it cannot harm anything!" "This, however, some slight danger," the finger tapped over the gleaming, bone-like shard of the Gorgon. Red Moon folded her arms and studied it closely for a moment before venturing "however, the Preserver construct only uses these to immobilize and...preserve objects. These are not the same as those used to alter the Guardian Willow, and so far as I know their purposes are separate and distinct. With these supporting the Communanites, the Gorgonanites should make any computational system virtually indestructible." "So far as we know the Communion Mothership was not important, the subspace-intellect was; the nanotech is merely a matter-space extension, not the true shape, of that intelligence. From all accounts it was thoroughly dispersed by your kind." The willowy alien bowed "We thank you."

GM Dr. Chandler's eyes crinkled nearly out of sight as he beamed. "Such a positive attitude! That is a pleasant change, though you didn't hear that from me." Settling back fully into the chair, one long leg crossing over another, the doctor scribbled away busily "Mz. Summers quite fits your assessment, at least from my point of view. She and her father are passionate believers in the capability of any reasoning being to be redeemed." "Which brings us to our next topic." Chandler peered over his tablet "You call these...things you killed "monsters". In my experience such a word is not used lightly. Why, if I may, do you call them that? You say they looked like people, but ar-were not? Would you elaborate?" Twirling the silver-lined stylus between his fingers, the man watched Robin's face intently, his dark eyes seeming almost to glow from the dim light cast through the window.
