  1. That is good, now what is the intended effect? Tristan was rolling to find out about the Bee, is Valerie also helping out there, and Terrifica too for their various reasons? Just want to know what exactly the aim is.
  2. Well, since you offered, sure make a Fatigue check! The Life Sciences is not quite as useful as it might have been if Tristan had Galaxtice Lore on top of it. Without much to compare it to, it's like a kind of metal-based fungus with a few traits of bacteria in the mix. With only two days there's not much time to learn more fine details, but for all its seeming intricacy the Bee is very simple creature. Further rolls will reveal more, and arranging help and/or focusing on specific points will give very useful information.
  3. GM Tesla looked uncharacteristically blank. "Voices? Someone talking?" she frowned thoughtfully, glancing at the Gate and back to Velocity "It...could be that on the way back you brushed into a weak bit of space-time. Occasionally travelers manifest partially in transit, able to sense and be sensed by others. Some ghost stories came about that way. Alternatively," her frown deepened "you briefly went through another Earth, but so many things would have to be the same for that to happen that I can't even call it a probabilityy. Regardless, it happened once, no harm was done, and I'll just check my math a few dozen times more to be on the safe side." With a reassuring (and grateful) smile Tesla headed for the Gate. "See you aboard!" With relatively little fanfare, the Beagle's Endeavour(which lasted ten minutes before being shortened to "Bee") set off into the red void, headed for a round planet-looking body the Atoms had been to several times before. Getting settled was remarkably easy for even the least-adventurous of the A.S.T.R.O. crew. The Bee was full of unfamiliar smells and sounds, but the quarters had gently yellow lights and seemed to shift in accordance with the needs of their inhabitants, growing and contracting, adding and removing amenities to fit even the fussiest. Besides which, there was a lot to do. Velocity and a team of the technicians had to put together the Pegasus space-plane in the spacious round dock, Tristan, Terrifica and Tesla had their hands full setting up the equipment for external data gathering and calibrating the equipment in the laboratories with Freedom Cross' findings, Maximus kept himself out of the way on the bridge, Chase methodically checked their supplies with Cosmo and Victoria gleefully played tour guide/documentary host for Wayward's camera crew. Jack Wolf had come aboard, but he kept himself to himself, and the old man had an uncanny knack for not being in rooms you could swear you'd seen him in ten seconds ago. ALEX was a blur of vintage robotic worry, racing between the Infraworld and Earth-Prime a dozen times before he was satisfied that absolutely everything "the children" needed was there, then returning to Earth to keep Dr. Atom company. The Bee was a kind of symbiotic life-form, artificially created by one of the more advanced species in the Infraworld centuries ago. Chase had managed to awaken and establish contact with it, and with its unerring sense for life to crew it the Bee had steered them well clear of the Wasteworlds that scattered the microuniverse. Shaped like a peanut shell(personnel and bridge fore, dock, power heart and cargo hold aft) at present, their craft sped through the tingling lifeglow at what must have been trans-light speeds. "We have no idea how this thing flies," Victoria Atom told the camera crew carelessly "but T is pretty sure it's gravitons. We'll find out this trip for sure!" Their flight to Halluel, the massive green-blue orb where the Atom Family had first found the Bee, took only two days. As the rotund glowcraft drifted into orbit, Tesla's voice rang over the P.A. system "Welcome to our first stop, people! A little piece of paradise to start us off. Who's up for a ground mission? Meet us in the dock, don't carry too much, we can send down anything we need later."
  4. Definitely not. And hope my replies bridge the line between wallowing in the consequences and brushing it off. I appreciate such direct interaction, but as I hope you'll agree probably best to let the really serious drama happen later on, when the Steaks are Razed.
  5. GM "It does not do anything to organic matter." Chase explained briefly to Daphne as he shouldered his bag and glanced at his luggage, a flash of gold in his eyes bringing it floating to his side. "But sometimes sapient will can alter probability, like the probability something will or will not happen, like the probability that stepping into a portal will or will not take you somewhere else. Fiddly, but usually works out fine. Tesla worries too much. Maximus and Victoria do not listen very often to much but "not safe", either. Go-to stop phrase." He glanced at the altercation between his sister and Wayward. Smiling faintly, he set out for the portal, motioning for Daphne and Terrifica to follow him as Cosmo clung and chattered exictedly to the boy's shoulder. With a chime, he vanished, appearing on the other side and making his way down the corridor dimly visible through the Gate.
  6. GM The hundred-odd trips were, from Velocity's perspective, remarkably uneventful. Just a blur of the dark silver room of the glowship with its pulsating walls and red sky visible through a nearby eccentrically-shaped viewscreen, then the red-blue rush back to the stark Gateway. Then back to the ship, then back to the Gateway, then back, then forth. Only once did something unusual happen, and it was during the brief trips back to Earth-Prime. She distinctly heard a man's voice say, very surprised "Bounce! What was-?" But then it was gone, and nothing else interrupted the lightning-fast commutes between dimensions. The last one took her back just in time to see Wayward walk up and punch Tesla Atom in the face. The other woman stumbled back, holding her mouth and looking in bafflement at the showbiz heroine as she sharply reprimanded her, then went to check on Velocity. The people from ASTRO Labs, shocked briefly into silence by Valerie's unexpected outrage, began muttering amongst each other dubiously. The reaction from the Atoms was varied, but subdued. Maximus looked awkward, Victoria shrugged and headed quickly over to Wayward, while Chase raised his head sharply when the attack happened but after a rapid exchange of looks between he and Tesla went back to setting up the bags he was bringing along. "Let's leave them to it, doctor." Maximus adivsed Tristan in a low voice. Louder he called "Let's get going, people!" Growing to twice his normal size, the Atom hefted his gear onto his back and shoulders, stepping through the Gate into the ship beyond. The technicians and researchers eagerly picked their things up and began to follow. A chiming sound echoed around the Gateway as each person marched through the portal, causing lights and shadows to flicker and distort almost as much as Victoria Atom's body as she swung over the procession of people and supplies to Wayward and Velocity, extending her legs and collapsing into them to "land" noiselessly beside the pair. "Hey, uh..Mz. Caine?" Victoria said with a slight frown "If you think there's a problem, could you not hit me or my family over it? Tess would've stopped it at once if she knew you or Velocity or anyone was worried. And the Nuclo-Something isn't new, we-" Tesla's voice cut in "We have gotten entirely too insular, Victoria." The woman was smearing something over her lips, which shrank the bruises, clotted the blood and sealed the cuts with remarkable speed. She handed three tubes of bluish goo to her sister "For when you poke something that makes your head swell up. Again. Go check on ALEX." "Wayward, I am sorry," she went on, looking earnestly at Valerie "I had forgotten I wasn't just around family. The Infinite Fractal Gateway was my grandfather's work, and we've used it since we were children. What I was worried about was consistency. Opening into another dimension in the same general area is hard enough, making something that can withstand as many trips as I can imagine we'd make if we were gone a year instead of a month, onto a moving point with room for failure in only a few meters, is much more so. I admit, it was selfish and thoughtless to make her do so many. But Velocity was never in any danger I know of, at worst she'd have made only one round trip, and just gone to the other side of this room when she made the second attempt." "I'm sorry to you too, and I'm very grateful you'd do that for me." Tesla added to Megan, though a flicker of curiosity sparked in her eyes "Did anything happen? Did you sense anything out of the ordinary?"
  7. I am literally in the throes of ecstasy because of that, Blue Rose.
  8. GM From behind, Tristan heard a familiar jovial voice. "Watch yourself, Dr. Delacroix, when she stablizes ther can be a bit of a backwash" a large, strong hand guided the biologist to a safer angle "but it's a pretty good show, I got to admit." Smiling proudly at the resolving shapes in the portal, Maximus Atom, wearing the usual blue outfit that hugged his brawny frame, nodded to his sister "My end's ready, Tess! Good to go when you are!" "A little ahead of schedule, Max" Tesla commented with a frown that even Velocity's quick eyes barely caught "but I'm ready. On three. One..." Tilting a lever slowly forward, Tesla Atom watched the formulae scrolling by on a nearby screen "...two..." Something was changing in the air, its very texture suddenly noticeable subtly different. A faint howling sang at the edge of hearing, and the lights dimmed until they were struggling as if through a fog. "Three!" Tristan was more than close enough to see it happen, the moment when Earth-Prime was connected with the Infraverse. An invisible shockwave burst through the Gate, the faint howling rising to a roar that left the ears ringing even as the pressure differential sent a sheet of air right through the doctor's clothes. The previously faint and warped shapes of silver were now crystal clear as the twisting and muscle-like walls of a shining transport chamber in another dimension. Recovering from the burst with aplomb and a clap on Delacroix's back, Max hoisted some of the luggage on his back "Alright! Great work, Tess, now let's get loading and ready to go! Everyone carry luggage and one piece of spare equipment, please! I'll show you where it goes!" "Maximus!" In her brilliant golden aura, Tesla darted from her console, barring the way between her brother and the Gate with a force field "Did you really forget a plan we'd been talking about two minutes ago? Nobody's going through that portal until we know it works on living people!" Looking sheepish, the eldest Atom nodded and stepped back as he said "Oh, yeah. Sorry people! Sorry Tesla, got carried away." "No harm done." Shrugging off the false-start, Tesla Atom opened a circle in her wall to the Gate, gesturing to Velocity "When you're ready, go on in." It looked like nothing more than going to another room. Rarely were looks ever more deceiving than in the Gateway.
  9. Keeping it. Edited sample configurations. How's it look?
  10. Hyperslice Power Level: 12 (180/180PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: -2 Attack / +2 Damage, +5 Defense / -5 Toughness In Brief: A serpentine star-soaring aristocrat. Catchphrase: Theme: Alternate Identity: Skirris Sandwinder of the Silver Shadow Birthplace: Haasaa Prime, The Nest Residence: Coalition Victory Station Base of Operations: Coalition Victory Station Occupation: Aristocrat, Praetorian, Affiliations: Praetorians, Lor Republic, Queenmother Neshath Family: Nasselth Sandwinder (mother), Ashmet Scourtail (father), several dozen sisters and brothers, Description: Age: 18 Apparent Age: N/A Gender: Female Ethnicity: Northern Dune Height: 7' Weight: 250lbs Eyes: Green Hair: None Resembling the naga from Hindu legend, Skirris is a brawny brown and black reptile with a humanoid upper body and snake's lower body. While her head is blunter and more ape-like than a snake or Lemurian's, she is covered in golden-brown scales patterned with red, lacks ears and hair, and has a mouth full of curving fangs and a forked tongue. Like most adolescents of her species she hasn't fully developed the complex network of facial scales that give the haasaan their identification. On duty she wears a silvery costume from head to tip that doubles as a space-suit and armor, off duty she wears all the frills, bands, bangles and bizarre mixes of galactic fashion she can get her hands on. History: Two thousand years ago, in service of the now-vanished Delaztri Empire, there was an army of specially-gifted citizens called the Praetorians. Among their number was the Silver Shadow, a serpentine ghost who could pass through light-years as easily as millimetres and fell a hundred enemies on a hundred worlds before the first could fall. She was a conduit for that mysterious region known as hyperspace, able to bridge material gulfs through a benign mutation. She is thought to have died in the war against the Communion and was lost to history on all worlds but her home, Haasaa Prime, home of the haasaan, a golden-green jewel of deserts and luscious jungles. On that same world, only a short time ago, was born Skirris Sandwinder, who quickly showed signs of having the same talent for manipulating hyperspace. Unfortunately, growing up in the royal estates, surrounded by the wealth and privilege of her rank and with the power to escape any situation she didn't want to be in, the kind of nobility and courage that marked her predecessor evaded her. Quickly boring of her home, by the age of seven she began wandering off to find trouble. By the age of ten she had graduated to petty theft and the Queenmother of the haasaan knew that only worse was to come. She ordered the secret construction of a device to restrict Skirris's powers, and call her back to the Nest if she strayed. To the young girl, who all her life had been placated and coaxed with the awesome destiny that was her birthright, it was a sign that all along everyone had been lying and just wanted to control her. No longer able to simply leave her classes, the young aristocrat sullenly got back into studies and attending court lessons like all her noble siblings. It was in her thirteenth year that she figured out how to channel hyperspacial energy to empower her strikes, forcing a hasty refit of the Dam. By seventeen however, Skirris had seemed to calm and mellow, showing real interest in the wider world, especially the exotic cultures of other species. The Dam was relaxed, on the condition that she not do anything that had necessitated its existence. The rule proved depressingly easy to break, as every other month the teenaged noblewoman would systematically empty every bar on Haasaa Prime of its liquor and any local alpha female who figured they stood a chance in a fight with her. There was never death or permanent injury, but the constant reports of their misbehaving super-being and the seeming impossibility of correcting Skirris's behaviour outside of force made up for that. The outbreak of the Incursion War, and the desperate struggle for survival in the early days of the Communion attack, proved to be the solution. Despite her lack of experience Skirris was packed off to help haasaan colonies evacuate and get valuables and artifacts out of the growing warspace. Torn from the stifling confines of one planet, one people, and flung into a myriad others, the novice Silver Shadow saw for the first time how small and petty her lifelong-tantrum had been, the wonders and adventure that lay beyond her familiar star. Rushing through the shifting silence of hyperspace, saving innocent lives and priceless treasures from destruction, Skirris found her true calling. However, the war ended, she was recalled to Haasaa Prime, and though the Queenmother formally deactivated the Dam in light of her efforts and unexpected valour, she was forbidden from wandering outside the system until a Republic scientific study could be done on her unusual genetics and she had selected suitable mates. Realizing the years that now stood between her and any chance of getting to live like she dreamed, Skirris sank back into her old ways of boozing and barfights, enlivened wih the occasional scandalous dalliance with some obviously unsuitable male. At last, her parents and the Queenmother had had enough. With the opening of the ranks of the reestablished Praetorians, Skirris was promptly offered as a potential member, nobody more surprised than her when she was accepted. Presented with a specially-crafted Silver Shadow suit she was quickly packed off to Covic Station, cut off from her family, her parents' wealth and prestige, everything she had known since childhood, out into the wild black yonder of infinite terrors and evils. Her life had begun at last. Personality & Motivation: Skirris is an unsophisticated party girl, a thuggish and loud-mouthed extract of a rigidly hierarchal and class-based society. While her name has no weight outside the Haas system, she's never short of confidence or expectation of obedience, especially from men, who she still has trouble taking seriously as leaders or fighters. Her naive ignorance about the world is compounded by an overweening self-regard for herself and her abilities, to the point where she all but reflexively challenges the decisions of anyone she sees as a rival. Lacking in social skills besides a well-honed ability to lie with a straight face, Skirris is largely concerned with getting what she wants when she wants it. Having lacked true peers for most of her life, she has trouble emphathizing with others' problems, though she does have a fierce sense of loyalty to anyone who treats her even a little like she sees as her due. Preferring bars to battlefields and roaming to reconnaissance, as Hyperslice she nontheless puts herself aside, plunging into battles and contests of power she has no chance of winning, both to avoid the nagging doubt of "Could I?" and to make herself into what she knows she was born to be: the greatest hero in all space. Powers & Tactics: Able to dart in and out of battlefields on multiple planets, when fighting alone Skirris prefers to rush in, get her punches into the enemy, and rush out before they can retaliate. When with allies, she constantly looks for ways to tilt the odds in their favour, though her inexperience limits what she can really do even with all her power. Power Descriptions: Hyperslice channels the forces underlying hyperspace, the intersitial dimension commonly used for travel by space-faring species. With it she can hurl herself across the cosmos by opening gaps or lanes to her destination, redirect energy and impacts directed at her into hyperspace, or just turn herself into a cosmically-fast brawler. Whenever she uses her powers, her body is suffused with a shifting silver aura, and in flight she leaves a trail of exotic particles that in some atmospheres create dazzling auroras. Complications: Amazing Traffic Hazard: Sending dangerous things into the most-used transit dimension in the known omniverse is hardly an infallible or safe strategy. Bar Boa: Local watering holes are good places for information and fun, but also good places to get into needless trouble or attract unwanted attention. Skirris doesn't care about that last, yet. Blowing through life: If it even kind of sounds like a good time, Skirris is there. Challenger: Hyperslice must prove equal or superior in all challenges or contests, no matter how improbable. Got Dam: The device created to nullify her powers and transport her back to Haasaa Prime is currently deactivated and partially disassembled. With the right know-how, that can easily change. Easy Mark: Skirris is horrifyingly easy to mislead. Got Something Ancient On My Scales: In the course of ferrying prehistoric artifacts and heirlooms, Skirris could have exposed herself to any number of things, from Preserver nanites to Hierarchy biomoulds, Delaztri energy reformers or the mystic crystal Siphons of Sirrion. Motivation: Living up to her and others' expectations of herself. Responsibility: Helping other Praetorians. Rivals with her boss: Hyperslice has an irrational and utterly pointless combatative relationship with Paradigm, leader of the Praetorians. Rivals with ANY boss: That extends to almost anyone in authority, no matter how earned it is or how good the authority figure. The Replacement: There's more going on with the first Silver Shadow's disappearance than anyone knows. Sucker for a good tail: Surrounded by exotic, fascinating aliens, Skirris is willing to overlook a LOT in someone if she thinks he's pretty. 11. GM Tesla Atom looked up from her console stationed a respectful distance from the Gateway and smiled at Velocity. Her normally loose shoulder-length brown hair was tied back into a bun, her red and grey morphic molecule uniform obviously bolstered and laden with small bits and pieces of technology that looked both complicated and useful, the second-oldest Atom was the total opposite of her casual sister and stark and spare younger brother. "Hi! Thanks for coming up, sorry to bother you with something like this before we've even begun, Velocity, but when the Gate stabilizes its quantum tunnel could you run back and forth from here to the Beagle's Endeavour?" Raising a hand in reassurance(and forming a nucleonic replica to continue the fine tappings, turnings and slides the control panel needed), Tesla went on "Nothing should happen, but I want to be totally sure it will work not just once, but as many times as needed. We've usually gone to the Infraverse when Max shrunk too far trying to escape something, or when we get caught in a dimensional rift, which is more than I like to say. A hundred or so time should do it, and the Beagle's Endeavour has wonderful, grippy yet giving floors. If it opens in the right place, nothing should smack you in the face when you get to the other side either!"
  12. GM February 12th, Friday, 2016 Summit Transnational building, meeting room 5, floor 10, Wading Way, Freedom City As far as company reps went, the people sent by ailing power and research firm Redshift Energy of Washington weren't much to inspire confidence. Mostly either noticeably young new blood still uncomfortable in their stiff shirts, or old company men who had the tired, rumpled look of somebody going through the motions until retirement, they filled the meeting room with a nervous atmosphere. Meanwhile, quite at his ease, a African-American man in his late twenties had already taken his seat and was quickly reading over a briefcase full of papers crammed with atomic formulae. One of his associates had to quickly nudge him in the shoulder to alert him the entrance of their host at Summit Transnational, Amir ibn Jafar ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Misri. With a hurried, apologetic and distracted smile, the man stood up and joined the other reps. An older man stepped up, offering his pale, soft hand to the imposing philanthropist. "Er, Michael Monday, Mr. Misri, of Redshift Energy. Glad you could meet us, it's a wonderful opportunity for both of our companies." All the Redshift people tried to look like they agreed, the young man with the briefcase looking entirely, naturally confident in contrast. Outside, the city was frosted with snow and clinging ice, but in the conference room the pale sunlight mingled with the warm florescents to cast a strangely tranquil TV-like colour over the walls and long table. Very thoughtfully, someone had put coffee and pastries around, so everyone could be even more jittery than they already were.
  13. GM Chase paused, something golden flickering in the depths of his eyes "Tess discovered similar results. That is good, as you can imagine it can be hard to corroborate findings like those. She wants to talk to you in the bio-lab once we leave." He smiled slightly, turning back to Terrifica as he scritched along the back of the blue monkey clinging to his shoulders, the animal curving impossibly and chattering appreciatively "Cosmo is coming along, so you will have plenty of time to show me how to manage the little guy. The labs aboard the Beagle's Endeavour have plenty of room, but we need to take it in shifts. I know you and Dr. Delacroix are very dedicated people, but burnout is not what this mission is about." Chase turned and reached down for a large piece of luggage, part of a carefully-arranged(and tagged) assembly of the stuff being taken aboard the ship "Max is telling me the Gate should be opening in just a few minutes, so-GAH!" under his fingers, the carrying loop transformed into other, slimmer fingers, and in moments Victoria Atom was uncurling and shifting back into her usual shape, grinning evilly at her younger brother. "Boo!" she announced, one arm reaching back to fiddle with her hair, which was tied back into a series of colourful braids. Cosmo clapped gleefully, used by now to the bizarre things that he saw in the Atom Family. "What'd you do with the bag that was there?!" Chase demanded, looking almost panicky "Dr. Brandtford had that, and-" Victoria's forefinger pressed against his lips "It's fine, little brother, I just put it in the back while you people were talking! Speaking of talking," Victoria pivoted, beaming at the arrivals "I'm Vicky Atom, call me V! Glad you could come with, Wayward, I'm a big fan!" Chase raised an eyebrow, shoving the finger aside to ask "Since when?" Thumb and forefinger pinched his lips together "Since always!" Victoria breezily shook the hands of the other superheroes, her left arm stretching like a rubber band as she moved away from Chase. She paused before the Freedom League member "Oh by the way, T wants to talk with you, Velocity, it's about making sure of the portal. Should be fine, but, just to be safe, you know." Her shoulders shrugging independent of any concept of skeleton or musculature, the green-clad Atom turned back to Wayward, nodding to the crew that had come along with her "You have any concerns or questions about your people helping us catalogue the Infraverse? We won't exactly be filming Earth or anything, but it'll require them being pretty close to unknown life-forms a lot of times." Meanwhile, the Gate had begun to cycle down, the circular tunnel into another dimension beginning to clarify, the air shimmering in front of it as the picture in its spinning depths resolved into a vague, silvery something.
  14. Oh, whoops! Removed two ranks from the Communication to even out the cost of the Array, fixed the listed Comprehend rank and cost. Misread the bit about Comprehend in Ultimate Power. For Telepathy, made it so the Burst was only for Mind Reading, which I am pretty sure does not need a Flaw or Drawback. Variable is x5PP per rank, so that's 20 ranks of skills, which to my mind is pretty good so I'm keeping it for now. If it turns out not that way or I use it wrongly I'll swap it out for those Feats you mentioned and a small boost to Skills. Added sample configurations.
  15. Well then. Tristan knows that constant (that is, actual 24/7 with no breaks)exposure to the lifeglow theoretically creates a dependence on it by the auto-immune and regenerative systems from the boost it gives them. Infraversal life is almost totally incompatible with diseases and viruses from the wider omniverse, nearly impervious to them in fact, and humans are likewise at little risk from Infraversal infections.
  16. GM Suddenly, Terrifica felt a weight on her shoulder, and a long blue tail lashed in front of her eyes, replaced abruptly by the enormous eyes and curious face of the Moon Monkey, who stared at this stranger before losing interest and scurrying around to investigate their strange pelt. Within half a second, her new gadget, supposedly safely secured to her suit's modular hardpoint, was being turned over in Cosmo's sensitive paws. With a high-pitched shriek of joy he vanished with a 'fzap', appearing in a puff of blue on Chase Atom's shoulder as the young man talked rapidly and cheerfully with a bespectacled A.S.T.R.O. engineer, showing his master his prize with incredible pride. Chase's smile vanished, and glaring at the monkey he snatched it from the wilting primate's grip, excused himself and walked quickly over to Terrifica. "Please accept my, and Cosmo's apologies, ma'am," Chase frowned under his long dark bangs at the monkey perched miserably on his shoulder as he offered the small device back to its owner "normally he is well-behaved, but this much company is obviously not showing him at his best. I promise you, this will not happen again. Say sorry, Cosmo." Looping his tail around Chase's neck, the Moon Monkey tentatively crept down the man's narrow chest and offered its paw, a look of almost human contrition on his face. Noticing the others, Chase nodded politely, smiling in relief "Ah, you are all here, excellent. Daphne Celeste, Dr. Delacroix, Mz. Cain, Velocity, I am glad you could join us. I hope the media blitz out there didn't cause any nasty incidents, I could not keep an eye on the crowd this time. Feel free to mingle, the Gateway should be open very soon. Doctor," he abruptly focused his dark eyes, laser-like, on the biologist "did Freedom Cross get our samples of Infraversal cells and decayed 'glow parti-waves? Any preliminary theories? Tess just asked, she needs to know in case you think we need to make any adjustments to our equipment. She has done tests herself, but a few extra eyes always help."
  17. If the Apollo Eleven can bring a camera crew into space, sure you can have a camera crew in the Infraverse!
  18. GM Chorus didn't reply as she swept the pair of them into the black vortex. They'd already argued plenty about that, and she'd never budged from her stance that humans never, ever, learned from kindness. Noiselessly, the descended and fallen angels appeared in the house, on the downright antique(though very modern to Ray's eyes) stairway landing. In the unlit house it took a moment for Ray to see where the faint sound of crying was coming from, but a spectral ray of moonlight lay across the floor in the kitchen, illuminating vaguely the people Chorus was using this time. Looking down at her handiwork, the demon murmured sadly, with the tone of an experienced entomologist watching the sufferings of ant "Poor thing, and barely a stain on its soul, too." Shaking her head, she stepped back, motioning to Ray as she faded into invisibility "Best if they don't see me. Humans never are comfortable around my kind. Good luck, brother, may they see the Light in you." The smile was supposed to be encouraging and familial, but Chorus had never mastered the fine art of not showing too much teeth. Having seen death countless times over the course of his long life, it was obvious to Ray, just from a glance, that he only had a short time before the tortured and manipulated man died on the floor. It was also probable that the very badly confused and shaken woman might decide to follow him. Even for Chorus this was blunt and obvious scripting.
  19. Thread is here. OOC is here. Naturally, feel free to discuss and ask questions when you think right. Don't worry about upsetting the incredibly complex narrative of some people going to a strange place and experiencing strange things.
  20. Out of character thread for this, where some people go to another world to learn more about it
  21. Fourth of March, 2016, The Gateway, Goodman Building, Freedom City On its dais in the middle of the stark, open room, the circular Gate pulsed and rippled from the distortion of energy from an open channel to another world. For once, the Gateway was crowded, both with people and luggage, crates and moving equipment, Tesla and Maximus at their control stations the only people with much room to maneuver. Chase and Victoria were mingling with the swell of twenty-odd chatting, nervous scientists wearing A.S.T.R.O. Labs insignia on their jackets and hats, while Cosmo was darting about the room in excitement. The Moon Monkey had to get his hands on anything and everything new or strange, which with a crowd of strangers really was anything. His gleeful shrieking and intrusively curious hands sometimes got him a stern psychic warning, and by now he was much less hyperactive than a quarter of an hour ago. After the media circus outside, it was a pleasant and calming change of pace. The news that the famously secretive Atom Family and endlessly innovative Lab were making a joint ventire into a mysterious new universe had hardly been enough for the news agents and shouting reporters, but the fact that three superheroes were joining them, along with Freedom Cross biologist Tristan Delacroix and journalist Daphne Celeste, had packed the street outside the Goodman Building as fans and well-wishers screamed over each other to their idols. More cynical heads had shouted accusingly that the list of supers was blatantly calculated for news-worthiness rather than "true" value to the expedition. Where, for example, was Daedalus? Dragonfly? Miss Americana or any of the other technically-able or routine dimensional travelers? That had been the point. "People are easily frightened by the unknown, by choosing you" Chase had gestured simply to Terrifica, Velocity and Valerie Cain "we disassociate this expedition with the ideas people have that everywhere we go, there are our enemies." The Gateway glared with red light. It would soon be ready for passage into the Infraverse. For the moment, there was little to do.
  22. Yes,the primary transport is a Core Rules space cruiser found and salvaged by the Atoms and A.S.T.R.O., with a Pegasus spaceplane supplied by the Freedom League for more delicate maneuverings and such. It'll have pretty much anything the PCs need for anything they want to do.
  23. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/01/160120114539.htm Planet number nine! Mysteeeriousness abounds!
  24. I don't know, but they are mentioned on Star Trek sometimes, so they must be important?
  25. Stretching it to five pushing it for my abilitis, Blue, as you probably know, but Wayward's so wholly different from the rest I'll gladly agree to it. Alright, I'll figure out the broader details of the plot and start it this Saturday, you folks please discuss amongst yourselves what you want to have your PCs do, make plans for any arcs or changes, and so on. If you want info so you canmake more informed choices, by all means ask.
