    Sorry to hear that life's been such hard times, Absurdist. Glad to have you back.
  2. Raveled, what occured? Are we just skipping over the rolls, were they ineffective, or what?
  3. Look at it this way, RobRX. It can already take a PL11 attack to the face and have good odds of just shrugging it off without a care. And for the set up to the huge space firefights the team will easily be able to get the EP needed to make it a viable combat thing, even if they don't just buy a battleship. And for the time being the Preatorians are still getting a handle on the wider galaxy. They're vulnerable in a way they haven't been for a long time. The ship not having weapons has as much has a dramatic and thematic use as an Equipment Points saving utility. And it's not like the GMs will punish the team for not being super-efficient and combat-optimized right away.
  4. As somebody not on the team, I hesitate to say, but combined the Praetorians are weapon enough. Imagine if the Enterprise had the Justice League on board. Or the Legion of Super-Heroes.
  5. The Osprey, a very, very small thing, but the PL/PP section always needs two counts on the PP: one for how much is being used, the other for how much is available. That makes editing simpler. For the Description, does Endeavour tend to look happy, look reserved despite her oddball clothing, have any distinct accent, mannerism or body language? What does the E-suit look like? For Power Descriptions, it can be a good idea to add what the powers look like as what they are. It can make for ways to give her abilities a distinctive written 'feel'. For all that I have never accomplished that myself. History...I am iffy on. Mainly for the reasons that relatively little is said about Sakurako herself and mostly about her family. That can be fine, but why does she have her powers? What was it like growing up with technicolor hair and eye colors, growing up with powers and a natural intellectual talent? Hey, what did life growing up all over the world do for her development as a person? Those could be very interesting questions to answer. For that matter, were her parents' duty as superheroes in any way connected to their company? And how did growing up surrounded by ease and safety affect her? Personality and Powers & Tactics could also use a little expansion. Aside from the possibilities expanding the History could give her attitude and nature, it could inform how she feels about other superheroes, about super-science, about local vs. global heroes and heroic groups. And that expanded nature could inform her tactics as well. Does her scientifically-inclined brain make her likely to investigate threats before acting, is she likely to try and use her enemies' weapons against them, steal their tech, that sort of thing? How does her being a scientist and inventor change how she thinks, behaves and takes action? Complications are tricky. No question. So I offer this treatise on the subject by the horrifyingly prolific Supercape, whose characters have extensively used that part of the system. Hopefully you might something useful. The ones you have aren't bad, but they lack the punch of things that should complicate a usually straightforward situation.

The life shimmering along its ephemeral bulk tensed, and something like spines slid out for the barest of moments. It swiftly recovered its compsure, however, and in moments the town spirit was calmly speaking "Under no circumstances must the lifeshell be allowed to totally leave the lake. The man inside has sacrificed themselves for my sake, and I must honor the pact he has made with nature if his sacrifice is to not be in vain. Do not attempt to change the letters marking the lifeshell, or break the lifeshell, or-" pausing, its immobile head tilted to the side, the microbes crowding its nose sliding until they looked like a droplet. Then the head righted, the odd gesture evidently complete "-in short, do not attempt to do anything with the coffin. You can sure look at it, touch it, and figure out what it's made of and does, but that is the full extent of what I permit. Myself shall watch, and see this is obeyed." Over at the lake, another, smaller lifesnake coiled up around the new pine tree, observing the two women critically. "Do you wish passage?" Springsvale asked politely, a tendril placed against the runes surrounding the dead Yigith, channeling power into them like a river flooding tributaries "Any place in my boundaries can be a mere step, if you allow me. And it is getting very late." it added, looking at the Sun already fading over the horizon. A rich bluish/silver sheen covered the arid land, a strong contrast from the red and gold of the day. The small camp had already set up its fires, and returning from an impromptu lecture on safety for the same came Ranger Aqui, who nodded wearily to Nick "I'm headin' back to town. You got all you need, Mr. Cimitiere?"
  7. Gamma Draconis & Delta Serpentis Approximately 120 light-years "up" from Solar, in a dense cluster of gases known to the as the Red Forest, is the region known as the Dragon's Hearth. In ages past it was called the Delta Serpentis nebula for the snake-like head gaping near the center, with the inner golden heart the Gamma Draconis. A pseudostar pulses at the center of the pink and blood-red clouds, at the confluence of a ripple in space-time. It sheds light on rocky worlds, some afire with volcanic activity, others cold and dead before their time, all marked with divots and massive canyons encircling their hemispheres. The sheer number of planets is remarkable, but even more so are the shattered remains of others. Old and broken worlds drift into the fiery heart of the Hearth, while young molten worlds spiral away into the nebula. Few of the planets or moons are of any appreciable size, but the rate of creation and destruction far outpaces anything seen elsewhere. As if by purposeful will, a tug of war goes on, fought between the arid Forest and blazing Hearth. For the last four million years, this has been the home and refuge of the great gamma dragons. Gamma Dragons The Milky Way is home to all manner of space-going life, from microscopic bacteria conclaves riding in subspace channels to the great Nannesh'Obaann, the amalgamoid of five thousand planets and their biospheres. Even so, the gamma dragons are something else entirely. Reaching up to five miles from snout to tail tip at the smallest, and stretching to several hundred thousand at the largest recorded sighting, these roughly serpentine monsters propel themselves through space and atmospheres by manipulating the very laws of gravity. They are not beautiful, but they are striking, and strongly resemble Aztec depictions of Quetzcoatl in his guise of the feathered serpent. Creatures of solar flame encased in shells of metal and rock, gamma dragons by necessity leave joints and gaps in their armor, from which thin plumes of energy and radiation emit. They are roughly equal in power to a mainline battleship in their adult years, with their eldest both more powerful and with a cunning to match. Luckily they rarely leave the Dragon's Hearth and its young worlds, although the few who do are much more aggressive than those that remain in the nebula. They grow their shells by consuming metals and other hard minerals, which reacts with their high-energy bodies to create dazzling and ornate patterns along their vast lengths. Their life-cycle has been hinted at, with young dragons emerging from molten worlds in orbit of the pseudostar, though how they come to be in the first place is unknown. There have been long-range sightings of adults carrying planetoids back to the Red Forest, which at least suggests the end to the cycle. The few brushes they've had with smaller life is violent, although a sparse fraction have mellowed to the other inhabitants of their systems and act as local guardians. For many of the 'barbarian' worlds, the gamma dragon is a totemic symbol of strength and indomitability, and some mages have managed to tap into their symbolic power. What little contact has been made with those who don't end up in the Stellar Khanate(which has been remarkably few) suggest they are fully sapient, but few have the least idea about why they exist or where they come from. Those few are the Movers and the Keepers. Movers & Keepers The rocky worlds aren't the only place in the Red Forest that life can be found. In the depths of the nebula, two opposing civilizations have sprung up, composed of an eclectic bunch of loosely-related species from neighboring stars. One, a nomadic enclave whose fleets of ships mine the surrounding gases for fuel and compounds, have named themselves the Movers, and seek to defeat their counterparts, the mostly passive Keepers, whose network of space stations and few yet formidable vessels has managed to deter the Movers from the heart of Dragon's Hearth. Both clans defer to a religious text found hundreds of thousands of years ago, a monolith of blue rock detailing the true history and origin of the gamma dragons, the pseudostar and even the Red Forest itself. The full extent of the truth is a mystery to any not in their faths' inner circles, but both are resolute in their opinion of what should be done about the strange, massive object coiled at the heart of the pseudostar, in the eye of the twist in space and time. This ridged oval thing, black in hue and rocky in texture, is the true Gamma Draconis. All the smaller beings that share its original shape are mere fragments of the beast. For reasons best known to themselves, it is both imperative that the black dragon be removed from the nebula, and that it stay where it is. Neither side has any interest in explaining themselves, and getting the truth with psionics or magic is phenomenally difficult. Both sides have advanced technology slightly above the mean of the rest of the galaxy, and besides their single-minded fanaticism are quite welcoming to outsiders. They only require two things of visitors: first, that they do not try to wake the dragon, and second, that they don't hinder attempts by the Movers to do so. Neither side will object to anybody trying to approach or investigate their object of fear and reverence. The Keepers have a special rapport with the gamma, although neither they nor the Movers are ever attacked by them. For the most part, the local megafauna ignore intruders. After millions of years, what could threaten their home?
  8. It's an opportunity! Opens up all kinds of stories that the suit being self-contained does not. Though it certainly would be a security risk that a self-respecting genius might find not worth it.
  9. CYBR5KL!!! By the way souffle_girl, are you familiar with the Legion hacking group from the setting book? Now that you have somebody with a battlesuit, I think it'd be kind of neat to flip around how many of them can access the internet. Have some wacko with the Legion try and get control of the robot suit through its wireless connection.
  10. For the second, it really depends on what the world they're from is like. And Freedom Legion is in the future. As for conquering the Earth, really there's no 'best' way. Even the most fool-proof all hinge on contrivances or other people forgetting they aren't stupid. But there is a steady, dependable theme: the conqueror seizes control of something everybody has come to rely on, like the Reapers and their Mass Relays. Perhaps the fellow came up with some kind of energy source, life-changing chemical or ingenious device that came to be omnipresent, allowing them, when the time came, to cripple their rivals and give themselves a crucial edge. Personally I vote for the second. Not because we already have Kid Set, but because it plays with a really great theme for a kid hero: fighting against expectations. We could use more of that and less of whatever it is that's turning the teen heroes into miniature versions of the adults.

  12. Bluff and Diplomacy rolls: 26. 25. The Bluff is to try and get him to meet Mind-Set's eyes, the Diplomacy is to try and keep him focused on Mind-Set(basically a pseudo-Fascinate effect).
  13. ~I-! Yeah, good idea Thoughtspeed, I'll try and...and get him talking. Hurry.~ With that unnecessary exhortation, Nathan went into action, heart pounding with horror. This wasn't supposed to happen! Mind-Set had stepped forward at once when the cranially-enlargened extraterrestrial had said "This takes me back", alarm bells belatedly ringing in the telepath's mind as he realized with a lurch what Thoughtspeed and Stronghold had seemed to find so odd about their strange visitor. Pushing Maelstrom behind him, Nathan's eyes flickered as he activated his own forcefield, reaching out with a placating hand to the alien. As his fingers drifted just a fraction too far, the shield crackled and flashed as it hit the opposing barrier. Standing firm, Mind-Set resorted once again to trying to talk things out. "Pal, I don't think you've thought this through at all. I mean, really? There's no other way this can go down? You just gotta stand there and use space-magic? Look, Stronghold can make a platform miles in the sky, the League can put you in space, you've got options! Look at me." Mind-Set's voice got a sharper edge and his real eyes filtered into view, looking imploringly at the alien "Is this really how you want it to go?" -Rachel,- Nathan's mental voice rang through the twins' indissoluble link -Can you and Stronghold get something around me and the alien? I might be able to keep him busy long enough to try something, but if it goes bad we need to protect the museum. Please, sis. I'll be fine.-

GM At Equinox's mental command, channeled through her wand into a force the world could not ignore, the crystal coffin levitated slowly from its muddy bed and began moving to the mouth of the waterfall. The elemental power lifting it shimmered in the water, which curled and pushed its cargo with gentle, unrelenting momentum until it came to rest at the feet of the two magicians. Almost from the moment it hit the sandy shore, the glyphs covering its glittering shell glowed and shifted subtly, sending a fresh wave of creative energy through the earth and air, causing a small pine tree to abruptly shoot up beside Equinox(carrying Hayley a few feet up in its branches) and a a flood of ants and beetles to wash over Pitch's steaming boots before vanishing into the ground and grass. Otherwise nothing happened, and the figure dimly to be seen within the coffin never stirred. it was about then that Dr. Drake's cellphone rang with Eric LaCroix's number.

    GM The purple alien shrugged "That is all I can ask for. Thank you." Starting to walk towards a flight of stairs nearby he checked himself and turned, regarding the three Spaniards still watching the scene and players with considerable fascination. "Without the Ring under my control, your minds should be entirely normal in...a few hours? Around that. The rest might take a few days to be fully whole again. They shouldn't recall anything damaging or painful. Though no thanks to my mastery." The trip back to Loholo was quiet and uneventful, the spirit's voice chiming with happy surprise at their return. In'Dego stooped by the pool and whispered into it as he dipped a hand into the water, bringing it to his lips and throwing his head back in a fluid motion. He was still for several minutes, eyes shining from within as they rolled up and stared at the starry sky. "The Star Khan," he said at last, his voice much less raspy than before, slower and contemplative with its odd accent much stronger "has many children. Four of them, with a great army at their back, will come to this planet in the wake of something far greater and more terrible. If I keep the Night Stone....they'll find it and take it. If I don't it has a chance to escape them, but I'll never see the Stone again." Standing up, Indigo relaxed the fingers that had never once stopped clutching his last treasure, and looked again at its oblong obsidian depths. With a sudden movement he pulled at the leather cord, straining it against his neck until it broke with a snap. Looking away, he tossed it to the three superheroes, the mere act making his teeth clench and eyes screw shut. "There, put it with the others. I can still fly without it, for a little while." His lean shoulders sagging, the Zultasian slumped cross-legged to the ground in final defeat. "One of them is already searching the thoughts of people on this world, looking for me. 'Cause of my foolishness I might have already gotten their attention. Everything's gone wrong, thanks to me trying to act clever." Rubbing his face with his wetted hand, In'Dego added glumly "Where you think I deserve going, kids, take me there. I'm done."
  17. Amended. And bear in mind, comrades, that no issue is too small to be justly raised for something like this. How you wish for your characters to be depicted is of the utmost importance to the Roster.

  20. And Corona's ship could easily hold a few passengers. Maybe she, Mechanized and Star Knight are roped in by the rest of the Knights to help fend off some 'invading' aliens from a world inadvertently in the path of refugees from the Communion. Or maybe the Blockade Fleet has found some artifact in the Solar system and want an Earthling's take on the matter for diplomatic/safety/legal reasons. Maybe she's visiting Corona's ship and the vessel gets hit by something that flings them into another system, and they have to sort out some crazy local problems on the planet they land on before getting home. Maybe Mechanized and some others end up caught in a bad guy's teleportation beam back to their Moonbase.
  21. In the museum, Mind-Set's large frame was dwarfed into normalcy by the high ceiling and sweeping exhibit, which he took an avid interest in as the heroes reached their final objective. Physics wasn't Nathan's strongest suit, but the telepathic twin could at least appreciate the dizzying complexity that the exhibit hinted at. In a way, the interaction of invisible, momentary flickers of particles that went on without anyone aive really understanding it, and only recently knowing it existed at all, reminded him of synapses. 'And someday we'll be able to grasp both. One by one, all the mysteries of the universe will be solved. Where there was ignorance will instead be wisdom.' Just the thought put a sparkle in his too-blue eyes as he inspected one of the plaques. The ease with which they'd been allowed entry had helped a lot to relax Mind-Set. Good cause or not, just taking the priceless stone was entirely out of the question to his mind. Smiling at their guest as he expressed his satisfaction, the psychic said "That's good news. Be a shame to come all this way just to be let down. Sorry there aren't any spaceships around here not owned by the Freedom League at Freedom Hall, there used to be a company for them but they turned out to be in league with evil or something. Big mess." The towering man shrugged, "Still, glad we could we help you this far. Anything else we can do for you, space-buddy?
  22. GM The water hissing and bubbling around her, Pitch faced relatively little opposition as she made her slow way into the little lake. The coffin remained where it was, the fish darted put of Carmen's path, and only the weeds bent around her ankles, trying feebly to halt her slow, remorseless swim. Up close, the coffin made the water around it tingle electrically. It was semi- transparent, with the dim form of a human-like figure inside. At an accidental brush of her hand, Carmen found it to be surprisingly warm, and far lighter than a chunk of crystal that size usually managed to be. It was just light enough to feel distinctly unreal, ephemeral. Like it was a mere image of the coffin's otherworldly reality. Regardless, it would be easy to move. The figure within lay as if mummified, arms crossed over their chest, a tangle of dark hair around their head.
  23. Those both make it easy. Arcane Lore: the deserts around Magic Mesa, even miles from the plateau, have a reputation for bad nights. With the symbolic departure of the Sun, powers from other worlds(or at least shades of them) can move into the human world. They can only invade when around people using magic to twist the dimensional gates, however, but that makes them much more likely to cooperate with summoners they find. Notice: there is a nexus of dimensional power around the town. It just became visible as the sun started to vanish below the horizon.
  24. Ah, right, the kid was a psychic too. Mind-Set mentally chided himself for the lapse of memory. It was like somebody forgetting he could turn invisible. That aside, Thoughtspeed raised a very good point about the crashed spaceship's weaponry. No sense in just leaving it lying around to go off and kill some harmless animal or unsuspecting hiker. Walking over to the Ochre Defender, the ephemeral psychic nodded politely to her "Hey, Stronghold, could you give me, Maelstrom and our space-buddy a lift to the museum? I saw you flying around earlier, and you're quite a bit faster than," putting an arm around his sister's shoulders and sighing dramatically, Nathan said "my frail flower of a sibling. And with your protective forcefield we'll be safe from bugs, too. She always steers me into bunches of flies, I swear. You gotta quit that, Maelstrom, it isn't funny!" Nathan turned his illusory head to Haukea and shook it in mock exasperation.
