    Lucky Shot

Okay! First order of business, initiative roll: 23. EDIT: Tactics roll grants a +2 bonus, so 25. Then, can I roll a Notice check to get an idea of what kind of guns they are, and by extension how rich the person(probably King Cole) is who called for this little shootout? EDIT: Supercape says it's a DC15 Tactics check to recognize them, and a 20 or more gives a +2 situation bonus: 33. Stealth roll to avoid being spotted or targeted: 21. And finally, once Kingy's turn comes, throwing a smoke card out the window to make things harder for the byes there. Then running to Carl to drag him to safety.
  2. Back in his dark, enshrouding costume, Osprey crouched on the lip of the modern obelisk, cape flapping and swirling in the high wind. Watching the city below behind his yellow-lenses, he suddenly wondered what London would look like in a few months, after the new Vanguard was established. Before he had relied mostly on just not being all that well-known, keeping his routine and 'territory' loose and vague so he would be harder to track. Now he was part of Britain's premier power squad. In not too long, most of the high-ranking criminals in the country would know him, and despite his not being nearly as powerful as the rest they'd be scrambling for information on him. London alone could hide thousands of informing eyes. 'So that'll be it. A whole metropolis for an enemy...' Suppressing a bone-deep shudder at the unreality of it all, Osprey turned to watch Catalyst and Blackpool disperse the pheromone. He kept a very close eye on the professor. "Go ahead, Jazz. No time like the present. Besides," he glanced back at the glittering skyline beneath them "if Tylluan does take the bait, 'least we can get a read on his abilities now." Tensing and preparing to transform, Alden began the inner preparations for the coming encounter.

    Dream of You(OOC)

He allows it, so that wins with no contested roll.
  4. GM To Nick's reopened eyes the world was suffused with a clear, soft light. The normally invisible forces that intertwined with the physical seethed at the corner of the necromancer's vision, from the symphonic grace of spiraling air elementals to the clockwork rigidity of the time-stream carrying everything inexorably onward. Dwarfing those half-seen wonders was the silver giant leaning over Half-Moon Hill. It didn't have any one clear shape, besides a vaguely serpentine arc, and was like a mural made up of every imaginable kind of life. Nigh-invisible cells clustered around the 'head', streaming back and enlarging into cats, bushes, gazelles, massive prehistoric beasts and things that looked like nothing Earth could ever hold. Like a ghostly tributary it sprang from the river running through the center of Springsvale. Somehow, it was looking down at him and Equinox.
  5. An absolutely gargantuan mass of life-magic energy is looming over the hillside, looking down at the mages. It resembles a brilliant silver chimera, made up of both real and potential living things. Possibility and the promise of creation pulse from it, all directed by some singular mind that gives it form and purpose. Like a smoke-plume, it billows out of the town river below. Nick also detects that some ghosts are in the mix somewhere.
  6. Maelstrom felt a familar surge of anxiety 'But!....Fine. Don't do anything stupid, I'll be right back with him.' Ducking under the havoc of flying laser blasts and scattered foliage the towering psychic dashed off, warped out of view but still faintly detectable. Pebbles knocked free, grass bent under invisible feet and branches swayed as he ran after the escaped cosmic collector's item. Already given to introspection, the question of 'why?' laced through everything that was going on, and as he jumped over a rabbit frozen in confused terror, Mind-Set struggled with that very problem. If this guy(if they were a guy) was important, valuable in some way...what could it be? And why had they found their way here, to Earth of all places? And why the heavy-duty pickup crew? And why...? What made it worse was how little he had to draw on for the answers to these very important questions. Thus distracted, it was with a jolt of surprise that Nathan saw the fleeing prisoner ahead. Drawing a deep breath and marshaling his thoughts, the young man bellowed "Wait! Hold on there, buddy! W-we need your help!"
  7. DC20 Reflex save: 25. DC20 Toughness save: 21. EDIT: DC15 Reflex save to avoid the Barnacles:14. Entangled.
  8. I have added entries for Acosm BabyBrawler Crescendo The Scarab Somnium Terrifica Thrude With the appropriate links to sheets. Please let me know at once if anything needs adding or removal. I have removed a part of Cho's entry related to her volatility, and Spelldancer's entry entire.
  9. Okay! Mind-Set goes racing invisibly off on his invisible Billie Jean King legs and try to catch up with the fleeing prisoner. Moving All-Out if necessary. Once catching up to him, he'll try and talk the guy into coming with them. 18. With the -5 tax for being a Move-Action(SURGEed), that's a 13. If that works, cool, if not I'll reroll.

    Dream of You(IC)

GM Stronghold "Well it's not like we produce or do much that you couldn't" the man pointed out blithely, sitting down against the raised edge of the platform with bizarre calm "not to mention the environmental, social and technological problems of supporting and defending such a vast, largely helpless population. If we could replace several thousand of me with a handful of you, for instance," he rapped the construct "then what's lost, really?" He saw the expression on Haukea's face under the mask, and changed tack. ""I agree young lady, suicide isn't a good solution. But I'm stumped to come up with a more conclusive one! Even at the rate of current tech advancement, we're still mostly liabilities, distractions from your work defending the universe from evil." That didn't do much good... "Look, i just keep having dreams about all the good you supers could be doing if you weren't saddled with us. I've been feeling very depressed lately to be part of that problem, and decided that this," he pointed at the street below "was the wisest course. And it isn't psychic suggestion, I've had that happen to me before. This is all me, miss...?" Blinking in sudden embarrassment he added "Francis Bae. CEO of Surland Insurance, never mind the slogan. Our good hasn't been our clients since Nineteen Eighty...three? Yes, around then..."

GM Miss Grue Looking incredulously at Daphne's face, Abby slow shook her head from side to side. "Nooo, not really. Most I was doing seemed to be getting my ass kicked. Dear god," getting unsteadily to her feet, Abby paused, gripping Miss Grue's shoulder vice-like "five years of martial-arts lessons, and I still get beat up. Thought knowing how you moved was supposed to make you better at fighting, not stay the same" Brushing the hair away from her eyes and squinting at the street beyond the alley. Sighing glumly, the woman stopped to pick up a discarded purse and sunglasses case, sliding on the pair inside. While she did so, she kept up a constant stream of one-sided conversation "It's just crazy sometimes, you know? Like the world's slipping out of control, and if you try to grab on it just kicks you and your solution away, and if you just let things go on it's still your fault. I got into the insurance business to try and do something about the loss and pain in the world, but then every day and night me and my firm get stared in the face with how impotent we are." Jamming a pen into its holder with more than necessary violence, Abby turned back to Miss Grue "You ever have dreams about...not being super, miss? Sorry! I don't mean-but, all of mine are about nothing except what I could do if I had powers. And...every day I see what happens because I don't..." As she spoke, she sounded less and less sure. By the last sentence her pausing, uncertain voice trailed off. Shrugging awkwardly, she got up and hurried off, calling back "Hey, if you have dream-powers, I wouldn't mind a check-up! Thanks, Star Girl!"

GM Riff Upon learning of the situation at the convenience store, the police had already started to converge on it. It was with notable relief that the arriving officers took the woman into custody, their squad leader telling Riff "We've been hearing about something just like this happening recently. Not in this town, 'course, but that didn't make it any less dangerous. A gun's a fearsome thing if the owner's not thinking straight. Thanks for taking care of this, buddy! I'd have hated to deal with a hostage situation this early in the morning" Tipping his hat back, the tanned, graying captain added "If you could drop by tonight so we can get your statement, that'd be great. Clear a whole lot of things up, 'specially if that thing about the 'Patriot formula' is true..." With that, a handshake and a smile, the cruiser and it's morose passenger headed off for the precinct.

    Underwyrmed(IC)

GM "Black Two!" shouted the red leader, starting at the sight of Cho crashing into the other Salamander. His earlier air of cool collection rattled, the armored arsonist flicked a few switches on the side of his gun, causing it to thrum menacingly. Aiming it at the ceiling, Red One fired a a wide cone of invisible heat, the roof above melting away like wax and allowing a fresh shower of debris to fall straight towards Cho Lee! Meanwhile, the yellow-suited support specialist was busy keeping low. A wave of his gloved hand sufficed to keep the wavering illusion going, following it up by a rapid dash across the lobby, dodging the lake of fire with quick hops as it snaked around him. Lunging into the safety of the vault doorway, the Salamander began fiddling with something tied to his belt.
  15. ...That is pretty wrong a way for it to go. Sorry everybody!
  16. Fortitude save to keep going: 28. Okay then. Using the Damage AP of the Red Wave Conch to try and destroy the Barnacles climbing around the engine equipment. attack roll: 25. If that hits, DC27 Toughness as before. Of course, that could easily go very, very wrong... If need be, Initiative roll: 19.
  17. Wave-Eye burst through the door with the others, its debris raining down on him and bouncing off like clattering hail. Sliding to a halt he pointed an accusing claw at Captain Blood "Pirate! Lordless one, what do you gain from all this? Your own vessel travels the seas as wraithlike as you yourself! Your immaterial crew is reborn as soon as it is bested! Whom do you serve by this, wretch of the deep?" As he spoke, the triton drew his conch, and as the last words echoed he blew a thunderous blast on the aquatic trumpet, sending lashing blades of water surging around the barnacles!
  18. GM "Nope. Been around half a dozen arrivals cropping up lately. Most of them don't end up like the snake, of course," the Mayor added, glancing reassuringly at Pitch "they just snoop around for a day or two and vanish near the river's mouth". His eyes met hers just long enough to catch the Hellish flames wafting behind them, and he withdrew his gaze quickly. "As for the letters, 'course I read 'em! They don't say much, though. No riddles or anything, just very specific and simple: "The lake water stirs, do not spill blood in it", or "Avert all eyes from the dog park". No clue about anything that we could tell, just that weird stuff's going on here for some reason, and somebody out there wants to help us out. Far as I care, that makes them a friend of ours." A cloud passed over the Mayor's lean face "But if it's gotten to where they're killing these things...I'd like it all stopped, if it can be. And if our 'friend' has to be stopped too...that's fine by me". The power in the letters was a little clearer to Pitch's magic sight. It thrummed with the energy of creation, with the unknowable potential of life itself. Something alive had sent these letters, something allied to that force. Though why they named themselves after the town was still hazy... Meanwhile, Nick's attempt to catch a glimpse of what had happened to the snake had hit an unexpected snag. Casting one's eyes back to the death of something wasn't a guaranteed success, but it almost never fractured into a myriad of endless spirals of possibility, showing a dizzying, impossible picture of what might have gone down a few hours ago. Everything imaginable in a single eyeblink; silver blades, fire from the earth, columns of grass, giant skulls gnashing teeth, a horde of opposing serpents writhing across the hill. The finality of death was somehow being obscured by a dense veil of living power.
  19. The magic is life magic, and using the name of the town has pretty major symbolic significance, but how or why she can't quite grasp. troll, Nick's prescience is thwarted by a surge of chaotic life-magic, something that can't have been either accidental or residual. He'd need to take a look to be sure, but something might be watching him and Equinox.
  20. GM The Ages Lost soared from its sky perch like a many-sailed cruise missile, swooping into position above the glittering bar like a skimming wren, and halting with a rush of engine power like a readying hawk. The cannon-mounts slid into place, training on the hapless Marsha's below. The stellar eagle waited to pounce. Meanwhile, inside A mug of golden-brown beer slammed into the counter in front of the dour-looking man. "'Ere you go, mate!" beamed the bartender, her smile a little shakier than normal "Have another, it's takin' a while for your friend to get here, and all." Giving the brawny woman a thankful glance, the narrow man slid the mug into his hand. Tipping his head back he drank deeply, throat working as the liquid poured down it. Slamming the half-empty mug onto the bar with a gasp for air, red-faced and thumping his chest for a moment, MacGruthers managed to get out "T-time?" "12.25" was the prompt reply, the smiling face a little more nervous than usual. MacGruther's had asked that before, each time more and more anxiously. She watched him digest the news, then shrug and nod shortly "Thanks, Marsha. I'll be gone in another quarter hour. Here..." fumbling in his pocket, he slapped a small but meaningful pile of hundreds on the counter "...for your trouble." A rumble shivered the air, but both were too absorbed in something else to notice, as were the other ten or so drinkers whiling the night away...

    Lucky Shot(IC)

Glancing at the man behind the bar, Marceau allowed himself a brief burst of anger "You don't enjoy this, Deadshot? Then don't let people make assassination deals in your bar." Gesturing to Carl as he stalked up to the ex-military man behind the counter, the King of Suits went on savagely "Thanks to you, a killer stalks the streets, and a crime boss trying to kill off this area's defenders got a hired gun!" Grabbing the startled Deadshot by his shirt, Marceau hoisted him off his feet and snarled into his ear "I'm curious, my friend, how much King Cole will like neutral ground after he takes over!" Drawing back he waited a moment to watch that new thought get into Deadshot's mind, ignoring how it was received as he shoved the man away and approached the nearby drunks "How about you, comrades? Do you think a criminal leader will care much about how little you have? He'll bleed you dry if you let him do as he pleases!" Spinning on his heel with enough force to make his cape sweep through the air behind him, the King of Suits drew a razor card and sent it whistling through the air into the wall behind the bartender, the card arcing just over the man's ear "Imagine that, every day, when you least expect it! That's what you have to look forward to from King Cole!" 'This is the best decision I have ever made' Marceau's mind concluded, between flickers of dizziness from the blood-loss.

Alright, time for the denouement. What do you want to do? Zefir is pretty strong, but he can't win against the three of them, and will pretty quickly change focus if confronted.

    Night Rings

GM The castle above them wasn't hard to get up to, even aside from the facts of the trio's natures. It still loomed over them as they entered, a reddish, dry husk of stone and broken iron where a living fortress had once been, ruling the valley with unquestioned vigilance. There wasn't even a worn stone or rusted shield to give any idea of who the castle had even belonged to, giving the place a strange, timeless anonymity. Tracking their quarry wasn't as hard as deciphering the tower's past: a deep purple light shone in a large window above the courtyard, and a thick, slow voice spoke long and clearly enough to follow. <"No, they found it."> Ion's voice flowed like molasses through the air, every word heavy and distinct. A long pause. <"We can't know. We asked to forget."> All of the Claremont alumni felt a flash of anger <"How were we supposed to know? Anyway, you can go look now."> Christina spoke up like a sleepwaker <"Yeah, and if you just told them-"> cold rejection <"-no, okay..."> Alfonso's voice followed with something like real expression <"You're not going to change our memories, are you?"> They were at last close enough to hear the 'host' of the Indigo Ring. His voice was hoarse and cracked. "I don't want to. But I have no choice if I want to keep hidden." The purple light flared, and all of the heroes could feel the mind-altering power beginning to coalesce.
