GM "That would not sting so much" the voice said glumly "if the rest did not say the same. They lived in fear of what might happen, doubt over what had, ignorance of what went on around them, and still all refused. I am sorry, I do not mean to seem unpleasant, or a schemer. I just want to take away people's burdens. It is why this place exists. But if so few truly want to know..." There was a worried silence. "What about something...smaller? Such as when a deadly disaster could strike your planet, the answer to an age-long mystery, or where some deadly enemy of yours lurks? I can easily accomplish that!"
  2. "No plan's perfect, or can really account for things you don't expect," Alden countered "And putting faith in our foresight seems a tad like pushing it since our last victory was because Young Britannia flew Tylluan into space and the Farrington woman chucked around brain-whammies. But still..." for a second he fell silent, staring at the rib-like wall nearby as he visibly thought things over. 'Oh good. Now she'll think I hate plans.' "I don't hate plans" 'Perfect. And come to think of it...' "So how about a compromise? We do both. You can use the formula without me needing to be the bait, I get another way to keep Tyllu's attention on me if he escapes." His mouth twitched "And now I really want to see this 'van' of yours, doctor. Must be a formidable vehicle." Glancing at Blackpool he added "So how about it, Tom? What are the odds you can make me give off this pheromone at will and a compound that gives off the same smell, maybe something that breaks down fast?"
  3. Let's say he knows more or less all its specs(Lor are basically the Federation, thus scanners second to none!), and that normally the Celestia is invisible on the visible light spectrum, radio waves, ultraviolet radiation and the X-Ray(finer parts of the electromagnetic spectrum). Most times it doesn't broadcast anything, though the infrared radiation emitted from the hull and engines would make a good start.

I Am Not A Ref, so Powers. The Null Glasses uses Extras in place of Feats. Use of the Selective Feat in the Paralyze would bring it up to 46PP. Nullify, as per House Rules, disallows the 3PP per Rank Nullify All Powers(irrespective of descriptor) and so increases the cost of the normally 2PP per rank version. That plus the 3 Extras and the Flaw makes it 5PP per Rank, 55PP in all with the Power Feats. Blast, Drain/Strike and Concealment check out to my eyes. Illusion is at 46PP due to the Insidious and Progression Feats. Feats. By my count, that comes to 19PP. Skills-Saves-Combat-Attributes. Checks out.

GM "It's one of those jokes that's gone on too long. Every time some Freedonian or tourist asks a STAR officer about a cat in a tree, they call us to deal with it. I think the ol' captain's trying to say something about my people." Bonham shrugged as Velocity vanished into a blur whipping through the busy streets of Freedom, racing to the scene of cat-tastrophe! Taking another sip, the AEGIS agent suddenly looked a little whistful. "At least two friends haven't changed..." Even in a city as used to the strange, the unknown and the incomprehensible, tree-bound felines still got a startling level of attention from normally even-keeled citizens. It could be they just represented that oft-elusive real-world other people sometimes seemed to live in, where problems were just a little less outlandish. Whatever the case, Velocity didn't need her super-science goggles to see the small cluster of people around a splendid ash tree in a mini-park. Most of them were trying to coax the brainless thing, a black-and-white calico shivering and mewing pitifully on an upper branch, down to their arms, while a few stood back and enjoyed the joke playing out before them. At the sudden blast of wind that followed her, the small crowd turned, started, and let loose a weak but heartfelt cheer, eagerly making way for America's Speedster to do her thing!
  7. Alden rubbed the side of his head. Jasmine made a lot of sense. On the face of it, what was the point of turning him into a bulls-eye when they could just have the stuff in an aerosol? 'It's easier, less likely to make me MORE of a freak if it goes wrong, and any of us could use it...wait...' Leaning forward, Osprey raised his soft voice "Dr. Benoit, there's a few reasons why Dr. Blackpool's offer's a good one. Like you said, we could just have the compound in a can, spray a bit on a wall and use it as bait." He held up a long finger, eyes narrowing behind the mask "But. Tylluan's not just some dumb animal. He'll learn after maybe the second time, or even the first, that the smell doesn't automatically lead him to me. Just that will make it less useful every time after. We need a sure thing for that looney. He might be cautious after the first trap, but he won't doubt I'm there." Gesturing to Blackpool he went on "The way me and him and Captain Rose have been...changed is very distinct. We don't base it entirely off me, we risk not realizing we've got a fatal mistake until too late." Smiling despite himself, Osprey added "At most you'll just need some of my sweat. Besides, 'controllable' means you too."

  9. "What? Now you are a helpless old man? But my friend, does that mean all those other times you said it...were fibs?" Marceau looked momentarily aghast before chuckling and lightly returning the backslap "Rene, you naughty fellow. I'll keep eyes on the back of my head to keep anyone from creeping up on us. Especially anyone matching the description of le patrisserie francais." Following close behind the ancient artist, he scanned the crowd ceaselessly for any sign of their quarry, a smile of unfeigned cheerfulness on his face as he passed deftly through the teaming press of Goths.

GM The AEGIS administrator smiled gratefully "That's what I was hoping for." Taking out a small booklet from his jeans pocket, Bonham flipped to a page near the end and tossed it to Velocity. On the page was an insignia of five hands joined in a ring, followed by the name 'Church of the Neverending'. A mass of tiny script in what looked like code took up the rest of the page. "They're based in New Jersey. And they're the worst kind of crazy." His jaw setting a little, the veteran agent remained casually perched as if he hadn't a care in the world. "They think their space-god will take them to paradise after the rest of the world is destroyed, because everyone not in the church is secretly controlled by demons. And that causing destruction and havoc among us will make said space-god get here all the faster." Taking a lingering sip, watching seagulls trace the sky, Bonham added quietly "We know they have something big and bad behind their leaders. No idea if it's a demon, a super, or just some crazy rumor. And, to make things even more fun, they might be getting their hands on a dirty bomb." Putting his cup on the table as his chair's front legs hit the ground, he finished grimly "We have to stop them, and we have some ideas of where to start, but unless we hit each lead as fast as or" he gave Megan a flash of his earlier cheerful grin "faster than humanly possible, we risk just tipping them off and driving them underground. Since you're so agreeable, I'll tell you where we've pinned down-" *~Dirty Haaaary, Dirty Haaaary/ Dirty Haaaaryyyy/ I'm quick on the draw!~* sang his cell phone, breaking him off mid-sentence with a furious gleam in his eye. "STAR. Maddicks too. One sec." Taking the phone out of his pocket, he flipped it open "What is it, Bully? Got another cat in...are you kidding? Fine, fine, I'll take care of it, but you'll pay for this, Maddicks. I promise. Love you too, bye." Stuffing it back into his pocket the AEGIS agent shook his head furiously "Got a cat up a tree a couple blocks around the corner, on Liberty Street. That damned Maddicks..." He smiled awkwardly at Velocity "Look, you're faster, could you...you know, take care of it? Please?"

GM Pausing for a moment, Ion shook her head "I can't hear anything. But that cavern can't be too deep, so we'll head on. Join us at the top there, then we can search the next ravine." With that she trudged off, feet splashing in the narrow stream, followed by the other two. Christina and Alfonso were notably slower, glancing up at the surrounding walls and pausing now and then to mutter to each other, as if comparing notes. The cave was narrow at first, but as the water broadened and slowed, the walls gradually spread apart. With every step, the noise that wasn't water grew, until at last all of them could hear it, a voice calling at the edge of conscious hearing, asking for anyone who could hear to turn aside and follow it. The way underfoot was sodden and slippery from ceaseless water flowing, and the occasional root, a finger groping for the precious water, made the going a little slower than it might have been. At first the trio had to go in(mostly) single-file, but by the time they'd reached the mouth they could easily have gone three abreast and had space to spare. At a glance, even before their eyes(those that needed to) adjusted to the dimness, it was obvious they had found their goal. The pool shone from within, a clear, pale glow that soothed the eyes to look at. The cavern ceiling was open, but hidden by an enormous tangle of leaves and branches that even the stabbing moonlight couldn't fully penetrate. Roots had grown down to cover the walls and approached the spring itself...but something held them back from the water's edge, and a short wall, about a foot high, had built up over the slow eons. The voice paused when the Claremont alumni entered the inner sanctum, but after a moment it began again, speaking much more clearly "Through me there is illumination. The future, the past, the here and now; but drink my water, and it is yours."
  13. GM The heroic name got little more than a look of renewed confusion and irritation from King, the officious mega leading the way into the Boardroom, down hallways of cold lights in high ceilings and thick oak walls scattered with paintings of hard-eyed old men and imperious young men from years past. Doors passed them on the way, each a rich mahogany and bearing a small red sign indicating which department they defended. A few had the comics and newspaper clippings often used to try and give life to faculty offices, with about as much success. At last she stopped before a larger set of doors marked simply 'Meeting Hall'. Turning on her heel, the Chessmen's leader pointed at a nearby comfy couch "Alright, you, British Youth or whatever, you wait out here until we're done. Don't touch anything, you got me? It'll just take fifteen minutes." Castle gave Agnus an encouraging wave and smile over his shoulder before he vanished along with King into the room, the national heroine catching a glimpse of a large table full of men and women in checkerboard costumes, all listening intently to a thin man with blond hair and narrow glasses at the table's head. Then the door shut, and all was quiet. A little later... With a bang, the door opened, the crush of duochrome Chessmen leaving in a haze of laughter, chatting about something happening in Bombay. King and Castle alone gave YB more than a curious glance, the others turning away on seeing her. Watching the others go, King nodded when they'd rounded the corner and moved back to the meeting hall, beckoning to Agnus "Hanks wants to ask you a few questions, without most of the team around to 'get ideas' about other worlds." Castle was beaming, and had a spring in his step, even more than usual. "It'll be fine," he assured Young Britannia "he just wants to make sure you don't turn people British or whatever, and the light stuff really got his attention" the mega added. The room was spacious, but sparse. There were windows, high slits almost out of reach on the walls, a row of lights above the oval table of polished wood, and chairs for sixteen. At the end, reading some papers by the angular sunlight, was the thin blond man from earlier. Hearing them come in, he took off his glasses and glanced at the newcomer superhuman. A peculiar look flashed in his eyes, but he only nodded at flicked a hand at the nearby chairs. "Good diu, young lady. I am Peter Hanks, Hanks Conglomerate. Maker of the Chessmen. Regina and Castillgano," he said at last after another moment's cold inspection "tell me you come from...outside. Is this true?"
  14. GM Robert blinked for a few minutes, looking out at the dying world over Tona's shoulder with new, brighter eyes. Leaning back a little in his daughter's arms, the wounded Jail Bird regarded her for a moment, and then gave her a light peck on the nose. <"My little flier,"> he said, his face lighting up with a grin <"I believe I am the most fortunate father in all this world. Who else can say they had a part in making you?"> The lithe man gave a curious, dart-like look at the other two "And these are your friends? Amazing...our only visitors, I'm sad to say, have been the mighty Furions. You two are the first new faces in too long a time. A shame we have to go so soon," he sighed, sinking back onto the ratty blanket, shaking his tired head "Be good to have another party. But if it's as good a place as you say...we'll be free, that's what matters. Thank you for coming to see your silly old pere, darling. I'm sorry it had to be like this. Sneaking into the General's lair is not as easy as it used to be, must be this mysterious 'age' thing the legends speak of." Suddenly he frowned up at Tona, and muttered "I think he's...broken away. From those Doombringers. I heard him raving about wanting to 'rule this world alone'. Anyway," he brightened again "shouldn't keep you here, there's work to do and a planet to rescue! See you soon, Tona." A chilly wind whistled through the trees, cutting into the very bones of the three girls. Far off, the whirling specks and their object of adoration had grown clearer to Blodeuwedd's goggled vision. Like a dragon attended by flies. Whatever it was was heading their way, and fast.

GM 12.45 PM, 1st of May, 2014, Liberty Park, Liberty Perk The harsh winter hadn't yet given up its hold on the west Atlantic. There were still occasional snowfalls, and the air was chillier than any mid-spring noon had any right to be. The clouds reigned over Freedom City. Still, that made things like steaming-hot coffee all the better. One of the reasons Mega Howell had been invited to the busy coffee shop. The other was the man who had invited her there, Freedom City's Director of the American Elite Government Intervention Service, Stewart Bonham. His chair tipped back downright perilously, a mug filled with one of the shop's better blends in hand, and gazing at the bustling streets and busy park like a born sovereign, the handsome, cheerful Chief Administrator was nobody's idea of a secret agent. Dressed in a snug blue sweater and scuffed jeans with a Blades baseball cap over his curly brown hair, he looked more like a off-duty athlete than a government spy and soldier. "It's great to see the people you're fighting for, Velocity, catch a glimpse of the lives that need saving. Gives you some perspective, you know?" tossing back a mouthful of the rich liquid, he savored the taste with closed eyes. "That, and it's safer. People see us talkin...well, they won't think it's business." Regarding a passing schnauzer on a leash, and the old woman coaxing it along the cold sidewalk, Stewart added "You didn't have to come, so I'm encouraged you did. Tell me," he glanced up at the famed speedster and superheroine across the table from him, his normally bright blue eyes crinkling a little against the sun blazing between the clouds "If I told you 'AEGIS needs your help with a doomsday cult'...what would you say?"
  17. GM At the question of the crew, Kyle caught a faint tapping noise, and Kalf murmuring under his breath in the familiar way of somebody preparing to read something off a page. ~Nobody you've heard of I think, there's two Dotrae-Lor, a Zultasian Zanvir broke out of a lab planet somewhere, a few Edgers~ the generic name given to people on the fringes of Republic-Unity-Khanate space whose family trees often defied most understood geometry ~and some kind of robot called 'Core-A4'.~ ~They're better than most of the rabble in the space-ways, but only by virtue of being somewhat quicker shots. Their armaments are remarkably standard fare, blasters, some light shields, nothing even as exotic as a neuro-pulser according to these readings. They didn't need them for the station though, except to scare off the scientists when Zanvir got them in...~ suddenly, another blink in the helmet's HUD and suddenly Cavalier was looking at a picture of an elegant white space station with a small hole in the side. The picture zoomed it, revealing that the hole was roughly a dozen meters in diameter. ~Almost makes you wonder why they had guns at all. I suspect it was for the look of the thing.~
  18. "Fool! Your 'new' crew is about to be snatched from your fingers!" Wave-Eye loomed over Temperance, each arm on the shattered doorframe with his head stretched out above the half-spirit's. This was necessary so he wouldn't accidentally block either Tsunami or Glamazon with his mighty frame. "What hope do you have, Captain Blood, when such power as ours is massed against you?!" 'With any luck, this shall draw his ire against me first, to prove that he is strong! Hopefully those ghostly blades and hooks won't be as bad as they seem' It wasn't any kind of foolproof plan, but at that moment when their best hope lay with the young women who commanded the waves, he was happy to be the shieldsmer. The sight of the rotted and tattered undead crew sent a chill through him, however, reminding him(as all too much did) about the bloody life he'd left behind, and he had to dig his spined claws into the wood to keep from trembling.
  19. Not much that can be done, so setting a Reaction to Interpose on the next attack made against Temperance. Also a Free Action to talk smack-wise agin Captain Blood. Could the Conch's Damage be used against the crew near the passengers?
  20. GM Admiral Kalf managed to suppress most of a snort. ~That will be unnecessary, Star Knight. We already have a research facility at the very edge of your star's orbit perfectly capable of holding the Blue Star. No known force that could stand a chance against our defenses gets halfway here without us knowing about it. The unconventional assaults, of course...but it's much harder to sneak into an inhabited solar system than you'd think, especially celebrities like our Ultra-Man.~ ~As for his crew, they are the brutal dregs of dark-side space-ports, arena worlds and lawless systems. None of them should be a challenge, especially not intellectually. By our life-sign readings there were 5 others on board his smuggling ship, the Celestia. The ship itself is only slightly larger than a fighter, built for stealth, but its main cannons are stolen from a mid-line cruiser so don't underestimate it. That and the on-board cloaking device, it hides the ship from our scanners and renders the accursed thing invisible to most naked eyes.~ A note of confidence crept into the bitter words. ~It's slower than your armor, however, which should give you a critical edge.~
  21. Knight: Yes, that is a 30. DC23 Toughness save: 19. A flaw is found in the armor! Thunder: Oh well, his turn still, that attack from the second Dragon missed.
  22. Round 2 Dragons(x2): Unharmed(x2)-GM Solvrytter: Bruised(x1), 0HP One makes a Bluff roll to try and Feint Solvy, using Setup to give the benefit to his ally: 20. Other one throws electro-darts: 11. A wash either way!
  23. Stealthily creeping among the shadows, Alden had fallen into the same mindset he had when stalking the rooftops of London: that he would see without being seen, and follow without being followed, that his presence would be unknown to his enemy until the critical moment when at last he struck. So he was partially hunched-over, crouched against the wall, and totally unprepared for the explosion of bullets, his would-be prey to come barreling out of the door and screech to a halt mere feet from him, staring in understandable shock at the nutter in the cape. For a second, all Osprey could think of was how much better it would look if he had already transformed...but there was work to do. Recovering quickly from the paralyzing shock, he jumped at Mitchell with all the force his tensed legs could give him, hitting the smuggler head-on, the two rolling head-over-heels as he bound the man's arms and legs with his own, steely muscles soon wrapping the startled arms dealer like sapient chains. At last, breathing heavily from the burst of effort and adrenaline, he said very low and softly "Well now, Mitchie. Been a while. What's a bloke like you doin' in a place like this?" 'Argh, if my ears weren't ringing from those gunshots, I could think of something less bleeding obvious.'
  24. Well now is certainly no time for hesitation! Jumping tackle against Mitchell! EDIT: Attack roll: 16. Grapple check: 34.
