Psychics and Tigers and Bears... Oh My! (OOC)
GranspearZX replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Archives
Bear punches Tiger! Attack Roll (Unarmed, Fire): (1d20+12=22) -
Whatever Elias was doing, it was working. He could see the tigerman's movements slowing in a very obvious way. Marcus might have hesitated to wonder why it was happening, but Arcturus was far shorter on patience. He snarled like the angry, furry beast he'd become and drew his arm back, flames wrapping around his right hand as the Flame Rune burst to life across the back of his hand. He didn't bother with a palm strike this time, and instead swung with a full-force haymaker aimed right at the guy's jaw.

GM Trigger skidded to a halt as Supercape cut him off. He didn't have time to retaliate as Supercape struck him again, sending him flying. He landed on his back and the weapon he'd been holding skidded across the room, sliding back into a seemingly innocuous metal bar once it was out of his grip. "...this... sucks." And he was out cold. Smokey, on the other hand, was furious. "I'm gonna burn that nosy nose of yours right off your face, cape!!" Both his forearms responded to his rage by becoming completely engulfed by the flames, and he sent a stream of fire in Supercape's direction. He still didn't seem to fare any better with his aim, blinded by rage now instead of the flash Supercape had performed earlier.

TOU check (Bruised x2): (1d20+6-2=11) And that renders poor Trigger unconscious. Naturally, this enrages Smokey: FORT check to overcome Dazzle (+2): (1d20+10+2=26) And he can see! Thus, he tries to incinerate Supercape one more time! Blast 12 (Fire blast): (1d20+8=10) -1 makes it 9, but he misses either way. Round 4!: Supercape :: 3 HP :: Bruised x1 Smokey :: Unharmed, Insub2 Trigger :: Bruised x2, Unconscious

Marcus was a really difficult guy to miss--big guy in a hockey jersey. He wasn't so worried about her being late; punctuality wasn't exactly something Marcus himself was good at, hence why he'd showed up twenty minutes early. He knew nothing about who he was meeting, either, besides her name and a basic rundown of the things she could do--a teleporter named Kat. It seemed innocuous enough, and he immediately knew that there were more details than he was being given. That was fine though... At this point, he expected it. If anything, it made these encounters a lot more interesting. He was more or less lost in his own thoughts when Kat showed up--right in his face with a hand extended. Marcus blinked, surprised, then flashed a slightly embarrassed smile at being caught unaware, shaking her hand in return. "Yep, that's me. Nice to meet ya, Kat." A single moment of assessment told him that she wasn't of the magical sort. "I guess we should go inside, hm? What exactly are you having trouble with?"

December 3rd, 2012 3:45 pm Freedom City Library, Main Branch Marcus was, first and foremost, a mage. He certainly didn't fit the typical idea of a magic-user. After all, most of his endeavors had usually involved activating the rune permanently affixed to his back and then wrecking things. He was still learning and studying, however, and even though his other talents were far more draining, it didn't mean that he hadn't been practicing. To that end, his math and science scores were steadily improving from what they had been during his first year at Claremont--and now he'd been asked to tutor another student. Books in hand, Marcus waited at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the library doors, sniffling occasionally and glancing up at the overcast skies. Kinda wish I'd brought an umbrella... ah well. A little rain never killed anybody.

A thread for GMing! Ask if you want in; relatively open occupancy. Claremonters, specifically, as this is a tutoring/study session with the promise of later violence! Currently featuring: Arcturus Warp

Oh yeah, SC can definitely catch up. Trigger's not even close to that fast on foot (Speed 1).

And that will start Round 3! 14 :: Supercape [3HP] - Bruised 12 :: Smokey - Blinded (visual/radio dazzle), Insub2, Unharmed 11 :: Trigger - Bruised x2

GM Trigger gets nailed with the punch, for all of his trying to defend against it. It was immediately clear that Smokey was the physically superior of the pair, and Trigger didn't seem to want any part of the fight to begin with. The blow knocked his glasses off and nearly floored him, only serving to make Smokey that much more angry. "Hey! I ain't done with you yet!!" As Trigger scrambled towards the back of the room, headed for a half-open doorway further in the darkness, Smokey's irritation took the form of a burst of flame aimed at Supercape. He still couldn't see, however, and the stream of fire scorched the ground several feet to Supercape's right, missing him completely.
-
TOU check: (1d20+7=20) And Trigger earns himself another bruise. Smokey attempts to overcome the Dazzle again: FORT check to overcome Dazzle (+1): (1d20+10+1=13) And he fails, but that doesn't stop him from hurling fireballs at Supercape: Concealment Roll 50% (Success on 51-100): (1d100=44) And he misses, hitting everything BUT Supercape. Trigger makes a run for it, scrambling to a door towards the back of the room! (IC post incoming!)

TOU check: (1d20+11=29) Yay! And Arc attacks: Attack Roll (Unarmed): (1d20+12=26) -
Being right really was a blessing and a curse sometimes. Arcturus had a feeling that the threat would be seen as a challenge. That was, in fact, the law of the animal world, after all. Dominance was often determined by force, and he was fairly certain that he was going to have to send this person, whoever he was, a very physical message. Part of him--the Beast Rune part of him--reveled in the challenge, though it was still reined in by human reason. He didn't WANT to do it, but he knew he had to, before this guy hurt himself or any innocent bystander. The bear took a short leap backward the claws missing his exposed chest. He landed and leaned in, closing the distance between them with astounding speed, thrusting his open, padded palm squarely into the tigerman's face. Marcus was trying to subdue him, not seriously harm him, after all. Martial arts lessons over the past year had certainly paid off in keeping the Beast Rune from getting overzealous.

And Arcturus will try to intimidate him into stopping dead in his tracks: Intimidate skill check: (1d20+17=32) -
"...okay." Marcus had decided on a course of action. Thankfully, there was no one else around, and as he stepped in front of Elias, the outline of the Beast Rune on his shoulder blade began to glow brightly through his shirt. "You work on his mind, I'll deal with the rest of him." In an instant, Marcus's body was engulfed by his own magic, expanding his body to incredible proportion, leaving a large, crimson-eyed black bear in the place of the otherwise composed teenager. He snarled right back at the tigerman, the bass in the ursine hero's voice conveying the intended threat. "HEY! Cut that out NOW."
-
GM Trigger was blown back by the aura, just as Smokey seemed to be regaining his vision. He was still seeing spots, though, and he extended his right hand out in Supercape's direction. Half of the burly biker's body was still visible in the floating smoke cloud; he looked like some sort of genie, almost, with his lower half a transparent wisp of smoke and his torso and head looking more or less solid. A ball formed in his palm, cascading flames from his fingertips until he finally released it. His shot wasn't a direct hit, but the subsequent explosion engulfed the area Supercape had been in. By some miracle, Trigger had been knocked back far enough that the blast missed singing him...

Is anyone still playing this?

"Talked a kid out of destroying the world." Marcus gave a nonchalant shrug and grinned. He really was rather proud of that. "Looks like your conversation went a little differently than mine though... Mine was just a spoiled rich kid who didn't realize how much power he had. I think I just mostly scared him into behaving. I didn't ev-... eh..." I didn't even use my bear form. He coughed. Changing the subject, he frowned at Kristin's bruise; seeing other people in pain was a known trigger for Marcus flipping out. It was, after all, the trigger for the first time the Beast Rune activated. "...you REALLY should get that looked at, Kristin..."
-
"Huh?" Marcus turned, momentarily startled by the snarling figure. He took a single, defensive step back, his right hand clenching into a fist. He didn't immediately do anything though, more curious than afraid. At least he doesn't have a Beast Rune on him... that could get ugly. Still, he recognized the look in his eyes. After having lived with the Beast Rune's influence for two years, animal behavior wasn't difficult to decipher. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Elias struggling mentally with something. He exhaled sharply, prepared to defend the psychic if he had to. No sudden moves... at least not yet. Marcus could only hope that Elias was doing something to read this person better.

Ah yes! You're right. *facepalm* I'll get this eventually...
